Very enjoyable, food was really good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful .a good atmosphere .food was hot and good presentation ,good portion size .We will return to try the hanging kebabs!! Ample parking behind the pub.

Clean nice pub. Pleasant staff. Had Sunday lunch -- excellent nicely cooked plenty of meat and veg very tasty. Puds very nice too 👍😁 Will be returning soon.

Onion rings came with a beautiful salad curry was tasty and all food came out hot.

We called in as we'd had a good meal a few years ago. Sunday - Menu is limited to Sunday dinner. Which was fine . Food was at our table within 15 mins of ordering which was great, especially when you have starving children :) The food was delicious, the waitress and bar staff were very welcoming, which made for a good dining experience. My only Criticism would be that that the food could have been warmer, the plate was warm and individual items like Potatoes were hot , but the veg / gravy were not hot, only just warm . Also not everyone likes sprinkles of Herbs on their dinner, maybe leave those off or ask. We'd dine again, maybe try a mid week

we where a party of 19 who had a warm welcome and all 19 enjoyed their promptly served varied meals a nice afternoon

Great pub , great meals , great atmosphere, we will keep coming back, Staff are super friendly and great at their jobs, especially joseph , Brooklin and Maddie , top lads ! Place wouldn't be the same without them

Was recommended this place by a friend.wish I hadn't bothered. We called on a Friday lunch time. No light bites menu available.I had pie and mash the pie was like a brick and the mash was either smash or frozen it was like sponge with rubber around the edges. My mum had the steak kebab with 4 small slices of steak and mushrooms which looked like they had been in the fridge for 6 weeks. Peppercorn sauce had a whole pot of peppercorns poured into gravy.

We booked a table for two on Friday 10th November. My wife advised them that she has an acute wheat gluten allergy. We arrived and were shown to a table and given menus. We asked for a gluten free menu, but they don't do one. My wife asked what food on the menu was gluten free as nothing was marked up. It was suggested to her that she could have the pie, salad or curry. The pie was not gluten free and may have killed her. The obvious lack of knowledge and training given to the staff makes this establishment a danger to allergy sufferers, and contravenes the food catering regulations set by the FSA . Not one item on the menu was listed as GF, but if you are vegan or vegetarian you are well catered for. Very poor. We will not be visiting again!!.

Came here for lunch on a Thursday, it was a really friendly atmosphere and the food was clearly homemade and full of flavour. Good choice on the taps and they do warm scratchings which were a treat!

We came here for dinner on a Friday - we were sat quickly and the man who sat us was nice enough. We asked for an allergy menu and were told that there wasn’t one but he would ask the chef. He came back about 5 minutes later and said that the chef said I could two things but he’d forgotten what they were so went back to the kitchen. Another 5 minutes later he came back and said that I could eat the fish, scampi or the Lasagne, I asked him about the smaller bites and he said “no just the lasagne that has a little bit of (my allergy)” … “a little bit…” If I hadn’t had asked a further question and chosen the lasagne then I would have eaten something I am allergic to because they deemed that “a little bit” was fine. Completely unacceptable, completely irresponsible, I will not be attending again. I suggest the restaurant get an allergy menu and train all their staff in the 14 major allergens and the effect they have on those they affect.

Excellent pub grub served by friendly, fun people in a lovely local pub. It's not fancy but it's very tasty and the portions are generous too! Exactly what you want with your pint!

Good pint of peroni and a good welcome. How times change, 2 years on, you try to order a Vodka lemonade to be told no lemonade even though shop just around corner. Pathetic way to run business.

Food was dreadful. Waited over an hour and it was all cold. Had two dishes heated up but didn’t bother with the other two as we had waited so long. Steak was so hard and chewy that it was inedible. Will not be returning.

I came to the black horse for my first anniversary meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We stayed for a drink and chat the staff were lovely and we had a good time

We wanted to try the Black since the new menu was launched. There were 5 in our party and we all went for the beef dinner. The beef was cooked to perfection and we had very friendly and attentive waiting staff. We will definitely be back.

Excellent bar and restaurant service, the food was amazing! The hanging kebabs are second to none! Welcoming and friendly atmosphere and the weekend entertainment is absolutely fantastic. Would recommend everyone one to visit.

After being shut for 2 months for refurb. The Black has reopened with a new landlady. The staff were excellent and the food was absolutely delicious and great value for money. Will definitely be back to sample the rest of the Menu.

Went there on Monday for my birthday a group of 10 and the service was excellent and the meals delicious. Highly recommended and well worth a visit.

Had a couple of drinks and ate here for the first time since it changed hands. The service was excellent, very warm and welcoming. And the food was outstanding. I will definitely be going back soon.

Fantastic from the start, beautiful food, in fact outstanding food. Try there chefs own made burger sauce & coleslaw ‘wow’ we will be back and we all highly recommended this place. Waitress was friendly nothing to much trouble. Thank you all x

One of the few proper pubs left in Pontarddulais and surrounding area. Most have either closed or been turned into restaurants. Good selection of beers and wines, and also serve food. I just drank so can't comment on that. Run by hard working and friendly people who were nearly forced out by the greedy brewery putting up the rent because they've made a success of it. We'll done in standing up to them. I will be using your facilities again.

Called in for a Guinness on a Thursday evening around tea time. Good atmosphere, nice pint.

