Fox and Hounds in Wiltshire

The staff are wonderful they put on an amazing spread for our after funeral tea. 5 star food delicious. Thank you it made our sad day so much better coming back to your hospitality.

We went for a meal and to watch a football game. We asked the staff if we could order some food, and we were told we couldn't order food even though the kitchen was open. We were told to come back in 20 minutes. We went back, but were told to come back later, 10 minutes later, we were informed we couldn't place an order as there was a queue for food. Eventually, 45 minutes after arriving, a lady took our order. Is the chef incapable of having more than one ticket in the kitchen? Ridiculous! The burgers were large but overcooked. The local clientele are not welcoming and stare like you're an alien. Overall, it is a small pub where you can't order food.

Thank you to Jamie and all the staff for making us feel so at home. Food great had 2x dinners and went in a few times for drinks and2 get the local crack with everybody. We lived just across the road from the Fox and Hounds our B&B was very handy. We visited for a week.

The Food is really good and fantastic price, this is our local and it’s a good idea to pre book especially if it’s for a special occasion meal. Also had my hubby’s 50th Meal in here recently and had 20 people invited. They set up the tables as I had asked and put out the table clothes, napkins and table confetti balloons etc as I wanted it looked lovely and everyone was happy with their food😀. Highly recommend.

Proper family pub, great atmosphere food.

The service was appalling, we are not locals and clearly not treated equally. We arrived ordered some drinks and asked for a menu, at the time i asked whether we should order at the bar or some one would come over. I was assured someone would come to the table, we waited and waited (only 2 of us) I went to the bar again assured someone would come to take our order. Same thing went to the bar asked again a third time except this time they refused to take my order for a further 20 minutes when I asked why they said they were not allowed to! About 1 hour 15 mins into arrival we were finally ‘allowed’ to make our order! Some locals arriving 20-30 mins after us were allowed to order much sooner and served their meal well ahead of us! If I had known this from the outset I would have walked away on arrival. Please be honest with customers do not lead them on and treat visitors to your area as equals to your locals. I will say when the food arrived it was very nice and large portions but the experience had already been ruined.

Enjoyed a pint of cider and plate of fish and chips. Bartender was friendly, and the food was fairly priced. Good atmosphere, with a TV.

Called into this welcoming pub on Sunday 25th February 2024 - as part of a local walk (and the pub down the road had a power cut) plenty of seating in the room - it was drinks only - great and friendly atmosphere

Made to feel really welcome..... Food was amazing and great price... Dogs are welcome.... Would recommend to anyone in the area to try.....

Food was Shocking, Stake was Tuff as the sole of my boot. The rest was Warm, like it had been given back to them by another customer.

Sunday roast was very reasonably priced and a decent portion. The pork belly was pretty over cooked though and the bar staff are pretty slow.

This is a lovely warm welcoming pub the staff here were very acomidating to us when we turned up for food about half an hour before they stopped serving.....very reasonable price delicious grub....we then had dinner in here the next nite too as we were staying in an air bnb on silver Rd, 5mins walk and we were at the Pub😁👍

Popped in for a drink whilst in the area. Nice pub with a good range of drinks. We did try and get food however there wasn't any didn't. It was mother's Day and we didn't book so I can't really fault them for that one! Would visit again and give the food a try next time I'm in the area.

what a brilliant old fashioned proper pub. our Sunday lunch was perfect and such a bargain, only nine pounds fifty for a perfect Sunday lunch. huge portion of tender belly pork with perfect crackling, perfect homemade roast potatoes and parsnips, Yorkshire pud and extra bowl of perfectly cooked fresh veggies.

Very nice pub. It was quite busy when we went so I'd recommend arriving early or booking on a Sunday. The bar staff were very friendly.

Good pub food and friendly staff at reasonable prices!

I've come to the Fox and Hounds in Colerne a handful of times, always a pleasant stop. Good clean lager (Stella or Kronenbourg 1664), friendly staff and patrons. They've a couple of TV screens and show most sports, be that football, rugby or even the Grand Prix. They serve food but I've not tasted any, but looks great. I visited on a Saturday lunch time and the pub was moderately busy with a full room of customers sat down for eating and then some regulars at the bar. There is parking here, even for a van, there is no on street parking nearby.

Very friendly locals and staff. We had takeaway food which was delicious.

Great pub, lovely home cook food, dog friendly, couldn’t have made us feel more well, we had a couple of meals in the evening, all round, excellent. Will recommend.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch with my extended family. Great choice of food and beer. Beautiful village setting and beer garden (if the weather was better).

