Great customer service very friendly staff definitely will come again!

I was expecting this, second visit, to be as joyful as my first visit last month, where the staff were a joy and the food was lovely. Not so unfortunately. On the first visit the lovely staff suggested getting the loyalty card as I'd get a free loaf on my next visit. I was disappointed to find that it was a free coffee and not a loaf. I was also fortunate enough to have a free birthday treat and I chose a scone. It was dry and would have benefited from some butter, however there wasn't any. On this occasion the greeting was not as lovely as before and the staff were not particularly welcoming or friendly, although I appreciate that customer facing roles can be tiresome. The surfaces of the tables were all dirty and there was leftover food and crockery on every one. The floor was also very dirty and overall it wasn't a great experience. Loyalty cards and birthday schemes are there for a reason: to bring customers back time and time again. But you also have to excel in what you offer in order to retain those customers. I hope it's better next time I visit

Cheese & ham croissant, excellent. Flat white coffee well presented and delicious. Usual 2 packets of cheese crackers, the best ever. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Tables needed a wipe and a bit pricey too, but hey ho 👍

I love bakery and was mouthwatering to see many products Bagel, croissants, sandwiches. Yum yum and all hand made. The staff were very warm and helpful. The interior was simple but nice and gave a good vibe. My friends were cursing me because they know what bakery means to me. So they pushed me to grab a bread and out before we miss train 😅. No worries I’m coming back to have all of it 😁

I like this place but they definitely have to change their soya milk. Each time I’m having coffee milk actually as sour and doesn’t make taste better

Coffee ok. Cinnamon bun nice. As expected. However I decided to use the toilet facilities and the toilets are disgusting. Toilet seat covered in urine, 2 strands of tissue left to wipe the seat, and toilet seat loose and falling off the toilet. Staff seemed aloof too. Just smile and be friendly . Its just a coffee shop, not a high end art gallery

Nice range of baked goods and deli snacks, not cheap but of correspondingly high quality, as is the coffee. A good place to meet or get work done. Staff are mostly friendly and efficient, although I have had them give me oat milk when I've asked for soy on several occasions so minus a star for that.

We were looking forward to trying Gail's Bakery but we had to leave as they don't accept cash. Most places in Brighton accept both card and cash and it was easy to find a replacement Coffee/Bakery place, where we spent our money.

The food is great but the staff are so so rude! Every time! I go to this Gail’s a lot as I live locally and every single time the staff are rude. Today I asked for an iced vanilla latte and they said they didn’t have any sweetener for the iced drinks but they could put sugar in the shot of espresso. The girl who then made the drink said “we don’t do that, I won’t do that” and was so rude. I honestly give up coming here because of the rude staff.

I think they forgot to put any coffee in the cappuccino; it just tasted like warm milk. The girl who made it said it was her first day there so I didn’t complain as I think Gail’s are at fault not giving new staff appropriate training.

Argentinian guy on the till, proper Sunday morning mood. He was kind an efficient. They were overall nice but him specially. Lovely coffee too!

Down on holiday in Brighton, ended up going to Gail's twice for breakfast, amazing selection of food and great coffee. One of the bakers behind the counter in the bakery even gave us a free defect cinnamon bun which was still amazing but and a nice gesture. Highly recommend 👌👌

We come here regularly as our go to bakery/coffee stop. The food and drinks are super quality. The food is incredible. However, today we went in and ordered two chai lattes. My partner Jake ordered his drink and they had misheard his name and the drink and had made the wrong one. We tried to correct them on this, however we were slammed down by the barista who rudely told us we were being inpatient. To add, she didn’t make eye contact with us at all. We could see no other customer was waiting for a drink so the mistake was clear to us and we said it in a polite way. The reaction from the barista was very rude. The barista’s colleague realised the error and apologised to us!

We had mushroom quiche and a pecan, cinnamon and banana cake. It was delicious. The place is also very spacious. We had a pleasant break in our trip.

What a vibe .. great atmosphere... Huge range of bakery products.. all hand made .. fresh n tasty .. so many products one will be spoilt for choices... Bagel, croissants, sandwiches, coffee, tea... The staff is very warm and helpful... The interiors are simple and give a good vibe... I had cappuccino, bagel and sourdough.. all we're just awesome... Have already shortlisted some more items for my next visit soon .. always a good option for breakfast or evening tea ..

