GAIL's Bakery Camden in Camden

I visit this cafe almost everyday and can say for sure that this is the best Gail’s cafe and one of the best cafe in London overall. The food is delicious and fresh, while restaurant is being cleaned all the time, so you will not find a dirty table. Staff is polite and friendly. If you would like to have a breakfast, this is the best place to do that in Camden Town.

Bought a few pastries and a sourdough this weekend at Gail’s Camden - only to realise that they were all STALE! Unsliced sourdough typically takes a few days before becoming stale, which goes to show how long they’ve left it there on the shelf unsold!! Given the extortionary prices they charge this was very much unacceptable!

What is it with Gail’s bakery staff? Are they all treated poorly so they take it out on the general public? We visited Cambridge branch earlier this year and the staff were so miserable! Even when serving they couldn’t crack a smile. Camden is no different. We were on way to our car and my son needed a drink so we called in here. I wish we hadn’t. Plenty of pastries. Plenty of empty tables and a good few staff. I’m not surprised it’s so quiet in there. It’s not welcoming. Staff clearly don’t want to be there. We decided not eat anything. Drank our coffees and left. With 2 poor experiences of Gail’s, we will avoid all in the future Staff, you actually need customers to remain open, remain open = wages. No one is expecting a dance for customers but maybe a gentle smile to encourage returning customers would go a long way! There is no pastry in the world good enough to make me ever want to visit Gail’s again

Terrible chai latte. I ordered a hot chai latte at this store, and then an iced chai latte at another Gail’s location. Both are equally bad.

Yesterday in Gails Camden, Tony served me some ice tea and brownies. He was so lovey that I felt compelled to leave a review! Thank you Tony!

I have just returned from a visit to this Gail's bakery. I must say that I found the staff rude and surly, and the sandwiches cold. I would advise you to steer clear; there are plenty of other places to have lunch in Camden!

The pickled cucumber🥒beef is very surprising, the portion is large, healthy and nutritious, and the latte is also delicious

I recently visited Gail’s Camden Town, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! The toasted bagel with almond butter was absolutely scrumptious, perfectly complemented by a cup of English tea. Despite being busy, the service was impressively quick, especially during the morning rush. I'll definitely be returning soon for another delicious breakfast!

Gorgeous and cosy spot with delicious breads, sandwiches and pastries. Excellent hand roasted coffee. Brilliant addition to Camden’s coffee and bakery scene.

I like the food here is delicious. Sometimes I like to come around to do some work on my computer. Some of the tables aren't safe they are broken. Today I came to do some work on my computer and the table was broken so I decided to move to another one and guess what? That table was broken too. Considering the price we pay for drinks and food it would be nice to have steady and safe tables.

Just popped in for a coffee before as Starbucks was alot further walk from my digs, probably one of the best coffees I've ever had

It was something ABSURD. My wife and my 7 years old boy were in this store having a snack when a person came closed and Stole her IPHONE 14 threatening my son and her. Se reported the event and asked for assistance and she was completely IGNORED. It seems that been stolen in this store is something common and regular. I would like to warn the customers to take all safety precautions when goes to this Bakery because there is no concern about Safety and Security.

Delicious scone But the atmosphere between the employees was weird

Eine wunderbarer Ort für ein leckeres Frühstück. Es gibt eine reiche Auswahl an süßen und herzhaften Backwaren welche man in einer schönen Atmosphäre genießen kann. Einen kleinen Punktabzug gab es für das Personal, welches seine Arbeit gut gemacht hat, jedoch etwas freundlicher hätte sein können.

The staff is friendly and the store is clean. The latte was also made delicious at the right temperature. I was able to start the day in a good mood.

This has got to be the friendliest Gails in London. really lovely staff and special service for us locals, the pastries are to die for and the dirty Chai. Oh my gosh so good! Deffo recommended if you’re in Camden 😊 I normally avoid chains, but make an exception for this gem!

I've been walking past this bakery for years. Today was the first time I've gone in and I regret not doing it earlier. What a find! Great coffee in a big cup. Great selection of breads. Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful pastries. I will be back!

Tasty hot chocolate and coffee. The utterly unfriendly cashier, however, spoiled our visit at Gail’s. We won’t come back.

We were wanting coffee & cakes & as, apart from the chain coffee franchises, there is little choice in this area so we ended up at Gail’s. The service was average, the coffee was ok & the cakes were nice but nothing to write home about, but the price was unbelievably shockingly high. We will not be frequenting a Gail’s cafe again for this reason, the bill was over £32 for 4 coffees & 4 cakes!!

