Fuego Lounge in Lewes

Very good food and excellent gluten free selection. Only trouble was the staff's insistence on calling us all 'loveley', 'dear' 'my love' and other ghastly terms of affection which apart from being very patronising, felt very odd and forced coming from people in their 20s (many decades younger than us). I commented on this when i orderd our food and we were then treated to a deluge of such language by the waiting staff. Why do people have to be so patronising and unpleasant? A definite reason not to go there too often.

Fab breakfast, really lovely staff. Ordering was simple, friendly and polite staff. Breakfast was amazing- I wouldn’t change anything on it.

A friend and I went here for brunch. What a fantastic experience - very friendly and helpful staff, delicious food and drinks, lovely decor and atmosphere, and good prices too. This is a great place to relax and enjoy anything from a coffee to a full meal with friends or family. It’s big and airy, and decorated in a lovely way which made us feel comfortable and welcome. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and the food was exceptional. Plenty of seating, both indoors and outside. I can’t rate this place highly enough.

As the title of my review says - appalling service, appalling food. The place was heaving when we turned up, I just don’t get the hype. We were told on the phone the day prior that they don’t take reservations, but when we turned up there were tables reserved for other people and no one sat at them. Seems strange. We eventually found a table where the occupants were leaving so sat down. We had to ask THREE times for the table to be cleared, and even then it was only cleared in drinks and drabs. No one ever wiped it. It was sticky and disgusting. Not one member of staff cracked a smile and the service was so poor. The food… don’t even get me started. The CHEAPEST sausages and ingredients. Ewww. I will never ever return. What a shocking place.

I went there for a quick bite with the fam. I ended up having a yuzu and strawberry lemonade and a Sausage sandwich. Service was speedy and well presented. The sausage skin was a bit stiff. Drink was lovely but… The decoration and lights were quite tatty and mucky.

Heard loads of good reports about Fuego so a friend and I met up there for a bite to eat. As soon as we walked in, a scruffy bloke rushed over and said, “have you got any allergies”? Not, good evening or welcome, so I half jokingly said, ‘loud music’ in response to the blaring speakers. He didn’t look impressed and just stared at me. The place for the most part was empty. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay and the Halloumi burger. The table we picked was laid up but not clean and was very sticky. After we sat down, I tasted the wine which was warm. Took it back to the bar, and the server muttered something about the glass just being washed so was hot, despite the fact the stem wasn’t. Anyway, he agreed to change it for me. My friend had a ginger beer, which was also warm, so he offered ice which she didn’t want as it would have made the drink watery. Despite there being very few customers, our food arrived at different times. The halloumi was disgusting. Just like rubber and the tiny pile of coleslaw was congealed and looked as though it had been scraped from someone else’s plate. Tomato on burger was a mouldy looking slab from the end where the Stalk goes. This place has so much potential, but needs to get the staff and premises cleaned up. Better staff training, better food and less of the booming music, because people actually want to talk to each other. Awful experience. Couldn’t wait to get out.

Went here with my 11 year old daughter after school for an afternoon meal. Service was fast. Meal was cheap and tasty. All in all a good experience. Would return.

Do not rate this food at all. Went in for lunch today, ordered a tapas (beef quesadillas, honey & sriracha chicken wings, patatas bravas), cheesy garlic bread, and small Mac & Cheese. I'm aware tapas is finger food, but to suggest on the menu that this is for sharing between 2 people when it's barely a meal for 1 is a joke. The quesadillas (2) were tiny, with a "beef" filling and a Ragu type dip. Barely a mouthful each, and barely any meat inside. The chicken wings (3) were clearly just heated up and some sauce thrown on them - barely luke warm, and no real flavour. The patatas bravas were ok, you can't really screw up potato cubes, but needed some seasoning. The cheesy garlic bread (4 slices) barely tasted of cheese or garlic. And finally the mac and cheese was mediocre reheated grainy mush at best. If you're looking for a taste of Mexico at all, avoid at all costs, I promise you, you'll be so disappointed and let down. If you just want quick and easy cheap food, go to Wetherspoons and save yourself about 40% of your hard earned money.

A large room with very few customers but they could serve even warm food. The best we were served was tepid and for our mains they tried twice but the best they could manage was warmed up topping on flatbread that could have been cardboard. A total ripoff. The kitchen needs to try and actually deliver food fit to eat. The server we had was the only good thing about this awful eatery.

Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere but portion control is off . Chicken curry contained at best a nugget size piece of shredded chickens and 5 thin stems of broccoli for £6:50 is ridiculous !

Just the right level of buzz on a saturday night, not too noisy but had a good vibe. Good choice of food from tapas to burgers. Food was served quickly and so were the drinks. I had bang bang chicken which was a healthy tasting, good portioned noodle style dish. Have been a few times and would recommend to all. Dog friendly too.

