Gallery Art and Coffee Shop in Carmarthenshire

I’ve been walking past here every day and have always wanted to go in, the art on the walls always gets my attention. This week we decided to go for lunch, had a jacket potato and it was delicious, nice and fluffy with plenty of beans and cheese, the staff were really friendly too. Food was slightly pricey for a work lunch break, but everything is now! Will definitely go back soon.

Went in for a coffee just to break the day up. Thought the girl was polite enough, I went and I was told immediately by her 'are you with the age society' or something to that effect, and I said no, then they replied with I had to leave 'sorry as this is a private function'? IT'S A COFFEE SHOP FOR GOD'S SAKE, I was so gobsmacked, what is it with this place?? Are they just making rules up?? They need to get over themselves. A few times I have felt unwelcome there. Like to remind you when they close, or if you even have time there. 8/10 times they have made my serivce there quite uncomfortable.

Staff always seem miserable, there is little flexibility and too regimented. For example you have state how many sugars you want and they are handed to you . Staff are quick to tell you how much time you to drink/eat which makes you feel that you’re an inconvenience. I wonder who drives this atmosphere? Usually a rigid manager. Otherwise food is good as is coffee, they just need to develop their customer service. I’ve visited many times since it opened and it’s been the same

Nice atmosphere, gentle background music, lovely coffee with perfect cappuccino froth but ….. What? No chocolate sprinkled on top???? Disappointing to have to order from the table, especially when in view of the delay in placing my order

No downstairs toilet working. Explained that me and my 90 year old mum cannot make it upstairs. Asked to use downstairs staff toilet. Asked if they would oblige making reasonable adjustments for us both being disabled. Staff refused. No apology. Couldn't care less attitude. Will never go in here again. The worst customer service ever.

I paid £5.50 for this!and it was a takeaway. I was in a rush and had to eat something quickly. If you have any common sense or understand the value of money, then don't waste your time. Off to Jenkins next time 🙃

As a regular customer at the gallery, I was pleased when they reopened after lockdown. Cannot fault the social distancing measures or the quality of food, but I felt I had to write this review after today's lunchtime visit. On arrival, we willingly gave our details for track and trace purposes and were shown to the last remaining downstairs table and advised that we only had the table for an hour. Given that we were planning on having lunch and a catch up, this seemed a little brief. An elderly couple who arrived a few minutes afterwards, decided to go elsewhere on seeing that there were no downstairs tables available. Despite my friend and I offering to go upstairs so that the elderly couple could be seated downstairs, we were told that they didn't want to open upstairs! Why advertise upstairs seating if you don't want to use it? After eating our lunch, my friend and I decided to have another coffee and cake and admittedly we lost track of time chatting away when a waitress came up to us and told us that we had exceeded our hour timeslot - by this stage, the lunchtime rush was over, they were closing within the hour and there was no queue. I always try and support local businesses but they really need to have some flexibility - can they afford to be turning away custom or making customers feel uncomfortable during these uncertain times?

Me and my family look this cafe . My husband loves the Cawl they serve and they also make lovely paninis . The cafe is very clean and welcoming and have lots of little bits and bobs to purchase . As for the previous review , saying they won’t return as they don’t allow dogs .... Well I’m glad they don’t allow dogs , I don’t want to be eating food with animals around me . Go to a cafe with an outdoor seating area if you want to take your pets :)

Very unwelcoming and stuck-up atmosphere, I was told dogs are not allowed because they have art work by different artists, which must be the most stupid and ridiculous excuses I have heard. I will not be returning nor will I buy any art work from there. I would not recommend such an unfriendly and unwelcoming place.

I came into the gallery with my well-behaved, friendly little dog and was told that I could not bring him in because there were "art works by different artists on display"! This has to be the lamest excuse I have ever heard for not allowing dogs. Well I too have a dog policy - I will not frequent an establishment that does not allow dogs nor will purchase anything from them. I will not be returning, with or without my dog!

A few interesting photos on display but the main attraction must be the coffee and cake! A good choice of large, moist slices.

