Did a order on line asked the lad serving if that was all there said yes got home chips missing rang up they give a refund for the chips . But if you are going to be rude about you're customers at least put the phone down first so the customer doesn't hear you. 1 portion of chip between 4 adults and a child .

This used to be such a good chippy! Had fish & chips tonight, v poor! Chips were dry and lukewarm, not fresh. Fish wasn’t much better. For the price we pay now, definitely not value for money. Quality or quantity!

We were staying for the weekend and thought we’d try Francine’s. The food was delicious in all honesty however we have found the staff incredibly rude tonight (they were talking about us within earshot) and this made us feel extremely unwelcome so we will not be returning.

We moved to Newquay in Aug 2023 and have tried alot of the local chippies. We go here every couple of weeks and this Francine's always serves generous chip portions and their batter is lovely and crispy. Fish portions are also a really decent size. Everyone's tastes are different but for us Francine's hits the spot.

Really, really enjoyed my cod & chips. Lovely batter, didn’t get soggy or greasy. Fish was so tasty and the chips spot on. Will happily eat there again.

Francine's was always our favourite place to go for fish and chips, I have also left a five star review on here a few years ago. Sadly the quality has gone down this year. Maybe there has been a change of ownership? We have had food from Francines several times over the last few months and the chips have been hard, greasy and unpleasant, definitely not fluffy and light like they used to be. The rest of the food has been okay but just average. After preserveering to see if it would change we have decided we will be looking for somewhere else to get our chips from now on.

The chips from Francine's have become expensive but is there need for portions to be reduced? By the time I got home the chips had gone rock hard and extremely fatty tasting (Yes I know they're done in beef dripping). Not like the chips we used to get. Hurt my gums eating but gave up as totally dissatisfied withy purchase. Been a customer for years but I am afraid we won't be buying from here anymore.🙁

We had just been to the fireworks in Newquay on Sat 4.11.23 we were walking back to the car and saw the chippy - it was busy but there were plenty of 'cheerful' staff behind the counter who knew how to handle the pressure of a rush of customers!! We had the OAP hake & chips serving, we've been here before but that was a year ago when we were here last and the quality has not changed, it was an excellent size portion and it was delicious!!

Fantastic! Came to Newquay to visit the Blue Reef aquarium & searched Trip Advisor for best fish & chip shop. Francine’s came up with great reviews so we put the sat nav on & found it easily not far away. Definitely worth it! Fish & chips amazing & curry sauce really tasty but not too spicy ( perfect for us). I was particularly impressed with how clean it all was in the shop but the best thing of all was the staff … it is so rare nowadays to get really good customer service let alone a smile. The girl serving behind the counter was exceptional! Friendly, efficient, absolutely excellent. She knew the area well & recommended somewhere/gave directions we could go with the little one to eat our fish & chips nearby. Very happy customer 😊 Highly recommended ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Worth the walk from fistral beach - we walked 45 mins after persuading my partner to go to here! Beef dripping chips were amazing and large cod as good!

This chip shop is the best by far we have found in Cornwall. We visit every time we are down. The fish is huge, and just flakes, the batter melts in your mouth and the chips are cooked to perfection. Needless to say really big portions, one large chips did 3 adults, and we then had a piece of fish each and a curry sauce of course. The best best best! Well done again Francines, still unbeaten.

When I first went in June I was impressed and would have given 4 stars. So being on holiday again this September I obviously chose to to use them again. But this time I was really disappointed. Apart from the fish being very overcooked the chips were tiny slivers. And rock hard. In fact so hard one cut my gum. Wont be going again.

Fantastic fish and chips! We visit every time we’re in Cornwall and haven’t found a fish and chip shop that compares- even local to us. Would highly recommend. Good portions and always brilliantly cooked. Mushy peas are also lovely!

Had take out for 15 people. Ordered online and the food order was ready at the requested time. All food was hot and the order was accurate. Tasty food and very (overly!) generous portions.

Saw reviews and traveled quite a way to get food. Sadly we didn't see the bad reviews, it's put me off fish shops, chips were great, fish huge got excited as very hungry! Batter however was flat, chewy and a funny texture and both of us a few hours later had gassy stomach and severe bad stomachs for a day those who didn't have fish and chips and chose something else were fine.

Went on the recommendation of a friend, waited half an hour before I got my order. Portions were big but the chips were bland, never saw vinegar put on any orders just salt. Threw most of it away.

Treated the family to a fish and chip dinner and we had haddock, cod, steak pie and chicken nuggets. Overall, it was delicious but I have docked a star that I’ll come to in a minute. The price was a little more expensive than at home but as it’s the middle of the tourist season and the quality was really good then I was ok with that. Portions were big so I was happy I got value for money. It was £11.90 for fish and chips. Chips were nice and crispy and soft on the middle, pie and nuggets were tasty and the fish was really big and delicious. The only thing that stopped me giving it full marks was the batter on the fish as it just wasn’t that crispy. It was a little flat. I check the other photos in Tripadvisor and it appears that it is just their cooking style versus my personal preference, Overall, a great experience, delicious and I will be back.