Coffee is so much better than at Starbucks or any other similar specialized 'coffee' place. Pastries are even better.

Asked what we wanted at the counter proceeded to tell and the server walked off while still speaking. Rude and didnt carry on our order another when we said we werent sure what had aready been ordered the original server rudley said I was coming back , but there was no indication of this. When we went to pay no where did it state no cash and we wern't asked. My husband jokingly went to scan the cash and the same server sarcastically said thats weird trying to scan cash. Again very rude. The food was mediocre hard bagel and cold ham and cheese crossiant.

Tasty snacks, nice bakery. Sometimes, the waiting time longer than expected but it is okay.

Went there this morning, Sunday, to pick up an order, my order was sitting there ready to collect so while showing my phone I said exactly this to the serving woman in a polite tone: "If that order behind you is ready may I have it please?" She looked at me and mockingly said "OK, good day.." and tapped on my phone hard with her finger as if to verify the order number which of course is an unnecessary gesture. I told her "she's not allowed to touch people's phones without their permission" (let alone hit them) and she immediately started staring at me ready to explode so seeing where this was going I decided to leave.. As I was leaving she told me to reject the order and I replied "I'm rejecting it because you have an attitude" and in response she shouted for the whole shop to hear " I HAVE AN ATTITUDE?" I didn't respond to her shouting, I just left because I value my job more than pointless confrontations with people with very poor manners. Three sentences is all I said and my voice was never raised; not sure how that aggressive looking woman landed a customer service job, but she appears to be a ticking bomb waiting to explode on someone which is certain to happen if she keeps displaying the same bad attitude.

Used to like coming here for a coffee and a treat. It always seemed civilised, now it there seems to slippage. A bit like Starbucks they yell your name across the cafe and you collect...I'm thinking again about somewhere else....

My partner and I decided to stop by GAIL'S Bakery for breakfast. She went for leek, cheese and ham quiche (4/5) and a blue berry muffin (4/5). I went for the mushroom and caramelised onion quiche (4/5) and the parmaham chicken burger (4/5) with a bottle of orange juice. The atmosphere was typical of a cafe but felt much more open which was nice.

This was my first time visiting the Gail’ls Bakery in Brighton. And the environment and the behaviour of the team Timi , Maksim, Gab , Joe & Khalid was so friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for serving us the best Coffee and blueberry custard brioche . Hope to visit you guys back .

We go to Gail's in Brighton every Saturday morning, the staff always smile, asking and caring for us, they make us feel like home! It's unbelievable how kind the staff are, how much love and effort they put every time we're there! I know it sounds like we're some sort of relatives, but we're actually total strangers who stepped in once, and coming back every week in the last 3 years! Having our regular coffee and mix it up with different pastry each time! There's not once, where things were not fresh or out of shape. ALWAYS fresh, always clean, always in stock.

Oh my gosh, let me tell you about this café! It was seriously amazing! First of all, the atmosphere was so cozy and inviting, with the smell of fresh baked pastries wafting through the air. And speaking of pastries - WOW! They were all sooo good. I couldn't get enough of them. But the real star of the show was their chai latte. I mean, I've had chai before, but this one was out of this world. It was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet, and I could tell they used only the best ingredients. And don't even get me started on the staff. They were so friendly and helpful, always happy to answer my questions and even gave me some recommendations. Overall, I had such an awesome time at Gail's and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, cozy spot to hang out and enjoy some seriously delicious treats.

The staff here are amazing! They helped me find the most delicious plant-based chocolate hazelnut bun I have ever tasted! It’s a lovely, friendly vibe in here too - with amazing cakes and pastries! What’s not to love. Great coffee and loads of vegan options.

The young lady behind the counter had obviously had a bad day. Customer service 0 . She spent more time moving the display around than finding out what we wanted to eat . I understand we came in 20 minutes before they closed.

A bagal from Gail's fine patisserie....or is it just a bakery?! Either way, their bagals fill me with pure joy 😊 My gluten intolerance takes a back seat, and I indulge in their heavenly chewyness. Their ready-filled, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagal is excellent. If they haven't sold out, and I'm lucky enough to buy a bagal to take away, it's 1 half with almond butter and jam and the other half with butter and Vegemite. The perfect combo! These holy, no holey bagals are best eaten in privacy and absolute silence 😆 I also highly recommend their little rolls with salami and cornichons. They may look simple, but they are seriously good. I think I need a loyalty card, I'd clock up points in no time 😆 10/10

Really have to say the staff here make the place. Always so sweet and welcoming. Unlike Trading Post who are the opposite. We come back time and time again for a reason and that reason isn’t just for your incredible cheese straws or coffee…. It’s the welcoming feeling ❤️

Arrived at 3pm. Several tables already had chairs on top ready for closing. Other tables not cleared and no attempt made to do this despite not being busy. Staff taking order was not friendly or cheery, got the order wrong which I only realised when charged too much. No apology, took ages to issue refund. Not an enjoyable experience for a costly cake.