The gallery is a lovely little coffee shop. Clean and lovely coffee its just a shame about the service from cettain staff members. I went in with my partner today, we waited at the counter for a fair while before we were served and when we were the staff member was very rude and abrubt, like we were an inconvenience. She was a young ish girl with dark hair and glasses. It wasn't busy so there wasn't a need for us to be waiting as long as we did. This is not the first time we've been here or the first time we have been met with rudness from this particular member of staff but it seems like nothing is being done so unfortunately it may be the last. It's a shame because we love the coffee and the food but the service could be better.

We visit here quite often. It's a lovely little place with fantastic fresh food and delicious homemade cakes. The only let down are the staff... One in particular, youngish dark haired girl with glasses. She is just so rude, never a simple hello, or any sort of greeting really. Only once she has ever spoken to us politely and that was when the owner had been sitting down in the seating area, she really is quite off-putting. If it wasn't for the fact it's one of the nicer coffee shops in the town centre we would avoid it.

Very cold and in need of a bite to eat we popped in here for lunch, very nice hot panini and good chips, coffee only in small thick cups and not very hot. Staff were very busy but polite, bought some lovely Xmas decorations on the way out, will definitely visit again.

Me encontré esta pequeña joya recientemente he estado volviendo sobre una base regular para trabajar a través de la maravillosa selección de tartas caseras precioso! Puedo recomendar especialmente la tarta de frambuesa y amaretto o la esponja y, bueno, ¿por qué no victoria naranja polenta tarta que era mágicamente humedo!Galería es un pedazo de centro de la ciudad de Llanelli no te saldría que sólo puedo describir como tranquila, limpia y refrescante! Una experiencia fantástica y muy recomendable. Bueno para comprar regalos también.

All the staff are most pleasant and we have come to know many of them by their first name. The coffee is always quite strong although at busy times, could be hotter.

I do enjoy the food here but the attitude from staff can leave you feeling unwelcome. I work hard in my job and for a lunchtime break visit, it would feel nice to go back to work in high spirits.

I came here with a friend for tea. I also ordered a cake. The drinks were good and the atmosphere was relaxing. The service was lacking, no smile, and one staff member was abrupt when answering questions. I would call again though due to the drinks/food.

Been here a few items always lovely and friendly food is quick so good on your hour lunch. Lovely paninis and very reasonable as well. Chips nice too 😋

Visité la galería con mi madre o de la pareja, ya que la comida es siempre deliciosa y los precios son razonables para el bien, deliciosos platos caseros. La comida es tradicional, de buena calidad y las porciones son de un tamaño razonable. El edificio es un poco pequeña, y asientos pueden ser bastante acogedor con otros clientes si ocupado. El ambiente es tranquilo y relajante, normalmente con muchas obras preciosas de arte y escultura para examinar durante toda su visita. En resumen, la Galería fue mi ir a cafetería en Llanelli no te saldría. Las veces que he visitado, sin embargo, hemos encontrado que el personal tome las órdenes y les lleve a la mesa para ser bastante poco acogedora. Había un esfuerzo mínimo para saludarnos e intercambiar robot (por supuesto que pueden haber sido ocupado, pero puede ser una respuesta rápidamente) amablemente. Mientras no grosero el servicio fue sin duda abruptos que es una lástima como nuestras visitas almuerzo sienta como una imposición en el personal, y esto nos hace tener la intención de volver.

Con una maravillosa tienda de café anexo. Hay una amplia selección de paninis, sándwiches y sopa y una perfecta variedad de tortas. El café en sí tiene un ambiente moderno y el personal es muy agradable. Las paredes están decoradas con hermosas obras de arte que da al lugar su propio toque individual. En general, es un maravilloso lugar para comer o una tarta y posiblemente el mejor lugar en el centro de la ciudad de Llanelli no te saldría por la comida.

La Galería es uno de los pocos cafés en Llanelli no te saldría decente. El personal es siempre muy acogedor, atento y amable. El café es de una calidad excepcional (aunque no soy fan de los granos illy utilizan) y la comida caliente debe clasificar como unas de las mejores de la ciudad.

My wife and I visited today just for a quick coffee the place was quiet as it was Monday morning. nice clean and bright next visit I hope I will have a piece of cake. I would recommend a visit.

