We dined in this delightful restaurant in the Feathers hotel and as it was the last night before lockdown the restaurant was particularly busy. The waiters however kept their cool as well as their professional standard and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was excellent and well presented with a fair choice available to suit most palates. We can thoroughly recommend this restaurant for an evening out in the beautiful country town of Ledbury.

I ordered food and a drink two weeks ago and I never received my drink, but after speaking to a waitress she brought over our drinks. Then we gave it a second go and I ordered food and drink, this time I received two different items to what I ordered. The waitress who served us was not the waiter who took our order and she provided me with the correct food, but at the end I was then charged for a completely different order and not what I ate. Worst of all I was charged a service charge for not receiving my order and for receiving the wrong order and the wrong bill and therefore a different service charge to what I was supposed to pay. I contacted the hotel regarding the incorrect bill and terrible service and I was completely ignored. I did not stay in the hotel just used the restaurant for business breakfast.

We did not stay at this hotel - just had a table for lunch on the recommendation of my Aunt and Uncle.Had lunch at this establishment last weekend with my Uncle and Aunt who live in Upper Colwall. I was extremely nervous about physically going in to any eatery as obviously you can’t wear a mask to eat! My fears, however, were put to rest with the measures that had been put in place. Tables were set to be socially distanced, the restaurant was spotlessly clean and the staff were very respectful. When the waitress (who I personally felt should have perhaps been masked and gloved up maybe?) brought our menus, I asked if they were disposable and she confirmed that they were. Once we’d finished with them, she put our names on them and set them aside for our dessert choice. When the cutlery arrived, wrapped in napkins, I asked if they’d been thoroughly cleaned and she again confirmed that they had been. The glasses were spotless. I felt quite comfortable in the environment that had been created in light of the pandemic. My only criticism would be that I felt that all tables should have had screening next to them - it was a little unnerving seeing only a few screens dotted around. I feel that I would have felt totally safe had there been more screens. The toilets were absolutely spotless and very clean, although I sanitised the seat before using the loo!As for the food - it was first class - we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the Peach Melba knickerbocker glories were to die for!! I would highly recommend The Feathers in Ledbury for a meal at the current time, and as already noted, my only suggestions would be that there were more screens and the waiting staff should perhaps wear a mask and gloves.

Fuggles used to have an old world charm with a lovely dining room, divided into discrete areas. Now it’s like a motorway cafe with lines of tables. I suppose it allows more “covers” during dining hours but the place now completely lacks any sort of sort of atmosphere. It appears more like an extension to the bar so that might account for the “pub like” food. The menu was not very inspiring either although I must say that the pulled pork and celeriac croquets and the roast rump of lamb were excellent but it appears that most of the other choices made by the other five members of our family party were disappointing. Not inedible but lacking flavour. Also for “pub food”, it was severely over-priced. The service has remained good and I must complement the waitress who was very patient with an elderly relative taking an inordinate amount of time to choose his glass of wine. Having dined here several times over the years and always been pleased, I won’t be rushing back.

We stayed at The Feathers for a couple of nights and thought we might have Dinner at their in-house Brasserie ( hardly a proper Restaurant as it is really just an extension of the Bar) which also serves as the place for Breakfast - not as satisfactory as the old dedicated Breakfast Room. Fuggles has been re-furbished and some of the decor is fairly memorable being not over plumed with drear pictures of feathers. The food was not memorable though the prices for a Country Pub eatery were; the Feathers always had hefty charges for (not always decent) wine and the tradition cntinues.

On behalf of my wife and a friend who dropped in for lunch yesterday and both ordered the fish cakes. Very disappointing. Two fish cakes each the size of Jaffa cakes. They were bland and tasteless - too much potato in the mix? Accompanied by some nice chips and a small portion of salad. For the price: £14 they felt it was very poor value for money.

