Terrible. Don’t go. Why? Because it’s never been open when I’ve been! Just walked out there today with my daughter, and we hoped to have lunch and drinks. But it was shut, despite stating it’s open on a Tuesday from noon. This is the THIRD time I’ve been (all different days and times) and it was shut each time. I’ve checked the website and socials and there’s no indication they’re shut. Terrible service for such a remote pub.

We have been to the fox for years under the old management (Terry) and have always been welcomed. However today I was taken a back by the rudest man. We arrived for the annual Boxing Day morris men gathering, albeit 4 minutes before 11am. I needed the loo, there was 2 men by a table near the door. I asked politely if I was allowed to use to loo and to my surprise the man said “ no you can not, we are not open yet” he then closed the door. It took me a minute to see if he was joking but clearly he wasn’t. I am appalled at such bad customer service. We were meeting 8 of our friends there, we have now all gone somewhere else.

Good and reasonably priced meal at a traditional pub. Went on a Sunday, they only have one menu, no Sunday lunch and dont expect gourmet food but if you are happy with bar food, with good portions and great service then this fits the bill. My husband had the fishfinger bap, chips and salad, I had the scampi and chips. Lovely chocolate pudding and ice cream for afters.

We called at The Fox Inn after a lovely walk. We were ready for a drink and a bite to eat. The bar lady was lovely and friendly and helpful. We were very pleased with the choice of food on the Menu and she even made some sausages for our dog. I had the fish finger barm which came with chips and salad and my partner had the fish pie which also came with chips and salad, both were delicious😋

We tried to visit the Fox Inn for early evening drinks whilst staying at a local caravan park. Despite checking both their website and Google for opening hours, which both stated the pub was open, it wad closed on two occasions. We tried phoning them, but no one answered. There were clearly people in the living quarters as windows were wide open. We were totally ignored when trying to alert someone's attention. I hope they won't be complaining if they are forced to close down due to poor customer service.

Went in here for the first time and I enjoyed my time there. They have sky for the football the food was fantastic and they landlady was very warm and a great host. This pub is very popular with hill walkers and gets a lot of passing trade. You feel like you’ve gone back in time once inside as you can see by my photos and everything works perfectly. The food is good honest pub food cooked to a high quality and standard and it’s all prepared by the landlady. In one of my photos is a list of all the landlords since the pub has been open and the current landlord is the longest serving host. Bit difficult to find if you don’t know the location but get a taxi and you won’t have a problem. Please try this place out and have a traditional pint of real ale and some great food.

Had a fantastic meal at the Fox this weekend (as usual!) with four friends. I've been coming here for many years now, and it was great to return since it has reopened. I was very impressed with the safety measures they have in place, without spoiling the special atmosphere it has. The fish finger butty I had with chips and salad was delicious, and at a reasonable price at £8.00. My friends also thoroughly enjoyed their meal and drinks too. Staff were very friendly and helpful, I would definitely recommend this pub, the best in the local area in my opinion!

The Fox Inn pub is one of Derbyshire's best kept secrets that's tucked away in a peaceful little hamlet called Brookbottom just outside of New Mills. Entering the pub is like stepping back in time with its old-school decor; horse brasses lining the walls; and a jukebox that only plays 45s; and a charmingly grumpy landlord. Good selection of drinks too and the food is great and very reasonably priced and surrounded by beautiful scenery. We like everything about this pub and always look forward to revisiting the place. Hopefully it will survive the coronavirus lockdown.

What a fantastic idea! 200+ people running from Marple to the Fox Inn at Brookbottom with beer/gin stops on the way and plenty more at the end. There was a great party atmosphere, and good beer. How country pubs aught to be. Hope for more events like this. It's pretty good on a normal day too, always very welcoming.

Impromptu drive to the Fox Inn after seeing someone recommend it on Facebook. Be warned that the directions on fb will take you to Sainsbury's so.ensure you use a sat nav. Situated down the end of a country road and with not much around it, it's a real traditional pub. Yes it's a bit dated but that adds to it's utter charm. The menu had lots of variety and choice and reasonably priced. When it arrived the portions were great and the good very tasty. It's definately worth a visit if in the area and looking for traditional ale and lovely ambience.

A must visit pub. It's cash only but not expensive. Great food at great prices makes us walk there just for that. No seriously it's a fab pub in a lovely little hamlet with great views on the way there and back and definite must do and hidden away you would t pass it in a car but you can get to it by car. This could be a locals pub, but it seems lots of walkers have found it too. It's definitely not a pub you'd drive past, It's located at the end of a long escarpment leading only to the hamlet. Lovely beers, had to taste them all. And repeat a few days after. Had one early evening meal, very nice. Yes it is a bit tired, but rather that than a trendy gastro / bistro watsit! Smashing terrace for a nice day. The landlords / staff, well they are like lots of us, changeable.

A quaint old fashioned public house nestled at the bottom of a hill near new mills. When we visited, the pub was empty but still full of atmosphere due to the great choice of music being piped into the pub, the warn fire and the brasses on the ceiling. I couldn`t imagine having a night at this quaint old fashioned pub as it is lovely inside and tastefully decorated with memorabilia but the seating is so uncomfortable and cramped, the wall seating is almost the same as church pews and the chairs are narrow and small. However, the beer was good and they have a cask ale specially brewed for that pub (Fox Ale) which was tasty and had a citrus taste. It is set in a picturesque hamlet about a mile walk from New Mills and over some beautiful countryside with fantastic views.I would visit again on a warm sunny day and sit outside but not indoors again. The have a comprehensive menu and although I didn`t try the food I observed a meal being served and it looked wholesome and good value with good sized portions, but the smell of old cooking fat as you enter would put me off ordering a meal.

Have not been for some time, but well known walkers pub so decided a revisit was due. Food is keenly priced ( c 6.50 mains) - standard pub food but on our trip was very variable in quality ranging from poor to good. Main issue was ingredient quality but also some inconsistency in preparation with the same plate containing some excellent hot chips, lukewarm veg & aged chewy fish. However my companions salad was attractive & tasty. Portion size good, beer excellent. Overall food does not compare well with other local walkers pubs

Superb position but sadly lacking in sooo many areas. This could be a real gem but if it were on a high street it would have gone the same way as so many other pubs and be shuttered up.The mixer bottles are sat on a shelf un-chilled, there is no facility to pay on card, prices are Manchester City centre levels and the surroundings are beyond "character" and are merely tired, the worst of all being the toilets which are very poor.

We visited The Fox a couple of weeks ago on our visit to the Stockport area. We enjoyed our evening sitting in the sun shine. Our laundry is testament to our visit - my husbands shorts and my navy blue trousers are ruined; yellow paint from the bench seating is engrained like zebra stripes across the back. Having tried several means of removing the marks they won't budge. I hope the paint has dried as effectively on the benches.
