Stopped for a quick lunch . Service very good. Nice soup and sandwiches. Able to buy a beer to go with lunch .Warm surroundings. Definitely recommend.

A good meal at a good price. Food was simple - well prepared and well presented, and not over-complicated Staff were excellent and dinner was not extended by having long waits.

The hotel makes very good impression with its newly decorated public rooms and bar ; the dining room is vast and would benefit from some lively contemporary prints (no stags); the service was highly attentive and the food was perfectly agreeable but perhaps a little standard and therefore disappointing for the grand setting; a glass of wine comes in a funny little bottle all the way from australia, very odd

Celebrated my Aunt's 81st birthday in the Restaurant. Beautiful food from a varied menu. All produced from the local suppliers. Service with a smile was second to none from all the staff. Thank you all at the GA Hotel for making a memorial evening for her. 💫💫💫👏

The Sunday lunch was excellent and the service for the meal was very good. We really enjoyed it. I then asked for a coffee at the end of the meal and was told "NO!" You get that in the bar. Then I managed to catch the waiters eye again and asked for the bill. He seemed confused that customers would ask the waiter for the bill! I was told that you pay at reception and then he explained that tea and coffee was included in the price and you get it in the bar. In the bar we were clearly the first customers of the day to go for our coffee. Then a few more customers came into the area who had been in the Restaurant and asked us, what happens with the coffee etc and they seemed as bemused as us. A strange policy, but can I suggest that if you have bizarre polices that you actually communicate this with the customers. We gave our name and phone number when we booked, so maybe this is the track and trace. Did not see the Protect Scotland App that most places have. Visit for the food.

This restaurant caters for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free diets. Food is delicious and service is excellent.

I'm vegan so it was lovely to have vegan options as standard on the menu each night of my stay. So often restaurants might come up with a vegan starter and main but rarely have a vegan dessert so great to see one on the menu each night (didn't help my waistline though!!)

Stopped in past here mid Sunday afternoon after a few others were not serving food . Staff were very helpful and friendly . decent menu and good value for money . Food was of bar lunch style . Very nice surroundings . Food was delicious and well presented . All in all a very pleasant place to visit

What more could you want? Good service! And the staff were very good and helpful. I went there four nights running as part of the hotel's dinner, bed and breakfast deal. As a pescatarian there was good variety for me each night. On Friday and Saturday nights it took a while for my main course to arrive as they were so busy, but the other nights my courses arrived instantly.

I can't fault the food or the service at this restaurant. The room is a bit too big and open to have much atmosphere if you want a romantic or intimate meal but great for large groups.

Visited with family for Sunday Lunch, lovely food and well presented. Free bread baskets on arrival. Food served quickly and there is plenty on the menu as well as vegetarian options. Was a set price menu at 14.95 for 3 courses which was worth the money.

We dined three times during our recent stay in Grantown-on-Spey - choice changed every night and meals were good overall,. We experienced a little difficulty in booking as the reception routinely turned us away whereas the restaurant seemed to have no difficulty finding room for us. We had the misfortune on our first attempt to get into the restaurant to be diverted into the bar for some indifferent pub food. Beware that the hotel may be very busy with groups of walkers, ramblers and birders some of whom we found to inconsiderately noisy

Here back again at the Grant this is a lovely hotel right in the Centre of town, the front desk is always pleasant and pleased to great you.

The Grant Arms is a nice looking hotel on the main street of Grantown on Spey. The restaurant looked good. The menu looked good. So our expectations were high. However, the meal didn't deliver. I had the venison which proved to be the best of the four meals. Two roast beef dinners were panned. And a pasta dish disappointed. And the service was neither fast nor professional. Sorry.

The food served was very good and well prepared out of ingredients delivered from locals firms. The service was excellent.

The menu looked interesting but its execution can only be described as poor. The slow cooked blade of beef was tasteless with no attempt at presentation and I would be embarrassed to serve such a meal at home even just for my husband and I. The vegetables looked like they had been sitting keeping warm for a few hours- the carrots had dried out! The venison haunch that my husband ordered was over cooked, dry and tough and lacking in flavour with very little of the promised jus.

Good food for saying it is really mass catering at the hotel. Price is reasonable, food is reasonable but service is very friendly.

Honestly I was expecting a little more .... The Salmon paté was not really the best and also the cullen skink was quite poor.

