GAIL's Bakery Blackheath in Greenwich

Buena comida y buen servicio. Limpio, cálido, amable. Solo un aseo para un restaurante que tiene capacidad para 80 personas fue muy decepcionante. Mejor ir antes de visitar!

Las panaderías de Gail son una joya escondida, y la de Blackheath no es la excepción. Soy un habitual allí, y me encanta su pan de masa madre, cruasanes de almendras, brioches de arándanos, muffins y café. Hay una razón por la que este lugar se llena a ciertas horas del día - es solo una visita obligada!

Muy decepcionado. Fuimos a tomar croissant y cafés. El croissant era terrible y no es lo que espero por el precio. No crujiente, empapado y se reiría de él en Francia. El café era bueno, pero no hay asas en las tazas! Mis manos son muy sensibles al calor, así que quizás estén de moda pero no sean amigables con el cliente. ¿Quizás Gail se ha vuelto demasiado grande?

Lugar perfecto para curar mi jet lag. El café era justo lo que necesitaba - sabroso y reconfortante, aunque un poco en el lado caro - con múltiples opciones de papillas para un desayuno satisfactorio. El servicio era amable y acogedor, y la zona de restaurantes abierta y soleada era encantador y tranquilo.

Tuve una experiencia increíble en la tienda Gail's Blackheath a través de deliveryoo - mi madre anciana fue atendida por un caballero llamado Winston. A pesar de que la mayoría de los artículos que ella quería no estaba listo en ese momento / no disponible , se aseguró de que se harían y logró ofrecernos una gama de alternativas y se los hizo llegar a pesar de todos los problemas en ese momento. Solo quería agradecerle personalmente y realmente muestra los esfuerzos que hizo para asegurarse de que ella estaba satisfecha y ella estaba justo sobre la luna. Muchas gracias.

Vinimos por un sándwich rápido Se decidió por la ciabatta de jamón y queso y dos pasteles y un té y agua Sorprendentemente esto llegó a más de £ 30 Bueno, esperaba que por este precio fuera excepcional El sándwich estaba tan seco que era difícil de tragar - pedido para mayo se le dijo que no, no tenemos eso Pasteles estaban bien El té era agradable En general, simplemente no vale la pena los precios que cobran Seco insípido - se ve mejor de lo que sabe

No calientan paninis o focaccia, etc. - absolutamente extraño! Focaccia nadando en grasa - ok, era una mozzarella/pesto llena, pero era solo estómago batiendo grasiento. También vi una mosca en un sándwich - la comida no se examina con eficacia en el clima cálido. Prefiero cadenas pequeñas y negocios independientes a Costa y Starbucks, así que me decepcionó mucho. Di lo que quieras sobre Starbucks, al menos obtienes una experiencia consistente en lugar del bastante extraño “no los calentamos porque se hacen cada dos horas”

Amazing services and shout out to the Blackheath team for their warm and kind embrace in meeting my needs for my family. Even though it’s a busy environment, it comes to show how popular this shop is and their food is amazing

A must! Gaeilge agus fáilte here which adds hugely to the coffee and very very good Almond Croissant. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

Food didn’t look or taste fresh, also served on dirty plate and table was very unclean. Well avoid coming back and go to other coffee shops in Blackheath from now on

Expensive, orders not followed, always less coffee than the size paid for... Gail's used to have quite tasty coffee and pastry, yet lately everything gone and overpriced, especially considering the quality of products and service received. Today I planned to enjoy a lovely Saturday morning treat, ordered: - 3 cups of regular latte (whole milk), got them all, yet each one only 1/2 full, and of different taste and poorer quality... - instead if pistachio financiers got burn butter ones - the almond croissant most probably was 3 days old and a chewy mass of dough - the toast (the same issue onlast 2 orders) was made on a cold slice of bread... The single plus is the packaging. I'll definitely stop ordering from Gail's, as seems a joke lately - pushed to pay double the price for something else - and what is more annoying is that it's a repeat on such orders and seems their (new) policy.

I’ve been a few times the selection of breads and pastries are always fresh and delicious. The service is always very good specially Becky with a friendliness and happy smile.

Gail's normally a reliable eatery but can tell they've cut their cloth. Smaller portions for the same price. Sausage rolls half (being kind) of what they were a few years back. Staff work very hard (credit wheres due) but not enough to clear the tables on a timely basis. For the price would expect better. (Warning the bagels need a chainsaw to get through, never mind one's teeth🤣🤐)

Had couple of pastries and coffee - pretty good. Oat milk not the best and an bit overheated / burnt but still drinkable. Waited a while to get served but staff friendly.

Il posto è molto accogliente e adatto alle famiglie. I prodotti sono buoni ma un bel po’ cari soprattutto se si consuma all’ interno. Siamo rimasti delusi dalle Madeline che erano stantie e gommose: quelle di Bon Maman sono 100 volte meglio. Babyccino e cappuccino nella media.

