Frankie & Benny’s in Newcastle upon Tyne

Wife just been with bairn her pasta was on the side for pick up for 20 mins while waiting for the bairns food. It was cold and disgusting they won't be back in total waited 40 mins and 20 of that the food was on the side. AVOID DISGUSTING. Carbonarra... It ain't the 1st review too be criticised nothings changed in a year. I'd of stayed n kicked off cos I wouldn't pay wife ain't like that but she will never go back.

It's always a pleasure to be there, because of their overall superb service. We always go for our meal every time we go to the city centre.

Cuando mi hijo era más joven Frankie y Bennys siempre fue una apuesta segura para una comida barata y alegre que era de buena calidad y tenía buen servicio. Así que el miércoles pasado estábamos caminando por el barrio gris y vimos un frankie y Benny's y pensamos en darle una oportunidad. Sin embargo, nos quedamos decepcionados, la calidad de la comida pobre, algunos tamaños de porción eran pobres y el servicio era inexistente una vez que se puso un poco más ocupado. No volveremos.

Mi lugar favorito para ir! Cada vez que visito a mi novio de larga distancia en Newcastle venimos aquí al menos una vez. Es uno de los pocos lugares que tiene una variedad de comida que puedo comer. Esta vez llevé a mis hijos e incluso tenían pizza vegana pepperoni que era perfecta para mi hijo vegetariano. El servicio era fantástico y el joven sirviendo no podía hacer lo suficiente por nosotros. Perfecta experiencia gastronómica!

Great tasting food, good portions and excellent service

My friend and I were served my Fern today, she was extremely accommodating for both of our dietary requirements and provided us with great service the whole time we were in the restaurant. We really appreciated it, thank you Fern :)

My son said they were the best fries he has ever had and that they were better than mcdonalds, and my salad was absolutely delicious. Best salad I've ever had too.

It was ok. Got the free main for signing up however you have to buy two mains and get the cheaper one for free so it was a pointless reward. Prefer Metrocentre to be honest.

I went to F&B with a group of 6 friends. Took us about 10 minutes to get seated and then got left for another 15 for drinks. Out drinks arrived then they took out food order. Food was bang average nothing special. We then had our plates cleared and waited close to 30 mins for desert order. We ended up getting the bill as it took ages . Then I had a service charge put on my card that was not on the bill. Don’t know if they are understaffed or not very attentive. Would not recommend!

Had 2 courses, wouldn't fault anything! Food was hot and tasty. Can't believe I've never been here, went to TGI Fridays and I'd say here was better! Even more so for the price! Highly recommend!!

Visited with a friend for lunch, we were quickly welcomed and shown to a table. Jordan looked after us well, taking orders in good time, our food and drinks arrived in good time. Also he made sure our couple changes we requested were done. The food was hot and tasty when it arrived, we were checked in as expected. Overall a great meal and wouldn't hesitate to go again. Had a really nice meal. Food delicious and one of the kids ate for free. One issue was that I wasnt able to use a free garlic pizza voucher at the same time as kids eat free but wasnt told this before I ordered and had to pay full price for the garlic pizza which I only really wanted because I had the free voucher. Should have been told this before I ordered but didnt spoil what was a very nice meal.