Stayed at the Grant Arms Hotel for what was probably our fifth visit and was pleasantly surprised with the Garden Restaurant. My wife and I immediately noticed a change with the menu and food and, on speaking to a member of staff, were advised that there was a new chef. In our opinion the food quality has remained at the same high standard but there is a greater variety of dishes to choose from and the food is less rich, both of which we consider to be improvements especially when staying for six nights as we did.

Newly refurbished hotel. Clean, friendly, welcoming. Obliging staff. Excellent choice of quality food. Rooms comfortable and relaxing. Ideal for couples, families, groups. Highly recommended. Good value.

We called in for a drink while waiting for the Hogmanay Party to start in the street outside - it was a wonderful atmosphere and we were made most welcome.

We were looking for somewhere to stop and have a coffee after walking around the village, but as we had the dog with us we needed to find somewhere she was also welcolm. Normally she would have been fine in the snack bar area, but it was not open yet. We asked reception and they were happy for us to sit in the foyer area. Ordered coffees which came with shortbread biscuits. Good pot of coffee and the biscuits were good as well. Comfortable seating, well decorated and all the staff we spoke to were friendly. The bill was also reasonable, as due to the type of hotel, we thought it would be more expensive than it was. Handy to know that the dog is welcome and we would use it again.

The menu is well balenced, good vegitarian options. Portion sizes were perfect. Every meal we had here was superb. Well priced. excellent use of local ingrediants.

Service was excellent. We were seated at a very comfortable spacious table. We were served by a group of attentive and friendly servers. Food was excellent.

We had an evening meal booked and were shown to our table promptly. The room and tables were nicely laid out and staff attentive. Our order was taken promptly and that was how the evening progressed. We were served almost immediately after placing our order and felt slightly rushed from start to finish, The vegetables served with the main course were slightly underwhelming both in variety and quantity, the main course itself was well cooked. The dessert menu was fair and our choices well presented and tasty. A nice touch was that tea or coffee was served in the lounge though self service. Overall a pleasant experience food wise but slightly rushed.

My first impression was of a very nice looking Hotel in a small quaint Scottish Town in the heart of The Highlands on the beautiful Speyside. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, however the whole ambiance is spoiled by inexperienced students whom have no knowledge of making guests feel comfortable. Reception and Lounge Bar are left unattended whilst immature Staff direct their priorities to their own social time in the restaurant whilst talking about guests within ear shot regarding requests above and beyond their own understanding. A lot needs to be learned before a second visit or recommendation

Nous avons pris le Filet de Bœuf accompagné de Haggis et un poisson (seabass). Le poisson était bon mais la viande était excellente, succulente. L'association avec le Haggis parfaite. Désert type nougat glacé de bonne facture. Service normalement attentionné et rapide. Ne pas hésitez à demander une table comme on la souhaite car la salle est grande.Pour ceux qui aiment la musique je recommande le passage de "Danny Boy" en version acoustique guitare de Michalel Mark. C'est une balade irlandaise mais elle va bien avec l'ambiance.A noter le bar qui accompagne l’hôtel avec une carte de Whisky digne de la région.

Just had Sunday lunch for two here on 13th August 2017. Attentive, friendly, efficient staff, complimented by traditional, quality surroundings.The beef and pork mains were delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We enjoyed a bottle of Chardonnay and also ordered deserts. The coconut cream and mango cheesecake (hooray for large portions) was adorned with all manner of lovely berries and a mango coulis. Superb. The vanilla pod and strawberry rice pudding I'm assured was also extremely good. A lovely relaxing meal with great service and clearly a talented chef and kitchen staff. Front of house staff also really pleasant and kind. Thank you.

Very ordinary food, with slow service from waiting staff who couldn't really understand Australian accents. Presecco and red wine served from mini bottles like air flights (poor quality) and the fish, meat were overlooked and tasteless. The place is grand and regal, however there was a large group of bird waters on tour eating at the same time and it was noisy and cafeteria like. Would not go back as it was also poor value for money.

My son grandchildren and myself had a lovely meal here for Mothers day. The food was delicious and piping hot. The staff were very friendly and helpful.The tables were set with Mother Day plants for us to take home A very busy Restaurant. Thanks for a lovely time xx

Das Essen wurde im Restaurant serviert, einem grossen, sehr belebten Raum, er nicht viel Gemütlichkeit ausstrahlte. Das Essen wurde nicht als eine gemütliche Mahlzeit serviert, sondern Schlag auf Schlag abserviert. Kaum bestellt kommt die Vorspeise, kaum ist diese weg kommt der Hauptgang, usw. Es war zu hektisch und wir mussten eine Pause verlangen. Bezahlt wurde nicht am Tisch, sondern an der Rezeption - eher ungewöhnlich. Für ein gemütliches Essen würden wir nicht wieder dorthin gehen.