Nice atmosphere, lots of families. Best hot chocolate we’ve had for long time, rich and dark. Quite bitter but perfect for adults.

A refresh and reboot can be a good or bad thing for any business and, luckily, it appears to be a good thing here in Blackheath. Shiny new environment (it’s been renovated last week) and a slightly new layout have made for a very efficient service. This place has always had key staff who are very polite and nice, but it seems now the whole team presents the same upbeat pleasant attitude and it’s much more efficient. May be the slight tweak in layout has had that impact, who knows. Anyway, the filter is always good and the newly renovated cafe is a pleasure to now be in. It’s still a canteen style layout in my opinion, but it’s fresher, cleaner and brighter, plus there’s a lovely little window table so next time I might have to bring friends to justify a four seater! The food is generally pastries including scones and cakes, with a couple of hot food items made to order. There’s no eggs on toast but then it is a bakery, what do we expect?! Come try it, but please wait til after 8am so I can have a peaceful morning coffee before you all arrive!

Don’t bother going unless you order with Deliveroo - they only tell you once you’ve queued to place your order that your wait -after the deliveries have picked up - is 15mins for a coffee. Customer service - ZERO Coffee experience - if I I can be bothered to wait 5 out of 10 BELOW average in every way. Won’t be going bk

Asked for a pot of tea,the East European lady said,‘milk in it?She was rude when I said no t inside the pot.

Called in late afternoon to get some treats . After looking at all the tasty offerings I noticed that three big flies were already enjoying the wares. The staff were not in the least worried about this lapse of hygiene. Why is the food not covered especially in hot weather ?

Noticed the branch had opened in Bromley so went there on a Sunday morning for Breakfast. The food looked interesting so ordered a drink but suddenly thought I should make sure they took cask as I like to control my spending. The young server, sneeringly, said 'oh no, it is card only'. There wasn't a sign saying this. I have a card but the attitude put me off so I went across to Café Nero which does take cash. I am used to German shops which prefer cash and not condescending to customers using the national currency. They should have signs by the door explaining card only.

The one loo is next to the kitchen, downstairs, so a problem for several groups. There was no handwash, the drier was broken and no paper towels. Grim

We used to love Gails. Nice places to sit, and they did the best two cakes in the world. Baked cheesecake (plain with a few actual berries on top, none of the overly sweet jelly nonsense) and the best carrot cake ever made. But you had to be quick as they generally sold out. They were the reason we went. It was always disappointing if they sold out of them (meaning we'd generally not stay). They were the perfect size. We'd order tea and one of each chake, shared between me, my wife and son. We'd eat them slowly, savouring every mouthful. They were the perfect size too. It was a real treat. Pure joy. We'd get excited about going, even my son who really isn't into treats like this in general. But this was different. "Can we go" he'd yell as soon as we mentioned 'Gail's'. Then, for reasons that make no sense to me, they stopped doing both the cheesecake and carrot cake. They stole ouy joy, replacing them with…well, nothing. The pastries always seemed overcooked, nothing they did was anywhere near the same quality as those two little boxed cakes of delight. In fact all Gails now seem a bit dumbed down, expensive but without the quality. Occasionally we pop in to see if they have brought the cakes back, but no. I wrote to head office and got an automated reply saying they just stopped doing them. So there is no reason to go to Gail's any more. None. Zero. Nada. Unless they bring back the cakes.

We have been really sick (norovirus symptoms) following a visit to your cafe yesterday. It is no surprise given the poor level of hygiene witnessed by your kitchen staff. No one was wearing gloves and they went from making sandwiches to taking croissants off trays to wiping surfaces and hoovering. Worst of all not a single time did I witnessed any hand washing and surely gloves when handling food is an absolutely minimum requirement. I witnessed one of the kitchen staff dropping a bagel on the floor only to put it back on the tray for someone to purchase. Granted I go to the Greenwich outlet more than this one but swift action needs to be taken here!

There was some confusion in our order and a staff member named Pedro sorted everything quickly with good sense and charm. Oh - delicious food and drinks too!

Customer service is very bad. If you want to buy coffee, go to Starbucks and soho. Bread is not clean and hygienic.

What an absolute gem of a place. The quality and range of choice is amazing - not often I genuinely struggle to make a choice for the very best reasons. Despite being very busy - this was the morning of London Marathon - the service was polite and efficient. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Went to Gail's on marathon morning before the race. SO glad we did! Fabulous choice of food, with options for g/free, vegan etc. Efficient and friendly service (especially as they were bombarded) Coffee is really good! Cafe was clean and plenty of seating inside and out. Yes, it's relatively expensive- but it is in London, and it is TOP quality product. I think it was really good value especially considering how businesses have also been hit hard by rising costs. Well done Gail's xxxx
