Fuegos Street in Portsmouth

Became one of my favourite restaurants in Portsmouth/Southsea to go to. Love the smashed tacos and cheesy dome bread. Probably spelt her name wrong but our waitress Babbi was very helpful

Fuegos is a wonderful place to eat, their flavours are peerless, their burritos a thing to travel for. Make sure you book to ensure you get a table. Definitely going back here asap.

We've been regulars at Fuegos for a while, and they have some of the best food in Portsmouth! Their birria tacos, burritos, and dome bread are amazing. Service is wonderful and food is always fresh and delicious. Bhavi is always very friendly and accommodating. She's been kind to us on every visit and sweet to the kids. Thanks! Definitely recommend if you want a cosy, kid-friendly restaurant.

Food was lovely but a family member put £50 on our reservation as a nice surprise and no staff member let us know and we paid the full price. The same family member went back the next day to get their money back and they began by saying we never turned up, when shown proof we was there they tried to back track it and say they was confused as we split the bill ,so they just didn't mention the £50?? A shame because the food was good and the staff seemed like good people but they had no intention of telling us clearly. PS the staff knew the table was for Holly for 8:30 we did not say it was for Harry, one of the staff said they remember speaking to a Holly over the phone booking the table.

We love this place, the food and service is always amazing. We were served by Bhavi today and she was super welcoming and attentive, making our dining experience even better!

Finally writing this review after a couple of weeks. Came in on a Tuesday night for dinner and the ambience was amazing. The food in general was outstanding, but the tacos in particular were absolutely superb. And to add some sprinkles on top to make the night even better, I had a superb waitress called Bavi who provided excellent service and was very kind and polite throughout a busy night. I will definitely be back and make sure to recommend it to family and friends.

After enjoying many halal options in Southampton, I decided to try a restaurant in Portsmouth that was said to serve halal food. Unfortunately, i couldn’t see a halal sign at the entrance—a small but essential detail. When I asked inside, the hesitant “yes” I received did little to reassure me. The menu was another letdown, with font so tiny it was difficult to read, especially in the dim lighting. Unsure about the halal status, I played it safe and ordered calamari and falafel, as I trust more places that confidently display their halal certification or sign. The food was overpriced and disappointing. The calamari wrap was mostly salad with just a few small pieces of calamari—it felt more like a salad wrap. The falafel was slightly better, but the portions were noticeably small for the price. As for the hummus, it came in a tiny, dip-sized portion that felt like an insult—an absolute rip-off. In short, it’s not worth the trip. Southampton has plenty of clearly halal options that offer much better quality and value.

Amazing food and amazing Staff, Bhavi and Yamin were very kind and made sure the everything was good at the table. Bhavi also made good recommendations and left us loyalty cards, I’ll definitely be back to fill that card

Amazing food every time we've been probably tried half the menu now & everything recommended has never disappointed. Venue is really chill, spacious with great ambience. The staff front of house and kitchen are always so friendly and happy to talk you through the various dishes. Hats off to our most recent waitress's Bhavi & Marie - coming again tonight so see you later xx

Phoenix is an excellent waitress very helpful and kind

Cold restaurant, we were all freezing. Uncomfortable chairs. Food didn't arrive at our table all at the same time. 2 meals arrived, then coleslaw arrived, about 5 mins later 2 more meals arrived then 4 minutes later one portion of fries then another couple of minutes the other portion of fries arrived. Food wasn't great. Such a shame as we have wated to try this place for a while ☹️

Came to celebrate my sisters birthday and we had a table for when they opened. I’ve come here a few times now for dinner with friends and lunches and for bday meals, and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. Food is always delicious and fresh.

Attended with my wife and daughter. Range of options to suit us all were excellent. Food was excellent. Very accessible and spacious to allow my 6 year old space. Staff were courteous and attentive throughout. Well furnished and very clean throughout. Toilets were spotless and scented. Vegan options available and attentive to allergies as well.

Amazing food, amazing ambience and amazing staff 😊 10/10

This was my second time going to Fuegos and I went with family (group of 6), the food especially the birria tacos are amazing, one of the best places for tacos! Most of the food we had was delicious, like the smash burger, beef birria tacos, chicken wings, sweet potato fries and mexican rice but the only let down this time was the chicken was extremely dry, we ordered a platter and chose the flavour hot for the chicken but it just had no flavour and was definitely lacking but the wings which were in medium flavour were complete opposite, so juicy and tender and literally fell off the bone. The other thing I would say is the table was way too small for 6 grown adults, we weren't comfortable and it was very awkward trying to eat the food as the space was limited, and we couldn't change it as all the other tables were reserved so I definitely think they need to think about this for future reservations. I will be going back but will avoid the chicken this time round, but other than that great service and portion sizes are massive and definitely good value for money.

Went here spontaneously for a meal - they had space for us last minute which was useful. The portions were massive and very filling so be aware of this! The food was pretty quick and very tasty. I had chicken which was very tasty. The milkshakes were also fantastic.

first time visiting this place and was very pleasantly surprised. chicken was lovely, cooked perfectly and great flavours. chips were lush. very decently priced with free refills - will be visiting again soon

Been waiting to try fuegos for a a while now and I can tell you they did not disappoint!! Was worth the wait!! the food was lovely and fresh. The decor was stunning and the staff were lovely! Lovely place to eat and very family friendly my 6 year old loved it! Will definitely be back!

I was travelling from London to visit my friend and we came here yesterday and tried the biria tacos, chicken wings and fries! I was so impressed with the flavours and food! The biria tacos are AMAZING!

