Friends of Flavours in Bromley

I went to Friends of Flavours after been told by a friend and i was very happy with the food and service The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was great The manager was very happy to make suggestions. Dessert are really nice particularly the homemade tiramisu and the cheesecake I will return for sure

Booked again for Mother’s Day and as usual very happy Place was very busy but service was very attentive and the waitress was very nice. Food was amazing particularly the linguine Lobster and the scallops Can’t wait for the next visit

We will never go back here. We eat out 3 times a week. The first visit here was good, even though they got my husband's meal wrong. They adjusted it and it was ok. Tonight we went here. Starters were good but way smaller. The mains....both pasta very undercooked...erring towards raw. My food was incredibly salty. No checking to see if food was good. I ate barely any. When the bill came I explained that mine was inedible. I paid the bill anyway (including service which was mediocre at best) and no discount. Complete waste of money and we will never eat there again.

Outrageous. Read the menu online. Decided on a bottle of Gavi £37.50 on the website but got charged £52 in the restaurant. Apparently the website is out of date so beware!!! Ridiculous for Penge. Try and support a local restaurant but they are taking the mickey!

Superb restaurant for any type of dining.

We made our 1st visit today and were very pleased with all we saw and ate. We arrived at 1pm and found the restaurant more or less empty - not a good sign? Angelo greeted us and within minutes we relaxed, sensing from his relaxed and comfortable style that we were in capable hands. The menu has plenty of choice and a nice balance of old favourites and some new and unusual dishes. My wife had king prawns in a beer tempura batter, beautifully presented and shell off! To follow she had a nicely displayed mixed grilled fish selection, featuring sea bream, a whole calamari and prawns with some fabulous skin on chips. To follow she demolished a very nicely decorated home made panna cotta. I started with a trio of bruschetta topped with liver and leeks. My main was a masterful chicken milanese with linguine in a cherry tomato sauce - fabulous. To follow was a homemade cheesecake that was utterly Devine. The fluid side was started with an ice cold Ichnusa non filtrata, one of my favourite beers from the island of Sardinia. We had a couple of glasses of a silky smooth Primitivo and 2 glasses of a mellow Recioto (excellent). I can confidently say that we will be returning to further explore the menu. As a side note, we were pleasantly surprised to find that parking nearby was easy to find and was free. The nearby side roads are only affected by residents permits between 10am and midday and are free at all other times.

I took my italian boyfriend to Friends od Flavours for dinner after reading some good review and i we were Both very happy with the food and specially with the service i would for surę recommend this restaurant

I was there couple of days ago for dinner and as usual the food was very good and the manager was very helpfull can't wait to be back

Went for my wife birthday yesterday we were a large group (20) food and service was impeccable particularly Bruschetta and the steak cooked at perfect time and very tasty

Ordered Steaks which were both tough & chewy! Not the quality you expect from an advertised Prime Cut Steaks! Didn’t want to make a scene & send back so ate half each then decided to complain. The rude chef/manager came abruptly out of the kitchen to our tables & refused to except our complaint choosing instead to go to his freezer & obtain a large frozen piece of meat thrusting it at us by our table insisting there was no issue with his meats however that was not the case & chose to ignore our request for a complimentary desert. We refused to pay the service charge or spend anymore money & left. This is not the first time we had cause to complain & despite giving the restaurant repeated opportunities to improve their customer service,yet again we have had cause to complain. Their meats are not to the quality they think they are.Would suggest the family owners need to attend a course in customer relations. AVOID!! Esp’ Steak & Liver!

Great food, as always made a mistake with the starter. This was corrected, and all the food was great.

Dinner for eight and everything was perfect,Angelo and the waitresses were brilliant,never felt ignored or over served,will recommend and return xx

Went for a group meal on a Saturday night. Food was nice and generally large portion sizes for the main courses. Atmosphere was relaxed and a nice mix of local people of all ages eating in. Particularly good if you like sea food options.

Loved the goat's cheese starter - and then a great ravioli. Service was first rate, but went far beyond expected to please us. Wonderful night out - and we noted other diners were also having a good time.

Wednesday evening and went in without a reservation. Sat at table 1, great for a couple! Prosecco was cold and bubbly, food was delicious!

Waiter got the drinks wrong. Main took an hour, chicken was dry. Spent half our time twiddling our thumbs. They still tried to service charge, I didn't pay it.

Really enjoyed our meal at this fun neighbourhood place. From the outside it looks nice enough but inside its really lovely, plenty of space but also not too big. The food is really fantastic, we had baked mushrooms, Greek salad, lasagnati, sage and butter ravioli, and cheesecake for dessert. The wine, especially the dessert wine, was great. Can't fault the service either, really friendly. Great little place.

Friends of Flavours is a charming Italian restaurant in Penge. We had such tasty food this evening: goats cheese salad with raspberry dressing and walnuts and baked mushrooms in Gorgonzola sauce served with garlic bread to start. Our mains were incredible - the Lasagnati (with beef Bolognese cream, Mozzarella & Parmigiano) and Ravioli spinach and ricotta in butter, Parmesan and sage sauce - were really beautiful plates of food. Dessert - the Bruno cheesecake - was so creamy and delicious and the dessert wine sublime. Service was very professional and charming and I really enjoyed the music too - a great evening.

Cute restaurant off main Penge High Street. My Milanese chicken was great - huge piece of chicken in a crispy batter. Delicious. But I wasn’t so keen on the linguini with cherry tomatoes as the tomato skins remained in the sauce. Hub enjoyed the pollo cacciatore which was again huge. For big eaters.