Wir besuchten mit einer Gruppe im Mai 2017 das Hotel (mehrere Tage) und haben(Gott sei Dank) nur 1x in dem Restaurant gegessen.Ein a la carte Essen war für 12 Personen nur auf Vorbestellung möglich. Nachdem wir Platz genommen hatten , rollten sofort die Vorspeisen an. Die Weinkarte mußte man erkämpfen. Der bestellte Wein wurdenach mehreren Reklamationen während der Hauptspeise serviert. Das Personal schien uninteressiert und machte sich über die Gäste lustig.Eine Nachspeise wurde vergessen und auch nach Reklamation nicht serviert. Also : dasServicepersonal im Restaurantl solltegeschult werden.Positiv: das Essen war eigentlich gut.Schade.

It is the facilities for veiwing the wildlife that attracted us to this hotel. The food is more than adequate but not exceptional.

We stopped there for lunch - everywhere else in town was full but there was only one other couple in the Grant Arms. The hotel is beautifully appointed and clearly well looked after. Sadly, for a business offering a premium experience, the service was very poor. The waiter arrived to take our order but there was no welcome. Indeed, there was virtually no verbal communication at all. Is there any training provided? My steak pie was delicious, the stroganoff a little disappointing. Overall, not planning to return despite being regular visitors to the area. The place was beautiful, my food was reasonable for the price (£10.90) but if they can't be bothered to welcome guests properly they don't really deserve the business.

Excellent staff run a brilliant restaurant, relaxed, friendly but professional. The menu changes daily and uses much local produce. The lamb shanks, the venison casserole and the fish all come with high recommendation. There is now an improved vegetarian selection as well.

We the restaurant & lounge were very well staffed and very good service. Food was very good. Lounge was relaxing. Hotel rooms were clean & efficient. The staff were friendly & very helpful with directions, info & knowledge.

Lunch at this restaurant was very disappointing. The main course was chicken and it was not cooked completely. Part of the chicken breast was still red and bloody. On pointing this out to staff there was no apology and the plate was removed. I requested that I did not want a replacement. The bill was for the food we had eaten and again no apology or a suggestion of a discount for the inconvenience caused. Will not eat there again!

Food is very good the menu is continually changed and uses a lot of local products. It caters well for people on restricted diets. It is advisable to book for Dinner

We have stayed here before, but this time we just called in for dinner. The dining room is cavernous and the piped music means the place is lacking in atmosphere.The food is VERY good, make no mistake, but at £25 for two courses, it should be.Wine by the glass is poor (mini bottles) – first time for a long time that I didn't ask for a refill!However, it's the service that lets the place down. Very friendly, but nobody asked if we were enjoying our meals, nor asked if we wanted to order more drinks, or would we like to see the dessert list. There was a feeling of 'it's not my hotel, so why should I bother'.Nor did they bother to present us with the bill. We said goodnight, walked out and went in the bar (another place lacking in atmosphere). We spent 30 minutes there, before going back to the restaurant to pay. It was closed, so we were directed to the hotel reception. We asked for the bill, which was presented without comment. We could so easily have left without paying our £54.Very disappointing.

Dropped in by whilst on a drive, was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, the prices and how friendly the staff were. Nothing was too much trouble and they catered for gluten free which is always a bonus for me. Excellent value for money, will definitely return.

We were completely taken aback by the quality of the food on offer. On the whole very very good apart from the orange juice at breakfast which is awful. However that pales into insignificance with the quality of the food on offer. On top of that the service is excellent. We will definitely be back.

I visited this hotel for afternoon tea with a friend and it was very warm and welcoming.Unusually, the afternoon tea was laid for self service and we were able to help ourselves to a collection of scones and cakes.The young waiter did a sterling job of re-filling our coffee and tea, even though he was rushed off his feet.A very pleasant afternoon.

Lovely food, fairly sophisticated atmosphere, lovely touch retiring to the bar for free coffee or tea whilst sampling the very impressive range of single malts some with a fair bit of age. No wonder 2 Queens have been here.

