This is no longer a golf club. The course is now signed over to the Woodland Trust and being planted with trees. The clubhouse is now a child's playgroup.

Played here today having not played it for 5 years, back then it was a gorgeous course, challenging. Now it's a shadow of that, I read a review where it says it's clear the owners are investing..... nonsense!!! This course could be lovely if only the owners actually spent some money... No club house No toilet facilities No sand in bunkers No watering system No yardage markers Greens consistent only in the inconsistency, some the grass is like fairways and some have no grass at all... The first green was a total mess but the rest where slightly better. No groundsmen , never saw 1 in the whole round There's a reason it gets cheaper by the week to play here, don't be fooled by the adverts, it doesn't look anything like it used to Be shocked if this course is still with us in a year or 2 unless they actually spend some money What a shame that would be as its got everything to be a lovely challenging course, natural contours, lovely lay out, greens are small and sloping.... To the owners, spend some money!!!!

First time playing this course and it’s in HORRENDOUS condition. The greens haven’t been mowed in ages, they were just like a fairway - putting was essentially impossible - the ball was bouncing all over the place on every putt. The bunkers were rock hard and full of weeds, the paths were rocks and broken in a lot of places - it’s completely run down. No one should be playing this course - it feels abandoned. No clubhouse, no toilets, no one monitoring anything. An absolute joke. Not worth it under any circumstances. STAY AWAY.

I must say some off the reviews are a little bit harsh as this golf course is a work in progress. we played here on Sunday 9th as a 4 ball. check in was at a little hut which was fine and the guy was very helpful. first thoughts of the course was we could see there was a lot of work being done to make improvements. Good Points: Easy Check-in Fairways in good condition. Views from 7th hole stunning. great price. Improvement Points (Not Bad ones). Greens still need some work to get right. Not enough sand in bunkers. No 150/100 yardage markers. Club house not ready yet. Overview: we had a good day and the course was very busy. i would play this course agian no problem. also if the people get this course up-to a good standard then you will be looking at a £30.00 a round price.. good luck Frodsham golf...

I played here with friends 7-8 years ago and it was a beautiful course back then. Returned this week for a fourball and was shocked at the deterioration. I had heard that the course was in poor condition but chanced it anyway as it's cheap and had plenty of availability. As other reviews note, there is no clubhouse. What used to be the clubhouse has been sold off and is now a private home. There is no pro shop or cafe/bar - only a portacabin next to the car park selling bottles of water (cash only). The chap there was very friendly and welcoming but other than that, there is nothing impressive about the place at all. There are not even any toilets! The course itself is in very poor condition. Mounds of weed-covered earth everywhere, abandoned tee boxes, no signage or course markers, some of the worst bunkers I've seen, ruined paths and awful greens. I can see from earlier reviews that this course appears to have been declining for some time (aside from a few outlier 5-star reviews from early 2020 - hmmm). A common theme seems to be that guests have been told over the last few years that the owner is doing a lot of work to the course, hence it being in poor condition. It is clear that no work is being done to improve it and none has been done for some time. I suspect the bare minimum is being done to keep it in playable condition before it is eventually sold off, like the clubhouse has been. Hope I'm wrong and that they can turn it around but it needs a lot of money spending on it. The information on the website about facilities (including the pictures of what used to be the clubhouse) is way out of date and very misleading. The course does not look at all like a members club and my local municipals are in far better nick. It is just about playable and at £17.50 pp is relatively cheap.

Just played here today. The greens are an absolute joke. Club house and pro shop closed. Cabin near car park selling coffee not the best of starts. They are doing lots of work on the course but they really haven't thought this though. No putting green. Not practice nets. No drinks before or after. A number of holes are of very forward tees in fact the 1st has tee blocks on the fairway. Don't play here until all work done and the paths repaired. Probably will need 2 years at least

