Frothies in Scarborough

We were a bit late for our morning coffee break and did think of walking back to the cafes in the main streets but noticed this one and popped in. Service was friendly and the cake accompanying the coffee was good.

Cafe with typical cafe food. Wanted full english but it's mostly sandwiches at breakfast but they open before 10 on a Sunday whereas most open at 10. Sausage sandwiches and beans on toast all round. Nice touch with the doorstep bread. Service was slow though. Poor woman behind the counter trying to serve 30+ drinks was a task and a half. In fact we didn't get our drinks until after the food had been served. Would go back though, nice homely food

The choice is great, the quality of the food is excellent, the hot chocolate is really good and the service is quick, friendly and helpful. All at a very affordable price in clean, tasteful surroundings. Has to be one of the best cafés in Filey.

Regular in here and it’s the best coffee for miles around , food excellent too, great service and excellent cakes , especially the blondy

A chance find of this cafe, I had a strong flat white beautifully served and an orange and chocolate brownie which was just delicious. A great stop on the way back to the train station. Good, friendly service too!

Sometimes bring my kids here or go with my mum make lovley light meals and their hot drinks are the best! Also staff are polite!

Great for quick bite to eat, average cafe quality food but good value for money. Staff were friendly except one lady who was on the tills (short Brown hair). She was less than friendly. I asked for cheese on a jacket potato and it was like I had asked her to run a marathon. She had an attitude with most customers. Shame really as otherwise it was a nice little place.

Excellent food, friendly service, very welcoming and great value. Been here many times and never been anything but perfect. Can't fault it.

If we lived local we would be in here every day! Wonderful discovery for breakfast. We had the doorstep sandwiches (wow, very tasty), plus the green revival smoothie (very yum), tea & coffee. Extremely good value & the waitress was lovely & friendly. Everything felt super clean too. Top notch

Continental breakfast was fine. Eggs on toast was good. Mocha was not so good. The reason I will never return is when the till lady harshly barked at my young kids. Not so family friendly. Customer service counts.

Frothies in Filey is a nice, traditional cafe. It is clean and tidy with a modern, minimalist decor. From the decent menu we opted for “Filey doorstep” bacon sandwiches which were generously filled by tasty, thick-cut bacon. Washed down by a decent pot of tea we thoroughly enjoyed our lunchService was very good apart from one small point - whereas the lady who took our order was wearing a face mask, the one who brought our food to the table (and to several others) wasn’t wearing a mask at all. I can only assume (and hope) that this was a momentary lapse.Prices here are most reasonable and we would certainly use this very good cafe again.

A very special lunch. We had 3 lovely filled jacket pots and a panini with delicious fries, plus several coffees (and one cake!). The portions were generous, but the staff were all friendly, efficient and made it a great visit. Plus the barista is knowlegeable, friendly, generous and ensured we would definitely visit again - great coffeefriendly website. Thank you frothies !

Lovely coffee. Run by coffee enthusiast who grinds fresh beans. Good range of packets of coffee beans and ground coffee to buy as well as drink in. We had a well presented panini with salad on chairs in front of the cafe

Called here on a cold Thursday afternoon to find it busy, an obvious favourite with locals and visitors alike. Initially we only called for a cup of tea but the food looked good so we both had a Crispy Chicken Wrap. This came with fries and a fresh side salad. It was freshly prepared, of generous portion and was just what was needed on a cold January day. Servucecwas efficient and friendly? We will definitely call again.

Visited this afternoon. Sunday 19 Jan 2020. Lovely hot paninis and beautiful coffee served with a smile. They also sell coffee to you and grind it on the spot if you want to re-create the experience in your own home. Not expensive either. We’ll be back for more.

Food was of an excellent quality and good value for money, along with the service being of an equally excellent standard, nothing is too much trouble from any of the staff. If you are in Filey, Frothies is one of those 'little hidden gems' and also family friendly makeing it well woth a visit.

This was our first visit but we liked it so much we returned the next day ! Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, exceptional service and good value. Very highly recommended.

Love the coffee and choice of cakes. Been twice whilst on holiday, plenty of space inside, menu small but very good value fo money. Service was very quick and brought to our table with a smile.

We called in here for breakfast, but unfortunately what seemed like the whole crew of the Filey lifeboat and their volunteers and support had got there ahead of us. The 2 girls running the place were run off their feet, but we were happy to wait and I am very glad we did. The cooked breakfast was well prepared and hot, and the fried egg was perfectly done. Put this on your places to visit!

We didn't plan to stop at Frothies, but had a look in and decided to try it out. It was very accommodating, staff were very friendly. The food was well presented and good value for money. I would recommend if anyone is going to Filey to give Frothies a try. Good value for money!!

If you are looking for a greasy spoon cafe you have come to the wrong place. The service is first class and so is the food. The staff and owners know how to smile and talk to the customer like they are old friends.

