First time visit staff very professional Sunday lunch very nice good quality.

We have lived in the Hendy area for some years and are very keen for this pub to be successful as its right on our doorstep. We hadn't eaten there for a few years due to previous bad experiences but have eaten there twice now in the last 3 weeks. The positive over the two visits was that the food we had (hanging kebabs) were excellent. The main negative was that the table service was not good at all. Our first visit was with a large family group who were eager for drinks etc, however we had to go to the bar ourselves on most occasions. The service was poor before our food but after our main course it stopped completely, most of the group wanted desserts and coffee however it became clear that wasn't going to happen and so I attended the bar and paid for our meal before leaving. We decided to try it again a couple of weeks later, however our second visit was similar to the first with apparently noone regularly serving or clearing tables in the restaurant area. I dont expect to be waited on hand and foot but i do expect not to have to get up and cue at a bar everytime i want something. If you can get the service right you'll have a regular customer in me as the food was very good and in fairness the staff were lovely when we did eventually get served

Visited restaurant on Thursday with four friends, we were the only people in the restaurant thought oh no not a good sign! Asked for a number of dishes on the menu which were all sold out as the waitress said they were having trouble with their supplies. All 5 of our meals were tasteless, dry, the pasta dish wasn’t cooked as stated in a sauce like stated on the menu, the cheesecake was frozen, will never return here again.

Great atmosphere, the staff welcoming and helpful, a few little teething problems,but well managed. Outstanding food. Recommend.

Went yesterday for sunday lunch, enjoyed it, great food and lovely service from the polish girl, sorry didnt catch her name, made us welcome.

This pub has a big sign outside saying food served daily from 12/noon - this is what drew me inside. However, when I went inside I was told food would only start being served at 5pm. I was looking forward to a nice pub lunch and am very disappointed and hungry

We come here often - sometimes just the two of us, sometimes with our dogs and often with our 5 children. We always get such a warm welcome, service is always excellent and the food is really, really good everytime! Thank you Alisha, Brooklyn and the team at Black Horse! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Excellent service. Food was a bit bland, pasta needed a bit more smoked bacon, it tasted of cream but not much else, but fabulous garlic bread and side salad with balsamic vinegar. Good size portions, will come again to try something different.

Great night on a Friday live music in the bar area still serve food up restaurant area. Food usually pretty good although we didn't eat tonight. Bar staff are friendly and not long queues at the bar. Clean and tidy everytime I been here. Toilets are clean and tidy only negative is the toilet door locks are broken. Well worth a visit here.

Very enjoyable, food was really good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful .a good atmosphere .food was hot and good presentation ,good portion size .We will return to try the hanging kebabs!! Ample parking behind the pub.

We called in as we'd had a good meal a few years ago. Sunday - Menu is limited to Sunday dinner. Which was fine . Food was at our table within 15 mins of ordering which was great, especially when you have starving children :) The food was delicious, the waitress and bar staff were very welcoming, which made for a good dining experience. My only Criticism would be that that the food could have been warmer, the plate was warm and individual items like Potatoes were hot , but the veg / gravy were not hot, only just warm . Also not everyone likes sprinkles of Herbs on their dinner, maybe leave those off or ask. We'd dine again, maybe try a mid week

Visited for a drink and decided to have Sunday Lunch. We have visited before for a drink whilst walking our dog. The music was loud but what we didn't expect was poor service behind the bar, only one person serving to a very busy pub, then when the rugby came on the queue for the bar was nearly out of the door, at least 5 deep!!!! The volume was turned up to the point where a couple sat by us complained and when a member of staff approached us to check if the food was ok, we too complained and asked them to turn it down, which they said they couldn't. I love watching any sport but when I couldn't even hear my husband talking to me across the table, it became really stupid. There was no pre warning to say the game was on.