So after reading all the reviews on here and other platforms I was really wary about booking a round at Frodsham, but with a chance to play last Friday and tee times available I jumped on. I'm not an experienced golfer and just really enjoy getting out. So I tried to book an early tee time of 9.26am but for some reason the site glitched and I lost the spot. I managed to get 10.26am instead. Hoping to get an earlier spot I arrived at Frodsham at 9.15am and parked up. Initial impressions were of a nice drive in with good parking, though it was clear from the start there was a lot of work going on, there were workers milling about and the areas off the fairways were cut up by dumper trucks etc. There is no club house at the minute so signing in takes place at a small hut just off the car park, not a major issue at all I felt. I went up and explained to the chap behind the counter that I'd wanted an earlier time but had to get a later one due to the site crashing. He quickly took a look at his bookings and told me I could jump on there and then if I wanted, in fact another member had just signed in and he was sure he'd appreciate the company. I declined the offer of a partner, purely due to my standard and not wanting to hold a more experienced golfer up! I quickly grabbed my gear and headed back to the hut to see about a trolley. £4 got me my handle and I was ready to go. A quick word from the starter who explained there was a lot of work going on so Tee 1 was not in its usual spot but 40 or so yards further up the fairway. He then gave me directions to get there. I headed off and found Tee 1. There was a 2 ball ahead and a 4 ball in front of that, but both swiftly let me play through with no issues at all. Hole 1 is a nice gentle handshake of a hole, Par 4 with a wide welcoming fairway. I managed a decent drive and my round was underway. Now a lot of talk on here is of the greens and approaching the first I saw 2 issues. 1, the green side bunkers were quite low of sand and a bit overgrown. Not a massive deal, I managed to get in there on shot 3 to explore and found it solid but playable. The green itself was rough and uneven, even the best putter will find it tough to get a good read and roll so I decided I was going to give myself generous gimmes through the round to counter this! This theme continued around the course, some greens are playable, others just are not, but again, I knew this from the start and it really didn't dent my enjoyment of the day. There are some absolutely wonderful holes on this course and the scenery is awesome, I stopped a few times to take a picture and just take a minute. An issue I found was signage. There is often a short walk between holes and a few are not signposted at all, luckily I use a GPS app and it directed me to where I was going, but better signage would help a lot. Standout holes for me were the 2 long Par 5's, 18 especially is great, the Par 3's and a wonderful Par 4 16th where you tee off and just hammer your drive towards a crop of trees over a gorge in the distance. The dog leg left is spectacular. I managed to get around in just over 2 hours and headed back to the hut to drop off my trolley. It was there I managed to get a decent chat with Paul, the owner of the course. He asked how I found the day and me being me I didn't hold back on my thoughts. To his utmost credit Paul then spent a good 35 minutes going through his plans and a timetable of works to get the course up to a fantastic standard. That starts with the greens, work commences this Tuesday (8th September). there is also a plan for the bunkers (an expensive plan by the sounds of it), as well as a new club house and coffee shop/bar/9th hole type venue. I mentioned signage and he was very responsive and said he would get on with sorting that as soon as possible. I think a little thing like that will begin to help persuade a few more people to give it another go. At the end of the day I paid £17 for 18 holes of very challenging gold and £4 for a trolley. The course was not busy and I didn't feel rushed at any point. Pro's Cheap round of golf Great holes Challenging course Friendly team Great potential in near future with a clear plan Cheap membership to be had Con's Greens in need of repair Bunkers a bit overgrown Lots of work ongoing so the periphery of the course is a bit cut up and messy Tee boxes not in ideal spots whilst being worked on Small pond on 18 that had a magnetic attraction for my American Golf own brand golf balls!! In conclusion I will play Frodsham again, I have no doubt. I really enjoyed the challenge, and having now been there, know what to expect and I can only see it getting better over the winter months ready for a new year. They aren't hiding the issues and are upfront if you ask, I think a lot of the stick they are getting online is really unwarranted, sure it's not a PGA standard course yet but you are paying less than £20! The owner is obviously massively invested in the venue and has a great plan of what he wants to do and I can only wish everyone at the course the best of luck.

I today revisited an old favourite of mine, frodsham is set in rolling hills and is a feast for the eyes with superb views of Cheshire's finest countryside and of Liverpool in the distance.Ok so when you arrive you can immediately see that the course is in the middle of some major reconstruction and the clubhouse is still closed due to the covid outbreakAs a qualified greenkeeper I can see that this beast of a course will take some serious man hours to keep it in good order.I can see that the major issue visitors and members will grumble about will be the quality of the greens, on asking the helpful staff what had happened I was told that no staff or not enough staff were available to work during the onset of covid and that the greens had encountered neglect and hadn't been watered enough, I have encountered this before in my career during heatwaves.I can honestly say with the correct maintenance and care the greens will be brought back to fully covered magnificence it's just going to take time and when they are this course will be on its way back up to its heyday splendor. It is what it is at the moment but the rest of the course is kept in good order For its price it gives good value for money and I look forward to visiting again before the end of the yearStaff are great and helpful I think we all need to support clubs like this especially in these trying times

