We went to Hoveton Hall Garden on a rainy day. We stopped at the cafe twice. Once for drinks and then for lunch. The fish finger sandwiches were great. We had toasted banana bread with honey and a brownie. Both were fantastic. Both members of staff were lovely and really helpful. The barn was lovely and warm with the log burner. Many thanks for great service.

Beautiful food in lovely open surroundings. The food was first class. Poached eggs on rarebit cheese scones were amazing and my OH loved his fish finger roll too. Wish we lived in the area so could lunch there regularly.

We were lucky enough to be able to go ahead with our wedding this September with 30 guests, and had a perfect wedding reception and dinner at Garden Kitchen Cafe. The venue itself is stunning, and once adorned with flowers and a night sky full of stars was like something out of a fairy-tale! The food was delicious and all of our guests commented on the quality of it, accompanied by lovely wine and a local welcome cocktail! Alex and his team are very professional and accommodating to your needs, and the evening itself ran completely seamlessly. We could not recommend Garden Kitchen Cafe highly enough as an intimate venue for a personalised, unique wedding reception.

We have discovered this lovely venue for our group of 6 , which feels really covid safe, lots of space, lots of parking and wonderful food cooked and served by really friendly, lovely people. Want to support struggling business at this very trying time and would highly recommend for lunch, brunch or just cake, all freshly cooked on the premises. Depending on weather, you can sit in the courtyard, cart shed, or even in the picnic area, when the sun shines.

We visited here during august 2020, so there were still quite strict rules about social distancing etc. The cafe handled this really well by having loads of outdoor seating and still producing amazing quality food. We both ordered a cheese scone and it was truly the best scone either of us had ever had in our entire scone-eating lives.

My husband and I visited for lunch and we were both very impressed. We sat outside in a really lovely sheltered courtyard. Beautiful little plants and hand made ceramics were available to buy. The menu was not huge, however the daily specials board added to the choice. The food was certainly good quality, fresh and obviously made in their kitchen. We had a ploughman's and a vegetarian tagine both of which did not disappoint. The staff were some of the friendliest I've come across which for me made the visit that much more enjoyable. The chef even took the time to come ask if our meal was ok. Toilet facilities were modern and clean and there was ample parking. Think we have found a new favourite place!

Our fave eatery in Norfolk... and the first time we've managed to head over there for brunch.Sat in the delightful courtyard, in a shady spot, eating huevos rancheros, shatshuka, bacon sarnies (with peanut butter as a lovely twist on the classic) and home made granola with yoghurt... The food is divine, the service is spot on and the location is just a stunning escape into a rustic haven that could be anywhere!Brunch at GK now a diarised feature of our lives!!

I was taken out here by friends. I am sorry to say that I found it to be mediocre and expensive. It was very much a carnist paradise with nothing on offer for plant based diners. In this day and age I really don’t expect to have to ask if they can be do me something special which doesn’t contain animal products. What I was really disappointed with though, was when I went to their facebook page to leave some feedback, I found that they had a competition for a free meal for two if you left them a good review on trip advisor. I don’t normally leave reviews but I do read them and think it is wrong to incentivise customers to leave a good review. It was clear from the competition that it onl applied to those having “enjoyed their experience”.

I visited the Garden Kitchen with friends early June and it was very disappointing. There wasn‘t a single option on the menu which didn‘t contain meat or dairy. Worse still, the server didn‘t even know the difference between vegetarian and vegan. I ended up just eating bread and salad, which spoilt the occasion for all of us. I can certainly not recommend this place to anyone looking for plant based menu options.

The food is amazing along with the selection of wine and ales. We live so close to the Garden Kitchen Cafe and have visited many times and thought it time to write another review. First of all the staff - so accommodating to any particular taste/diet and always so friendly and cheery. Secondly the food is always freshly cooked, as local as possible and just simply great food. They stick to a small menu but there is always plenty of choice for all tastes. Good selection of wines and soft drinks and all very reasonably priced. Excellent meal tonight - two starters, mains and two rounds of drinks for £40. The pea and mint soup was a delight.