We boekten een tafel hier voor het diner. Verwachtten deden we niet veel want we kenden het restaurant alleen van de buitenkant.We werden vriendelijk en voorkomend ontvangen en kregen een mooie plaats. Mooie keus, snelle vriendelijke service en een nette restaurant zaal hier! Eten was voortreffelijk, met als ontzettend leuke toegift koffie/ thee in de lounge op self-service basis. Sfeervol alles samen.....en erg lekker.Slecht één minpuntje - we zijn door niet minder dan 6 verschillende personen bediend. Dat vinden wd te veel. Liever één persoon die je meer persoonlijke service geeft.

The breakfast menu was slightly expensive but had excellent choice and quality. The dinner menus changed every day and were wonderful. The standard menu offered so many delicious alternatives that we didn't even venture into the specials!

Been to Grant Arms for many meals and breakfasts. However felt very let down when arrived at 11am (outside board state breakfast served until 11.30am) and basically refused. Not really much of apology or valid reason accept Chef now preparing lunch. They perhaps need to change their times so as not to disappoint customers??!

Stunned by cost for a solid but far from spectacular meal at this out of the way hotel. We were staying elsewhere in town and wandered in looking for some solid Scottish fare after being unwilling to wait an hour for a table at the restaurant at the Garth Hotel. Room was 80% empty but we were told we had to wait 5 minutes to be sure that they could accommodate us. Once seated, we found the meal pleasant but the costs were extremely high with entrees starting at 20 pounds and climbing to 30. These prices were far from justified by quality of the food or service.

We (2 couples) only stayed in Grantown on Spey for one night and the Grant Arms was recommended by our hosts. Although we had no booking and the place was fairly busy, a table was quickly arranged for us. Nice menu, attentive service and the best venison we tasted in Scotland - perfectly cooked!

The service staff was unhelpful and cold, the food average, and our meals didn't arrive as billed on the menu. Smokers immediately outside the open but unreachable window added unwanted flavor to what turned out to be a disappointing meal.

Pleasant restaurant which was almost full and a sensibly brief menu. Starters needed more imagination and kitchen creation as they appeared to have been sourced from a packet.Main courses in our case Steak and Turbot were well cooked and extremely tasty however would have benefitted from more attractive garnish and vegetable sides.Altogether it was not an unpleasant experience and the service team was attentive but the pricing was on the expensive end of acceptable and this would put me off from another visit.

Just another hotel meal at hotel prices, We prefer to try small local places, but our friends wanted to try the Grant Arms Hotel. Not bad, but we wasted a chance to try something only found in Granton On Spey.

We have stayed several times and always eat in the restaurant. Some dishes are repeated - I am pleased to say and the haggis ,jeeps and tat ties stack is a starter to look out for along with an amazing venison casserole. Going again early may - hope to repeat the meals!!

We stayed in the hotel for 5 nights on dinner, bed and breakfast terms and did not have a bad meal. The menu choices were very varied and the quality excellent.

very poor choice of food, poor quality ingredients and far too much repetition on the menu if you are staying more than a couple of days. Staff were friendly but I think they need a new chef. He is either working to a poor budget (althought the price doesn't reflect that) or he is just jaded.

If you like elaborate menu descriptions and food set out prettily on the plate then this might be for you. We were booked dinner bed and breakfast for our stay. We would have looked elsewhere after day one if we had the option.Although we were obliged to nominate in advance a time for dinner, we waited 25 minutes for our starter, and the lamb chops were fatty and a bit tough. On the second evening our waiter asked if we would like to see the sweet menus, then forgot to bring it. On the third day at breakfast we were not offered toast. The menu prices were not cheap and we should have been able to expect much better.

There wasn't much option for dinner in Grantown on a Thursday evening, so we dined in the Grant Arms. The meal was OK, although the service wasn't great with water being delivered to our table but no glasses, cutlery missing etc. The price was high considering what we ate.

The cured venison was really tasty with your own tomato chutney. Salmon on Rosti as a main course with the delicious light cream sauce followed by freshly made profiteroles for desert would make this hotel my first stop when I am back in this area.

If you want to enjoy good food in pleasant surroundings with helpful and friendly staff this is the place to eat in Grantown-on-Spey. The chef produces fantastic dinner menus with superb desserts.

Good menu choice and delicious breakfasts and evening meals.Lots of local produce like smoked venison and chorizo from the local smoke house.Desserts are especially scrumptious.