We went for our 3 year anniversary, and two of our servers were Bhavi and Zara who were very friendly and attentive! We ordered birria tacos which were amazing, and so was the sauce. The burrito was fully loaded, extremely filling and satisfying. The biggest surprise was the taquitos, which was full of flavour, and crispy. To note, the portion sizes were generous, so consider this when ordering. Overall very satisfied with our visit, would recommend :)

Have been wanting to try the Birria Tacos from here for ages now. Thought they were excellent. I have never had authentic Birria Tacos before so I do not know how they compare to the real thing but they were very good. Meat was a bit dry but obviously that is solved by dipping in the broth. The broth was fantastic too. A little on the expensive side but it is very good quality food. Highly recommend!

Great staff, delicious food came really quick. I’d recommend the beef tacos and chicken burrito and messy fries and unlimited soft drink. Really great will be going back again soon.

Was very welcoming food is reasonably priced and worth the money. The atmosphere is super chilled yet professional still. The decor is appropriate and welcoming, especially the bamboo door to the toilet. Food was tasty. Would happily bring a date here. Look forward to coming back.

Popped in for burritos and fries for lunch. This was my first time and I wasn't disappointed. The food was lovely. So fresh and full of flavour. The portion looked small but by the way end of I was full. Would recommend.

My absolute favourite place to eat in Portsmouth, I’ve eaten here at least ten times since it opened (even twice in a week once) and have never been disappointed by single thing once. Everything I’ve eaten has been 10/10 and have tried a lot of the menu. The staff are always so lovely and helpful. I couldn’t recommend this place enough to my friends and family.

We are a part Mexican part English family recently returned to the U.K. My stepson is on a mission to find great, authentic Mexican food here and was excited when he discovered Fuegos Street just down the road from us in Portsmouth. When we saw they served Birria it was a done deal. We booked a table on a Saturday afternoon and were not disappointed. We ordered Taquitos, Dome Bread and Birria. Everything was just amazing to be honest. As is the case with most Mex restaurants here the food leans toward Tex Mex but the Birria came very close to the traditional, Mexican experience. Everything tasted fresh, was perfectly seasoned and had a home made vibe. Personally for me service is almost as important as the food and everyone was super nice, attentive and really passionate about what they were trying to achieve with the restaurant. With so few, decent Latin American and Mexican restaurants in the U.K. if you love the cuisine you should support Fuegos Street. It’s a gem. Read less

Genuinely fantastic flavours, very rich meat and they're generous with cheese and sauce. Very a customisable menu- so don't be afraid to visit if you're worried about spice. Service was very speedy- would definitely go again!

The chicken wrap was great, recommend the peri peri topped chips also. Great vibe, great staff. Comes with its own social media photo station by the toilets…. 10/10 would eat out a Mexican here again.

Me and my partner went early afternoon so it was quite quiet but it was still a great atmosphere. The food came out very quickly and was cooked brilliantly. We loved the roasted chilli flavour on the chicken wings. My favourite was the taquitos. I would say you don't need a starter or side each as they are generous portion sizes. I'd recommend getting a started and side to share. We also had a kinder Bueno milkshake which I was pleasantly surprised. It tasted amazing and was huge. Would highly recommend coming here.

Walked in today with my husband and son for a late lunch. The food was lovely, and as a coeliac, it was awesome to have the birria tacos as a gluten free option! Absolutely made my day. The food was tasty and everyone was happy. The young woman serving was lovely!

Really great authentic Mexican food for a good price too. They also sell a really great Mexican soda called Jarritos! Really worth a try!😎

Came here for lunch today and I had a small chicken with chips which was very nice, the oreo milkshake was also nice I enjoyed it. The Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere was great.

Went for lunch and the staff were lovely. Very welcoming and friendly. It was a nice relaxed environment. Food arrived quickly, was fairly priced and delicious. We originally ordered the halloumi fries with mint and pomegranate but they apologised as they had none in so we had the halloumi sticks and cranberry instead which was yummy. Whilst we were eating they had received an order of the fries and came out with them complimentary which we really appreciated, especially as they tasted great. Definitely recommend.

Booked a rare family lunch date at Fuegos Street on Elm Grove Southsea on Saturday 2nd November 2024, after recommendation from a family member. Unfortunately the experience was not all pleasant. I ordered the pulled jackfruit burger. It arrived at my table (which was 20 steps from the kitchen at booth 8) COLD! I challenged the waitress immediately, stating i had never tried jackfruit before and wondered if it was meant to be cold, and her reply was ‘the pineappleslaw makes the jackfruit cold’ and she causally walked off. I took this as it happens regularly. The burger tasted awful, but after the response from the waitress I felt I had no choice, but to suck it up and continue eating a cold burger, I only ate half of my meal, it was not a nice experience. We also ordered the garlic dome bread & nachos for starters, both of these items were ok. Also my son & his Dad ordered the burritos apparently also ok. I’m so disappointed with my experience, I very rarely get out as I am a full time unpaid carer for my disabled son, who takes up all my time. I certainly will not recommend Fuegos Street Southsea to anyone I know. Had 2 small starters, 3 mains, 1 milkshake & a bottle of tap water, the meal came to over £61! Totally not worth it. I will not be returning to this establishment as a paying customer, there are too many better food options in Portsmouth. I really wanted to love this place but it has a huge disappointment.

I went to this place today and throughly enjoyed myself. I'm a fussy eater so, despite passing this place most days, I was scared to try something new. I now regret not comming sooner! The staff here were lovely and the place is decorated nicely. In terms of food, I had the boneless chicken platter with fries and corn on the cob and my partner had the pulled beef burger with fries. We also shared the churros for dessert. All of the food was incredible and the price was fantastic, especially as the portions are rather generous. I would recommend trying this place and hope to visit there again soon!