Love the fish and chips here, always good quality. It is very popular and so there is often a short wait. They have a website so you can order in advance which is worthwhile.

Very good fish and chips. Batter thin, fish nice and meaty. Chips good. Decent potions. Not that far a walk from the cliffs over the sea, so got a great view eating them as well.

Don't go anywhere else just go here, the food quality is so much better than any of the other chip shops, the portion sizes are huge and it's also lower prices than their competitors! An added bonus is that they also do kebabs :)

We found this chippy whilst on holiday and ended up going there twice in 5 days as it was so good. Fantastic portions of chips, huge cod with lovely crisp batter, proper chicken breast nuggets and yummy battered sausages. 100% enjoyed by all!

We have been coming to Francines now since it opened, went through a slight bad patch about 12 months ago, but it is now back to its wonderful food, called tonight fish chips and curry sauce, feeds 2 of us everything was still piping hot when we got home, beautiful all round especially the thick chunky white fish, keep this standard up please, u guys are amazing

Following the reviews attended here on 8th October 2020 while enjoying a week away. I got a large cod and chips, which were £8.70 but for the price you get so so much a large could feed 3 (if you want to share) as these chips are by far the best chips are I have ever had. Cooked in beef drippings adds such a beautiful flavour to the chips and also to the batter on the fish.5 stars and a must visit

We love Francines fish and chips in Newquay. The best fish and chips for miles, in our eyes the best we have tasted period. Beautiful large cod fish that over hangs the plate, no bones!! And the chips are cooked in beef dripping, and are very generous portions unlike others in the area, we Wouldn’t visit anywhere else in Newquay now.We are actually from Suffolk and travel to Cornwall a couple of times each year, we always make sure to stop in Francines at least couple of times each trip, and I can honestly say we have never had a bad experience. They have also got an ordering system in place due to a covid, which makes things as safe as possible to order and collect. Although be prepared you do need to wait outside, but we totally understand this. Well done Francines and thank you for our lovely fish and chip supper once again.

The best fish and chips by far!! All cooked in the old fashioned way in beef dripping. If there is ever an excuse to move to Newquay this would be my excuse. Excellent staff, great sense of humour especially under pressure, went there twice on our stay and queued....but excellent system in place during Covid. Absolutely discussing food and do not recommend at all the fish and chips were massively greasy and left so much grease at the roof of my mouth after just a mouthful,the gravy was watery and the worst tasting iv ever had. The best place for it was in the bin!!

Firstly I should point out there appear to be two establishments, one in Newquay and one in St Austell. Trip Advisor only recognises the Newquay one, whereas Google (clearly coming up to overtake Trip Advisor) recognises both! I went to the St Austell one. It was one of those purely coincidental visits caused by a rumbling stomach and all the restaurants being booked. We drove past it and one quick u-turn later were queuing up outside with some friendly locals. The fish was fresh and flaky the batter crisp and the chips just the right texture and taste. The only issue is that there is no outside menu, so as they only allow one at at time inside you have to shout the menu out to your companion(s) to give an order which slows the process somewhat, and of course you look a bit of an idiot.

Ate from Francines after a long journey to our holiday let, we were not disappointed the fish was huge and very yummy! Would definitely recommend but in hindsight we would have rested 2 for the 4 of us instead of one each as you get a lot for your money in the fish alone

The thing is, when you go to a pub the Fish 'n Chips are generally rubbish. Not the best quality fish, often unqualified friers and the same chips whether you'r having a burger or fish.That's why you need to go to a PROPER Fish 'n Chip shop that specialises in this quintessential English dish most nights of the week throughout the year. At Francine's this is what you get. They know how to buy the best fish, the best potatoes to fry depending on the time of year...and they don't use any of that namby pamby vegetable oil...they use REAL BEEF DRIPPING!This makes Fish 'n Chips a wonderful dish with a flavour you won't get from any other oil. Just go to Francine's...it's the best and if you don't believe me check out the queue. The locals know what's best.

Arrived to our owned caravan in Newquay last night not really knowing what would be open. Was so pleased to see these were not only open but currently doing delivery!! Well pleased after a 5 hour drive. Delivery was only £2.50. The best tasting food as ever. The freshest fish and the gravy is a must. Best ever. Can not recommend this Chippy enough. Simply the best. Never ever failed us ❤

When you haven’t had proper fish and chips for over a year and you come to Francine’s 👍😍😀. Incredibly cooked fish in an immense batter and I’m told the chip oil is beef fat. Yummmm.

My favourite Fish and Chip shop. Everywhere else just disappoints after Francine's. I've always felt guilty about the polystyrene trays until today! I just wanted a portion of chips for lunch which came in a thick paper bag. Really happy and guilt free - unless you are counting calories :-)My only suggestion would be to add something like Hake to the menu while Cod stocks are low, then I could come for the full package for tea more often.

