We went for a romantic dinner, but were rushed throughout. The place wasn't full for a Saturday evening, but still the main host's goal was to get us out as soon as possible. He had zero interest in being there, he didn't care about his customers. The food was mediocre. Not going back!

Lobster Thermidor was one of the best I'd had in a long time. Ripe, meaty and buttery all in one. Oysters were crispy fresh too. Shame they don't do draught beer as their bottled options are a bit limited, would at least expect a Peroni or a Bud. Good cosy vibes in side, fresh bread was a hit with everyone at the table too - we had to ask for more - for which they delivered.

First time eating in Gamba. Out with my wife for her birthday. Restaurant is nice and cosy with rather a formal atmosphere and ambience. We were served a small amuse bouche and warm bread complementary which was a nice tough. We both ordered the who seabream with a side of handcut chips and a side of carrots + sugarsnap peas. The fish was large and meaty and excellently cooked and the sauce was a lovely delicate sweet and sour flavour. Lovely meal and overall experience. It is expensive but a lovely place for a special occasion.

I was somewhat disappointed with Gamba. I heard lots of good things but maybe hyped myself too much. We dined from the main menu, the food is fresh and presented nicely, but I was disappointed with flavours. All three dishes we tried weren't exciting at all. It also felt very overpriced compared to other top seafood restaurants in town. Desserts were good and not too sweet but again it's very expensive for what it is so I will be unlikely to come back. I had to ask for a bill few times and even the restaurant wasn't busy grabbing servers attention was difficult.

Everything was fantastic, from the crab amuse-bouche, our starters of sashimi and oysters, and the mains of lobster and monkfish. Pity the sticky toffee pudding isn't gluten free, but the panna cotta was the best we've had. Pricey but worth every penny, truly memorable meal. Great cocktails as well, although wish the ale selection was more local instead of Brewdog.

We had such a lovely dining experience here! The seafood was of a really high quality and every dish was absolutely delicious. Gamba deserves its ranking as one of Glasgow's best restaurants. We went for lunch, and were maybe fortunate that it was a quiet day. That being said , the service was outstanding and our table carefully selected to ensure intimacy. While the restaurant is set below street level, sometimes a problem for my partner, the internal decor and lighting overcame any potential problems. All the food was high quality. This included two fish items, two extras , wine, sparkling water and a coffee. The bill came to £83.00

Beautiful food, with precision and executed perfectly. It has been a while since we have been to Gamba due to lack of child care. We started with the tartare with sorbet, absolutely delicious and refreshing. Then with the halibut with a creamy pea jus and truffle potatoes. We booked based of the reviews we had read There was a bit of a mix up with the booking - we were asked to wait at the bar, even though teh restaurant was empty. After half an hour I went and asked about our table, they had forgotten we were there, and nobody had bothered to check with us at the bar Luckily the food made up for this, the menu had good choices, and the dishes were interesting in taste and texture We had a decent bottle of white wine to go with the meal We left the restaurant satisfied, and forgiven

This excellent restaurant has been in business since 1998. It is not cheap but the quality of he experience shows why it has survived for this length of time when most others have not. The cosy atmosphere adds to the charm, and the staff are always lovely. The food? Always amazing. I can't visit without indulging in their seafood soup—it's a must-try, bursting with flavors of crabmeat, ginger, coriander, and those delightful tiny prawn dumplings. On this visit, I opted for the lobster thermidor with chunky chips, and it was exquisite. We wanted to try this place as it has been here a long time and we have never quite got there. First off, service throughout was polite, warm and efficient. The food was good, and tasted great but presentation felt very much 'of it's time' and the menu could generally do with a revamp. Starters are expensive and if anything too big, and the soup was served in a bowl you expect to get in a seafront hotel. Toilets were clean but again felt like you were walking in to a 70s Glasgow pub. The whole concept feels tired and could do with aa refresh of the decor, food presentation and menu.

Have wanted to try Gamba for years but a combination of pandemic and move to Argyll thwarted my efforts. It was worth the wait… Service fantastic the minute you walk through the door. Seated at a table my partner could hear at (as requested on booking) which was much appreciated. Torn between the excellent value Saturday Special menu (2 courses and a glass of wine for £34.50 pp) and a la carte. Opted for former and wasn’t disappointed. Fish soup on both menus and it was packed full of flavour. I had the roasted hake with prawns and tomato chowder whilst my partner had the simply grilled sole. It was pure and one of the tastiest fish dishes we (both) have ever tried and that was without the accompanying chilli, coconut and lime yoghurt. Almond old fashioned to start, wine with meal, port and brandy with coffees (after one delightful sticky toffee pudding) added to the pleasure of the visit. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and the service is very prompt. As you’re taken to your table there is a great atmosphere throughout the restaurant and after you have taken your seat you are brought over water for the table, a canapé to get your taste buds excited and a warm bread roll is offered shortly after your order has been taken. All the food was incredibly fresh and well put together with every bite being just as amazing as the last. Even while the restaurant is full you don’t feel any pressure to finish you meal and leave and are offered more drinks at the table once you are finished your meal. This could easily have been 5 stars. The food was excellent, mostly well presented with great sauces and flavours. We were quite surprised just how good some of these dishes were. The panco breadcrumbed scallop and fish could have had a bit more panache than just some of those portions plus sauce in a bowl and a half lemon, but it tasted good and was perfectly cooked. All were served on hot plates too which was great. Our issue with the restaurant was their wine service. First off, congratulations for having a Gewurztraminer, our favourite and difficult to find in restaurant lists. I don’t know whether the servers are trained to serve early with huge glass fills or not trained. Both are equally bad. Don’t serve the wine and then leave people waiting ages to order food. It was busy so maybe that’s excusable though there was no apology for taking a while. Again maybe too busy. However it’s red rag time when a server tries to pour almost the whole bottle at the first serving even when we said small glasses. The same happened with the second bottle and a different server. Our comments to the server didn’t register. This is either a way of trying to make people drink more or it’s just a lack of training and knowledge. A one third fill in a glass is as much as you should go otherwise you’re losing so much of the nose and flavour.

Have been to Gamba 3 times in the past and on those occasions it would have been awarded 5 star but our latest visit was a downturn in both quality and quantity from previous visits. Starters I chose the smoked salmon which I had before and the difference was very noticeable. The salmon was good but this time it came with a very average potato salad that was bland. Previously the sauce was superb but this time a poor version was served up. Also, the prawns that accompanied it were plentiful but this time I had none. Main courses for us both were OK but again seemed to lack in quality compared to previous visits. Quantity was also poor with the halibut a very small portion. Disappointed with our latest visit and value for money was not good.

Gamba not only serves delicious seafood in a chic environment, but it has been the single most consistent restaurant in the 10+ years we've been visiting it both as a family and with friends. I would unreservedly recommend it to anyone that likes seafood. The food combines a great balance of quality of produce and depth of flavour, the wine list is good albeit a bit pricier than it could be and the welcome cocktails are also delicious. Luxurious fine dining experience in Glasgow. The food was great, and the service fantastic. However, be ready to spend a pretty penny, we spent over 350 pounds for 7 people. We thought that Halibut and the Monk Fish were fantastic, although we would have preferred a tad more Halibut on our dish considering the high price tag. Overall a good experience.

Amazing food and amazing service! We went there with two young kids and the chef kindly did the best fish goujons ever. They were light and soft. The kids loved it. This could have gone pretty wrong and could possibly ruin our evening, dealing with grumpy kids who are not happy with the food, but it turned out to be a very pleasant evening and we all enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Gamba team!

Great little night with family. Food was good and atmosphere was good too. Service was good and in the background and then there when needed.