Great pub , great meals , great atmosphere, we will keep coming back, Staff are super friendly and great at their jobs, especially joseph , Brooklin and Maddie , top lads ! Place wouldn't be the same without them

We were welcomed by happy staff and ordered drinks at the bar. They helped me choose a wine and offered details such as the region. We then we had booked a table and we were taken to our table straight away and they proactively took our drinks for us. The waitress knew the menu very well and told us about the specials and the offers that were on that evening (free dessert of choice with some main meals on a Tuesday) We booked this restaurant as my partner wanted to try the burger although he was tempted by other options. The waitress took note of his request to have the bacon cooked extra crispy. I often order Cajun chicken but saw they did a hanging keebab and then saw that Cajun chicken was one of the options. My decision was made instantly, I didn’t need to read any more of the menu. There was a choice of chunky chips or skinny fries and we both selected an option each. The food was amazing and presented well. I was so glad I had picked the keebab as it was so good. The side salad was lovely and full. The burger was cooked just as my partner had asked. We had starters and desserts also and all were excellent. All the staff were happy and interactive and very attentive. The atmosphere was very relaxed and positive. We would highly recommend and would definitely visit again.

Was recommended this place by a friend.wish I hadn't bothered. We called on a Friday lunch time. No light bites menu available.I had pie and mash the pie was like a brick and the mash was either smash or frozen it was like sponge with rubber around the edges. My mum had the steak kebab with 4 small slices of steak and mushrooms which looked like they had been in the fridge for 6 weeks. Peppercorn sauce had a whole pot of peppercorns poured into gravy.

I remember this pub and how it was a few years back so I wasn’t expecting anything special, however kudos to the team who are now at the pub as it is worlds away from where it used to be. The pub is nice and inviting with a friendly team. The pub has had a very tasteful refurbishment and a very inviting log burner great for the cold winter nights. Myself and a few friends had the Christmas menu and it didn’t disappoint. The food was lovely with very generous portions, which I felt a bit guilty as I wasn’t able to finish it all. They have a nice selection of drinks that are reasonably priced. I would be more than happy to go back. Very nice pub with a great team. I hope this pub is here for many years to come.

We booked a table for two on Friday 10th November. My wife advised them that she has an acute wheat gluten allergy. We arrived and were shown to a table and given menus. We asked for a gluten free menu, but they don't do one. My wife asked what food on the menu was gluten free as nothing was marked up. It was suggested to her that she could have the pie, salad or curry. The pie was not gluten free and may have killed her. The obvious lack of knowledge and training given to the staff makes this establishment a danger to allergy sufferers, and contravenes the food catering regulations set by the FSA . Not one item on the menu was listed as GF, but if you are vegan or vegetarian you are well catered for. Very poor. We will not be visiting again!!.

Came here for lunch on a Thursday, it was a really friendly atmosphere and the food was clearly homemade and full of flavour. Good choice on the taps and they do warm scratchings which were a treat!

We came here for dinner on a Friday - we were sat quickly and the man who sat us was nice enough. We asked for an allergy menu and were told that there wasn’t one but he would ask the chef. He came back about 5 minutes later and said that the chef said I could two things but he’d forgotten what they were so went back to the kitchen. Another 5 minutes later he came back and said that I could eat the fish, scampi or the Lasagne, I asked him about the smaller bites and he said “no just the lasagne that has a little bit of (my allergy)” … “a little bit…” If I hadn’t had asked a further question and chosen the lasagne then I would have eaten something I am allergic to because they deemed that “a little bit” was fine. Completely unacceptable, completely irresponsible, I will not be attending again. I suggest the restaurant get an allergy menu and train all their staff in the 14 major allergens and the effect they have on those they affect.

Good pint of peroni and a good welcome. How times change, 2 years on, you try to order a Vodka lemonade to be told no lemonade even though shop just around corner. Pathetic way to run business.

Excellent pub grub served by friendly, fun people in a lovely local pub. It's not fancy but it's very tasty and the portions are generous too! Exactly what you want with your pint!

Food was dreadful. Waited over an hour and it was all cold. Had two dishes heated up but didn’t bother with the other two as we had waited so long. Steak was so hard and chewy that it was inedible. Will not be returning.

I came to the black horse for my first anniversary meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We stayed for a drink and chat the staff were lovely and we had a good time

We wanted to try the Black since the new menu was launched. There were 5 in our party and we all went for the beef dinner. The beef was cooked to perfection and we had very friendly and attentive waiting staff. We will definitely be back.