Have tried this chippy on two occasions this year, once early summer, and again today, both times, very disappointing. The proprietor(s) should focus on quality, rather than quantity. The batter was so soggy, the paper it was wrapped stuck, peeling off most of the batter. The chips on arriving home, was also a soggy, greasy mess, with not one crisp chip in sight. I normally stay at the Porth area of Newquay, but I will literally go the extra mile to go to Flounders in the town in future. One the plus side, serving staff are very pleasant. Real shame!

I live in Purley just outside London. Was here on holiday staying at Newquay holiday park in a deluxe caravan which wasnt delux at all. So i was so nice to find something to cheer us up. Wish i could take this chippy back home.

We stumbled across Francine's, as we didnt realise it was around the corner of shops near to where we were staying. It was very busy when we arrived around 5.30pm, which was a good sign to us as this showed it must be popular. I ordered a small cod and chips (around £5.80) my sister ordered the large at (£7.00). The portions were phenomenal and the service was very quick. There was plenty of staff working on the front counter serving and also behind cooking, which made a smooth operation flowing. When I got back to the B&B and took one bite out of the cod, it was amazing. Not too much batter and fresh tasty cod. The cod was perfectly salted with vinegar. This is the best I have had and I will miss this place when I leave!! You must come here to try it. They also do burgers, mushy peas and much more.

We are Londoners, on holiday staying at the lovely Skyline Guest House in Newquay, just across the road to Francines Fish and Chips Shop. This is the best cod and chips I have ever eaten! I have travelled around the world and the fish was amazing at low prices. I must say having visited last year Rick Stein's Fish and Chips in Fistral, this is ten times better.They have many efficient, friendly and organised servers, so the queue is quick. You order and you are given a number, when ready your number is called to come to the front.Great food...a must visit when you crave that takeaway.Ten minutes walk from Lusty Glaze Beach, and near to Tolcarne beach.

Fish cooked fresh. Chips great taste and texture. We had a regular cod (which was actually the same as a large one elsewhere) plus large chips. Well the large chips could easily serve 3 adults. All cooked in beef dripping Really good!

This is a very popular Fish and Chip shop and it deserves to be.If you like good fish and chips then this the place, considering the number of people waiting the service was quick and the staff are friendly. Price also very reasonable for Cod and Chips.

If you are living, visiting, or just plain holidaying in or around Newquay, please please please get yourselves down to Chester road, and get a portion of the absolute best ever fish and chips you will ever have. No lies, it is the ultimate in chippies, and i've had them all over this, and other countries. It knocks the socks of anything you will have ever had before, i can't believe how awesome this place is. Be prepared to Que, because it's secret is getting around. I'd Que for hours for the taste and quality of the products from here. It is, without doubt, the best you will ever have. Oh, and portion sizes are totally humongous as well! I have had to choose a date to put below of when i visited here, i've put the latest available because i'm lucky enough to live in Newquay, and would NEVER go anywhere else for a fish supper!

Used this Chip shop both when I lived here and when down on holiday since. By far the best in Newquay and the one used by the Locals. Chips fried in Beef Dripping and well cooked. Fish always fresh and the batter is amazing. Good sized portions. Have tried all of the chip shops in Newquay over the years and not one comes close to hear! You get what you pay for here both in terms of quality and quantity whereas in the town you don't. Highly recommend and would never go anywhere else.

Best Fish & Chip Shop: fresh fish, large portions, and friendly service. This is a very busy take-out place, which wasn't a surprise after we tasted the food. They fry in beef drippings, which is clearly advertised, so no vegetarian option. Other fair is also available, but when by the sea, fish & chips is a must. Tip: have cash available as the night we visited, the card reader was not working and it was cash only. There is no place to sit inside the shop other than to wait for your food, so we drove a couple of miles into Newquay and ate by the sea.

Had the best fish and chips today. Was asked if I would like the fish wrapped separately and what a difference that makes, no soggy batter, fantastic.

One thing is for vertain after going to Francines you will not feel hungry. I am a regular and a fan, very large portions beautiful white fish, the battered plaice which I have regularly are always large thick fillets. The staff are very efficient and you can phone your order ahead if you wish, this is recommended as they arebalways qued out of the door. Highly recommend

There's not a lot to say about a fish & chip shop other than I have never had a mediocre bit of battered cod from here. It is always succulent and tasty. Heaven knows what they do to it, but it is so full of flavour, every time.If I happen to be in the vicinity I often try to time my departure so as to leave with a piece of cod.I've probably had better chips, but they're perfectly OK, I'm just being uber fussy here. and I never have the chips nowadays ... simply because the standard battered cod is so filling, I wouldn't be able to eat more than half a dozen chips, if that ... so there's no point.The service is great and they work fast.There's a good reason why this place is mobbed on a Friday teatime.