Visited the recently refurbished coffee lounge, as they say in the north "All fur coat and no knickers"OK they have done a great refurbishment job and the coffee lounge does look smart but it ends there for me. The sign outside boasts "trained baristas" whoever trained them needs sacking. On ordering coffee and cakes at the bar I asked for the cups to be preheated as an espresso soons goes tepid if put in an unheated cup, the person at the machine just did not get it and did not seem to have a clue as to how to warm a cup, most good baristas I know automatically preheat an espresso cup. After ordering at the bar drinks and cakes etc are brought to the table, so we waited ............. and waited ........... about 15 minutes later coffee arrived minus the cakes a few minutes later they eventually arrived. How does it take 15 minutes to make and deliver a coffee and than forget the other half of the order !!As for the coffee more like a ristretto or at best a single espresso for sure not a double as ordered. It was just warm by the time it arrived not hot as it should be. Service awful, coffee poor, cakes were OK though. At Feathers prices you would expect top quality service and products. For this place to succeed they need to put a lot more effort in and learn to deliver what paying customers ask for.

The Feather's Hotel has recently undergone a major transformation following a refurbishment. So, the old, tired interior has been replaced with a magnificent, contemporary and quirky interior. It looks majestic and luxurious. The coffee shop has been beautifully kitted out with great furniture and art. It is very now and of this moment. The bar and lounge are equally elegant. However, it is the restaurant that takes pride of place in this hotel. The restaurant is sophisticated and modern. The furniture chic and a pleasure to behold. The staff are great. They are friendly, professional and a credit to the Hotel. The coffee shop is a great place to relax and chill out. The coffee is smooth and at £3.10 for a large latte or cappucino, reasonably priced when compared to other similiar coffee shops, hotels or restaurants. The food is delicious, well presented and tasty. My guests had the fish and chips with mushy peas. It cost £15.00 and was generous in its portion size. The batter was crisp and the fish sweet. It was well cooked and nicely presented. I had the lamb rump for £18.00. It was accompanied by polenta chips and sauteed greens. It was delicious and the lamb was perfectly cooked. However, I did think that just two pieces of lamb, which were small, was a tad stingy. I think at the very least, there should be a third slice. The polenta chips with basil were nice, but again, it would have felt more like a complete meal if there were a few more on the plate. At £18.00 it was a pricey dish and could have done with a slightly more generous portion. I think that this dish should be reviewed. We all opted for the toffee apple croissant bread and butter pudding with brown bread ice cream. The bread and butter pudding was gorgeous. It was a dream and tasted divine. It was light but still had that slightly stodgy element which made it feel naughty! The ice cream was nice, but I would have been unable to tell you that it was brown bread ice cream. It could perhaps do with a bit of a lift and up the amount 'brown bread' flavour within it. The dessert was also served with some custard or creme anglaise as the chef would no doubt call it! At £6.50 it was a fair price for a decent sized pudding. I like to judge a place by the standard of their bathrooms and The Feather's Hotel has beautiful toilets, which are clean, modern and are as good as any I have visited during my visits to high end hotels. There is also a plesant seating area to the rear of the hotel. Whilst there aren't any views, it is a nice place to spend a sunny day. In short, the refurbishment of The Feather's Hotel has been a triumph and the onus is now on the team in charge to build on these high standards and it can only be a matter of time before awards are forthcoming!

We have visited The Feathers on many occasions because it has always been that special place locally to dine out. This was our first visit since the renovations...Unfortunately it has not changed for the better. Previously the decor was old but in a timeless and unique way. Now everything has been stripped back to reveal one large space where once there were cosy booths. The lighting is bright from above- the candles on the tables may as well not be there as they cannot be seen. The tables are of the cheapest quality and combined with the chairs give a dated look reminiscent of a Wetherspoon pub. Unfortunately the service has also gone downhill. We waited for menus, for drinks, and ages for food. The food itself was ok but expensive for what it was- more gastropub than fine dining. Such a shame. If you are looking for a special place to eat in the area then I recommend The Verzons.

Our friends booked to have a meal to meet up for a social evening together. We were most disappointed with the menu. Basically it is now pub-food. Under the previous owners the menu was different and interesting, some flair without being pretentious. The ambience is still very pleasant, but the restaurant was far from busy while in earlier times it was always very lively. Sadly a restaurant that was always a reliable venue for a good meal seems have become very mediocre. I doubt it will be our choice in future.

