GAIL's Bakery Kentish Town in Kensington and Chelsea

Staff were too busy talking to each other to acknowledge the people in front if them and they had a friend blocking the access entrance to go behind the counter. The coffee was served in ramekins and was cold, what there was of it. Would never go again. Absolutely disgusting experience.

It’s Sunday afternoon no customers waiting and the 2 staffs are not busy especially the male one, manager I suppose. Pretending not seeing me and I have to wait for eye contact for a while to get service. And then tell me I should tell him for scanning the barcode for rewards. It’s too late. Well, I have learned the lesson . This is not the first time happening in this branch. All staffs are depressed and they left & change often apart from the manager. Well, I will just need to get my bread from somewhere else.

Horrible branch of Gail’s - i was served by an abrupt, surly male member of staff. The tea I ordered took ages to be made, and when I collected it from the counter I saw that the cup i’d been given was very dirty and clearly hadn’t been washed- there were coffee ring marks all over it. A cold, impersonal dirty cafe.

Twice visited on different days visited and was served cold coffee Made complaint about it they just said sorry ! Horrible venue horrible music

I live nearby and regularly visit to read or work or socialise. Staff are lovely - friendly, knowledgeable, and doing very well at keeping service going under difficult circumstances. Baked goods and salads are the usual high quality you expect from Gail's. A great neighbourhood spot (and with bike racks just outside, which helps).

She actually repeatedly banged my chair leg with the broom! 😂 they are more focused on cleaning than ambience/ customer care and you feel like an imposition. Ladders clanging and coffe machine thumping added to the joy. Every sympathy for the job but it was a grim experience considering I emptied my bank account for a Luke warm drink 😂

Being local I often stop by and must say this is a great place for a coffee and comes with a large selection of freshly baked goods. The quiche is my favourite but also love many of the pastries and breads. All of this comes together thanks to the friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel special, a credit to the store management.

As a regular customer, I must say that this Gail's stands out by its charming staff. The tall Frenchman, in particular, is always in a good mood and knows his products very well. He undoubtedly adds a personal touch to the bakery. Would recommend this place 100%.

The food is of excellent quality but with the noise levels in the cafe, it was difficult to place the order. You have to stand in a position opposite the counter and then I had to move to use the pay machine and then again to pick up my food. Someone else needed to use the machine and moved in front of me - it was too close for comfort. You then have to pick up your drink from the end of the counter. This is too disorganised for my liking. Presumably better when quieter.

A couple of days ago I was in a rush for lunch and I got a sandwich in this Gail's. Everyone was friendly, and when I realised I only had cash with me, one member of the staff offered to use his own card and take my cash. Kindness especially appreciated during this tough times when we should all help each other! Keep it up!!!

Bread is fine but the staff are surly, rude and generally miserable. Possibly a recurring theme judging by earlier reviews. Interestingly every other Gails I’ve been too the staff are charming... do they deliberately appoint the worst staff to this branch?

Walked out without making a purchase as the staff were so rude. They appeared self involved and not interested in serving customers, like me being in the shop was actually a hindrance. Little to no customer service skills. Not the first time I’ve had this here. Will not be using the chain again.

This Gails is a great spot in Kentish Town - as always the coffee is great, beautiuful sourdough breads, always stocked up with Oatly for non dairy drinkers, but most of all the staff are always so welcoming - shout out to the fab Evelina, Michaela and Daniel

Evelin and David make the best coffee, definitely recommend Kentish town gails! Super tasty food and drinks. Only downfall is they don’t do gails’ shakshuka however they have amazing vegetarian and vegan options!