Whenever I'm in Llanelli I go here for coffee and cake. Occasionally if I am with my partner, we will have lunch too.The cake is the best ever. Coffee varies from OK to very creamy and good (we always have a latte). One thing that spoils it is the staff. Male and female. On more than one occasion I have stood at the counter where one or more of them are busy sorting out orders. It's just as though I'm invisible. There's no "I'll be with you in a few moments" or any such dialogue. Then, when they are ready, it's almost a "what do you want" type attitude.Today was a typical example. They didn't have the cake I liked so I opted for just a coffee on this occasion. He took my order with no eye contact, smile, or even to say it would be brought over to my table. I know how it works there so I just went to sit down.A female member of staff brought my coffee. I said " thanks very much, that's great". No response whatsoever from her.I sat at the front near the counter so it was obvious when I was getting up to leave. Again, no "thank you, bye bye" or any acknowledgement that I'd even been there. The cafe wasn't busy so it wasn't like they were distracted with many orders to fulfill.This isn't the first time this has happened. We're very tempted not to go again. I understand it's a church run organisation, donating profit to charitable causes. Admirable. Not so admirable if it loses potential profit through customers not returning.I/we don't expect, nor want, fuss or gushing but we do expect to feel that we are valued customers, wherever we go to have coffee or lunch or dinner. I'm afraid that's not the case here.

Always welcoming staff and premises are spotlessly clean. Only popped in for a coffee and piece of delicious home made cake, I've never had more than that here but food always looks great and well presented.

i like going here while in town, nice food and coffee but they dont take food orders until after 2:30, which i find silly. however i love the artwork and the upstairs section.

We enjoy going here when we are in town. Unfortunately Llanelli Stepney St is not what it was with hardly a proper shop along its length.This cafe is an Oasis of calm. The staff are unfailingly friendly, the cakes are home made and the coffe lovely. Not the fastest service, but then this is no McD.

Called here today for coffee. Order was taken quite quickly but even though the place wasnt really busy the drinks took ages to come. It was nice and hot when it came but very overpriced for a small cup of coffee.Tables are very close together to and if you are trying to have a chat the people on the next table can hear every word and vice versa.There is alot of overpriced paintings and nik naks around the place too. All in all an experience i wont be repeating

Called in for a bite to eat and a coffee, ( 10:45 am) ,there were 6 tables uncleared ,I cleared a table to sit down and ordered from the menus on the blackboard ,they could not accept an order until 11:30 am ,not good for business I thought, so ordered coffee and a piece of cake ,it arrived about 20 mins later ,nice but the coffee should have been warmer,in the meantime,staff were taking orders to tables and walking past several times and did not attempt to clear the uncleared tables,if the owner was present,I would have had a word ,not a very inviting situation ,staff although pleasant, clearly need some leadership !!

Called in on the night of the carnival so quite busy, the place was nice and clean , friendly staff, lovely shop when you enter with lots of Christmas stuff on sale, didn't try the cakes but all looked very nice - would defo return. Decent cup of coffee too, average price.

Adorable café en el centro de Llanelli con una amplia variedad de bebidas y comida. La atención es de lo mejor, personas cálidas y amables. La ambientación se lleva el premio, está decorado con sumo buen gusto, ya que una de sus dueñas es experta en esto. Lleno de arte en un ambiente cómodo y distendido.

Muy buen café en especial el capuccino que era excelente (con la pequeña pega de que no ponen cacao espolvoreado por encima) ...los dulces también excelente y el personal muy atento

This is a lovely café, run by a local church as a charity, with a very pretty gift shop. There is additional seating upstairs so don't be put off if it looks busy.

Stopped for coffee during trip to South West Wales. Good service, art gallery very interesting. Brilliant coffee and sandwiches. Facilities exceptional

Myself and a friend go here regularly for our weekly catch up. The coffee is lovely and the cakes are irresistible, and I'm not the biggest cake fan, Place is immaculate and service is quick, only fault I could say is that the art isn't updated very often, Id like to see something new when I visit :)

Only popped in for a coffee and found a clean open light and welcoming little coffee shop. I liked the entrance through a small area with art / craft items for sale. The staff were friendly and there was a good range of tempting cakes on display - the menu board looked half decent as well. Delicious coffee and I shall return to try the food.