“Lazanya is delicious, I love it! It has a rich flavor and is served piping hot. As for Frankie’s Classic Meatballs, they have a different taste from what I’ve had before. They feel milder compared to the rich taste of lasagna. There’s a slight spiciness that’s almost imperceptible. The meatballs themselves are tasty, and the overall portion size is quite big. Me and my husband went here about a month ago for breakfast and we honestly couldn’t fault it - the food was good, the service was good and it was just generally a great experience but then fast forward to this afternoon and we fancied another breakfast so decided to go here again, we were about to spend the best part of £30 because we also had a £20 Eldon Square gift card. Unfortunately due to issues with public transport we were running late, as I’m heavily pregnant my husband ran ahead to try and get us a table in time for breakfast knowing it stops at midday. My husband arrived at exactly 11:59am and was told that they wouldn’t be serving us breakfast. We were disappointed in that response as they didn’t even bother to check with the kitchen whether they could accommodate us, now I would completely understand if we were 10 or 15 minutes late but the fact that my husband literally arrived at 12pm on the dot I think this was a bit unfair. It meant that we just went elsewhere instead, at a time when Frankie & Benny’s are closing restaurants up and down the country I’m not quite sure how they can afford to turn any business away. The Metrocentre branch always accommodates us if we’re running 5 minutes late by still allowing us a breakfast. We will be reluctant to visit this branch in future which is a real shame as their breakfasts are delicious! We also asked if they accepted the Eldon Square gift cards and they said no, when every other shop inside the centre does. Overall not a great experience today! I have since emailed them regarding this matter and I keep getting snotty replies back stating I have sent it to Bella Italia and not Frankie & Benny’s when I have simply followed the link on their website, either way they don’t seem bothered or interested so I’ll be avoiding this place from now on!

Visited this restaurant for the first time with my wife around midday on Saturday as a welcome shopping break. We must have timed it well because we got a table no problem but a queue soon formed after us. The positives first - the food was great, we both opted for the "classic dog" which was simple and tasty along with a soft drink each. The only downside was the service. Although the waiting staff were friendly enough (apart from an older guy who seemed to be very bored with his job), we had problems catching their attention when we needed them - whether this was to place our order, or get our bill - and this took some doing. I know the place was busy but they need to pay more attention to the seated customers and not just those queuing. All in all, the food won over, so I'm sure we'll be back.

Very disappointed with my meal today at frankie and bennys. Starter of southern fried chicken was nice but omg the spaghetti bolgenes was horrible, so bland little bit mince no sauce spaghetti over cooked had to leave it, my friends dinner was the same who had hot dog in a bin. The bun was a brioche bun and the hotdog was like it had been warmed in the oven, the onions were pkt onions deep fried and greasy not fresh even the fries weren't nice. Wouldn't come back 😒

Think I’ve only ever had Frankie & Bennys once before years ago and wasn’t that great. But thought we’d try this one when I finished work. So happy we did! Was sooooo good! Staff were friendly and welcoming. Checked if we had any allergies. We got a pizza each and my son got a garlic bread, freshly made on sourdough 😍. We also got buffalo chicken loaded fries and they were to die for! Will definitely be back.

My recent visit to this restaurant was deeply unsatisfactory, a stark contrast to the usual standard. Our order consisted of two courses accompanied by drinks. Despite the restaurant being relatively empty, our service experience was frustratingly slow and disorganised. We endured a lengthy wait of 25 minutes before our starters arrived, and to our dismay, the drinks followed only after we had finished our starters. This wasn't an isolated incident, as we noticed similar service delays at other tables. Our main course, which we eagerly anticipated, took another 25 minutes to arrive, and to add to our discontent, the side of fries we ordered was missing. Attempts to flag down a waiter to rectify this were futile. After our meal, we promptly requested the bill, only to find that we were incorrectly charged for the fries we never received. Upon addressing this issue with the waiter, his response was far from professional. He crumpled the receipt in his hands and disregarded our complaint, choosing instead to tend to other tables. After an additional 15-minute wait, he returned with an inability to amend the bill and asked us to manually calculate the new total without the fries. Overall, this experience was not only disappointing but also appalling in terms of service quality. There was a complete lack of apology or acknowledgment of our dissatisfaction. I hope this feedback prompts the necessary improvements to ensure better experiences for future customers.

The burger and chips were acceptable. Service was reasonably quick. Price a bit high in my view for what I got.

Went for lunch today. Was having a bit of a bad day then my granddaughter knocked a drink over me. Fern, the waitress was absolutely brilliant, she cleaned it all up and she couldn't do enough for us. Thanks so much Fern.