We had a very odd experience today at Frodsham Golf Club. My 10 year old son and I started playing golf last September as he wanted a set of clubs for his 10th Birthday and since lockdown allowed, we’ve played a fair bit. We aren’t members anywhere but have played a good few courses around Warrington enjoying the freedom of not being members. I booked Frodsham last night on GolfNow and thought ‘that’s cheap’ only to realise 2 holes in why. The car park has no signage in it, I asked a couple where the club house was and all I got was “There isn’t one but there is a portacabin”. The chap in the portacabin was very pleasant and explained how the first few holes work and also that there’s quite a bit of work going on. By the time we got to the first green we were wondering if this club has had any work done in a long time. The first two holes weren’t pleasurable and with a youngster who’s taking no enjoyment from the state of the course, I considered calling it after 3 holes. We stuck with it and whilst the greens fluctuated between worse and the same, the improving middle fairways and pleasant panoramas made it just about worthwhile, albeit feeling a little sorry for the place. The middle 6 or 7 holes were actually quite enjoyable; distance wise, the course presents plenty of birdie opportunities and being relative novices we both enjoyed the relatively wide open and forgiving fairways. Whilst walking between shots I tried to google why what looked like a club house was now a nursery and also tried to find out why the club was in such a state? This is where the sympathy set in. It’s recently had a refinancing/ cash injection, so I’d like to think that things are on the up there. You can see new tee boxes are under construction and a few greens have been moved for work on them. As we got back to the car park it’s obvious that money has been spent on that. The signage is poor between holes. The hole information signs need moving to a place where you can see them as you approach rather than the back tee that is in places 50 yards apart. There’s a lot to do. I’m in no rush to return, but will maybe try again in a couple of years as the course was pretty pleasant. The state of those greens though don’t do anything to help motivate a 10 year old to keep going. It’s certainly not the place for aspiring golfers wanting the full experience. Good luck to them though. It will either be much improved in 2 years time or a housing estate.

The course was a great challenge with fantastic greens and always in my eyes my value for money. The last time I played the course, footballers Michael Owen & Dieter Hammam with two holes ahead of me... good times! However fast forward to 2020, 3 friends joined me yesterday on what a thought was a great deal at £15?Wow, was I wrong! Below is a list for the owners, members & golf professionals at Frodsham.1) The Club house is now a new nursery... shocking decision.2) A bloke checked our tee and sat in a car... poor standards.3) The new paths are simply shocking & really poor standards with home made signs.4) The greens were simply shocking & the club should be ashamed!5) No dress code? Lads walking wound in tracksuits... poor tone!Overall, very poor & needs to return to its former glory... if not just close Frodsham Golf Club!

Visited Frodsham GC again on Thursday, together with another ex scratch player, what a lovely and pleasingly memorable day! The welcome is always friendly and the weather was perfect. It was very nice to see the course continuing to improve - amazing given all the winter traffic without any buggy bans - good to see all the bunkers raked, fairway definition, greens top-dressed (my playing partner still managed 5 birdies, but unfortunately still lost, ha ha), and course ‘protective’ buggy control roped off areas (preparing for the Spring! It is worth noting not once did I need to improve my lie! We finished off with a full English breakfast, eaten in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere, with a view overlooking the River Mersey Estuary, followed by coffee on the veranda, surrounded by colourful shrubs and overlooking the newly leafed and blossoming trees of Spring and mown and manicured course... lovely... can’t wait to get back again in the not too distant future for yet more improvements. Just played golf at Frodshan as the last day of our 3 day trip with the first tow days at Worsley Park. The condition of the course at Frodsham was dreadful, the greens were patchy and uneven, tees and bunkers were unkempt. Probably the worst condition private golf course I have ever played at this time of year.