The food is fantastic toast is fab the sandwiches are excellent to look and taste the homemade cakes are so moorish I can recommend the lattes

This is a very nice and well presented cafe which is of a higher standard than average. There is a good choice of food which is served very nicely. Complimentary olives are sometimes offered while you wait. Food is tasty and well cooked. Staff are polite and very attentive, they seem to be well trained. The only drawback is that there is not much seating downstairs especially for a party of more than two. I believe the business and profits would greaten if they took away a bit of the craft sales bit and put another two tables or so in place as more often than not when I visit there is no room and we have to go elsewhere and not many people seem to be buying craft goods. There is seating available upstairs but it is not as pleasent and downstairs and not suitable for pushchairs.

Had lunch here whilst staying in Llanelli. Lovely venue with gifts and paintings to look at . Quality of food was excellent. Great service and when next in the area will go back.

Really nice coffee and some lovely cakes and deserts on offer. They are very friendly and it is always lovely and clean.

This place is a breath of fresh air in a town centre which has been in decline for some years. Outstanding level of cleanliness, wonderful arts and crafts by local artists/craftsmen and amazing cakes (especially the orange and raspberry polenta cake). To top it all Illy coffee. This place has my top marks.

Really enjoy going here for our coffee and cake. It is such a treat as all cakes are home made and mouthwatering. The only problem is choosing which one to have ,but we are never disappointed. The coffee is very nice but expensive because it is in a smaller cup than you usually gat . We love browsing in the little craft area and the cafe is always spotlessly clean. Love it

Had an early lunch here today , just a coffee and sandwiches with salad. Absolutely the nicest coffee shop in Llanelli . The decor is great the art gallery fantastic, the gift shop brilliant and the service fanatstic.

We recently went as a large party to the Gallery Art and Coffee Shop for coffee and cake as a family birthday celebration. This place is a gem in the centre of Llanelli, with delicious and unusual homemade cakes alongside Illy coffee beautifully served. The rooms are light and airy, and showcase a range of art works, many of which are by local artists. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The lunch menu looked very appealing too, especially the mozorella paninis.

I come here at least once a fortnight. Service is always eexcellent and very friendly. Great selection of food and the cakes are to die for, especially the coconut cake and lemon drizzle cake. It can be a little pricey but the food is freshly made and the customers are mostly retired or people on their working lunch break. The art and ornaments on sale there are of local artists and very individual. One of the nicer places to eat in Llanelli Town which unfortunately has seen better days.

I adore this place. Such a refreshing vibe from the usual gloom of this town. I often go here on my lunch break for some cawl as it is delicious and the cakes are amazing. Staff are always friendly,polite and helpful.

A great find in this 'not so pretty' town. The gallery display's a veriaty of interesting local art of a good quality. The coffee was very well made and the home made cakes irrisistable.Whilst in Llanelli this cafe will definatly be a regular stop off for a chill and to meet with friends.

If you are into art you will love the deco I enjoy sitting upstairs very shabby chic - coffee and food lush !! Also the staff are pleasant.

Ive been here a few times,food and staff are very good. I returned a couple times with a pushchair & once i was glared@by sum of the staff&customers &i felt totally in the way,next time i was told there was no room so i left and went elsewhere. Great cafe but think the layout could be improved for pushchairs or wheelchairs.x

I've had coffee in many places and I don't think I've had better anywhere and the cakes are beautiful. I've sampled many. The art that is all relatively locally created is amazing. Great place. And I'm told that it's run by a local church trying to create jobs. Well done!

Nice venue in town for a coffee, a snack and more.the art on the wall gives a nice background.Its sometimes very busy and the tables a bit close together to have a private chat or meet business colleagues for coffee, a victim of its own success!

Well worth a visit - good range of art work - plenty to look at whilst eating/drinking there. The staff are friendly and helpful. The temptation is to buy some cards or art work. The cakes are particularly delicious and their coffee is well worth a try. Its a welcome addition to Llanelli. It brightens up that end of Stepney street.

I have been frequenting the gallery now for what must be 3 months ( just after christmas ) but unlike the festive period with all the associated gifts, the novelty has certainly not worn off with this cafe, in fact it's excelled itself ! It's got refreshing coffee a spotless environment, wide choice of snacks & homemade cakes ~ which are fab. My mum who has not been too good of late tries her best to attend as often as she can & enjoys, in her words, "THE BEST WELSH CAWL EVER !" Full marks & credit to all the hard working & friendly staff who make our visits enjoyable & special !