My mother treated us to lunch as her birthday outing: we only booked earlier in the morning and the restaurant was pleasantly busy without being too noisy. We had attentive pleasant service (including the prompt arrival of water!!) and were able to make variations on the menu to suit mum. A good straightforward range of meals included several veggie options at a fair price for the venue. The wine by the glass was a bit pricey.... I would have had beer but there were only three on tap, all of which were a bit unusual. My cider drinking mother was better off with a plain Stowfords! Altogether a very happy lunchtime excursion.

Back after some 2 years and it was a bit of a shock to see the 'corporatisation' of what was once an independent hotel. Although the front of house and Fuggles was as good as ever, the menu has been reduced in scope and vision and the wine list decimated. But I guess that's progress. Our starters of Arancini and Chargrilled Peach looked interesting but both disappointing; no crab whatsoever and far too much salad leaves that were totally unnecessary, adding nothing to the dish. There could have been relish, walnuts and glaze - but not the leaves! Fortunately our mains of Lamb Rump and Chicken were both excellent and saved the day being beautifully cooked and presented, going down nicely with a bottle of sensibly priced Cote du Rhone Blanc. We finished with our usual americanos with hot milk. But what sticks in the mind is that having paid over £100 for a two-course dinner, when remarking to the waiter that we weren't served with bread rolls we were told that we now have to pay for them at £3 each! What a mean, penny pinching attitude for a 25p roll and butter. Bad publicity for the sake of 25p!

Dropped into Fuggles one Saturday lunchtime in January and was immediately welcomed into a warm cosy environment with a log fire in the corner. Experience further enhanced by the cloth napkins and the bowl of warm home made breads once we had ordered.I ordered the devilled chicken livers with caramelised onion croute which were cooked perfectly with just the correct degree of heat. This was followed by their beef and venison burger which although perhaps a tad overcooked was delicious and succulent. I ordered a mixed salad on the side but that was unnecessary as the burger came with sufficient. My wife was a little disappointed with the salt cured salmon, bit too fishy for her taste, but declared her supreme of chicken on a chorizo and white bean risotto moist and very tasty. Ice creams were a little disappointing for taste and my vanilla still had a few ice crystals in it.The ambience of the room was good for a damp cold day but probably a bit dull in summer sunshine. They do offer outside seating which while not very welcoming in the middle of January would probably be very pleasant later in the year. Definitely coming back to the best place we have found so far to the west of the Malverns. Only minus point is that some of the seating could do with some tlc; the banquette my wife was sitting on had seen much better days.

We were provided with menus and then waited to be offered drinks. It wasn't particulary busy and the ambience was a bit subdued; I almost lost the will to live before our server decided to return and take our order (getting attention seemed impossible and the lady who served us gave the impression she didn't really want to be there). The other staff were very pleasant but seemed a bit harassed. From this point on everything was ok and our starters arrived very quickly. The food itself was pleasant without being particularly memorable. It was an expensive meal (for my dad ha ha) and the service let it down. Starters were twice baked Gruyere soufflé, which was delicious with a chili jam and artichoke hearts. Welsh lamb rack followed that was cooked just right and tender. Lemon posset for dessert did not disappoint. I even got 3 slices of very good bread while I browsed the menu. 2nd night gambled in the fillet steak (I find much of English meat tough and chewy) fortunately, with locally sourced beef, my steak was just as I ordered it and superbly tender. Starter was smoked feta in a pepper with salad. Dessert was locally sourced cheeses, which were very good, and biscuits. Service was relaxed and attentive when needed. Would I come back? Absolutely!

Fuggles has improved a lot over the past few years and now provides excellent food with an interesting wine list (as well as a well stocked bar). It falls somewhere between mid-range and fine dining. The midweek menus are reasonably priced and the food, largely local, is well cooked - as well as roasts and grills they also do an excellent job with the 'fritto misto' and other deep fried items. Portions are generally substantial and service freindly.