Played yesterday 31/07/17 with 2 friends the deal was good which I can't fault golf buggy and a banquette for £52 for 3 of us is a bargain but if you want to keep people coming back maybe don't be so cheap and make sure the course is in great condition the fairways were ok but he greens we're the worst greens I've ever played on for a private course they were an utter disgrace sorry to write this as not one to complain for nothing but how you can expect people to putt on them is beyond me

Having booked months in advance initially for 42 golfers but finally 39 players, we arrived on the day expecting to have the 6 buggies we had pre ordered, only to be told we could only have 3. You can imagine the problem's that held. The whole idea of the buggies was to assist our older members to play the course, after a lot of cajoling from myself magically 2 more buggies turned up. Unfortunately 2 of our older members had to ask for their monies to be refunded and they returned home, total waste of the day. The attitude of the Professional in the shop who eventually came to deal with the problem was, that is it take it or leave it. Not very"Professional". To make matters worse the meal we had ordered was to come with a vegetable medley, this consisted of "green beans". If this is the service on offer every time,God help us all.As you can imagine I will"NOT"be recommending this venue any time soon. David Salisbury, Stamford Golf Club, Seniors Captain.

We played today as a society and the consensus was that it was the poorest the course has ever been. The greens were patchy and looked damaged and bare in parts. Bunkers were not raked and parts of the fairways looked damaged by chemicals/burnt.Bins all around the course were overflowing with litter....it was disappointing to say the least.I have played over a dozen times here and it has never been like this before...hopefully it's a 1 off as it's been a great place 2 play in the past.

We will not be playing this course again. They just want to get as many golfers on the course as possible. We had a tee off slot at 10-24am but did not tee off till 11-00am.We were waiting on each tee for about 10 minutes because of other society's on the course. In total it took us just short of 6 hours to complete 18 holes.

Booked 18 holes with breakfast - pro shop good - breakfast in spike bar the bar man seemed to have an attitude against anyone without a scouse accent - it's was extracting teeth to get our breakfast and coffee - onto the course - the most of it was frozen this morning but that didnt stop group after group going out - ie very busy course with most on buggies - the greens were all frozen so putting was a joke - the course was unexciting until the last 3 holes which were a challenge - overall - don't bother there are better out there

£25 per head for round of golf with buggy and fish & chip supper.Course in good condition however, the push on special deals meant the course was very busy. We followed a 32 man society on to the course and the round took 4hrs 45 minutes. Only 6000 yards and fairly flat, the course is well laid out with great views over the River Mersey from a number of holes. Before you play or take advantage of the offers, make sure you don't find yourself behind a big society. Good mid week venue once holiday season over!

The 'place' is so friendly, which fits in with their motto "Always welcome, always open" - thanks go to all the staff!

If the plan is to get visitors to return it won't work with us! Food was nice but there were only nine teams playing. It is not hard to see why!

Just had a four ball at above. We last played here a year ago and even taking into account the recent winter, we all felt the course had worsened. Some of the greens were "spongy and wet", very uneven making your ball "bobble" when putting. We have all played many other courses over the past 4 months and all were better . The green keepers at this club have a great deal to do over the coming months to restore the course to its previous standards.Frustrated golfer who paid £80 for four ball.

I did tell a member of staff who passed it onto the chef who went over to a totally different table and offered complimentary puddings which was declined. We ordered tea this was the best yet tea served in big white mugs complete with stains. Do not go expecting a lovely dining experience our party of four will not be going back.

The food was good a three course meal would say the chicken was not a supreme just an average roast but still good. The bacon butties was a good idea at eleven o clock. The bar was free all night and they they did work very hard. The coach for dropping us off could of been better organised nice and easy people who live in Helsby and surrounding area one coach people who live in Frodsham another coach and people who live in runcorn another coach as their were three coaches this could of been easily organised and the guy who gave the instructions to the coach driver got off had to fend for ourselves all in all it was a great time

Staff where helpful & attentive. No queue at any point at the at,considering it was a free bar. Inclusive if bottles of wine & beer/cider on draft. We had pre-booked our food & it was delicious. All piping hot & tasty. We had a 3 course meal, this set us up for the night! But we were treated to bacon sandwiches around 10ish, who could resist after a few shandies ....The entertainment was a singer/DJ, he was really good & played a varied selection of genres. The atmosphere was great & everyone was up dancing continually. The magician was fab! He was entertained each table! We were mesmerised by his tricks! The staff worked really hard all night to ensure a good time was had by all. & all our party had an amazing night. Thank you x

Our first visit to Frodsham Golf Club's Sunday carvery as advertised locally. Our impression was of a restaurant with finesse, a means of introducing non-members to the benefits of membership and its catering facilities. The small dining room was laid out like a cafe and run by teenagers. The carvery consisted of a choice of 2 meats, turkey or beef, dried boiled white cabbage, mushy carrot discs, soft boiled potatoes in skins, overcooked roast potatoes and hard Yorkshire puddings. The gravy was the best addition. The food was akin to motorway service quality. We were placed under a TV screen playing non-stop Sky News and there was pop music piped through speakers around the room.We were the only couple in the dining room (the only people dining that is).The carvery photograph on this site bears no resemblance to the actual venue.A return visit is definitely not anticipated.