Went into the bakery and wasn't a lot if choice for cakes. We had 2 cinnamon buns ,along with hot chocolate and latte. The hot chocolate was terrible has they apparently didn't have the syrup to go in it it came in a tiny cup with no handle and wasn’t worth over £3. The latte also was very small again for over £3. It was served on a metal baking tray and in total the price was over £15. It was first time going to a gails and sorry to say the last.

Just came from Gails in Camden and had a very unplesant staff experience. I purchased some food, was not asked about a gails rewards card, paid and when I tried to scan the card after (I have never used the rewards card before as I have also never been asked, despite several visits to this branch in particular) the staff told me I should have mentinoned it before paying and now it is too late, the woman serving me blamed being busy that is why she did not ask me for the rewards card. I was the only one in line so not sure where the "too busy" came from. Very disappointing

Great staff are unfailingly helpful and pleasant; the food is fresh and flavoursome. Highly recommended.

I love gails! Always delicious! The feta and spinach rolls are my favourite but everything is delicious and everything is a must try!

Just bought a flat white and pain au chocolate to take away. The first flat white looked a little frothy so I politely asked for another. The second was almost identical (see photo) but I didn’t have the heart to ask for a third… On the plus side the pain au chocolate was very good!

Nice Gail's with good sitting place and ambience. I love their pastries. Been here quite a few times recently and always received good service, particularly from Wieska, she is really lovely and good with my son. Will definitely visit again.

Camden Town has tens of thousands places to eat. At the weekend, the cafes and restaurants are full of diners. I walked in the opposite direction from Camden Lock. Upon arriving at parkway street at lunch time, I saw many restaurants. In the end I chose Gail's bakery, which a friend had recommended me before. Inside is a dizzying display of cakes and breads. Ready-made sandwiches, fuction, quiches, savory pastries and more. I chose a bagel with pastrami, aioli sauce and pickle slices. At that time a table by the window became available, it was pleasant to sit there, looking at the pedestrians on the street. The sandwich/bagel was delicious. I was sorry that it was not possible to heat it on the spot. It seems that on the weekend, in this area the customers are passers-by, not regular customers.

Coffee was only like warm. Didn't k ow until I drove away, otherwise I would have made them change it.

Try the vegan avocado on his toast and the chocolate hazelnut bun. I love to see more vegan options here.

The food is great but unfortunately the blonde cashier and few other member of staff are so rude, good morning will be given to a selected customer 😳😳 they are so unprofessional and rude and always rushing customers, looks like they don’t want to be there This issue has been going on for months and months You should review your team if you don’t want to loose your customers

The European blond hair lady at the till taking orders is very rude and verbally aggressive. This is not the first time. What is taking GAIL’S management team to retrain her to improve her customer service! Her English is poor and she doesn’t allow customers to speak! It’s her way or she refuses to serve! In fact her poor attitude towards customers has gotten worse! Thank you to the lady barista for making great coffee!

The foods great. Just the service is so terrible. I do understand that everyone have bad days but when u r at work even if u don’t want to be there but have to get it done, you should be able to communicate and not be upset when some one just ask for sugar. My 14 year old son went in to buy me a latte while I sat in the car because I wasn’t dress appropriate to go inside. There was no sugar in their little cup so my son asked for sugar and the lady told him that’s all it has (which was only sweeteners). She was so rude to him that when I told him to go back he didn’t want to. Ive always seen this with Gail’s staff. They don’t like serving young people. If there is an adult behind a young person they wouldn’t ask who’s next they assume that the young person is with them and will and what can I get you.Gail’s need to teach their staff customer service. St John’s Wood NW8 and Camden are known for this. These little things can upset someone even if u r trying to have a good day.

Loved the vibe of barista and nice Cappuccino! However the blonde casher lady seems moody and annoyed. Rolling eyes bcs i didnt understand her question at once since i am half daef.

Must be going crazy or I was overcharged?? but today I paid a SHOCKING £9.10 for an iced latte and spinach and feta roll. The iced latte was absolutely grim and I ordered with it soya milk which was chunky?? almost curdled even?? which the staff said was normal and wouldn’t make a new one as it would just be the same but never in my life at any cafe or at home have I had soya milk look and taste as gross as that. Spinach and feta roll was ok, the ends of it were kinda burnt yet it was stone cold and kinda soggy so whilst it tasted nice it was really not up to standards for that price. Seating area is nice with lots of natural light but bench on the back wall is super uncomfortable to sit on and there’s a big lack of plugs that most coffee shops do provide now. Can get quite busy/noisy at times but usually ok. Toilet seems to always be kinda unclean. Disappointed as I was excited to come back here again but now it’s ruined for me I’ll stick to somewhere more reliable, where the service is actually worth paying for

Staff are unfriendly as if they’re doing you a favour selling to you. Twice I have been there and asked them to warm up their quiches. I was told “No”. Short and sweet. Teach them some customer skills for goodness sake! The secret of success is a smile. What’s wrong with them?