Excellent bar and restaurant service, the food was amazing! The hanging kebabs are second to none! Welcoming and friendly atmosphere and the weekend entertainment is absolutely fantastic. Would recommend everyone one to visit.

After being shut for 2 months for refurb. The Black has reopened with a new landlady. The staff were excellent and the food was absolutely delicious and great value for money. Will definitely be back to sample the rest of the Menu.

Visited with friends, the amount of food you get will fill the most insatiable appetite!! Lovely quality, great staff! Friendly and inviting atmosphere. Would give more stars if I could!!

Went there on Monday for my birthday a group of 10 and the service was excellent and the meals delicious. Highly recommended and well worth a visit.

Had a couple of drinks and ate here for the first time since it changed hands. The service was excellent, very warm and welcoming. And the food was outstanding. I will definitely be going back soon.

One of the few proper pubs left in Pontarddulais and surrounding area. Most have either closed or been turned into restaurants. Good selection of beers and wines, and also serve food. I just drank so can't comment on that. Run by hard working and friendly people who were nearly forced out by the greedy brewery putting up the rent because they've made a success of it. We'll done in standing up to them. I will be using your facilities again.

Called in for a Guinness on a Thursday evening around tea time. Good atmosphere, nice pint.

As Weatherspoons go all look the same in the bar our room was spotless we upgraded and had a settee as well as a super king-size bed great sleep very comfy

Absolutely lovely place and the owner is a really nice bloke went today 3rd of September I had burger the wife had lasagne my food was OK the wife's lasagne was terrible I have seen mor meat on a vegetarian breakfast service was OK apart from that it wasok staff just need more training that's all

We visit our loca on a regular basis. The food is fantastic. We were lucky enough to have the Pork Belly special the other night wow it was amazing cant fault the service staff are so friendly

I wouldn't even let mydog eat here that's how unsatisfied I was with the food . The portion size for the chips is ridiculous considering they were £3.50 . My cousin had a toasties that wasn't even toasted properly and the salad that went with it was not fresh at all . Also they had a lot of food items missing off the menu . Also the service was awful and the barman / waiter was so unprofessional and rude .Would not recommend it here at all .

The staff and owners at the Black Horse Inn are amazing! The food was great. Burger was really fresh and meaty. Lovely pub with some comfy seats and an outdoor bit too. I hear the themed nights and quiz are great, I'll be back for those!

We popped in on their opening day for a quick recce. The new landlords have decorated in a lovely, contemporary style, with comfortable sofas, as well as your standard tables and chairs. We had a quick look at the menu, which seems to have something for everyone, but didn't actually see anything coming out of the kitchen to gawk at (though here were people in the dining area).

We ate here on Mother’s Day, my son having checked there were Gluten Free options as my wife is a diagnosed coeliac. The starter was fine, she had pate which came with GF bread. We all ordered the burger for the main course. Ours came with chips, my wife’s was presented as a burger on the plate with some salad. When we asked about it we were told there was no GF free rolls and it does not come with chips, which we were not told when ordering. Some roast potatoes were suggested as a substitute. Subsequently discovered them on the bill. The desserts were good, but even allowing for it being Mother’s Day the service was erratic. All in all very disappointed

Booked for food and drinks, to be told we had 5 minutes to order. Great start! All Staff had a terrible attitude. Would have preferred for you not to be there as if it was an inconvenience that you were there paying there wages. Food was raw and now every person is throwing up today. Awful experience, AVOID at all costs. Never leave bad reviews but this needed to be done!

Well what a discusting meal. Considering its not long been taken over by Marstons and under new management then what a terrible job has been done. First served potato skins. Basically a jacket potato with bacon. Very dry and tasteless. Then comes the main course, over cooked burger. The lettuce looks like it has even been cooked. Avoid until it improves.

Excellent meal and service. Will visit again.

One of the best burgers I've had & I love my burgers! Will be back..... *edit* Been back a number of times now, the steak on a Friday night was one of the best I've ever tasted.