My husband and i were just strolling past the cafe and noticed a board outside advertising a bacon or sausage bap and a coffee or tea for £2.95,so we had to stop of course!,i ordered 2 coffees and a sausage bap and a bacon bap,the young lady brought me a tea by mistake but was very apologetic,i said it didn't matter as i was quiet happy with the tea,but a few minutes later she brought me a coffee as well,excellent service and very tasty sandwiches,we left feeling well fed and extremely happy with the service,a lovely breakfast that only cost £5.90 for the 2 of us,we will certainly pop in again when we are passing.

Busy Bank Holiday and Filey Folk Festival in my favourite seaside resort. Me with the wife and kids in tow, were late and popped in to Frothies for breakfast (very well priced by the way). in the hope they were still serving, as they cut off at Midday to start lunch.

Me and my family popped into frothies for the first time and wow what a great place!

Terrible service. Food average at best, no meat substitute on vegetarian breakfast. Rude staff member admitted to never taking table numbers. Perhaps they should start as we received the next tables order, one meal was taken away & the other left behind. After around 10 mins a waitress arrived to take it away again then another bumbling staff member came over to explain the mix up - my party & the rest of the cafe were already well aware of what had happened. Use your table numbers, they're there for a reason! Basil Faulty comes to mind. Avoid, avoid, avoid :(

The coffee was very good. We had a medium strength and a strong americano which were both great. The food was ok but the cooked breakfast came with tinned sloppy tomatoes rather than proper cooked tomatoes.

Called in for a coffee with family before we all made our way home. Spacious inside with good seating. You take your order to the counter at the back of the shop and your food and drink is brought to your table. We didn’t eat but saw some breakfasts come out which looked hearty enough. Cakes and the usual suspects available. Relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff. Minimal seating outside in a sunny spot.

Not been for a while , but the food , coffee and service was fab !! Nice friendly welcome , barrista style coffee and bacon sandwhich for 2= less than £7!!! Lots of choice everything cooked to order . Best coffee in Filey blended in house !!!

Situated in the town this is a Great Little Cafe, Staff were Quick with the service and very polite.

A quick lunch with my father, good service pleasant staff. Young staff dealt well with a busy cafe. Food was filling and hot.

Very good barista coffee and a choice of 3 handsome gluten free cakes. They’re not labelled gluten free - well worthy of tickling anyone’s taste buds (not just coeliacs).

Lack of care in presentation of the food, it's not how it used to be. Staff don't look as if they were enjoying their job. Personally I wouldn't recommend here, if you want a nice cosy rustic coffee shop, the Coffee Shed is the place to be.

We popped in here on our recent visit to Filey and found Frothies to be a really welcoming cafe with a great choice of food and drinks. They have a really excellent breakfast menu served until 12 but we arrived after this time and chose some paninis and chips for lunch which was really tasty and very reasonably priced. The coffee we had was very tasty too. When we are next back in Filey we will definitely recommend this lovely place.

Called for coffee and cake after a 6 mile circular walk through Filey and along the Cleveland Way. Friendly waitress who even asked how strong we would like our americano coffee. Lovely cakes, moist and flavoursome, good Yorkshire sized portions, and what's more priced at £3.85f or coffee and cake, change out of £15 for the four of us.

After walking from Caton Bay to Filey we dropped into Frothies for a bite to eat. The menu in varied and simple. The choices mou h watering. Keep up the good work will be coming again.

Wow, what more can you ask for in a coffee shop/café. Lovely warm friendly staff, we had rather a large order and were surprised at how little time it took to come out. Excellent quality food, extremely good selection of coffee's and other hot drinks. And the cake selection was really good too. There was a rather rude man complaining about nothing in front of where we sat, how dare he slag off such a lovely place, professionally set out and run by an obviously dedicated team

Had a lovely breakfast ..ordered the small breakfast sausage bacon mushrooms fried egg beans tomatoes and toast ..was very tasty best breakfast I've had when visiting Filey...had a lovely cappuccino as well ...my husband had the larger breakfast my son had bacon sarnie all very yummy and service was fast too lovely atmosphere friedly staff members

I came here with my partner and his parents. We all got a large breakfast with a tea and wow it was amazing! The price was good and well worth the money. The cafe is extremely clean. The staff are lovely and make conversation with you. Hopefully be returning again shortly to try out all the other foods!

We asked a local where we could get breakfast and were told to go to Frothies, ordered a full breakfast which included toast and mushrooms, we had tea which was an extra but not by much , there was enough to satisfy our appetite and more, very tasty served with a smile in comfortable surroundings, would highly recommend, if you have a small appetite I`d recommend you ask for a childrens portion

Just moved to Filey & tried Frothies enjoyed the food we had soup & a sandwich very nice would recommend had the doorstep sandwiches last time we went in very nice & very filling . We kept our coats on as it wasn't very warm in there that is the only negative but will be going again

Appeared very clean with plenty of room. We both had a full English breakfast, quality of food & price was typical. The coffee was very very nice, my only negatives was the chairs were very hard to sit on, a small seat cushion would make a big difference & it was quite cold, we had to keep our coats on.

Called in for coffee. Excellent brew if yo7 like flavoursome full bodied coffee. We both had capucinnos and they were the best we had all holiday. Lots of folks were eating breakfasts and they looked good too.

