Recently went to Fumi Brighton for a girl's night out and they did not disappoint. The food was amazing, lots of variety to choose from, highly recommend it! The service was top-notch, special thanks to Adrian and Luca for accommodating us and making sure we were well looked after. We’ll definitely come back 🫶🏼

Incredible food, we opted for the “experience menu” and each dish was better than the last and the cocktails were to die for!

The serving staff were sweet but absolutely clueless. They may have just grabbed some nice students walking by an hour before and said “they will do”. They didn’t know anything about the food, cocktails and worst of all never removed one empty glass or used plate the entire evening. Our mains came while there were stacked starters with prawn tails etc and finished cocktail glasses filling the table. Oh I should note the mains all came at separate times (not sharing small plates). We had to go up to the counter several times to get service, more drinks etc no one even asked if we wanted pudding. The food was average. Fish dishes were over salted. Design of the room was beautiful, but I would not return.

One of the best restaurants in Brighton if you like Japanese food. Genuinely cooked ingredients and amazing service. The restaurant is really modern and I like the whole concept. Really recommend it.

Very friendly /,great staff , great cocktails, but way over priced for quality of food . Nicely presented but just slightly better than Wagamamas !!!! Starter was £16 for 2 small slices of beef, it was more expensive than the main Bento Box !!! How can this be ? A very limited lunch menu and not really any atmosphere. Don’t waste your money there are way better in Brighton.

Great spot for Japanese food. The omakase was great, really nice different selection of their dishes. Left very full. Manager went the extra mile to make sure we had a great experience. Great decor and feel.

Three of us came here for dinner on a Thursday night, our first time. It’s a lovely large space with beautiful décor. We chose some smaller dishes to share to start with, tempura prawns and marinated red mullet and tuna tataki. The prawns and red mullet were very nice, the tuna was a minuscule portion and so thin I could barely pick it up with chopsticks, it was also supposed to be with a slaw which was nowhere to be see unless you call a micro-herb a slaw. For mains I had sea bass with clams and samphire, the fish was perfectly cooked, I had a little grit in the clams, overall nothing special and not discernibly Japanese. My partner had a pork belly dish which was a very small for the price. Our friend had noodles with beef tenderloin which was a big bowl of vegetable noodles with a couple of small slices of beef on top. The food here is overpriced for what you get, the portions of the protein are tiny, it does not represent value for money here at all. Also the waiter needs proper training, I asked what one dish was on the menu and he didn’t know and had to get the manager to come and explain which is ridiculous, waiting staff should know the menu inside out. We also received a drink to our table which was not meant for us and also a plate of food which wasn’t ours and this was on a really quiet night with hardly any tables. We shared two bottles of wine and our bill came to just under £200 for the 3 of us because they whacked on an additional £17.70 for service although it hadn’t even been very good! Then to add insult to injury, with the bill we were handed a token allowing us 30% off our meal in January if we prebook (we were a walk in). A better restaurant would have taken 30% off our bill there and then. Sadly we wouldn’t rush back here anytime soon based on all the points above and I can’t see this restaurant lasting unless it starts to give customers better value for money.

Food was exceptional, literally just fab but and it’s a big but, the service is just weird. Waiter forgot some of the order, wrong wine, served a wrong drink. Sadly, as cut throat as Brighton and Hove is, service could be their downfall!!!

With a twarm greeting, the striking stylish decor, elegant menu and spacious tables, we were excited. Whole family outing with two fussy eaters, meant it was a risk. Not so: a plate of salmon nigiri (oh that’s amazing said fussy eater1) to the grilled garlic sprouts (hit with fussy eater 2) everything surprised and delighted. Each item was cooked with care and precision in this Californian style Japanese experience. Even the Prosecco was crisply perfect. Service was careful , caring and quick. Brilliant !

Exceptional! The food, the staff, the ambience all absolutely top notch. We had the 6 course tasting menu and it was honestly one of the best meals we have ever had, and we have eaten at some fancy places! We can’t wait to go back and try a bento box, this is definately our new Brighton favourite restaurant! We will certainly be back and would 100% recommend. The sushi was the best we have ever eaten, and by far the best in Brighton, and we have tried them all on many occasions . The blackened cod incredible, truly a treat for the taste buds, every course was wonderful. Give it a go! Ignore the negative reviews, it’s amazing food, service and ambience!