The cheese and ham croissant is a different level.

I have visited gails bakery in north road brighton everyday 7days a week for over a year now Reason? It is the only faultless establishment i have ever come across The Manager Joe is a Perfectionist and has clearly taken great care to establish a great around him Service and produce and coffee are all consistenly excellent Staff friendly and efficient Great place too visit and enjoy I do not frequent other Branches of Gails because they cannot live up to standard at North Road I hope that if your management rate your Branches they do not do so purely via profit and loss on a spreadsheet Every successful buisness manager realises that the real value of any enterprise is the quality of its manager and staff. In that sense North Rd is a wonderull example for your company

We visit GAIL’s Brighton often and we just want to say we love you. The staff’s welcome and excellence (you know who you are) are often the highlight of the day, the cinnamon buns, quite frankly, the best in the world. Thank you!

Recently I went to Gail’s bakery with my daughter for a coffe and cake where we had the most disappointing customer service ever. The blond girl at the till, after giving us the wrong cake, not the one we asked for (although we pointed at it), commented our choice with a grimace, and a smile, instructing us about each of the cakes and their name as well. She played to be polite and nice but did it with a tone no customer would like to hear. Working in luxury retail I know what customer service looks and should be, but at this bakery you’d better not to expect it. We’ll never visit this cafe again.

Gail’s is a coffee shop that I’ve always passed by but never entered until recently… 🐓Chicken Parmesan sandwich was phenomenal! It’s served at room temperature which didn’t stop me from indulging it within 5 minutes! The thigh meat was soft and tender! The sauce had a bit of spice but brought that flavor! Wouldn’t mind ordering this again! 🥑Avocado chickpea sandwich had good tangy taste but that chickpea elevated it in ways that it was enjoyable! 🥯 Salmon bagel with cream cheese was the classic type! Note that there’s tons more cream cheese than expected, wish it was a tad less. 🧊Iced oat latte with agave syrup was super good! I’m a sweet coffee drinker and this was really nice! Reminded me of iced Spanish latte. I could have this any day.

Just eaten the best almond croissant in the world! Wish we were staying another breakfast in Brighton so we could try something else from this glorious display! Everything looks delicious!

Went here for lunch for the first time in this branch, although have been to other branches, which were excellent. A very underwhelming welcome, and quite miserable service as we ordered from the counter. All the staff seemed very unhappy and unfriendly, bar the person making the coffee who at least tried to conjure up a smile. There were not a lot of people in there as was around 3:30pm, although seating was a problem as most of the tables were not cleared or cleaned from the previous guests. Toilets also were in a bit of a state. The highlight though was when one of the staff eventually decided to clean the table next to us and decided to slam the tray of plates on the table next to us, and throw the plates into the tray as loudly as possible. Food was reasonably good but pricey. Absolutely wouldn't go back.

Just had the most delicious flat white coffee and pastries with friends. Excellent service and the quality of ingredients really shows. Will definitely be coming back.

Such a beautiful display of bakery items! It was hard to choose but we had both savory and sweet and it was all delicious! Be wary though as its not cheap in the realms of bakery but to be honest the quality was so good we were happy to pay more than elsewhere for lovely food. The flat white coffee was also one of the nicest I've had in a long time. We ate in and it's a lovely atmosphere too. Will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu.

I would love to leave more than 5 stars!! Me and my parter have come to Brighton for the weekend and came here on the Sunday and it was beyond excellent the staff af super friendly and are happy doing what they do the pastries are absolutely sublime my personal favourite is the cinnamon buns they are perfect. We also feel the pricing its amazing considering the size of the pastries they are huge all hand made and and you can see them makeing them all. Just such a beautiful place definitely worth a visit!!

Nice tea & pastries. Breakfast was out of my pay grade. Plenty of other places to try if you are on a budget. The friends we were with thought it was good value.

