Galileo in Brighton and Hove

Galileo is one of the few restaurants that holds it quality. I'm writing this review because this place is hands down the best.. I can't recommend it enough. At some point you can expect emoji to come check on you (he's the owner/head chef).. the food is by far the highest quality.

Excellent restaurant and the food was superb that's why we chose this place, we came here as we decided we wanted to try this place and not our local one where we live, very clean and tidy restaurant with very friendly staff who made the both of us feel welcome, the food was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. It might have been out of our way, but it was well worth the visit, highly recommended, and definitely would be back in the future.

I'm pretty certain the pizza base was store bought

Great food and service but felt the tables are really low and as it got busy was quite crowded as it's small, but would still recommend!!

I was having dinner with my friends, when i saw and overheard the owner shouting at his staff. He was Awful. Saying things like, you’re useless, and you’re no use to me. They looked very young, about 17-19 years old. It make me and my friends have a very uncomfortable dinner the rest of the night. Don’t recommend.

Food was delicious, service was great and Moji made us very welcome.

My family and I absolutely love this restaurant. Its family owned and the staff and owners are always so lovely here, always looking after their customers. We always go for the polo Galileo and a different pizza every time as we are trying to get through and taste all of the amazing option! Also, I never miss ordering the lemon sorbet as a dessert!

We booked a family night out for our son's birthday based on location and the previous good reviews. It was a wonderful evening. Great service from everyone at Galileo and the food was wonderful. A little birthday surprise was also given to our son which topped off the evening perfectly. Thank you so much. We will be back!

I can’t express my love for this restaurant!!! We go often with our family and it’s a family business we love supporting because their service is always perfect, such friendly staff and the food is of top notch quality - I usually go for the steak and it has plenty of options for sauces so I try a different one each time and each time or pasta Galileo which I request with tagliatelle and it’s AMAZING 100% recommend for anyone, romantic setting and beautiful cozy area Can’t wait to go back

I loved my recent visit to Galileo. A local run family restaurant with a great atmosphere and delicious food. I ordered ‘tagliatelle marinara’ and it did not disappoint. I would highly recommend.

I had the bruchetta which was huge! Fortunately we shared it. My main was the seafood pasta. The mussels were delicious and the shrimps tasty however in shell and small. I would still have it again but would prefer to see larger. The wine was very easy to drink. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Nice homely atmosphere...and I wont leave it too long before a return! Overall good value.

We love this local Italian restaurant. It has an extensive menu and everything is tasty. The owner is a legend and the service is always great. Very kid friendly too.

This place it’s a substandard ‘Italian’ restaurant that would have hardly been okay in 1978’s Britain. I am Italian and as much as I am often disappointed by Italian food in England very few places are as ‘meh’ as this. It’s true that it has loyal customers, most of whom are elderly and local, and that’s fine. But seeing this restaurant pushed at numbers one of restaurants in Brighton it’s simply absurd. Imagine being a visitor and going out of your way to try this place and ending up with this below average fare? You would need a strong sense of humour for this experience not ruining your night out!

There was a detour in Brighton on the road and passed a small parade of shops saw the Italian restaurant not very big on outside but so pleased we stopped . Staff are very attentive and knowledgeable about menu .They have the usual pizza, pastas but have a special board for there fish inside . My husband had the Salmon with prawns topped with asparagus there is also a side dish with veg .I had the waldorf salad ( walnuts grapes celery and apple in a mayonnaise dressing ) best i have ever had so lovely and fresh .Wish I lived nearer as I think it could be a favourite. They do take away as well .If you are in the area I really recommend you give them a try .

Very friendly, lovely atmosphere. 8 of us family members. We all had starters, mains, desserts & drinks. The specials were lovely especially the calf liver & salmon . Very enjoyable & reasonable price.

I’m really not one to write a bad review. I have came here before and the service was very poor. Food coming out at different time and service was very slow! But gave them the benefit of the doubt and came again. This time, I ordered the same (steak medium rare) steak came and certainly wasn’t medium rare, sent back and then they said I was wrong!! I was in shock and he then said he wasn’t changing it! So sat with out a meal while my family eat there’s as I wanted them to eat! Absolutely shocked and will never be going back!! Also the steak was really thin, would never recommend

So, I never write a bad review but I am absolutely shocked by our experience. Initially not being given menus or cutlery. We ordered two steaks one well done the other medium rare. The medium rare wasn’t medium rare( more well done) when raising this, we were told we were wrong. The restaurant refused to replace the steak. My husband went without a meal whilst we finished up ours!!! When we requested the bill they’d overcharged us considerably on the food we had eaten. They said it was a mistake. I can honestly say I’ve never had such a terrible experience. I’m all for supporting local businesses, but this was terrible.

