This cafe has changed beyond all recognition, & the website does not really indicate it has changed to the extent it actually has; if the info had been more representative of what the food offerings now are we just wouldn't have visited. I can only assume that as with so many businesses, sadly, it has been detrimentally affected by the pandemic & has just changed its whole ethos. If one reads my previous reviews one would not think they were about the same venue. I am so sorry to be so negative, & it is no reflection on the people who work here (I am sure they do the best they can with limited resources) as it was obviously a business decision taken by the cinema owners, but I can't help feeling a chance has been missed not to restore it to what it once was, as I am sure I am not the only person to have discovered it by accident only for it to end up on my definitive 'to do' list whenever I was in the area,

I went yesterday with a friend, I had mushroom/terragon pate which was very nice ...but my friend ordered chef choice of the day ... which was a chicken curry ...imagine to our horror she was eating it she said to me ...this is a ready meal ...i told her not to be so stupid they would never do that....we were both hungry so she ate it ..she said again im telling you that was a ready meal ....i said i dont think they can legally call a ready meal ..chefs choice of the day ... she asked the staff who admitted ...it was a ready meal .....& they had been doing this for a while ....we were gobsmacked ...they gave us a free coffee ...in a paper cup ..not a proper cup! Its a disgrace to charge £7.95 for a ready meal ....& call it the chefs choice .....very misleading...... certainly wont be eating there again ...shame as its local to us & been many times for breakfast.

I went here after the cinema and had sourdough and mushroom pate and tea made with real tea leaves.. the sourdough was lovely but the teapot leaked a bit... My friend had carrot cake and tea. It was very nice and not too expensive. I found the staff very pleasant and it was clean and bright. It was ideally placed next to the cinema itself. It had views of the high street and is near the markets. I would come here again. It did not have toilets but the cinema did of course and they must be what people use. I would go here again when at the cinema.

Been here several times with friends and there is always an issue. The first time the server argued loudly with me when I asked if I had the right drink as the flat white was weak and latte like - I just paid for an extra shot to move it along. On several visits I have noticed the manager lacks basic hospitality and today she actually rolled rolled her eyes as she pushed past us to enter the place - not a smile, a good morning or any sort of welcome, just surly! It’s a shame as it’s a good spot and a great breakfast menu.

Made a point of coming here again for lunch when visiting the market, as we discovered it by accident last year & thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere & delightful guys behind the counter. Menu appears to have been extended, but quality & service excellent as ever, also outstanding value for money. Everything appears homemade, freshly prepared & just so tasty. Filtered water on tap is a nice touch. Just as well my friend's gift shopping in the market was so successful, as we will no doubt come back to Greenwich this time next year & again make a point of having lunch here. Can't recommend highly enough.

We had a cup of tea before a film at the adjoin8ng Pucturehouse cinema and asked about eating after the film. We were assured that the cafe was open until 21.30. We pitched up at about 20.50, and sat at a table, waited for at least 5 minutes whilst being studiously ignored by the chap who had promised us they were open. We finally asked about food and they said NO, WE ARE CLOSED FOR FOOD AND THE CHEF HAS GONE HOME! Customer service, what? I will NEVER go back even if starving. Shame on you.

Visited last week with my wife, and it was fairly busy, we were just queuing to get some drinks and a bite to eat prior to our film when a bald man cut in front of us to place an order! Naturally I was slightly bemused, more so when the staff jumped to make him several drinks and he left without even paying. Maybe he was a boss? Although he left and crossed the street. It was bizarre nonetheless and we both found it rather rude that he was given this treatment in place of us as paying customers- especially when we had already been waiting a good five minutes. The couple behind us didn't look too pleased either!

Looking for somewhere to have a light lunch & had already been turned away from 2 places where a 3 course lunch appeared to be compulsory! Spent some time at the market & looking around the area, so were in need of seating & feeding! Quiet spot, small but delicious menu & very good coffee. Guys behind the counter were a delight. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area, it's slightly off the main drag so less busy than the other places we considered, & probably much less expensive too. A must whenever we're back at the market.

I came with a good friend to have a lovely, quiet eve at Greenwich's picture house cafe called "Galley". There were two women behind the bar serving drinks etc. I ordered two coffees and whilst paying I was shocked at the rudeness at both of them. Unprovoked and yet I received such shocking behaviour. The description I have are: One had brown hair in a bun/ dark features and the other with glasses, smaller in height. Ruined a perfect evening, I just am so utterly shocked. I wouldn't go here, however the Greenwich Picture house is lovely, huge, huge shame about the Cafe attached. Oh dear....Anonymous

I've had a mixed experience here, but won't be returning any time soon. The counter staff are always lovely, the food can be delicious, but the food has issues that concern me. We ordered a bagel with salmon and cream cheese, and a chicken and avocado sandwich, both from the fridge on the counter. Bizarrely, these were taken away to be toasted, even though they were already filled and clearly not meant to be (there were toasties too, labelled as such). Because they were both already filled (including with salad), they were not heated all the way through, and were just odd. More worryingly, my salmon was barely warm, and I sent it back, asking for a cold one, as I had expected it to be. The guy who brought it was very nice, apologised, and said that it was how they did it there, indicating the kitchen. The kitchen where the chef clearly had no concept of food safety regulations. When the cakes are open to the elements and not covered, and food temperature safety is ignored, there is not a chance I will eat there again. Who knows what other regulations they ignore. I'd already ruled out the poached eggs previously, as they come tasting strongly of vinegar. It's such a shame that this is the case, as everything else is there. The serving staff are friendly and welcoming, the coffee is wonderful (and I will continue to grab one to take into a film), but the kitchen issues let them down. It smacks of poor management and training. Other cafes in Greenwich had no tables available at the time we ate here (brunch/lunch time on a Saturday), including a very busy (similar) cafe opposite, but interestingly there was plenty of room here.

