I had two takeaways on 12 November to take back to Wales. Ate the veg Balti today and it was class, lovely flavours and just right. I am off to Goa in a n month and this is Goa standard. I have a veg Madras to review soon and I can't wait. Great food.

My husband and I picked this restaurant because of their reviews. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Portishead. The staff were very welcoming as soon as we arrived. Seated us at a lovely table which I had called ahead and booked. It was the nicest Indian restaurant we had been in. Very clean modern and spacious. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Dopiaza, Pilau rice and a garlic naan. Drinks 2 pints of Cobra lager and 2 large glasses of Rose Zinfandel wine. Amazing price under £42. The food was excellent. Lamb melted in your mouth. Chicken tikka was just right. So if you want a great curry definitely pay this restaurant a visit.

Been here many times but very disappointed tonight. My king prawn butterfly was overcooked and dry as to be inedible. I followed with a chicken Dhansak but I swear the chicken was reheated from the bank holiday weekend just prior. It was extremely dry, no moisture at all, just what I would expect from a reheat. I phoned to complain (not for a refund) and the gentleman I spoke to did not deny the reheat accusation and also said that it was hard to get the microwave heating of the butterfly just right. The other two meals we ordered were fine but my own evening was completely ruined as explained above. If I go back, I shall pre-warn them that I don't want any dry or overcooked/reheated food. If it happens again that will be the last of my business after some years of visiting/home delivery.

One of the best Indian meals we have had recently, friendly staff, comfy seating and table, great service and well cooked and presented food. Very reasonable prices too. Would visit again when next in the area.

This is the second occasion we have visited and on both times the experience has been memorable. My partner and I favour drier curries and so I opted for tandoori mixed grill and my partner chicken shaslik. The curries were tasty and cooked to perfection. The mushroom rice, naan and popadom starters were all superb. The service was attentive but not excessively so. This restaurant is a little gem in the heart of Portishead.

Myself, wife and friends had a weekend in Portishead and stopped at the Premier Inn. I asked to recommend an Indian restaurant and they said here. The food was excellent, fresh and piping hot. The staff were professional, friendly and the restaurant was spotless. Iwould definitely recommend here.

Starters were okay, but I can’t get my head around the feeling that the sauce in my dish was based on a tin of tomato soup? The onion rings were a bizarre addition to a lamb dish to have in an Indian restaurant. The mango chutney with the popadoms was more like a jam. I wouldn’t visit again.

We came here as a group of 9. When we ordered our mains it took and hour and half for itnto arrive. The staff were quite miserable, not forthcoming with coming to the table to ask if we wanted drinks. When food arrived it was cold, small bits of chicken literally 6 pieces on each dish . Missing a pilau rice and onion baji. And to top the evening off the two children were sat near a couple who wanted to discuss what sexual acts they were going to perform on each other after they left the restaurant, not the restaurants fault, but they certainly weren't being quiet about their intentions, and I'm sure staff would have been aware. Wouldn't go again.

Absolutely disgusting, worst indian meal. I ordered chicken tikka rezella which came with dried up chicken which had been kept on a hot plate and all dry and brown on top. My husband ordered chicken jalfrezi which came with huge pieces of green peppers and onions with small pieces of chicken all dry. No atmosphere in the restaurant with staff taking it in turns to pop outside for cigarettes dragging smoke back in with them and not washing their hands before handling food. We complained about the food which we refused to eat and they told us to pay for our drinks and leave. Definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant

Real issues here on a Saturday night - ordered a takeaway at 6.15pm and given a 7.15pm delivery slot. Didn't arrive by 7.45pm so we called where we were told it was on the way and when it hadn't arrived by 8.05pm, we called again to be told it'll be no longer than 15 mins. Over an hour after the given delivery time, we told Ghandi to cancel the order - 2 days on there's no sign of a refund (ordered via their website) and now have a PayPal claim pending against this restaurant that isn't resolved. Given how many great curry houses we have in Portishead, I can't recommend Ghandi given the lack of service, timekeeping and failing to provide our refund.

A wonderful meal as always! Friendly staff, good service and tasty food. There were 5 of us dining and we all thought it was excellent. My son is a particular fan, as they always keep him well stocked with after eights! See you all again in the new year!

Dined at Ghandi on Wednesday evening (16th November) their banquet night whilst in the area. Great selection of food available, came out piping hot and absolutely delicious!!! Very attentive staff and food served by the owner. Excellent value for money and when we are next in the South West we will dine again.

Turned up on time for our booked table, to be greeted with confused faces when we asked to be seated. We waited for 20 minutes to be seated with no apology at all for such awful service. We saw other tables show up claiming they had booked and given tables too small for the numbers they booked for or being told they had to wait for a long time for their table to be ready. It was awful service before we had even been able to order our food! The food was mediocre and over all it was a huge disappointment due to the bad service.

Wide selection on the menu. We opted for a take out. Ordered online and received a discount for collecting. didn't take long to be ready. Flavours were okay, nothing special. Would use this over another Indian I recently tired in the area, although there's plenty of room for improvement.