We had our Sunday Roast at Frodsham GC this last Sunday and I must say "it was 'special' - an extremely pleasant experience!". Their motto is 'Always dry, always welcome...', well we were greeted by happy staff and with a warm welcome. I don't know about the "dry" bit, as there was plenty of booze to choose from the menu - we opted for the house red, a Merlot, which 'pleasantly' was most palatable! There was a choice of three great value for money menus (with a choice of meats too); 3 course, two course, or one course - being of 'small' stature I chose the 3 course, which also included a selection of deserts (great for the girlish figure and waistline!). The whole meal was delicious; my soup choice was hot and tasty, the beef simply melted in one's mouth, the vegetables were hot and cooked just right (al dente and crunchy), and my desert (sweet) choice of profiterols (with cream AND ice cream) one could die for! As you might have imagined, a most enjoyable time was had! One really could not fault the whole occasion, the relaxed ambience of the dining room seemed popular with all the diners - enhanced by the lovely fresh yellow roses on the tables, the pleasant background music, and the friendly polite and efficient service from the staff. We loved it - thanks to you all at Frodsham Golf Club! Tony Warde

After enjoying our meal here for Mothers Day we returned for Fathers Day. It wasn't as busy as Mothers Day but just as good. The food was excellent.I could go there just for the roast potatoes alone!!!! For dessert I had Raspberry Roulade-melt in the mouth, it was gorgeous.Best desserts I have tasted anywhere. The Chef is so accommodating asking if you have enough meat or would like another yorkshire etc. Waiting on staff were quick, efficient and pleasant. Will certainly be going back before next Mothers Day! I'd say to anyone please try this restaurant-it's excellent value with excellent food in a nice relaxed atmosphere.Children are welcome too with a pitch n putt course outside for them. My one gripe is please clean glass in entrance doors-it doesn't give a good impression to what is a lovely restaurant.

We had not had the Sunday Carvery at The Golf Club but our friends suggested we try there for Mothers Day. What an excellent choice. You can have one ,two or three courses. The food was fabulous. We had a choice of beef or ham or both! The meat was melt in the mouth and the roasties were to die for. From a long list of sweets I chose Lemon Merengue pie-gorgeous! We were told that Chef was catering for 200 people and what an excellent job he did. The waiting on staff couldn't be faulted- they were so pleasant and helpful and actually looked as if they were enjoying their job.We also had a gentleman crooner and enjoyed his singing very much. It made it such a relaxed atmosphere even though it was very busy.We will definately be going back there asap. The only fly in the ointment was a very rude diner who passed a nasty remark about me not being able to play golf as , being disabled ,I have to use crutches to walk

Took our society here recently great course and food was excellent as it was our first visit we really looked forward to a new addition to our itinerary, however I felt the staff let it down slightly. On arrival knocked on the secretary's door to one, introduce myself and secondly to hand over a substantial amount of green fees. With one hand over the phone he sent me to the pro shop and I never saw him after that. The lady behind the bar and in charge of food also seemed put out that our prize giving held up the kitchen by 5 mins. maybe small points but they mean a lot to customer service and retention

Myself and the family decided to try the new Sunday carvery at the Frodsham Golf Club. We decided to reserve a table rather than go to the club on spec. The surroundings of the club in the Cheshire countryside was an excellent surrounding for the meal. The standard of the food used in the carvery was of the highest of quality. You are offered a choice of one or two meats (top quality) Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and three vegetables all freshly cooked and piping hot. As well as the carvery you could also choose to have a starter, and choice of three deserts. The meal was very well priced compared to others in the area, at the highest of quality. The staff also deserve a mention for making us feel at home, nothing being too much trouble. We will definitely return in the near future.

Seemed understaffed throughout our visit, not sure what was going on, but our waiter Matt handled every table with ease and made our experience not just enjoyable but unforgettable. Had a good laugh and everything was clean. Food was also delicious - pizza was huge (and very reasonably priced), sea bass cooked well too. Our only regret was that we were too full for desserts. Can’t wait to return - but we do hope they sort out the staffing issue to take the pressure off!