Far too expensive, i.e. nearly £4 for a cappuccino which wasn't large or particularly well made. Not worth a visit; unfriendly staff.

The coffee is great, as well as the bakery (esp the croissant). The staffs are very nice, with good ambience.

I don’t write reviews but this was such a bad experience that I’ve decided to share with others. I usually go the Gail’s in Hove, which is lovely: friendly staff go above and beyond. Contrast with Brighton branch: staff were incredibly rude and arrogant. Tables dirty and not cleared. Barista got our order wrong, then after a long wait gave us a cracked cup which leaked everywhere. No apology was forthcoming. Won’t be going again.

I don't think I've ever written a review for a coffee before but I'm about to. I just got a cappuccino with an extra shot from here to takeaway and it was the best coffee I've had in a really long time. Great service too. Recommend.

A great place to hideaway on a rainy day in Brighton. There was an amazing selection of cakes and pastries. I’d highly recommend the cinnamon roll! Very delicious coffee and friendly service with a smile. What more could you want 🤷‍♀️

Good coffee, ordered the almond chocolate croissant for eat-in but i think the shop did not do reheat for the baked goods. Wish they reheat the croissant, it would taste so much better after reheating

Really bad coffee. £3,70 for a cappuccino with alternative milk that was a latte in a cappuccino mug, served on its own without a plate and a spoon. Also all the tables were dirty for the all time I was there when the place was not busy at all. Do not recommend.

Perhaps I came on the wrong day as the other reviews seem to love the staff - but when I visited a couple of weeks ago, the staff were unfriendly, unwelcoming and didn't seem to want to help at all. Took a ridiculous amount of time for a black Americano. No cutlery served or offered with our baked goods. Was willing to give the benefit of the doubt about the coffee (maybe they were cleaning, training or preparing beans? Not sure!) but it was such a long amount of time with no apology or explanation, I was honestly baffled.

Excellent place for coffee, tea, and a cake or two. This place honestly does have the best loose tea in a pot in Brighton, always generous in leaves, great taste, and a minimum of two cup too. The coffee is excellent and the best blueberry muffins in town, packed with fruit. A few breakfast options, and lunchtime time treats. Fantastic selection of breads. Nice friendly, professional and helpful staff headed up the the ever courteous and polite Khalid.

The inside decor is nice and coffee was decent however the food here is overpriced and a let down. Wanted the savouries warned up but apparently they couldn't do it do everything on the counter is stone cold, if they could heat the food it would of been a better experience

Lovely new location, great place to meet someone and enjoy one of their artisan bakes. The cinnamon rolls are the very best! Baked eggs definitely overpriced so wouldn't have again. But for a savoury breakfast would recommend the ham and cheese croissant.

If the Gail's in Hove is heaven, then the Gail's in Brighton is hell. Coffee was really bad, shop was dirty (table was left unclean - the staff was tapping her phone, showing no intention to maintain the shop nicely), and it came as no surprise to me that the service was bad as well.

In my house, my family loves gails, the food and bread, biscuits we even have your book, believe me we tried almost everything but lately your staff keep letting us down. There someone there so rude so rude, every time I ask for something she just throws in the counter and last time she putting half of my croissant in the counter on top of the card machine in Covid times, asked for a bag she just gave me a open bag, not even thanks us, it really seems like we are not welcome there. I forgave her for twice forgetting to put some of the things I ordered in my bag and that I paid for, I never ever complained because those things can happen in a busy place but she is so rude that we are simply feed up with that. It’s a real shame, but I won’t accept anymore, everything is so good that a little effort, thanking, care would make the difference, just learn with gails Hove, that’s great service. I go here on my way to work for a coffee and a pastry. The pastries are fantastic and usually warm at that time in the morning. The coffee is good and the staff are wonderfully welcoming!

Love their pastries and bread. Tried the seasonal Christmas Bun and it is absolutely delicious!

I would normally not review a coffee place but gail’s cheese sticks are the most addictive thing on this plant!!!!

We dropped in here after a swim for lunch, both had the reubens, thorughly recommend, delicious well made - take the hot sauce, plus a good well brewed generous tea.

Good pastries but there is one member of staff that makes us feel unwelcome every time we come. We are going at least 20 times a month but they wouldn’t even bother to say hi when we come in. We tried to have a good relation with the barista but they would still act reserved and unfriendly. Very unfortunate :(