I always desired to eat here, passing it many times& my wish came true! The flavours and quality of the food did not disappoint! The restaurant staff are friendly & the restaurant itself has a cozy feel. I'll definitely be returning :-)

The food is divine and filling... I enjoyed every bite... 👒 off to the chef Unfortunately the service was intense. Sitting at the front i found restaurant is quite small and the staff just stared at us, which I found awkward especially while eating, it was very uncomfortable, as well as the lady making a discussion based around paying the tips. I think people fail to realise as much as prices are going up as a customer I do not have to pay extra for the service by choice. Its not to be discussed, its quite insulting. I'd appreciate paying for what I have ordered. The staff were pleasant but I found the experience uncomfortable. But to be fair I'd return to the restaurant for the food and hope for a more smooth relaxed experience in future 😌 The Kids Ate It All which is definitely a PLUS ➕

Used to be much better place. Not sure... Maybe the owner on management changed, but from one of the best Italian restaurant in the area they went to average i would say. Food it's still good but not as great as used to. Service from super friendly and chatty went to again average. Can't say that it was bad experience but we used to really enjoy visiting that place. Our last visit wasn't that welcoming in my opinion. Hopefully it was just a one time situation and our next visit will be as good at it used to

Really lovely local restaurant in Penge. I've been a few times with a friend, and I've never had a bad meal. The pasta is always fantastic. Good starters and dessert as well. Very friendly staff. Would recommend if you're in the area.

Freshest seafood linguine I've had in the South East London area. They don't overcook the mussels! Kid's penne bolognese came with lots of beef in the sauce. Great service as well asgood came quickly. Will definitely visit again

In my experience, the food superb, atmosphere okay, service poor. So, putting some meat on the bones, arrived at 7:30 and drinks,starters and mains all done by 8:10. Hadn't even sat down and taken our coats off and we were asked what drinks we wanted. Starters and mains literally asked for within 5 mins of arrival. We were hoping to celebrate our daughter's new job but we felt rushed out the door. Maybe we will try again, the food was amazing though.

We first came to this restaurant back in 2014 and 2015 and we both really enjoyed our visits - not sure why we haven't come back until now. Can't say if there are new owners as we don't remember but we do know the interior has changed. It's lovely and bright! Last night we ordered from the specials menu. Superb. The tempura crab was delightful, visually it is something I've not seen before so if you see it on the menu you must try it😀 Our mains and dessert were really good too, Ravioli and steamed Sea Bass followed by pannecote and tiramisu. Service was good albeit a little too quick for our liking but that's a personal preference! Having said that, we were in no way made to feel hurried out once we had finished eating and so stayed a couple of hours. Our waiters were very friendly. I would say the pricing is fair. Although it's not cheap the quality of the food justifies the pricing (I've paid more elsewhere for similar food). Thank you for a wonderful evening.

My friendly recently moved in the area and we decided to try this restaurant which was a short walk. We all agreed it was beautifully decorated and is a cute lunch or date location. The staff were nice and were quite happy with our meals. Especially the tiramisu which we shared since we were so full. I would highly recommend.

I could understand that policy at a prime dinner time but not a 5pm with an empty restaurant. Bad management....lost one loyal local customer....use your common sense people

Arrived at the restaurant when it was less than 50% full without a reservation. Someone clearly having a bad day said nothing apart from ‘no… no’ whilst shaking his head at us. We then left and walked way from the restaurant. The other staff realising the situation came running out after us saying we could eat there but by that stage we didn’t feel much like eating at this establishment. Sort out your customer service.

A beautiful Sunday lunch for four, was an amazing value for money. The quality and the presentation of the good was excellent, as was the service. Their wine (red) was most suitable to my pallette. Although quite small and informal I would happily recommend this restaurant to one and all.

The food was absolutely delicious and has a local chef specific, complemented by a very good service. Will always have it in mind when in the area especially because it accommodates people with coeliac (gluten intolerance)

A second visit to this restaurant. Enjoyed both times. The italian dishes are very good. Service was good, although they gave my friend the wrong prawn dish for starters, but it was changed quite quickly. My linguine main course was quite substantial. The wine list is good and we enjoyed two bottles of the falanghina, which was very drinkable. The cost was just over £150 for 3, including service.

RUDE. ABOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I wanted to eat at this restaurant so badly but we refused after the rude greeting, we were made to feel like a burden, cultery was thrown around. We were served by a short bald man and I did NOT trust this man with my food and refused to stay. Very,very disappointed as I would have loved to eat here.

*change in service levels as noted by other reviewers* I regularly come to this restaurant, at least once a month and often bring new friends as the food has always been consistent, reasonably priced and the service pleasing. However, during the last visit with my friend on a Thursday we received unusual service from one particular waiter (short with shaved head). The restaurant was not even half full so it wasn't a typical busy night here. We were seated at the table we had booked but the table was sprayed and cleaned while we sat there (not pleasant having disinfectant sprayed near the face!). Despite ordering mains and a good priced bottle of wine between us, we sensed the waiter was unhappy when we didn't order dessert, however, we had planned to order more wine to the table. This did not happen because he put the bill on our table (even though we hadn't requested this) and chased us up to pay. It was very odd as other diners were still eating and the restaurant was still open for another hour. We didn't understand why we were rushed to pay and leave. While waiting by the door for our uber (to keep warm) we heard him complaining about us in Italian to a colleague, hearing the word "rude" several times but unable to make out the rest. It is such a terrible shame that one waiter has affected repeat business from a loyal customer of 4 years. He made us feel unwelcome and sadly we won't be returning again. I am leaving 2 stars instead of 1 for the hard working chefs behind the scenes who delivered good food.