Nice food but served cold, rudest staff I’ve ever met! First time I’ve been there with my colleagues, I thought they were very rude but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Second time was even worse. Never going back!

Best pain au Chocolat ever. My partner had a plain croissant which was nice but not as good! Flat white was delicious. Staff were busy but helpful. Note: they do not reheat any food before serving.

Very, very slow. Coffee maker didn't seem to care. Also very expensive. Produce was quite nice.

Coffee was good. Bakery products were really nice, but the customer service was off. It seemed like they didn't want to be there and they were passing the vibe onto the customers, making us feel unwelcomed. Staff attitude definitely to improve!

Really nice bakery. Amazing cakes and great coffee. But the best thing about this cafe are the staff. They're so kind, helpful and always smiling.

This has Gails usual pastries etc which are generally very good albeit somewhat expensive (the coffee is also somewhat overpriced). However, although Gails used to do great plain scones they seem to have changed the recipe and they are now quite doughy and disgusting. In addition, this particular Camden Town branch never seems to have cream, and the butter is rock hard and unspreadable. The staff can be anywhere between indifferent to unpleasant, as if they're running a gulag.

Tried their egg spinach sandwich and it was very good! Haven’t tried their coffee, but my friend who was with me loved hers.

A really really bad Gail's, the lady serving me was eating, and pulled a knife out of the dirty washing up and the soup was cold, not super sanitary - go somewhere else!

Me and my partner went in today ( wednesday) i got a coffee and he got a blueberry muffin which Which was very dry and cost £4.50

There are many tables but all full with 1 person and their laptop. My espresso was so burnt that it took 5 min to cool down. I tried to ask for another but was met with a blank stare and they seemed very offended. And like any franchise there was no character to the place. It was just a stuffy experience ☹️

We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning and everything was delicious

0 stars for the sourdough bread. £4.5 for a bunch of air. Have tried it several times and it’s always the same issue. Pastries are good though.

As you know, it's franchise and decent cafe. From this Camden shop, I bought a slice of Babka yesterday for take away. It was cut when ordered and I found it was too much unevenly cut. Upper part is 2 cm-ish and the bottom is almost lost like a paper haha. Why don't you just use machine and precut it? It's just slightly annoying don't know what I paid for.

Had to wait 20 minutes for caffe. But cakes were very nice.

I think this is cleanest Gail’s and might be best cafe in London. They welcome you with smile and they are very careful with the service. What else you expect? I had wonderful experience there.

It was very nice at first. However, the service is getting worse and worse. The drink came out late after I told them and they didn't even gave me a tray or tissues. When I asked them tissues, they gave me only one tissue. I paid for the eat in, but the service wasn't. Last time when we ordered the take away, due to the quality of the take away tray, we lost one ice drink on the street.

Very nice place! The staff always friendly, polite and helpfull! I went in holiday in Uk and of course i have to visit Camden! There I fiind one coffee shop just round the corner which made my holiday to be more interesting! The food always fresh, with an amazing Baker - i asked about something and she just made it for me in 5 minutes. As well was one blonde girl i think was a manager which was just spinning around to help everyone! I was totally impressed and definetly i will recommend everywhere! ❤️Thank you for your good hospitality! ❤️

Unhelpful staff.. Exmouth Street branch. Stood in a queue for 20mins, ordered, paid sat down. Realised one coffee was short, informed the waiter and instead of bringing the coffee over was asked to rejoin the queue (perhaps holding half my sausage roll!). Not a great breakfast experience, felt like I was back in a school canteen.

I love Gail's and this store is one of my favorites. The staff is kind and polite, the coffee and food are excellent. It is really a relaxing place. Strongly recommended!

Went to Gail's Camden twice in a row and I'm glad to see in this particular branch I was served both times by professional barrister's who made my coffee with a heart 💖 on top, I hope Gail's continue to employ only professionally trained staff as I have had bad experiences in other branches, good job Gail's the cakes were great to

Nice place to sit but very expensive even for London (£8 for a coffee and lemon drink!) with the added that the staff are not friendly. There are plenty of better cafes nearby.

Gail’s in Belsize Park is friendly with great service. Sadly the same can’t be said for Gail’s in Camden which we visited this morning. Staff inattentive and grumpy - will stay away from this branch in future. Go to Belsize Park instead if you can

I had a very average coffee with a pastry, my friend had a very tiny hot chocolate. He expected a decent sized mug or cup but it came in a teacup size. The cake was a pistachio and rose sponge cake which he ate in three bites. The cost was £16.00…. Very expensive and not value for money.
