GAIL's Bakery Cambridge in Cambridge

Food was alright. Customer service could be worked on. Gentlemen working cooking and prepping food being vocal talking nastily about other staff across the store and disturbing those serving. Not professional behaviour to have whilst customers are being served.

I am unsure why Gail’s gets all the hype it does. It is a very ordinary looking coffee shop from the street. You could easily walk past it. Once inside there is a nice pastry and bread selection, none of which are priced, and the area you order your drinks. I chose a latte and a cinnamon bun. The coffee was okay but not very warm and the service for it was slow. The cinnamon bun was tasty enough. I think for what you’re getting the cafe is expensive (£8.30 for what I ordered) and lacks a friendly atmosphere or any real vibe, which is a real shame. Perhaps there’s an element of complacency, where the cafe is living off a pre-conceived reputation. It’s just my opinion but there are better coffee shops close-by, with far warmer welcomes.

Alimentos - pastelería grasa en rollo de salchicha y paja de queso. Tazas sucias - tenía que pedir reemplazos. (La misma última visita también) personal poco interesado en servir. Me dijeron que escuchara nuestras bebidas. No nos enteramos, así que tuvimos que ir al mostrador - tres empleados charlando juntos. Seguramente deberían traerlo. Parece ser un mal comercio de personal y sistemas. No molestará una tercera vez.

Normalmente compro barras de pan en Gail's y las hago rebanar. Hoy entré, tomé dos panes de los estantes de pan como de costumbre, los llevé al mostrador y pedí que los cortaran en rodajas. El hombre que me servía dijo que no podía ponerlos en la máquina de cortar porque los había tocado. Tomó un tiempo establecer que no estaba bromeando. Le dije que vengo regularmente y tengo panes cortados de esta manera y le pregunté por qué es diferente hoy y dijo que todas las otras veces que había venido en sus colegas se habían "equivocado". Señalé que no hay señalización - nada en absoluto - para que los clientes sepan que si quieres panes cortados no debes tomarlos de la estantería, pero él no estaba interesado en eso. Le pregunté si podía cortar dos panes diferentes de los estantes para mí, pero él dijo que no, que tenía que comprar los que había llegado al mostrador con. Le dije que no tengo uso para panes sin rebanar así que tendría que dejarlos. Así que fue una pérdida. Tuve que irme sin pan, y Gail presumiblemente tuvo que tirar los panes que había querido comprar. ¡Bien hecho Gail's! Qué triunfo absoluto para el servicio al cliente y el sentido común.

Vinimos después de un viaje en tren. Personal amable y servicial. No es una mala opción de selección en oferta. Servicio rápido. Lo bueno era muy sabroso y fresco. Agua de autoservicio. Bonito ambiente. Baño limpio. Restaurante limpio y ordenado, sin embargo un poco lento en las mesas de desbroce. Admite perros. Recomiendo una visita si está en la zona.

Encantador café con algunas opciones realmente saludables para el almuerzo, entre las delicias al horno! Ideal para diabéticos, sin gluten y vegetarianos. Bonita zona de estar fuera y dentro de la cafetería tiene una variedad de asientos para satisfacer todas las necesidades. Excelente ubicación cerca de la estación y a pocos pasos del centro de la ciudad.

We called in here for some tea and coffee while we were waiting for a museum to open. I waited in the queue and found they had no tea and didn’t take cash. My partner came back after trying to find somewhere to sit. He definitely advised against staying here when he saw the unclean state of the tables. I wish we had read Trip-advisor before venturing in.

I just went for lunch and asked to sit in. I was given a paper bag with my quiche. I asked to have a plate instead as I could clearly see them available, but the lady at the til told me the dishwasher was not working. I then went to sit and tried to eat my cold quiche with those single use cutlery. The food fell on the floor. I was feeling like a dog as the paper bag was disintegrating so I complained and another lady said that they were short staff but after insisting, she gave me a plate and proper cutlery. I don't know what the real reason not to use plates was, given that I got 2 different explanations given. I probably think it was just laziness. Either way, I won't be going back. Cold food out in a paper bag is not an enjoyable experience.

What happened to Gail’s? It used to be such a special place to go. This has become a slower version of a Costa or Starbucks. Stale food, extremely slow service (waited 15 mins just to order) and was served coffee in takeaway cups when I had bought food to eat in. Won’t be back.

Awful, dirty and a health hazard ?! Gone are the days when Gail’s only had a few stores and it was the best place to go got coffees in London. This place is absolutely grim. The cups, tables, toilets …. All disgusting!

Both my wife’s coffee and mine was luke warm but did taste good. Both my kids iced lattes were average at best. I did enjoy the snacks we had though.