The pub has been completely refurbished since my last visit, but it has been a few years. Very friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from the staff. I will certainly be going back

As Weatherspoons go all look the same in the bar our room was spotless we upgraded and had a settee as well as a super king-size bed great sleep very comfy

Wow I was a little apprehensive as to trying the ‘soup special - nettle soup’ BUT WOW…absolutely stunning! Would highly recommend.

Afte long train journey it was very welcoming the meal was a good standard service was very helpful all was a reasonable price and it was a well preserved building

Absolutely lovely place and the owner is a really nice bloke went today 3rd of September I had burger the wife had lasagne my food was OK the wife's lasagne was terrible I have seen mor meat on a vegetarian breakfast service was OK apart from that it wasok staff just need more training that's all

We visit our loca on a regular basis. The food is fantastic. We were lucky enough to have the Pork Belly special the other night wow it was amazing cant fault the service staff are so friendly

I wouldn't even let mydog eat here that's how unsatisfied I was with the food . The portion size for the chips is ridiculous considering they were £3.50 . My cousin had a toasties that wasn't even toasted properly and the salad that went with it was not fresh at all . Also they had a lot of food items missing off the menu . Also the service was awful and the barman / waiter was so unprofessional and rude .Would not recommend it here at all .

The staff and owners at the Black Horse Inn are amazing! The food was great. Burger was really fresh and meaty. Lovely pub with some comfy seats and an outdoor bit too. I hear the themed nights and quiz are great, I'll be back for those!

Loads of work gone into rejuvenating a very tired looking old pub. Good luck to the new Landlord and Landlady 👍🏻

We popped in on their opening day for a quick recce. The new landlords have decorated in a lovely, contemporary style, with comfortable sofas, as well as your standard tables and chairs. We had a quick look at the menu, which seems to have something for everyone, but didn't actually see anything coming out of the kitchen to gawk at (though here were people in the dining area).

We ate here on Mother’s Day, my son having checked there were Gluten Free options as my wife is a diagnosed coeliac. The starter was fine, she had pate which came with GF bread. We all ordered the burger for the main course. Ours came with chips, my wife’s was presented as a burger on the plate with some salad. When we asked about it we were told there was no GF free rolls and it does not come with chips, which we were not told when ordering. Some roast potatoes were suggested as a substitute. Subsequently discovered them on the bill. The desserts were good, but even allowing for it being Mother’s Day the service was erratic. All in all very disappointed

Booked for food and drinks, to be told we had 5 minutes to order. Great start! All Staff had a terrible attitude. Would have preferred for you not to be there as if it was an inconvenience that you were there paying there wages. Food was raw and now every person is throwing up today. Awful experience, AVOID at all costs. Never leave bad reviews but this needed to be done!

Well what a discusting meal. Considering its not long been taken over by Marstons and under new management then what a terrible job has been done. First served potato skins. Basically a jacket potato with bacon. Very dry and tasteless. Then comes the main course, over cooked burger. The lettuce looks like it has even been cooked. Avoid until it improves.

Excellent meal and service. Will visit again.

One of the best burgers I've had & I love my burgers! Will be back..... *edit* Been back a number of times now, the steak on a Friday night was one of the best I've ever tasted.

Whilst waiting for a takeaway we called into the black horse for a quick drink lovely country pub and it’s a brains pub so alway a good choice of drinks and a food menus on offer loads of safe parking friendly staff we will return for food as it looked fantastic putty we had made prior food arrangements

No food after 3 on a Sunday, gutted

Called into the black with my boy , had 2 massive cod and chips , with sides and 2 drinks for just over £20 , food was spot on and the service as always was on point (as was the banter 👌)

Lovely welcome polit staff food OK my son had beef lasagna could do with more chips hardly a handful of chips for the price.

I’m disappointed to be writing this as we have always considered the Black Horse as one of our local pubs where we could call for a drink and a good bar meal.

Called in for a quiet bite to eat and got some really nice food, with great service, the barman who was also waitering was very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, very well done.

Friends called Saturday afternoon on a flying visit, booked a table for the evening for 4 at short notice, had good food at a tidy price. Good range of beers, and ales.

Returned after a lovely family meal over Christmas which was great. We had quite the surprise when ordering as they had an amazing 50% offer on meals on Mondays and a 30% my favourite Brains Beer! Staff were helpful and pleasant as always food quality was great especially as the average cost per meal with the offer was £3.50.Will be making it a much more regular visit from now on.

Popped in for a pint booked for my mates birthday table of 13. 9 had steaks and one mixed grill greedy git we got 10 FREE Pints!!! Unbelieveable for that price and the staeks were spot on, especially the sirloin. Total food and drink cost under £10 each for the 13 of us! Unreal. Lovely atmosphere staff were great fun and polite.Cant wait for another birthday to book again.

visited here today with friends, staff very friendly lovely settings. we chose chicken leek suet pudding and three steak meals to be told at the bar that there wre no steaks available they had run out. very very dispointing at a pub. our meals wre very nice but prob only about 10 chips on each plate which was very skimpy. we all wanted a coffee to finish off the meal to be told no coffee either the machine was broken also a very big disapointment. not sure if we would return again for a whiler at least. thank you

Me and my wife stopped of here from the outside it look good, but as soon as we walked inside I was not impressed, the staff that were on, I seen two of them on their phones, so food... my wife ordered the soup of the day, the bread that came with as well at the butter I could of laid the foundation for my house it was not warm and it was hard.