The design and aesthetic alone 10/10. Food 10/10 (got the bento box for a selection fairly priced for the amount) service 10/10. I look forward to returning in the evening with a big group of friends maybe for a birthday perhaps. 😋

Terrible Service from the start from ill informed and untrained staff. Was told the Bento Box selected was Meat only but when arrived contained Prawns and Fish, bit of a problem when previously mentioned wife's crustacean allergy! Tasteless food, amazing for Japanese cuisine. Only people in Restaurant at 1.00pm on Friday just before Xmas! we should have read warning signs. AVOID at all costs.

Visited today with family. Lovely, simple decor creating a serene feel. You can eat full.meals or pop in for excellent coffee. I had a sumptuous bowl of teriyaki beef with noodles, my son and fiancée teriyaki chicken and sushi. You can also have a tray selection of delicacies and Miso soup. There are vegetarian and vegan options. Staff are so lovely. The restaurant is behind Grand Parade, in Circus street, turn down Kingswood street, just next to the White Brighton University Grand Parade building I say this because it is tucked away and needs to be made known to everyone as fantastic! Visit NOW.

This restaurant has the potential to be excellent, but would benefit from a little more work on the decor, to make the place feel less like a converted pre-fab building and more like a high-end Japanese restaurant. For example, the ceilings are so high, it makes the place feel huge, and it would benefit from being lowered e.g. Japanese style drapes, or a false ceiling. Also, there is no cloakroom and no entrance way so to speak, so you just walk straight into the restaurant. Cheap/bad smelling soap in the loos, no hand-dryers or paper towel dispensers on the wall etc. Just a bit unfinished feeling. Service was very friendly but a little slow at points, but it felt like all the staff were working hard, so perhaps too few of them? Very close to being a superb restaurant.....I hope they up the ante a little bit, as I would like to be a repeat diner!

Our waitress was very friendly and attentive which made up for the lackadaisical attitude of the other staff. Food was a mixed bag: Wagyu Katsu Maki was the best dish we had by far. Other than that pretty average have had the same for a lot less, wagyu tataki was nice but very hard to mess this up. Beef fillet tataki was completely ruined by the waiter pouring soy sauce all over it - could have served us cardboard in soy and would have tasted the same it was so overpowering. Other dishes were average. Very upmarket styling and pricing for such a bad area of the city - as we are we watched two people fight over and smash a wine bottle outside and there was faeces all over the street directly outside the front door.

Just too unreliable to recommend. I've had a couple of decent, reasonably priced meals here but, more often than not, have had to wait nearly an hour from ordering for my food to arrive. When it finally comes, it's often been bland and unappetising. The fact that the floors, tables and most surfaces are covered in a rather unpleasant sticky substance does not help matters. Despite wanting for it to improve, I'm giving up on this place. There are so many better, more authentic restaurants, serving decent Japanese and Korean style food, in Brighton.

I've been coming to Tonkotsu for some years now, both London and Brighton. The quality and flavours have never changed, love them completely. My main problem is with the ramen portions, they used to be HUGE. And yes, it was difficult to finish them and yei for no more food waste, but the prices didn't go down with the portions. That has bugged me ever since. Even so, love the food, nice atmosphere and always great service. I still go there so, yeah, love them.

Sushi mania is always my go to. Really good value for money and the food is delicious. I would avoid it during busy times as the service considerably slows down (expected) but also the food quality lowers. But overall still one of my regular places 🧡

Moshimo was lovely. We went as a huge 20-person group, and the staff accommodated that amazingly. I tried the sea-bass ceviche, which was only okay to me, it kind of tasted like cockles, like to the T, which wasn't awful and it was definitely fresh but not my cup of tea. However, a friend and I shared a £40 sushi boat, which more than made up for the mediocre ceviche. It was absolutely delicious, fresh, and looked beautiful. I was super full after sharing the sushi boat and the starter. It was an expensive meal if you're on a budget, definitely a once a month thing for me, but it was really enjoyable!