We decided to go into Franky & Benny's on our last visit to Newcastle and I'm so glad we did. We received a warm friendly welcome from Nick who showed us to our table, reviewed my food intolerances, offering a small tablet that enabled me to check menu details. We selected breakfast meals which were quickly brought to us by Jordan, another friendly, team member. The meals were hot, tasty and well priced This is a restaurant I would recommend to anyone looking for friendly, polite, well informed staff, with a wide range of tasty food, can accommodate a diverse range of food allergies and intolerances and is set comfortable surroundings with a relaxed atmosphere

Breakfast was poor ,cold tomato, lukewarm beans,cold mushrooms,sausage fatty,overall enough to make us go elsewhere.

Food was nice enough without being amazing but portions small and expensive. The amount of chips served with the burger seemed particularly small since it cost £15. Serving staff very friendly and helpful.

While I was ordering (using the website) me and my friends were choosing our food and we were being harassed by the workers asking us multiple times if we had ordered yet. It made us feel very uncomfortable and pressured. Will not be coming back here again very poor customer service. Even after we ordered we were still questioned on our ordering process.

Hadn’t been Frankie and Benny’s for quite a while and now I remember why. I ordered the carbonara at £14.20 which resembled a supermarkets own brand bang in the microwave job. This tasted nothing like carbonara and had to ask for Parmesan and was provided with a thimble sized pot. I could have done with a bucked load to try and take away the nasty taste. My daughter had the pepperoni pizza which also tasted cheap and poor quality. The only good thing out of the meal was the garlic bread with cheese which was really nice and the chips were ok. For the price I might have well of popped to Asda and recreated this for a fraction of the price. This place doesn’t do ‘cooking’ and there is nothing authentic about it this food. Just heat up/ pre cooked food. Will never return to eat this nasty over priced place again.

Food was okay more like pub chain meals than i expected. Didnt get food specification right asked for no cheese on cheeseburger i got bread and burger literally nothing in it. Garlic bread butter was still cold on top. Did i ask for it to be corrected no kids were starving and wanted to eat and be out. Worth value no i dont think so.

Went in with some friends and three kids. The staff were straight over with colouring to keep them entertained. The staff were fantastic including one person who was only doing her second ever shift. She was patient with the kids complicated orders and smiled through the shift. As a vegetarian the food options were brilliant, good quality and the evening and kids menu were a bargain.

Great food and very good prices. Kids loved fun packs provided and ate up all their food. Definitely our first stop when next in Newcastle.

Gorgeous cheese burger. Chips were nice, could be better. Vanilla and strawberry ice cream were Gorgeous. Brownie was very nice but a little burnt. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. Recommend the lunch set menu for 2 courses for 12.90 or 1 course for 9.90. Recommend 100%

Not been in here for while was pleasantly surprised the menu is lot better then what it used to be like the choice is much easier to navigate then previous one service is now better u seem to get your order ie food lot quicker it is generous size also quality wise it's mint waiters our friendly & polite has a relaxing feel to it now ..would a return yes ..

5 star mainly for the staff and service. Never had an issue with the food either however I go here with my son (who has additional needs) and the staff are always very understanding and supportive. Which is why when we are in Newcastle this is where we go, plus he always eats well here which is great as he can be fussy.

Burgers were undercooked we had to send them back. Steak is one thing but I don't expect my burger to be rare. Doubt I'll be back

Not good value for money in the slightest. £80+ for a lunch meal for 3. This pricing is so bloated and the drinks are scandalous. I can directly compare this to an evening meal taken at a 4Star hotel in the city, which was £25 cheaper for much better fine dining. You will lose customers by boosting prices, especially on a lunch time menu. I won't come again, and neither will any of my family, its just not value for money. There are other places, with better food that are cheaper. Stop milking the bottle line.

The best location in the toon. They have nice cocktails and I love their Bangin Burger Meals, which I usually order through Uber Eats if you're looking for drinks and food. I would recommend giving it a shot. The staff is welcoming, supportive, and helpful.

Good service. Good food. Food came fast. It's never going to be gourmet but it's just simple food that comes quick. We had the two course lunch menu which is a good price for these days. Good amount of choices.

