A little gem of a place, off the beaten track with beautiful estuary views, friendly staff, excellent food and reasonably priced too. Called off here on the way to our holiday cottage rental in Instow, it turned out to be the perfect choice. Just had coffee and cake in our first visit which were excellent, so good in fact that we went back 3 days later for lunch. Their filled jacket potato, with the most delicious fresh salad, dressing and homemade coleslaw was delicious. Definitely worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed. We will definitely be back.

Fabulous location, fabulous food and wonderful staff. I had a homemade baguette with cheese and tomato and cider chutney. This came with a side salad and crisps, defiantly worth having. The latte was very tasty, too. Staff so happy and polite. Decided to take some cake home with us, best coffee and walnut I've had in a very long time. I'm looking forward to returning.

It was a dull day in March, and I felt a bit fed up, so I decided to meet a friend at this café. On my arrival, I was met with a friendly welcome, and shown to a table. I had a coffee and the Quay Breakfast. It was lovely, and what could be better than looking out over the River Taw. The breakfast was superb, as usual. The staff were fantastic, and I left much happier than when I arrived. Thank you.

We had this place recommended to us for a great breakfast. We had our dog with us and couldn’t eat in the restaurant, but the ladies working there made us a fabulous hearty home cooked breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed in our car looking at the beautiful views. There are lots of outside tables which are pet friendly, unfortunately it was raining… The breakfast items were of the very best quality and perfectly cooked and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We would heartily recommend this fabulous little cafe at Fremington Quay, well worth travelling to if you’re anywhere in North Devon…

We normally just have coffee & cake here. The cakes are all delicious & very generous portions. However, this week we had lunch & it was without doubt the best roast meal I have ever had. From the melt-in-your-mouth tender beef to the pureed swede, everything was cooked to perfection & tasted wonderful. (To be fair, one of my parsnips was undercooked, but I'm not going to deduct marks for that.) It was also a very generous size. There was loads of meat , then when I moved a potato there was more underneath! Next time I go back I'll be having a smaller breakfast so I can fit it all in!

The most beautiful scenic cafe offering a vast selection of foods and afternoon teas, a little off the beaten track but a wonderful rest stop for those walking, cycling, running the Tarka trail, we dined for lunch and introduced a family member from Scotland to the best cream tea she'd ever tasted! In fact it was her first one and she was mighty impressed! She also got the cream first topped with Jam issue right! I prefer the other way round personally but gave her credit for doing the right thing in the right county!😋 We had huge doorstop sandwiches and jacket potato's, the most amazing bakes available to eat in or take away, all provided by lovely friendly staff in the loveliest setting. Best for early summer evenings where you can watch the sun setting and get some incredible photographs.

Isn’t it great when you come across a new rustic cafe that serves the best food and drinks. The menu is not huge but it’s all tasty stuff. Our mouths watered as we queued and saw the tasty food being brought to tables by the myriad of friendly servers. It’s all cooked fresh and piled on the plate, you won’t leave hungry. Their cakes are home make and scrumptious. All the servers were smiley and happy to serve you. They must enjoy working there. It’s only a small place with about a dozen tables, so be prepared to queue at busy times. The single width access road (with passing places) is a good half mile and takes patience to traverse. Well defo be back when next in the area.

I absolutely love this place! Everything they do is simply wonderful. I've been for breakfast with friends, and honestly it was the best cooked brekkie I've ever had, this time it was a lunch visit with the family. We all ordered something different and everything was incredible, the kids lunch deal comes with a little drink and a selection of fruit which I thought was a really nice touch, the missus had an amazing chicken salad from the special board. I had to go for the loaded baguette with bacon, chicken and melted cheese after I saw someone on the table next to us loving every mouthful! The staff are always attentive and friendly even when they are all rushed off their feet! 11/10 I will be back very soon as I love the cheese scones and the Rarebit!

Whilst the natural setting is beautiful & the cafe is a lovey building inside & out. The service however was really really slow, & unorganized. Staff didn't seem to be communicating with each other or have a plan & appeared to struggle with the sheer amount of customers over a busy lunch time period. It's a shame they were not better prepared & focused, under pressure. The food when it finally arrived however was lovely, but we almost left because of the terrible wait time. With so many tourists I hope they improve on this as I'm doubtful we would return again to wait so long for basic snack food. Our coffee was very nice but again took an age to order & a age to arrive.

Sunday lunch for two vegetarians. Their nut roast baguette served with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Accompanied with a jug of veggie gravy and a pot of sweet chilli chutney. My only criticism is - it's very carb heavy (don't get me wrong I Love carbs). But possibly some veg to be included? Roast butternut squash mashed/carrot & swede mash/peas mashed and spread into the filling? The gravy was good and tasty. The outdoor setting just perfectly picturesque. Extensive drinks menu and cakes 🤤 Staff working very hard but still remains cheerful, even with customers queuing out the door. The meat choice on the Sunday we went, was roast beef. Finished off with a slice of carrot cake and a latte. Expect to queue but it was worth it.

Its great not having dog owners with there smelly four legged freinds sitting amongst people eating and relaxing. Its also good policy to let them sit outside where they belong

Stumbled across the cafe when we arrived in Ilfracombe and needed coffee. Quaint and characterful and clearly has it's regular customers. Coffee was good and hot but the homemade Eccles cake was amazing! The other treats looked good too. Coming across The Naked Cake cafe was the best thing about Ilfracombe which was otherwise, tatty and very down at heel.

Great little takeaway, value for money and polite staff. We eat from there regularly and have never had a problem 👌

Lovely modern roomy lodges in a beautiful location. Breakfast choice was great, cooked breakfast very good & piping hot👍 Pub food also excellent, quick service, good choices. Most staff helpful & friendly. One member of staff who greeted us on arrival wasn't welcoming. Only a couple of minor things- rusty toilet roll holder which spoilt the rest of the very new bathroom & the shelf above sink is in the way. Suggestion - small fridge, there is room. Mirror near plug sockets. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A truly lovely cafe catering for both vegetarians and vegans, as well as carnists. The man working behind the counter was delightful, friendly and helpful.

Four of us popped in today and we were glad we did ! Looking through the window showed it was full but a table of four had just got up so we sat in their seats :) We all had the Breakfast at £11 each. Couldn’t fault the meal at all, plenty on the plate and locally sourced. Really good selection of coffee, tea and fresh orange 🍊 juice. Highly recommended Get a seat and order at the counter. Very pleasant polite service as well. Seating outside. Well done 👏👏