Went for breakfast at Frothy's. The coffee here is fantastic and you can tell is a speciality. We had Americanos and the flavour of the beans were great.

Only ever had breakfast here and even the standard one is large. Great coffee too. Only reason I've not given 5 stars is the fact you can't take dogs inside. I won't eat at the side of the road because I have a dog so sadly since getting our dog I haven't been back in. Such a shame as it's a great breakfast.

Having organised our breakfast here before we travelled to Filey our party of eleven were well impressed with all aspects of our visit. Good food, great staff and a crackin cup o tea!!

Called in Frothies on Tuesday, 27th June for a drinks a biscuit. Tea, very thirst quenching, my partner had a welcome cup of coffee at the snip of the price of Costa or Starbucks. Highly recommended. Staff were very helpful & polite, a welcome break

We called here for a coffee on a wet Tuesday after realising there were no Costa's or Starbucks locally and found the excellent coffee better than the both of them, also the cakes were delicious of good size and very reasonably priced, highly recommended!!

A nice little quiet and relaxing coffee shop, with great coffee and very reasonably priced food. The staff were very friendly, and the toilet facilities clean. Great for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the town!

We visited Frothies on a sunny April day and really enjoyed our drinks and cake. It's deceptively larger than you think with extra seating at the rear. Plenty of space for a pushchair or two and highchairs available for little ones. Staff were very friendly and service was really good. Excellent coffee and hot drinks and the cakes were delicious. Very good value too - especially when compared to some of the bigger chains.Would highly recommend and would visit again next time we're in Filey.

Just happened in here because the chip shop next door was shut and im so pleased i did. I love coffee and have my own barista machine at home and i can honestly say this is the best coffee ive had

Met up with my daughter and family on Mother's Day. Managed to get a table and everyone enjoyed their food and delicious coffee. Best in Filey!

We have visited frothiesa few times. Staff are helpful and pleasant and make you very welcome. Food is freshly prepared and tastes good. They accommodate small children and respond well to any specific requests. The breakfasts are especially tasty . They both look good and taste good. I would highly recommend the cafe to anyone.

After a windy walk on the beach, bought takeaway coffees here - the beans were freashly ground and the coffees ( latte) were excellent- the staff were happy to switch to my preference of semi skimmed milk. Can't say how much I really enjoyed the coffee here

Me and my partner went here for lunch we had paninis with chips and a tea and a coffee. The food was lovely good size portion. My partner had a latte he said it was the best in Filey. We will be going here again

Stopped here for a light snack and a hot drink while visiting Filey. First impressions weren't great to be honest, we didn't get a very warm welcome from the waitress and as we were the only ones eating, she wasn't apparently very bothered. However she warmed up once we got chatting. We ordered hot drinks which were lovely a v nice hot chocolate and a couple of hot sandwiches. Freshly prepared by a friendly chef.

Visited over the Xmas holidays with family in tow. Was very busy as other places were shut, but staff managed to find us a table for 7. We ordered salads and paninis and these were delicious and very well-presented. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the decor is fabulous. Many different choices of coffees & other drinks make it more special too. Couldn't be better!

Situated 2 minutes walk from the bus station 2 coffees capachino mocha with chocolate syrup 2 cakes one carrot one chocolate fudge accompanied with cream and 2 scoops of ice cream all for£ 7 90 what a bargain this coffee shop is a must if you visit filey

Popped into Frothies for a quick cuppa and ended up having afternoon tea. A lovely egg and cress sandwich, a warm scone with clotted cream and jam, and a big pot of tea for £4.95!! What a bargain. All freshly prepared by the friendly staff. Give it a try.

Asked for Americanos with hot milk and got just that! Very good flavour and stays hot longer with hot milk. Brown sugar would be nice too.We visit here regularly. Frothies is a reliable place to eat and drink in Filey.

I am a fussy coffee lover with an intense dislike of the clagg served up by Starbucks. This is a small independant coffee house and the cappucino I ordered was spot on. No claggy after taste and a "proper" cup of coffee.This place is slighly off the beaten track but well worth seeking out - prices are good for coffee and the foods/cakes on offer.

Opted for the large breakfast and it really is!Great value, well cooked and presented, the only negative I have is the sausages.They are bland and cheap, such a shame as everything else was spot on.Lovely coffee, quick polite service.Frothies do not accept card payment, but there is a cash point close by.

Arrived in Filey on a day trip & called in the morning for a bacon butty & a coffee. The coffee was excellent , not too milky & not over strong. Bacon butty was nice & good value. Other food on menu also seemed good value. Service was also very good & the café had a light & airy feel to it.

A lovely little spot in the heart of Filey, no sea view I'm afraid but great surroundings. Cafe is very lean, beautiful decor and extremely welcoming staff.The menu is brilliant and a reasonable price. The food is well cooked and portions are huge, well worth a visit.

Had a good full English brekky here. Sausages weren't the best but perfectly adequate! Coffee was hot a tasted good.