We came here as a family of four (with two small children) on Mothering Sunday for lunch before visiting the gardens at Hoveton Hall. Despite the fact we hadn’t booked and the cafe being extremely busy the food was excellent and we didn’t have much of a wait - quite a feat for a small kitchen! It was the first time we had eaten here and although we don’t live particularly locally we will definitely be returning for the food alone! The gardens are lovely but the Garden Kitchen is the real star here. It’s also worth saying that the whole place has been done beautifully too. Well worth the hour’s drive across Norfolk! Well done to all the hard working Garden Kitchen team, we’ll see you again!

I came to the Garden Kitchen Cafe at the weekend for a hen party. We were sat in the barn and were greeted with a glass of Prosecco upon arrival and a flower crown workshop, which the hen party LOVED! We were then treated to the most delicious meal upstairs in the barn which was lined in fairy lights and candles - very atmospheric. The chef designed a couple of cocktails especially for us, which went down a treat! Most of the group hadn't been here before and plan to return, one even came back the following day. Popped in for a light lunch, very peaceful and pretty place set near the entrance to Hoveton Hall. Excellent selection of food and drink, tasty and well presented meals so a huge thanks to the chef. But we waited 15 mins to get served and 45 mins for soup and a sandwich. One waitress who didn't seem to have jot of urgency and no idea about the till and bills ... so a further 15 mins as a queue built to pay the bill. We visitedfor morning for coffee and lunchtime as we were at the country fayre. Getting served was very difficult indeed. Apparently you should ask to be seated then they bring you a menu. Having sat there two times more than half of their customers sat as we did and thought we would be noticed. Even if this was incorrect! We were still paying customers and they should observe changes in the seating area as its business! We waited a long time for someone to take our order and just as much time for the order to arrive. The food was good and tasty but spoilt by the very bad service. They were busy but they should have anticipated this as there was an event. We didn't notice the sign to wait to be seated, and had to ask for a menu, but after that the service was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed a really tasty quiche, and my little girl had a picnic box that included a generous chunk of proper sausage roll and a piece of brownie as well as a sandwich with thick farmhouse ham and a satsuma. We asked for the stated mixed nuts to be replaced with salad and got cucumber - not averse to nuts, but some veg by default would make the selection more balanced. We rounded out lunch with a cream scone which the staff were happy to bring over to the simple play area across the drive. The courtyard seating area has covered seating with heaters, open seating with parasols, and seating under the sky. The menu was small but a more than adequate length and interesting too; it catered well for both mine and my wife's adventurous tastes and our childrens', well, childish tastes. We had two tasty pizzas, one of the specials of chorizo sausage, egg and red beans, and a children's lunch box (brioche bun with ham, popcorn, marshmallow, gingerbread man, and dried fruit with white choc drops - too much sugar for everyday, but OK for a treat. It has been transformed by the new owners into a wonderful place to sit and lunch a just watch the day go by. They have made the courtyard into a lovely area with cane furntiture and bright parasols and created a lovely undercover eating area from an old barn. I had a lovely spanish platter of meats and olives with warm bread - amazing ! Had been into Norwich the night before and spent a fortune on a meal that was no where as good as this. It really was delicious. You can have wine and beers but they also do lovely big jugs of ice cold sparking or still drinks - we had elderflower and cucumber sparkling and it was really really good! Opposite there is a meadow for children to play and deck chairs for adults to lounge in the sun. They have speciality evenings too with food, drinks and music - can't wait to try that now. Stopped here for lunch after seeing a rather obscured sign on the side of the road and aren't we glad we did! What a super lunch we had and listening to the rest of the customers there so did they.

We visited here for coffee this morning. We were so impressed by the staff and service we went back for lunch. Amazing food and very friendly staff. A Norfolk little gem. We will be back and tell all our friends and local family. Thank you.

Great food, great service. Beautiful location. The courtyard and toilets were both immaculately presented. We will return.

Sunny afternoon in June. Perfect opportunity for first visit to Hoveton Hall Gardens and Garden Kitchen Cafe for my husband and I. Lunch before the gardens, asparagus and Stilton soup for me, toasted ham and gouda sandwich for him! Couldn't be bettered, lovely surroundings, including wonderful array of plants. And the toilets deserve a special mention, look at the tiles and the plants!

