Fuegos Street in Portsmouth

We are a part Mexican part English family recently returned to the U.K. My stepson is on a mission to find great, authentic Mexican food here and was excited when he discovered Fuegos Street just down the road from us in Portsmouth. When we saw they served Birria it was a done deal. We booked a table on a Saturday afternoon and were not disappointed. We ordered Taquitos, Dome Bread and Birria. Everything was just amazing to be honest. As is the case with most Mex restaurants here the food leans toward Tex Mex but the Birria came very close to the traditional, Mexican experience. Everything tasted fresh, was perfectly seasoned and had a home made vibe. Personally for me service is almost as important as the food and everyone was super nice, attentive and really passionate about what they were trying to achieve with the restaurant. With so few, decent Latin American and Mexican restaurants in the U.K. if you love the cuisine you should support Fuegos Street. It’s a gem. Read less

Genuinely fantastic flavours, very rich meat and they're generous with cheese and sauce. Very a customisable menu- so don't be afraid to visit if you're worried about spice. Service was very speedy- would definitely go again!

The chicken wrap was great, recommend the peri peri topped chips also. Great vibe, great staff. Comes with its own social media photo station by the toilets…. 10/10 would eat out a Mexican here again.

Me and my partner went early afternoon so it was quite quiet but it was still a great atmosphere. The food came out very quickly and was cooked brilliantly. We loved the roasted chilli flavour on the chicken wings. My favourite was the taquitos. I would say you don't need a starter or side each as they are generous portion sizes. I'd recommend getting a started and side to share. We also had a kinder Bueno milkshake which I was pleasantly surprised. It tasted amazing and was huge. Would highly recommend coming here.

Awesome food, nice staff, best place in Portsmouth

Walked in today with my husband and son for a late lunch. The food was lovely, and as a coeliac, it was awesome to have the birria tacos as a gluten free option! Absolutely made my day. The food was tasty and everyone was happy. The young woman serving was lovely!

Went for lunch and the staff were lovely. Very welcoming and friendly. It was a nice relaxed environment. Food arrived quickly, was fairly priced and delicious. We originally ordered the halloumi fries with mint and pomegranate but they apologised as they had none in so we had the halloumi sticks and cranberry instead which was yummy. Whilst we were eating they had received an order of the fries and came out with them complimentary which we really appreciated, especially as they tasted great. Definitely recommend.

Came here for lunch today and I had a small chicken with chips which was very nice, the oreo milkshake was also nice I enjoyed it. The Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere was great.

Booked a rare family lunch date at Fuegos Street on Elm Grove Southsea on Saturday 2nd November 2024, after recommendation from a family member. Unfortunately the experience was not all pleasant. I ordered the pulled jackfruit burger. It arrived at my table (which was 20 steps from the kitchen at booth 8) COLD! I challenged the waitress immediately, stating i had never tried jackfruit before and wondered if it was meant to be cold, and her reply was ‘the pineappleslaw makes the jackfruit cold’ and she causally walked off. I took this as it happens regularly. The burger tasted awful, but after the response from the waitress I felt I had no choice, but to suck it up and continue eating a cold burger, I only ate half of my meal, it was not a nice experience. We also ordered the garlic dome bread & nachos for starters, both of these items were ok. Also my son & his Dad ordered the burritos apparently also ok. I’m so disappointed with my experience, I very rarely get out as I am a full time unpaid carer for my disabled son, who takes up all my time. I certainly will not recommend Fuegos Street Southsea to anyone I know. Had 2 small starters, 3 mains, 1 milkshake & a bottle of tap water, the meal came to over £61! Totally not worth it. I will not be returning to this establishment as a paying customer, there are too many better food options in Portsmouth. I really wanted to love this place but it has a huge disappointment.

Been here a few times now and the food is absolutely incredible, I would fully recommend to anyone especially the beef birria tacos!

I went to this place today and throughly enjoyed myself. I'm a fussy eater so, despite passing this place most days, I was scared to try something new. I now regret not comming sooner! The staff here were lovely and the place is decorated nicely. In terms of food, I had the boneless chicken platter with fries and corn on the cob and my partner had the pulled beef burger with fries. We also shared the churros for dessert. All of the food was incredible and the price was fantastic, especially as the portions are rather generous. I would recommend trying this place and hope to visit there again soon!

