Cafe located on Forest Hill Road down from old Camberwell Cemetery in row of shops near Co-Op just up from Peckham Rye park and Common. Nice french Alp style decor. Small simple menu with excellent coffee and home made savouries (Quiches particularly good) and pastries/cakes. Good local neighbourhood spot for Breakfast or dinner run by lovely Anna.

Cafe located in row of shops on Forest Hill Road just up from the park. Nice decor and display of fresh pastries, cakes and breads (which all looked fresh/good). Service was friendly and welcoming. Only had breakfast which was OK at best …looking pretty uninspiring and with a smattering of avocado on toast with some overripe black pieces. Coffee was great however. First time visit but nice location and service definitely worth another try.

My friends and family (rightly) think I’m fussy when it comes to cafes and cafe food, particularly when it comes to an English breakfast. Of the three or so cafes that I enjoy in the SE22/23 area this has become my favourite. In the 3 months that I have been coming here I have always found the staff friendly and pleasant and having recently become a dog owner really welcome that it’s a genuine dog-friendly cafe. I am surprised by the strength of the negative reviews because the food is of good quality with very generous proportions. The cafe is clean and inviting and has those little extras like sheepskins and blankets for those chilly days. I usually pop in on my dog-walk to the Rye but recently visited with my wife who really enjoyed the experience and (conversely) commented on the generous portion of avocado in her breakfast!

I'm just posting this because I see weirdly bad reviews here - the place is clean, the food is good, and I didn't have any problem, with the staff! I've been there twice recently and will go again.

The first time we went here, we almost didn't go back. The French breakfast has the option of 'extra ham & cheese' for £3.00. Being veggie, I asked, politely, whether it would be possible to have an egg instead of the ham. The waitress simply said 'no' and walked off. We were stunned! However: as it is the nearest café to where we live, we have, in fact, been back since, and the food and coffee (Monmouth!) has always been excellent. The same member of staff has now served us several times and has never been as unfriendly as when we first encountered her (although, judging by some of the comments in other people's reviews, our experience clearly wasn't unique). Perhaps it was an off day. The café can get very busy in the mornings at the weekend, but if you go during the week it is much quieter and a great place to get some work done or read a book. The croissants, baguettes, and pastries are all delicious, and the veggie breakfast is one of the best in the area. It also seems to be very dog friendly.

I’ve lived in the area all my life. I’ve walked past many times and decided to give it a go. First impressions the place is filthy, dirty chairs and sticky tables. Poor limited choice on the menu. I ordered a chicken salad and a beer. 20mins later no drinks have arrived so I had to get up and remind the waitress we were there. Then this salad arrived. Honestly the driest piece of chicken I have ever seen in my life. It looked like it was cooked weeks ago. I am astonished that they would even have the audacity to serve that. Just look at the pictures. Salad was just a bunch of leaves no seasoning. My guests food was awful too. And to top it off it’s not even cheap. It’s clearly a popular place for locals and their dogs. Dog food!

Regular customers but alas no more - was told by the front of house to take a table at the back to be barked at by the waitress to go stand at the front and wait - it is at this point that she barely had to explain that she had promised the table to someone else but she would sort us out shortly. Other diners in the restaurant was shocked by her tone and attitude towards me and I was made to feel like a naughty child. She came back to explain but her home manner and attitude was still aggressive. She ended the conversation with the question but do you want the table or not. It goes without saying that we chose know.

Nice coffee. From what I could see the food being served to other customers looked good. Such a shame that the two waitresses were so miserable :( My friend is a local and we wouldn't go back.

I have been here twice now and although we were seated quite quickly on both occasions. I found the service lacking. Abrupt and unfriendly. The first time I ordered an English breakfast and asked to swap one of the items for something else and the owner refused. I vowed not to come back but I had friends who wanted the more "gentrified Dulwich experience" They got it - the clientele was what they expected. But found the service poor. My friend ordered tap water and the waitress rolled her eyes. As regards the food - the size of the portions for what you pay has a stingy feel about them. My friends confirmed this feeling. Two of them ordered avocado on toast and found it lacking. For one the avocado was not on the toast. And it came just plain - not mixed with anything. My friends thought the food was "okay." Not exceptional. Luckily my friends experienced two other restaurants this weekend in the same area that were just fab.

We go at least 3 times a week Excellent breakfast. They Do lovely soup at lunchtime. The French bakery cooked on the premises are second to none. One of the best muffins and cheese sticks not to mention the excellent croissant and pain au chocolat around Excellent service by attentive staff.

My partner and I went in for breakfast and, although we were seated quickly, we ended up not being served and had to walk out when they served a table that came in a lot after us. It’s such a shame as we live very locally and wanted to really enjoy this place. My recommendation would be to go to Norris and Knight up the road, always quick service and never forgotten!

This cafe seems to prefer dogs to it's customers. Staff plays with the animals and do not wash their hands. Tables grubby and food average

This is my favourite local cafe- been coming here for years. It’s a friendly place, staff are lovely and the atmosphere is great . Particular favourites are the vegetarian breakfast, the delicious baguettes and tasty carrot cake . Highly recommend a trip here with friends or family. So pleased to have it just down the road from me.

Buy a couple of baguettes and croissants from here, then pop a few doors down to the Co-op (or Tesco or any supermarket) and buy the things that are laughingly called baguettes and croissants. No comparison! The croissants aren't cheap, but they are soooo much better. So, if you want to treat yourself to quality tartine on a Sunday morning, it's worth it !!