Before meeting a friend to see a film at the Greenwich Picturehouse I had realised that I was over an hour early so had some time to kill, so decided on a coffee in the cafe tucked inside the cinema. I was pleasantly surprised, the menu had a wide selection but not too much, the atmosphere is chill, light with big bright windows to watch the world go by, the Northern waiter was fun & helpful, and the breakfast was delicious with perfectly cooked soft poached eggs. Popped in here on the way back home on a Saturday afternoon for a nice lunch out. Really wish we hadn't bothered. It wasn't that busy, and we ordered the eggs Benedict and poached eggs on toast - so basically 4 poached eggs, toasted muffin/bread and some sauce. 10 minutes later, no food. 20 minutes later, no food, 30 minutes later no food. People who came in after us received their order - very poor. We asked if our order was missing, and were told it would be with us soon. There was no shortage of staff - 4 of them behind the counter pottering around. Another 10 minutes and it arrived. The eggs Benedict was cold, and the poached eggs on toast decidedly average and absolutely not worth the prices charged. We live in Greenwich and that's 2 customers who will not be back.

Walking past this place many times I decided to try it out based on the fact that a) it's not one of the big chains taking over Greenwich so worth supporting b) the menu has an all-day breakfast. The food - plenty of pastries and cakes (on display), English breakfast, soups, sandwiches, salads, one or two quiches, so fairly simple. It's hard to get this wrong. Prices are fair. You can order beer and wine as well as coffee, tea and soft drinks. Service - quite fast but NEVER expect a smile, unfortunately (I went 3 times and never got one). In fact, some of the staff are outright unfriendly. Yesterday I witnessed one member of staff taking an order with a frown. The big chain cafe right next to you knows how to do great service, guys, so take a leaf out of their book. The place - nice decor, you usually get a small table easily. Has 4 or 5 baby chairs for little customers. Toilets upstairs in the cinema. All in all, I would recommend it for a try so you can make your own opinion. There is far worse than this place.

Generally the food here can be fairly average or good - rather depending on whether the real chef is on or not. If he isn't then there is a fair chance the food will be poorly prepared. The coffee needs a lot of work, the beans are not great and the preparation is bad - very little crema and very bitter. There are better places to source your coffee from guys and I'm sure someone knows about grind size?!Sad because it's a nice spot to watch greenwich go by.

After having a really bad experience in the past in this place, when it was a Tapas bar, I hadn't been back for ages. Yesterday my husband and I decided to give it a go in its new incarnation and it was not entirely a good experience. Starting with the positives: the place is clean, the food fresh and the cakes on display look very good, although we did not try any.No complaints with the quality of the food but the portions are really mean.We wanted a light lunch and light it was, for real! We came out hungry. My husband ordered soup of the day, which was Sweetcorn soup. It was a decent size bowl but came with two thin slices of bread. The flavour was excellent and the bread good quality, but the bread portion was really mean.I had a mushroom and spinach tart with side salad. Again, fresh, tasty, but tiny, with a pinch of salad on the side. Then we shared a tofu and quinoa salad, and this is really the reason that prompted me to write a review. What a total and utter ripoff. It came in a very large bowl so it gave the impression of quantity, but it was a miserably mean portion, three thin slices of tasteless, lukewarm grilled tofu placed on a sparse bed of salad leaves, the sort you get in a bag in the supermarket. The quinoa could not have been more than a tablespoonful, just a few grains hidden under the salad. All this was topped (for want of a better word) with a smidgen of hummus. This was meant to be a main course, and it cost just short of £8. It would not have fed a sparrow.I asked the waitress for some dressing and she replied that the salad had already been dressed (it had not, or if it had it was another very mean quantity).Which brings me to the service, which was sullen and indifferent, to the point that we chose not to leave a tip, which is really unusual for us.After our Picturehouse 10% discount the bill came to £15 something, and we left hungry. We could not help but compare with the previous week, when with less than £15 we ate fit to burst at the Jamie Oliver cafe nearby, sharing a really generous main course salad full of decent food, not just a few fluffy leaves, with two substantial side dishes AND a half pint.Sorry but won't be back.

Cafe is new and attached to the Green Picturehouse cinema. Only went in cos I was about to go into a movie. I was starving, didn't want popcorn and there was no time to go anywhere else. It used to be a ghastly Spanish Tapas place called Taperia. Now it is a cheap and cheerful cafe/restaurant/bar. I had only fifteen minutes before the movie. Ordered the special - goats cheese, beetroot and walnut salad. It was ready in five. Big bowl, brimming with fresh ingredients. They'd even toasted the walnuts to give a better flavour. Also had some cheese and bread and a lemongrass and ginger tea, made with big chunks of fresh ginger and a bunch of lemongrass. Utterly delicious. Waiting staff were warm and enthusiastic. Best meal I've had out anywhere this year and it was all quite by chance. The film was pretty good too. Good option even if you aren't seeing a movie.

The staff at the Newbury store bully there own staff and individual customers, there managers dont give a toss about welfare or health of individuals there only care about making turn over profits, they keep there store unclean, and they take on food orders, when they don’t have the staff to deal with it.