We went in a couple of weeks ago on a chilli day, the sort when your bones are cold! We both had their hot chocolate and hadn't intended to have anything to eat, but the cakes looked too tempting and they were very tasty. Clearly home-made too and really fresh. The price was reasonable too. Can't remember exactly how much but didn't make me gasp. The hot chocolate was not instant stuff that I can make better at home either. If I have to think of a fault it would be that the service was a little bit... 'wet'. The cakes did sell themselves which was just as well, even when I asked for a description, the guy was a bit reluctant to communicate. But definitely worth a vist and we will go back. and my bones warmed up too.

Working in Llanelli, I have walked past the Gallery everyday meaning to check out the food, but with so many new eateries in the Town, this little gem can easily be missed. It was a lovely change from the usual big chain restaurant or greasy spoons in the area. Although not a large venue, the decor of beautiful art, which you are able to purchase and gifts was a lovely surprise. It looked rather full when I visited, but the helpful young man on the gift counter informed me that there was also seating areas upstairs. The whole area seemed bright and fresh with a modern twist. Now to the food. The choice was good, panini's, soups, salads etc all freshly made and served by a very cheerful young lady. Their desserts were also really lovely, homemade and fantastic flavours. Price wise, I paid around £5-£6 for a cheese/ham panini with a large hot chocolate. I would recommend this lovely little establishment and hope it doesn't get lost among the crowd of places to eat.

A really lovely place to visit especially if you love cake! The cakes here have to be seen to be believed, fabulous! A wonderful selection and all homemade. I would also recommend the homemade soup, delicious and great value for money.It is as it says a gallery of local art with pictures adorning the walls, all for sale. In addition there is a showcase for local artists to display jewellery and other items. A good place to go and browse, relax and chill.Always visit most weekends with my partner. Has never been a disappointment.Highly recommended!

This cafe is beautifully decorated and has lovely art and gifts for sale but that's where it ends! They serve Illy coffee which is usually quite nice but it tasted awful here and was served in very small awkward to hold cups. I had the cawl which was overly salty and with very little meat, the bread was ok. The bara brith was dry and tasteless! The staff looked bored, not much energy or personality at all! A below average experience!

I have on a few occasions had brunch here and each time I have enjoyed what I have had.Recommendable.

The food is of a high standard, as is the coffee. There is none finer than illy! There are at least 6 different choices of homemade cakes or goodies to choose from at any time, which is not an easy task! You can tell it is popular as it is always full of people, but they do keep the upstairs open so there is always seating. I appreciate the mix of different artwork and gifts they have available for purchase, and there is always something there I fancy! The staff all work very hard.

Without doubt this is Llanelli's premier coffee shop, standing well apart from the usual smattering of sub-standard venues in the town centre. The quality of the [illy] coffee is unparalleled; honestly the BEST coffee available anywhere in Llanelli. The food is equally impressive, with a wide selection of seasonal and freshly prepared light-lunches/meals on offer at reasonable prices. The staff are clearly well trained, friendly and extremely helpful. The service is quick and reliable. As the name suggests, Gallery has more to offer than just good food and coffee. Local artists and crafts-people display and sell their work here. It is a treat to relax and unwind surrounded by incredible works of art. This also makes Gallery an ideal place to look for gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas or for any occasion. At last a coffee shop that offers something fresh and unique for Llanelli.

Great coffee, great food, great people.....and the art work is pretty good too! When it's cold and wet in the street outside, there's no better place to be in Llanelli than tucking into a panini and latte servrd up by the friendly people at the Gallery.

This Coffee Shop is like no other. Positioned In the main street in Llanelli the clean fresh interior is crisp clean and toped with a welcome second to none. The staff are pleasent and a credit to the Church they represent. There is a list of events to be held over the Christmas period that would make any organisation proud of. This venture deserves all the credit that they deserve to open a Coffee Shop and Art Gallery to serve the people of Llanelli a WARM WELSH WELCOME.I hope they will become as famous as the motor car spare wheel that was invented in the same street. My mum suffers from lapses and she had one on this day, we took her into the cafe so she could have tome to come to, I explained to the staff and they were fab, they brought her a glass of water, but were very discrete. We stated for a latte which was very welcome and which my mum thoroughly enjoyed once she came round

Nice, modern, good coffee and a friendly welcome. Well placed in the centre of town. They also sell goods - jewellery etc. I was in a hurry, but I'll visit again and have a good look around.