Eleven of us recently celebrated a fabulous lunch at the café, ages ranging from 1 year to 80 years old. All ages were superbly catered for. The wine and the food were delicious, an interesting combination of food and flavours, not just the usual BLT or jacket potato with chilli and so on that you see on so many other cafés' menus. A beautiful setting too and the most friendly and willing staff. Nothing was too much trouble and thoroughly recommend it.

We happened upon this utter gem of a cafe on their opening weekend. It was gorgeous! We tried a bit of everything - the coffee was excellent, the local wines were awesome and the fresh cordials were a real treat.

We stopped off here for lunch during our visit to Hoveton Hall gardens. The menu was interesting and the food delicious. The were various seating options with outside, under cover but still outside and an inside option. The only downside was that it shut at 4 and we were looking forward to visiting at the end of our garden tour. The staff however very kindly unlocked the ladies for us to use. This is a destination in itself whether you are visiting the gardens or not.

The setting for this cafe is beautiful, tranquil and so relaxing you'll literally want to stay all day! I've been twice now and loved it on both occasions. The food is fresh and delicious. The menu changes often with lots of yummy and interesting options. Great children's menu, plenty of space for children and buggies and the best changing facilities in Norfolk! I'll be back here many times over the summer.

After a glorious (if ridiculously chilly for June) walk around the gardens we lunched here. Very fresh ingredients (local) and very friendly service. Will be going again very soon as less than 20 minutes for our home. Varied menu and lovely coffee. Couldn't squeeze in cake, alas! Felt we were miles away and on holiday.

A beautiful secluded spot in grounds of beautiful gardens. You sit in walled garden under a parasol and feel like your a million miles away. My wife and I have been there twice with a our 7 month baby, they have fantastic changing facilities and high chairs so she can sit and eat with us. The food is fantastic and changes regularly, the sundaes are always on the menu and are amazing! So far we have had antipasti meats, dips and bread, Mediterranean fish soup, roast chicken, mountains of chips and Caribbean fried fish sandwiches. It is somewhere you can loose an afternoon in peace and tranquility with excellent food and drink.

Fantastic food in a delightful setting. Every little detail has been thought of and it is a wonderful place to eat for families with small children (and couples/families of all ages, in fact). The grounds are very pretty and there is shelter if rain makes an appearance. The waiting staff were excellent and the food was simply delicious. Interesting choices as well as classics with a twist and done really well. The chef, Alex, is onto a winner here. Highly recommended!

Sorry, I never give 5 stars, that would only ever be perfection and perfection doesn't exist but this place comes pretty damn close and just pips Bijou for the best casual, alfresco, café experience in this area. 2 people, a charcuterie plate, a cheese plate, bread, olives and a super asparagus and parmesan salad, oh! and a couple of glasses of red. Everything was as it should be, the sun was out, the enclosed walled garden, the staff were smiling and all finished with perfect tapas like food.

Visited on a lovely sunny day. Food was great and staff very friendly. We had Spanish meat plate, cheese plate and asparagus and Parmesan salad bowl all very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

We stopped here for Sunday lunch on the walk from Sheringham back to Cromer after Sunday morning church at Life Church in Sheringham. Conveniently situated just a few minutes from the coast path. Although we had not booked they were able to accommodate us in the garden. Food was excellent and seemed good value.

The food was very good well cooked and presented, we had to wait for a while before our order was placed, however it's a busy local pub which caters for holiday makers also so this could have been the reason for the wait. Cheerful and pleasant staff, I would certainly eat there again.

WOW …What a find … great food choices . But just needed a coffee and coffee cake before going to the beach. Lovely friendly staff …Fantastic to know they have staff with learning difficulties who were so polite friendly and even gave my dog a treat . It will be my regular from now on . Many thanks

Been here before as we are fairly local and it was good. But this time terrible and very expensive we had roast pork with apple sauce, stuffing and crackling. Meat was mostly really Fatty and baguette was filled mostly with stuffing best bit was the crackling. At £8 each I expect far better just ripping off the holiday makers. Don’t think we will be going again. It was barely warm so back to the pie man at sheringham for us.