The venue itself is nice, the menu looked good. I ordered the Goan Lamb Curry, which came with rice, and a side order of fries. The food was nicely presented but the portion size was very small. The curry was rather bland. By comparison the portion of fries was half the size of a MacDonalds regular fies. Very disappointing really, and I left still feeling hungry. I wouldn't go back.

Popped into Fuego for a quick bite to eat and it was suggested by my wife as I hadn’t eaten here before. The first thing that caught my eyes was the lovely surroundings and settings. Warm welcome and place was very busy which is always a good sign. Upon reading the menu I was pleasantly surprised by the array of choices of food. From a full breakfast to tapas. Price is very reasonable too. I have the full breakfast and the strawberry milkshake. The breakfast was amazing, clearly they use top quality products and the milkshake was amazing . All in all it was a very nice and pleasant treat and will definitely be going there again

We regularly visit another Lounge restaurant closer to home, but decided to visit here on a visit to Lewes. Staff were pleasant and the new menu had a good choice to suit all tastes. The food we had was nicely presented and tasted good. The new chicken burger was really good. The desserts are good too. Would recommend this restaurant for families especially.

Unsure why there’s bad reviews about this place. We stopped for lunch yesterday, food was really nice, not too expensive, and all the waiting staff were attentive and friendly. What’s not to like?!

The service was slow. When food did arrive the order wrong. Halloumi fries (3 for £6!) were cold and burger looked like it was leather with a teaspoon of coleslaw on the side. The sausage breakfast muffin was not nice. Portions are smaller and more expensive than our last visit. Won’t be rushing back.

Love coming here to brunch every time we’re in Lewis for our friends and family catch ups the place has really changed its dynamic since we last visited about eight months ago…it was good before but now it’s superb would highly recommend a visit :) see you again at Christmas time.

I understand Sundays are busy. When we got here, they were only had a few tables left. We waited to be seated. Some scruffy guy came and pointed to a table. Walked off. Didn’t say anything. Couldn’t work out who worked here. Had to find the kids menu and get the crayons myself. The online order wasn’t explained. And didn’t work well. Finally got some drinks. Dirty tea cup, asked for a clean one waited 20 minutes (our food came was delicious but small) ate my food. Still no clean cup. Cold tea. Went and asked what’s going on. Was give a cup and said a new tea would be brought over. Never happened. I do not Understand how self-service restaurant you can ask for tip. I can see about 6/8 people I believe who work here. Awful service, wouldn’t be going back. And will email head office as clearly they need to retrained.

We arrived, having booked our table, sat browsing the menu awaiting the arrival of our last guest. After we had been there 5 minutes the power was lost. We approached a member of staff at the bar and asked if we were able to grab the drinks we had ordered and were told that was not possible due to no tills. I accepted this and asked if we could have a jug of water for the table until we knew if the power would be back on and was met with a response that the customer needs were not a priority at present as they all had to work on getting the power back on. Sorry but the number of staff there was plenty to deal with the situation and cater to simple requests from a customer. We swiftly left the establishment and went elsewhere. I understand the powercut was not their fault but the handling of the situation was appalling.

What a little gem, great food the only downside is it is a little noisy. I had heard good things but did not expect such great food and not too expensive

The place was not very organised and did not have any good stuff on the menu. They only had 1 pasta (spaghetti carbonara) and that was all run out. They also has small straws that would sink in to my drink. They staff were alright. Overall this place wasn’t the best because al the stuff on the menu run out and they are better restaurants in Lewis.

Have been here a few times for drinks and tapas before and after the cinema. Popped in Saturday night after the cinema, we both thought how quiet it was normally got a nice buzz to the place, but dead a few tables but not like a Saturday night. Ordered I pint Moretti beer and a cocktail, partner said beer tasted weird and my cocktail tasted like a pre mix very syrupy and not nice it’s my fav so I know how it should taste. Ordered tapas for me which consisted of a very small dollop of hummus with 3 triangles of dried pitta bread, 3 very small arancini balls and 4 very small hard and dry chicken wings smallest wings I’ve ever seen. All for nearly £13!!! Rip off. My partner had a Korean chicken burger again very dry and for the price wasn’t nice at all he left the bun as it wasn’t toasted just dry with the smallest amount off mayo, why this was called a Korean we’re not sure 🤔 Apart from the above comments it was the dirty feel about the place the staff didn’t look clean and had that real bored look about them, sorry to be personal but the whole place needs closing down for a few weeks for a deep clean and get some new staff. Won’t be returning.

After a lovely 5 mile walk decided to visit a firm favourite for a late lunch. OMG, really wish we hadn’t bothered. Change of staff and the new are useless. The server admitted he ordered my meal wrong. No apology just a 20 minute wait. In this time my husband had almost finished his meal. When I complained, I was told by said server that he cannot be criticised and won’t have it. He had previously admitted it was his fault as he was on his phone. Manager arrives. Still no apology but the offer of another glass of wine. If we wanted more we would have ordered a bottle. Very disappointed, they are not cheap but very adverse to any critical words. Totally really bad service. Do better.