Just returned from a lovely meal here, it was a Monday night so not busy, just enough clientele to make it lively enough. The food was cooked and presented beautifully. The service was spot on with just the right time between courses. There were 3 real ales on tap, I tried two and they were both well kept and in good condition. All in all a pleasant experience, not ridiculously priced either. Well done Fuggles!

Everything is so well done. The food is well cooked, flavoured and presented; table service is well done without being intrusive; and we all leave - every time - with a feeling of well-being. Never noisy but always jolly, Fuggles is a firm family favourite for a good lunch or dinner at any time of year for a special 'do' or just because we feel like it. Book as it's usually busy, even weekdays.

We ate at Fuggles to celebrate a special occasion. It was fantastic. Service a little slow at times, but the food was really delicious and we all agreed. I have actually emailed the hotel to see if they will pass on the recipe for my starter...I enjoyed it that much I want to try to recreate it myself!

My wonderful daughters treated me to dinner here last Saturday for my 60th.It was wonderful. The atmosphere was terrific, big log fire, not noisy, cosy and prettily decorated for Christmas . The food was simply yummy. We all three did lots of ooo's and mmmmm's whilst eating.I had a salmon and prawn salad for starter which had the most amazing flavours in it. There was enough salmon for a main course! Followed by duck breasts with roasted artichokes, butternut and potatoe...I think. One daughter had a sirloin stake she raved about and the other lamb which she also loved. We didn't do pudds as too full.We all live a long way from Ledbury, but I'd make a detour to eat here again any day!

this brasserie situated in a very nice classical hotel in Ledbury called The Feathers specialises in afternoon tea and while it is not my favourite time of the day to eat and I am not a sweet tooth it was a good experience with good sandwiches and quite a variety of cakes. Part of the Feathers Hotel, we arrived quite late but a table after 9pm was no trouble. Service was good, cheese shuffle excellent and the mains we had (Beef fillet & venison) were well sourced and perfectly cooked. There were not that many customers late on but (Or perhaps because of this) service was very friendly and prompt and at no time were we rushed. Excellent meal in nice surroundings. Shame about the name, the only thing I could really find fault with. Beware though, it is not a cheap restaurant, nor does it have Michelin Star pretentions!

Visited last Saturday for a family lunch. décor slightly dated, but initial service was polite and attentive, and this continued throughout a good meal. Reasonably long and varied menu; I found the sardine starter particularly tasty. Very good chips, and a good and well kept cheese board. All in all a very pleasant lunch and wouldn't hesitate to eat there again.

We had booked to eat at the Fuggles Brasserie!!! Saturday night . The table was booked for 8:30pm. On arrival we went to the bar ordered some drinks & said to the bar person "We have booked a table for two for 8:30" she said OK gave us our drinks & served some one else. We found a seat & waited for someone to approach us.... the bar person came up to us & gave us two menus & walked off.She didn't bother explaining anything on the menu or recommending anything either ..Well we waited at least 25mins for her to come back & take our order, but no no one came eventually we got up & walked out.I have never been so badly treated we didn't even get to eat the food!!!. For this company to say on the bottom of there menu "A 10% service charge will be added to your bill" Is the BIGGEST JOKE i have ever read. out of 48 restaurants in Ledbury this place is ranked 21... which i find hard to believe with service like we experienced i would have put them at 40 ... They will NOT be getting our ££ any time soon....

Short but imaginative menu with some quite unusual touches. The attention to detail is first class. Four of us visited on a Saturday evening when the place was busy, but not overly so, and nothing felt rushed. The dining area has a relaxing atmosphere and tables are well spaced. The menu is well thought out and not too long which we always take as a good sign. The staff were friendly and helpful and very willing to check a menu query with the kitchen. All the dishes were nicely presented and competently done. The final bill turned out to be surprisingly modest, certainly better value than some gastropubs with more style than substance. One suggestion, the bread service seemed a bit too formal for a brasserie setting - just providing a basket to the table would work better, I think.