If you haven't booked they can usually fit you in and service is close and sometimes quirky, making it a personal experience. Mr Moji is a great character and this little gem is popular with the locals living in Hoves millionaire belt. If you don't go out at night, visit their coffee bar next door.......real cappuccino plus all the rest made fresh in the traditional way. Try it and see what you think or just hang out on the pavement drinking coffee and soaking up the afternoon sun

WHat a cracking meal that was. Six of us, including two children, going to a restaurant which wasn't meant to be open, but was for a special occasion (a birthday) at another table. It was a very warm welcome from the owner and his staff, some great food (the roast lamb and trimmings were perfect) and the service was nicely paced and extremely friendly. A perfect Sunday lunch - well worth the expenditure; thank you.

We have been coming to Galileo on and off for around 3 years now. We have our favourites on the menu but have tried a variety of items over time and never had a bad meal. Owner and staff are always wonderfully friendly, atmosphere is welcoming and overall it's a great experience. I wouldn't say it's the cheapest place to eat but we are happy to keep returning. One thing I would add is that a previous reviewer wrote that they serve frozen microwaved food and we have not once thought this to be the case, and the comment seemed borne out of malice for some reason. Personally, if you are going out for a good Italian meal, my wife and I recommend Galileo.

It’s one of my fav local restaurants, walking distance from my place and a nice cosy vibe with accommodating staff. It’s a little hidden gem. Should visit for an amazing fresh food.

Intimate, unique eating venue inside the cosy Coppa club Igloo. Comfortable for 8 people and warm with the heaters. Nice, reasonably priced food - we can recommend the burger and the steak! Good drink! But most of all, excellent service with our waiter - Harry - not being able to do enough for us! Even getting us more delicious chilli mayo! Thank you Harry for looking after me and my family so well.

Grabbed lunch here as it's round the corner from me and wasn't disappointed - the stuffed pepper was great and the arincini mouth-watering. Also a little tip - they'll do private dinners in the evening, as the very friendly gentleman that served me informed me! Deserved reputation.

Service is great, proper family business, they make you feel very welcome. I'd prefer a 12 inch pizza as they do 10 inch which feels a bit small, but they are very tasty. Overall definitely recommend

We have lived local to this restaurant for over 30 years, but for some reason we have never visited before now. We had a great evening, the food was fantastic, not sure how anyone can say it is frozen microwaved food! I had a chicken dish that came with potatoes and veg and my wife had a pizza and a salad, we did not have starters or pudding, to be honest we were too full for either. There were olives, nachos and bread sticks on the table when we arrived, at no extra charge, unlike a lot of other restaurants now. The staff all went above and beyond with friendly service and chat. We will definitely be returning and will take friends with us next time.

Was very tasty, bacon a over done for my liking, sausages were definitely not the Cumberlands from the menu but all in all very tasty but really expensive. 2 x breakfasts, a mocha and a warm orange juice =£36+

The staff here are extremely welcoming and tailored to my needs as I am disabled. I am so thankful as I had such a wonderful birthday experience and all the staff stopped what they were doing to sing to me. The food was incredible and we were given some drinks on the house. Moji the owner is incredibly generous and really cares about his customers!!

As a local resident I really want this restaurant to be good. Unfortunately it’s stuck in the 90’s and serves frozen microwaved food at high prices. The cafe next door isn’t much better (average coffee, terrible decor and microwaved croissants ). It’s such a shame because it’s been open for ages and such a lovely location to walk to. I’m sorry to say that most of the local residents that are under 60 are hoping it closes down soon so something else can open there.

The location is away from the busy part of Hove, so parking wasn't a problem at all. We had an excellent family meal - very friendly and attentive waitresses. Definitely we will return and recommend to others.

Nice friendly venue with great staff. Visited for a meal and found the place to be clean tidy and nice enough for an establishment. I did feel however that the portion size was a little small and the sauce within the dish slightly watery leaving it tasting a little bland..

I've been going here for at least 15 years and the food, the staff, the drinks and the atmosphere have always been consistently incredible. The pizza is easily the best pizza I've ever had. It's always a pleasure going to this restaurant and the experience is worth every penny!