I regularly order from Fuegos and I occasionally eat at the restaurant too. I'm sadly moving out of their delivery range soon but I'll be sure to still visit. I always recommend the place to my friends and I also recommend it to you. The food: Their food is always enjoyable. I normally go for the pulled beef ultimate burrito, dome bread (honestly amazing) and nachos mexicana. When getting delivery the lining of the foil does stick to the burrito, so its worth adding a note asking for it to be wrapped in paper instead. Good milkshakes too. I've not tried the vegan options myself but my vegan friends have said they taste good. The restaurant: Clean, tidy and well laid out. Even when busy the volume is comfortable enough to still have a conversation. The decor is tasteful and well done. Toilets always clean. Wait times for food are good. Parking: It's Portsmouth, what do you expect. Can normally find something in walking distance. Spice levels: The descriptions on the menu in the restaurant are pretty accurate. "7 chillis" is fun to order if you can keep a straight face when eating it long enough to trick your friend that it isn't spicy, worth ordering a milkshake if you get "7 chillis". "Hot" is a nice balance of flavour and spice. Bare in mind that if you order the dip, it's spicer than if you order the food cooked/marinated in the sauce. Delivery: I live right on the edge of the delivery range for Fuegos so delivery can take a little longer at times, easily sorted by ordering earlier. The food always arrives at a good temperature and the milkshakes always arrive the correct way up so no complaints there.

I’m 99% sure my husband is now in a committed relationship… with a burger. Every time we order from Fuego’s, it’s a home run, but this time, they really pulled out all the stops. Picture this: we’re both completely hungover, barely functioning, and in desperate need of something to bring us back to life. So naturally, we ordered the whole works—a burrito, taquito, a burger, mac ‘n’ cheetos, and dome bread. Pure revival in a takeout bag. Now, back to my husband. He stared at his burger like it was a masterpiece in the Louvre, mesmerized as if he’d finally found "the one." I think he even whispered “perfect” at one point. The food is insane. Honestly it is soooo tasty, and let me tell you they are not stingy! Plenty of sauce, filling, goodness. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Fuegos . The service was really good, and the staff went above and beyond. A special shoutout to the gentleman at the till and the waiters, who were exceptionally attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this place for any special occasion!

Fantastic food. Had the beef tacos birria. The birria dipping sauce is something else! Really fresh tasting and full of flavour. Mac and cheese was also a great side for these. This place really sets the bar for Tex Mex street food.

Delicious food, lovely decor, perfect spot for you and your friends

It was our first time here and we completely loved it. There was a variety of options for everyone including the kids. We tried the grilled chicken with sweet potato fries and chose 7 chilli's for the flavour ( and wow, they did not disappoint - it was amazing). The kids loved the wraps, jalapeños fries and bottomless drinks. The donuts and churros with ice cream at the end crowned it all. Thank you so much Bhavi and Yamin for the warm welcome and top notch service - the dome bread was a pleasant surprise. Definitely dinning here again. I highly recommend Fuegos Street to everyone local to or visiting Portsmouth.

We love it here, I was recently served by a black lady and she gave us such a lovely welcome and made sure everything was okay with our meal! The manager is also great, scrumptious food, fantastic portion, great atmosphere, also aesthetic for photos!

The best restaurant I’ve found in Portsmouth. Tried it out personally and then Fuegos were so kind as to host a work party for 25. The atmosphere is amazing, food is next level and the service is absolutely immaculate. Special shout out to Yamin, Bhabi, Marie and Chabely who made the night absolutely seamless as these big bookings are usually a logistical nightmare. Thank you once again.

Fantastic Food and Warm Hospitality at Fuegos Street I recently dined at Fuegos Street several times while traveling from Scotland to Portsmouth for work, and it was the highlight of my stay. The Birria Tacos were incredible—tender, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. For dessert, the Biscoff Donuts were a delightful indulgence. What truly stood out was the friendly staff, who made each visit a welcoming experience. If you’re in Portsmouth, this spot is a must-visit for delicious food and great service!

I recently ordered from Fuegos and was blown away by the delicious food they offer. The tacos were flavorful, the mash was perfectly creamy, and the mac and cheese was simply divine. Drove almost an hour to get here as it’s difficult finding halal food spots, and wow it did not disappoint! We got the taquitos, chicken wings, pulled beef birria tacos, dirty fries and mango mule mocktails - safe to say 10/10. Really cute decor, relaxed vibe, good service and super reasonable prices. Seriously hit the spot! Craving more already, will be sure to come back when in the area.

The staff were generally very helpful but were not overwhelmingly polite. The chicken wings were good (although pink). The main letdown on the score was the tacos which were heavy, drenched in sauce and had very little flavour and left us all feeling very bloated and unwell after.

Absolutely delicious food and really great value for money. This is the second time coming back and keeps getting better. Will definitely be coming back again!!!!
