I am saddened to leave this review. Stopped by for a drink and thought we may get some food. Were originally going to take away but decided to eat in.We ordered 2 hot chocolates and 2 bacon sandwiches. We were given 2 cappuccinos, mine was half a cup of froth. I returned it to be told that i had asked for them.I explained that i was sure i had asked for 2 hot chocolates and even mentioned i was sure i had but maybe i hadnt. When i returned back to my partner he confirmed that i had in fact asked for hot chocolate. I did request it to be hot as the cappuccino previously served wasnt, although it had just been half a cup of froth. The bacon sandwiches arrived. 2 thin slices of brown bread that had lumps of butter squashed on it as it was obviously added hard and contained the bacon. I tried to remove the excess butter that was softer. Removed the fat from my bacon (i do accept that bacon has fat on it and removing it is my personal preference) I bit in to the sandwich and the grease ran down my fingers. It was so greasy. I put the sandwich back on my plate as needed to wash my hand andeft it. My partner tried to eat half of his but left the rest as he couldn't chew it properly with his dentures. We drank our drink and returned our crockery to the till area.We were asked why we didn't say as another sandwich would of been offered.I explained that the grease put me off and it had dripped out of the sandwich and my partner couldnt chew his. I dont like leaving negative reviews but honestly at £5.95 for a sandwich you expect grease not to be coming out of the sandwich and should be able to chew it. Without being rude and offensive it was in my opinion disgusting. However we were given back £10 which was offered and i hope that it was just a bad day for them as other reviews are good.

My wife and I stopped in for a mid-morning snack after stopping at Avoncliff on a narrowboat. We had a lovely quiche and the most amazing cheese muffins with our tea. But the highlight of the visit was the amazing service provided by a very cheerful group of ladies. This Café is worth going out of the way for…sos much so that we’re planning on stopping in on our way back this weekend. 👍🏼

I stopped here when visiting my family in Limpley Stoke. It’s the nearest post office to our location. I simply loved the shop, it’s simple but it’s stocked with all sorts of interesting items including locally sourced fresh produce. The cafe itself was great for a coffee and a snack and relatively inexpensive as well. There is a nice seating area outside when the weather is not cold or wet. I would love to come here again when visiting family again.

Visited this hidden gem to catch-up with friends over coffee. So wonderful experience traditional service and to enjoy such pleasant surroundings. The attached shop was also delightful. Well done Freshford, a refreshing experience in a sometimes manic world.

Loving the wide variety of groceries available at our local shop, seasonal and locally sourced produce, fresh bread and milk, post office service on Tuesdays and Fridays, kindling or a decent bottle of wine or cider - it's all here. Regular shoppers appreciate the refill area for mueslis, rice and lentils (bring your own receptacle!). The café beckons with coffee or a spot of lunch now on newly extended premises. In the summer you get the added bonus of a view over picturesque Freshford.

The cafe is lovely for a wide range of coffees and teas, imaginative bakes, warming soups, tasty quiches and colourful salads. Everything is homemade and beautifully presented. Service is warm and friendly. Whilst there, it's well worth browsing the shop which offers an amazing range of goods, including store cupboard basics, quality frozen meals, indulgent treats and special gifts. There's an emphasis on locally sourced items. Do visit, but bear in mind that at weekends it's only open until lunchtime (the shop opens until 5pm on weekdays).

Our cycling group visited the cafe mid-morning to avoid wet weather and were pleasantly surprised by the speed and politeness of the service, and the quality of the beverages and food. We enjoyed it so much that we’re planning to adjust future rides to allow more frequent visits.

Dropped in to the old village to walk the paper round which I vacated 61 years ago. Came across the Galleries Shop and Cafe at a perfect moment for lunch. Amazing range and quality of savouries and cake etc. And just the most friendly group of volunteers. Brilliant atmosphere thanks to all for the hospitality!

Community run, well stocked shop. Stopped here on a day walk, great food and served really good coffee. If you have a sweet tooth the tiffin is highly recommended - serve with a dollop of crème fraîche and a rhubarb compote, I though I'd died and gone to heaven. The staff are a credit to this delightful community enterprise.

En route to my next call and just before 1pm I was after a sandwich, so noticing the sign for ‘Shop & Café’ as I passed through Freshford, I dived down a road, followed it to the Freshford village hall and this great little shop and café was next door. The café offered a good selection of salads and I chose the beetroot and carrot (it had other ingredients too) with a slice of salmon en croute. It was prepared very quickly and the en croute was nicely warmed which is all I needed it to be with the salad accompaniment. I have to say I really enjoyed it and the free supply of water was welcome. There were other dishes including soups and the (forbidden) cakes (not that I am particularly bothered that I must avoid them). I was a quick snack but the place had a really pleasant and comfortable feel about. It is obviously well supported by the locals which is a good thing. The shop was well stocked offering a good selection of fresh, chilled and tinned/bottled comestibles and provender. Service was very pleasant, ‘with a smile’ describes it best and the bill £5.50 - worth every penny. Thank you.

We stopped for tea and had delicious home-made cakes. Sitting outside was lovely - even in Feb! We also used the shop, which was well-stocked for such a small location.

We popped into the freshford galleries shop and cafe on a circular walk. It was a very welcoming place for a cup of coffee and cake. It was very busy when we visited and we ended up sharing a table with a stranger whom we got to know quite well when we left 40 minutes later. The shop is very well stocked and there are plenty of photo and painting gifts in the gallery part.

Stopped there with a friend and had a very relaxed drink and the staff were friendlyThe shop and café are run by volunteers, so it is good to see a venture like this open and carrying on and shows in areas how much more as a society we are relying on volunteers. Whilst we did not use the shop, it appeared to be well stocked with supplies and this must carry on but only if supported by locals and visitors alike.Seating was available outside and the food that we saw looked nice. The Post Office is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays - especially in other areas Post offices appear to be a thing of the past!!I am sure that we well be visiting this place again and it is good to see the extended opening hours of the café on weekends

This community initiative is well worth a visit. The café serves lovely cakes and coffee as well as lunches which are more adventurous than one would expect. The shop is well stocked with local produce and the prices are so good I could not resist a spend. Rarely have I been in a village shop so well stocked and with such variety.

A community shop and cafe in the middle of an English village is an unlikely place to find some of the best salads and Italian food and desserts, but the food here is excellent and it's surely only a matter of time before 'foodies' discover this unlikely eating heaven. Add to this, the excellent community shop, stocked with tempting goodies and local produce, and you have an excellent destination for lunch, coffee or pizza. The shop seems staffed by volunteers, and all credit to them, they are very friendly and helpful . Good luck to everyone involved in this venture.

This is a community run shop and restaurant. It is operated mostly by volunteers from the Village. There is a small convenience shop for quick grocery shopping (also postcards, few local crafts) along with a small restaurant. We had a tasty cream tea but there were both sweet and savory offerings. On a nice day you can sit outside on the deck and look out over the fields.

I popped into the shop just before Christmas to purchase some “Turtles” and fudge and I received a very warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was beautifully wrapped. If you get a chance to visit this shop you won’t be disappointed - I highly recommend the raspberry pavlova fudge so delicious!

Huge selection of freshly made sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls etc. The six of us ate in and were all very impressed by our choices. The bread and generous amount of fillings were first class. Uses Hornsea and quirky pottery and a proper teapot and teacup! Very friendly staff. Truly a hidden gem