A year later... the same issues are still present. What has improved since my last review? The sausage quality is much better... and that's about it. More of the same... eggs were overcooked again, the service was excruciatingly slow again, and they persist with a clunky QR code ordering system that even asks you tip before you've received any form of service. Even worse than last time, serving drinks in chipped crockery and the dogs. I am a fan of dogs, but I don't wish them to be sniffing round my table whilst eating breakfast or barking for the duration of my visit, sure this is more on the owner than Fuego, but perhaps reconsider where dogs are allowed in what is a restaurant.

Went for a small bite to eat and a couple of drinks with friends. The service we received was outstanding. A man whose name we later discovered was Alex served us and was dripping with charm. Promote this man ! He was attentive and went above and beyond what was asked of him. His charisma and cheeky smile perfectly complemented my halloumi. A really poor show from Feugo Lounge. We were shown to our table which was sticky. My granddaughter was given a high chair which was also dirty. I used four baby wipes to clean it off. We sat for 20 minutes waiting to be served and then had to ask if we could order and waited a further 10 minutes. Straight after we ordered we were asked to pay the bill before the food arrived which I find very odd. We wanted panini's which contained mozzarella but were told there wasn't any mozzarella but could have cheddar. I ordered an orange juice which arrived with a dead fly floating in it, which was changed without fuss. The panini's arrived (1 cheese and tomato and 1 chicken, cheese and tomato) but the chicken one arrived without chicken! We were offered for it to be taken back and chicken added but our car park was nearing end and suggested that they refund the difference between the tomato and cheese and chicken and cheese. The waitress then came across and tried to take back the non chicken panini! We were refunded the full price of the non chicken and cheese panini but overall this was a pretty poor experience and I for one will not be returning.

Went here for lunch, and was highly disappointed. Waited like 30 min for the food and drinks to even come and when it arrived the buttermilk fried chicken looked like a kids meal. It was a very sad looking piece of chicken, absolutely soaked in breadcrumbs. The Mexican Super Bowl was below average, the beans tasted like it was out of a can and it was overall quite flavourless. Only really nice thing was the drinks but, if I pay over £3 for a milkshake I expect to get more than a tiny cup.

We sat down at 1.45 and finally received our food almost an hour later. We watched as people who arrived far later than us, were served before us. When we asked about the long wait we were told, “Sorry, there’s nothing I can do.” Also, when it did arrive my toasted roll was not toasted. It was stale, no butter even, but I was so hungry I just ate it. My husband ordered gluten free, but twenty minutes after we finished was hit by symptoms. Something was not gluten free! When the waitress spilt our drink and we asked for a serviette to mop it up, she looked as us like we were mad. We didn’t receive another serviette. We won’t visit again.

Had a great evening. Myself and my girlfriend braved it out for the first time in months. Was served by a very friendly and accommodating member of staff who looked after us and made sure that we enjoyed the experience. Would definitely recommend an evening at Fuego. Food was superb and Jennifer really made sure that we were looked after all evening. The service was impeccable and it allayed all our fears of going out in these COVID times.... Great night look forward to sitting inside

My girlfriend and I had two lattes, which were nice and hot(nothing worse than a cold coffee!!)Yummy food too - recommend everything especially avocado brunch.Service was good and both girls were helpful and smiley. I haven’t had the joy of going to this restaurant as of yet, but the food looks amazing and I will definitely be trying it out. Especially as they allow dogs inside :) I have also recently applied for a job here so let’s hope that I manage to get it :)

Lovely lunch here today. Made better by the great staff. The staff were amazing trying to keep everyone dry in torrential rain by giving them umbrellas to hold. They worked so hard trying to serve everyone despite the rain.Large umbrellas and heaters would be a good addition.

Lived in lease quite a while and have never been to Fuego tried it last night for the first time and have to say during this pandemic they are absolutely smashing it, we had the two wings and the halloumi sticks, and they were outstanding!the wings dripping in sauce and tasted amazing and moist. Always think you don’t get a big enough portion when you have tapas but they were amazing.Staff friendly too especially Lauren who greeted us at the door, friendly and happy. We will be back

Another nice lunch at this place. Felt Christmassy and safe. Lots of room between tables and staff nice and friendly. Delicious coffees especially the Bailey's one. Staff asked about allergies and they have vegan options. Chilli dish and tappas boards great.

Today I visited the restaurant Fuego Lounge, my expectations were high however I was sorely let down >:( . I had the sesame seed asian wings, it cost 5.90 with a half pint of coke. I expected a decent size potion however I only received 3 small wings. Not only were the portion sizes small but they didn’t cook the chicken at a low heat, they had clearly cooked at a high heat to get it done quickly however this left the chicken to be dry and with almost no flavour, all of the sauce had drained into the bottom of the plate. Not only the food but the utilities itself was very average-low average and the hand drier was weak at best. 4/10 meal, would not recommend to anybody looking for a high quality for price meal.