Best curry with out a doubt in portishead. You can sit in the restaurant or order for pick up! Always order with ghandi. Will highly recommend too! 👍🏻

Went here twice in a week , the first time we didn’t book and was left at the bar for ten mins without a drink and waited for over an hour for food to arrive , the second time and you only got another chance because the food was nice so I booked a table again I ordered food and drinks some of the food never came and took a picture of table before starting , when we got the bill we said we didn’t have this and the tall guy in there wanted to argue until we showed him the picture which shut him up , I will not go here again as the tall guy on both visits seems to have quite an attitude , you will know what I mean when you go,

We’ve eaten at Ghandi Tandoori a couple of times before and it’s been quite nice but this time was unfortunately very disappointing. We ordered a takeaway for collection and came home to find most of the dishes were cold. The hot and spicy chicken wings hardly had any meat on them and definitely wasn’t spicy. The onion bhajis were so crispy and burnt that when I took them out the bag they crumbled. Had a similar consistency to wood chip! The naan bread was so burnt on one side that’s all you could taste and the veg curry in the biryani was swimming in oil. It was completely inedible! Spent £30 and probably only ate about £10’s worth. Will not be eating there again!

I’ve recently started frequenting the Ghandi Tandoori in Portishead.It reminded me of the old days ( I started visiting curry houses in City road Cardiff when I was fifteen and I’m 59 now! ) when having a curry was a laid back experience ,with no rush to “get you in and out!”The staff in the Ghandi are excellent , and once they get to know you will have a chat over and above the norm.They are polite and accommodating, with an approach that makes you feel at home.I’m not sure what position the elder statesman of the business (who relishes bringing your meal on a serving trolley ) holds, but he is a character. Not gushing, but polite and makes sure you are happy with the service.If you like to spend time in between courses having a chat without food arriving like a canteen you will enjoy the Ghandi,laid back , but delivering excellent food with a smile.The delivery service is also excellent with a few “extras” thrown in for goodwill.Overall a great experience if you enjoy not rushing around and want super-quick service. The quality is well worth waiting for!!

Usual used another Indian restaurant in the Town but went to the Ghandi as a couple. Was quiet and a little spartan inside but when the food arrived everything "lit up" l am by no means an expert on Indian cuisine but the tender lamb I had was one of the best I have ever tasted. Subsequently seven of us were wondering where to go and I remembered the meal we had in the Ghandi and we finished up there. Again the quality of the food and the service was as good as any I have had and will visit again soon.

Best keema naan breads we have ever had, the rest was pretty awesome too. The chicken madras has a real kick and the lamb saag is very tasty.

We had to wait 20+ minutes for our meal, but no objection as it was obviously freshly cooked with moist and tender meat and a fresh nan. The atmosphere is fairly stark, but the usual Indian music was not too loud. We shall come again.

We come several times a month as a couple, with friends & family and we've literally never had a bad or even average meal. The food is always fantastic, as are the staff.

Totally and Utterly disappointed ! My family and I visited here,the starters were "ok" however the Balti,the Bhuna and the Dansak all tasted the same.The Bhuna sauce was like water. £50 wasted.

Comimos aquí por primera vez, con nosotros muy camarero, comida muy sabrosa, pero estaban constantemente observaba y michelin para comer, y pagar la cuenta el camarero decidió mantener los cambios. No es aceptable. Debería ofrecerse una propina y no mi opinión.

Normalmente se trata de un gran restaurante de comida india. Mi marido es un visitante frecuente con amigos y hemos estado juntos varias veces y siempre ha sido bueno. Esta noche, aunque fue una decepción. Nuestro camarero Ali fue genial. Ayudando a mi marido servicial con tomar su decisión sobre qué plato principal y su era realmente bueno. Por otro lado, la mía no era tan bueno. Mi pollo estaba seco y aunque la salsa era en el lado dulce, que era probablemente justo, Mi pollo estaba seco y sin sabor. También no había suficiente personal para lidiar con aquellos en el restaurante y el gran número de tomar siempre que legislaba, lo que significaba que estábamos esperando más de lo que debería para el plato principal y parte de lo que faltaba. Qué pena porque se inclinan menos a ir de nuevo en una noche de sábado.

Pagamos por la comida y luego preparó. Respirar, primera comida fría. Esta es la segunda vez. Esto ha sucedido con Ghandi pero no estar sucediendo una tercera vez. Cuatro de nosotros cenamos aquí un viernes por la noche. Cuando llegamos el restaurante estaba vacío, tan poco ambiente, sin embargo llegamos temprano (6:00) y como la habitación llena el ambiente desarrollado en un agradable "buzz". Los pedidos fueron tomadas para bebidas y poppadums. Estas llegó rápidamente.

No disfrutar dejando un comentario negativo, pero en este caso me siento que debo compartir mi decepción.

Tenía unos curris de aquí. Tenía un coche que tiene la calidad de picado una baja. Tamaño de manera curry caliente, no es comestible. Pollo Tikka, salty salty salty, incomible. Nunca volveré.