I love this hotel for its timelessness, olde world feel and comfortable squishy chairs in front of a log fire. This theme carries into their brasserie and is a super place to have a meal. The double baked cheese souffle for our starters was delicioius served with an outstanding fig and onion chutney. Sadly the hake with crab and potato croquettes did not deliver - the hake was tasteless and the croquette a rather soggy apology of mashed potato in a unappetising crumbed lump - not impressed at all - sorry to say. The burger looked good and maybe we should have stuck to hamburgers? Pudding fared much better with very, very chocolatey icecream and a marvellous creme brulee. Pity about the fish - hake at the best of times can tend to be bland and boring - a little bit more imagination needed with this dish. Would we return for a ladies lunch - yes - but would not order the fish. Ample parking available behind the hotel with easy access from the back entrance for the less mobile and if the weather is fine, a lovely seating area outside with pretty planters and attractive outdoor furniture.

Lovely surroundings with hops on the ceilings, very pretty. The gentleman who welcomed us was very polite, helpful and well spoken He was unsure if he had room for 3 of us, but managed to squeeze us in which we were extremely grateful for. The menu was excellent and we had trouble making a selection. We felt very awkward however when two of the other evening staff began work and started discussing whether or not we should have had a table or not, and this was only 3 feet away from my husband who heard every word. The food was very good except the chocolate cheesecake which was very dry and had tough oats in the base

We had booked for an early supper on a Bank Holiday Sunday to find Fuggles pretty full and a distinctly harried staff who had been caught out by an early rush of walk-ins. Apologies were offered early on and staff numbers quickly reinforced with young and well trained staff. In fact food arrived soon after ordering - fresh , big portions, nothing fancy, good basic brasserie food well presented . The unexpected surprise was that our drinks had been taken off the bill in view of the initial waiting time - a classic example of turning a potential disappointment and complaint into a strong and positive result !

The title says it all really! I ate here with friends on a cold and wet night in February. We all met in the lounge area which was elegant, but cosy. The decoration and furniture were stylish and suited the tudor architecture well. In the brasserie itself, the brick and oak panelled walls complemented the hop clad ceiling and the seating was very comfortable. The food was great - most of us had fillet or sirloin steaks and all were cooked exactly as requested (from rare, right the way through to well done). The prices for the steaks varied from £20 (sirloin) through to £25 (fillet), but the sauces were an additional cost. This is the only slight moan, as I thought that these could perhaps have been included, considering the cost of the steak. However, the sauces were delicious and the chips cooked to perfection. All the dishes were well presented and the service was friendly but also efficient (the two don't always go together!!). All in all, highly recommended.

We stopped off here for Sunday lunch on our way back from a wedding in Hereford the day before. We hadn't booked but managed to get a table for the 2 of us. The setting is lovely - situated in The Feathers Hotel - the front of which is an old Tudor building. Great atmosphere in the restaurant - lots of dark wood, hops hanging from the ceiling and good quality furniture, and table settings. We had a glass of wine each, which was very good. The service was friendly and efficient. And, there, I'm afraid it ends. We both had a roast dinner - I had the turkey, and he had the beef. If I had been served my meal at my local supermarket cafe, for a third of the price, I would have accepted it, but not here (hubby's meal cost £17.95). The turkey slices were dry. The gravy tasted like it had been made with gravy granules - and too concentrated. The roast potatoes were soggy (as though they had been reheated). There was one ball of dry stuffing, and one tiny sausage wrapped in bacon. Hubby said his meal was no better. The best bit of it was the bowl of mixed vegetables we shared which were colourful and well cooked. Neither of us could face a dessert, so we just had coffee (in a cafetiere) with hot milk (which was nice) and left. Maybe we just hit a bad day. Maybe they were meals that had been reheated? Whatever the reason, our expectations, given the lovely surroundings, were sorely disappointed.

This is the restaurant of The Feathers Hotel and named Fuggles because of connections to the brewing industry and hops. Hops hang down from the wooden beams making the character of the restaurant. The blazing log fire is also a warm attraction.A very good choice of food and wines. I had mussels (and the sauce had to be finished with a spoon) ,very good venison and apple crumble. All well presented and with good sized portions. The staff were helpful smiley people and this is one of the best, if not the best, restaurants in the historic town of Ledbury. Go there!