When we first arrived, the waitress sat us down and gave us our menus which had another menu inside. On the other menu it said we were able to have a two course meal for £15.40 so we ordered our mains and after we finished that we ordered our deserts ( of course thinking we would get it for £15.40 because that’s what it said on the menu the waitress gave us ). However, this was not the case as when the bill came we were appalled at how much it was, we told the waitress we had the special so surely it would work out cheaper? Just for her to tell us it was an evening menu???? then why give it to us now and not tell us? to purposely rip us off? she also knew what we ordered so why not mention that the special is only in the later afternoon?? Not to mention there was a hair in one of my friends desserts. Just absolutely appalled.

On arrival we were met by the manager who was very friendly and attentive. Special attention was given to our young child which was nice. Menus were quick to arrive and the server who brought our food and drinks was also friendly. The breakfasts we ordered were delicious and served in quick time. At the end we were given a tablet which we haven't seen before so thought that was how we paid, the manager had already walked away so we couldn't ask. It turned out to be only for reviews, she returned after a couple of minutes with the card machine. This moment of confusion is the only issue, a quick explanation would have been helpful. Otherwise great place, lovely staff.

We visited Frankie & Benny's in Eldon Square as we had read about their 'wonderful & new' gluten free menu. As both my partner and I are Coeliac, finding places to eat while out and about are incredibly difficult. We ordered the New York Barbeque Chicken. It came with a jacket potato and a piece of sweetcorn. I asked if there was an altenative to sweetcorn as I don't like it, but was told no. Not a problem, but what was an issue was the meal we got. A piece of dry chicken with very little BBQ sauce. Cheese that appeared to be invisible and more fat than actual bacon. The jacket potato was dry and crumbly and mostly black. It was served on a metal tray with thin paper on top! Obviously coeliacs can't have plates like 'normal' people. Paper with hot food on top disintergrates. Not what you want to eat as part of your meal! This pathetic and disgusting meal cost us £16.70 EACH!! Yes, we should probably have complained there and then, but we didn't have time to go anywhere else due to work commitmments and to be honest what could they have done. The meal was probably as good as it was going to be. We will never eat here again and as for the 'wonderful & new' GF menu...they shouldn't have bothered!!!

I have just witness how the staff of frankies and bennys have complained about a neighbouring restaurant for having their music on. when the security have came down to ask them to turn it down, the manager and other members of staff from this establishment have went and huddled around at the door laughing about it. They have continued to antagonise the poor lass working their just doing her job and cleaning by staring in and laughing and her. The manager of frankies and bennys is going out of her way to walk to the front of the restaurant and out of frankies and bennys to wave and laugh at this girl. This is bullying tactics and I'm so shocked by this establishment. I think they are the ones who needs to be putting complaints in for their behaviour. Never witness a more pathetic bunch of staff and most of it coming from the manager. Their behaviour is so childless and like they are in a playground huddling around in groups. But what do you expect of the staff when they have a manager promoting it and being the main instigator. Very disappointing

Visited Saturday 25th feb 23 around 1pm ish. The girl that served me and our Olli was spot on, with no issues at all. Polite, smiling, and use of empathy. Tobe, honest, this girl deserves some sort of management recognition

The food was ok, however the service wasn't, we were a group of 4 adults and 1 child, they served our main course before taking away out starter's, we then had to ask for our main course to be taken away while serving desert. They did manage to clean empty tables around us.

We have been going to Frankie and Bennys for nearly 18 years, since my daugjter was a baby and always loved it and found the staff ama,zing and my daughter.went to the Eldon square one in Newcastle to celebrate a special occasion on Friday 4th November and the staff were so rude and the customer service was terrible it spoilt her night and she said she would never go back. Also was told they no longer do spaghetti bologneise which is the only thing she eats on the menu and the food she was served was an extremely small portion and not very nice, she was still hungry when she came out, not worth the money at all. Very disappointing.

Popped in for lunch. Great value lunch time menu. Quite a busy lunch time and the team still managed to refresh the bottomless drinks without being asked. Food was great, team were great, always smiling and full of energy. Will be back. Thank you for looking after us Julia 🙂