The first English pub I ever visited on my first trip to England. Although I subsequently visited many more, this place is still my favorite and I remember it fondly. The food is much better than average pub fare and highly recommended. The beer selection is typical but they have a better selection of local varieties. The regulars were very welcoming and made me feel like one of them, which is the greatest compliment I can give. I hope to make it back here one day.

The fish and chips are absolutely amazing

Food and staff are amazing. Compliments to the chef.we had been in the area cycling for a few days. Sat in the beer garden and ate in the evening sunshine. Fully recommend this place. Price was extremely good for the style and food.

Fantastic Dog friendly pub in this beautiful little village, great prices for food very reasonable with plenty to go at. The bar staff couldn't be more welcoming and we can't wait to eat here again in the future.

Small town pub but it was fine. Food well priced for what it is. Local pub feel and the barman was friendly. No frills but ok.

Amazing breakfast and value for money

I can cut any pub or restaurant a bit of slack serving food on a bank holiday Monday with very low staff numbers, so the slow service I can ignore (though why the young waitress walked empty handed past our table on a couple of occasions and didn’t take our dirty plates is a mystery). What I cannot excuse is the passive aggressive surliness of the bar staff who seemed to take a dislike to us, either because we were out of town or because we asked if they had decaffeinated coffee. The food was OK and the pub itself has charm in a lovely village.

A magical little village local , no nonsense pub grub in a nice little garden , nothing was too much trouble for them , special mention to the friendly barmaid who made us feel so welcome .

Old time village pub with welcoming staff. Pub grub was of reasonable standard and price. Good pint of Guinness.

We were a large group in the skittle alley and the food looked good but on average the chips were inedible.....luke warm,and majority were rock hard.It also took ages to be served,by which time we were so hungry we all tucked in

What a village pub should be, very busy with locals and a friendly atmosphere , small bar area with a good selection of drinks and live sports on TV. Went for celebratory meal and the food was excellent quality and quantity at very reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and accommodating. There is a specials board and daily offers. Would definitely advise booking at weekends, and have no hesitation in recommending .

Just called in for quick drink. Pretty little garden on a hot day. Not sure about food? Pleasant staff.

We were 3 adults and 2 young children, service was swift, the menu varied. The food was good and the bill minimal. What’s not to like!

Booked for a birthday meal of 9 friends. No welcome, hello or acknowledgment from staff. Bar man Andy was really rude and unhelpful with our drinks. Service poor and exceptionally slow. Table staff not aware of what was included with meals and didn't offer any condiments, steak knives or checking back or even bringing our bill - standard service behaviour. Food however was worth the wait - big portions and delicious! No excuses - shame it's the only pub open in the village at the moment.

We’ve just enjoyed a lovely anniversary weekend for my parents with the catering supplied by the team at the Fox and Hounds. The service and food has been faultless. We had fish and chips for 18 served in the restaurant on Friday, followed by a buffet in the function room yesterday (Saturday) and a cooked brunch this morning. The portions were generous and the food good quality. The cold buffet in particular was exceptional and the catering for vegetarians really good. The team are friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Can highly recommend this as a venue for a family celebration!

Saturday early evening reservation. Food was delivered in good time, decent menu, lots of fish on the specials board (maybe because Friday night was “fish night”?).In general the meals were good. Not expensive.Real ales were well kept, large selection of gins with premium tonics.A tired old village pub that’s worth a visit.

local pubs can be daunting as you never know what the atmosphere will be like but this is a lovely pub with friendly staff😀

We are staying across the road and as I have limited mobility at the moment we walked over for dinner.The staff were lovely and friendly it’s a quaint little pub. We ordered main courses and when they brought it to the table it was huge. Two of us had chicken burgers, they had 2 fillets of breaded chicken, bacon and cheese, there was a mountain of salad and chips, my friend had 1/2 chicken with a ton of sweet potato chips. Not only was it huge but very well cooked and delicious. The price was very reasonable considering the quality, if you are in the area try it if you like good food service and are very hungry.

Walked in at 12:30 on a Saturday lunch and the place was over 1/2 full, with what looked like regular locals. The menu is simple with a reasonable choice. The food Is delicious, generous portions and well presented. No wonder the place was busy.

Friendly staff and punters. Parking was awkward as they had film crews taking up the car park when I visited, but I assume this is not a normal thing. However the food was very good and the portion size was very generous. I had a burger and it was superb.

Managed to book a table at 830 when we called at 6. It was busy when we arrived, but the sectioned off restaurant room dampened the noise. Service was attentive even though you could tell the staff were being put through their paces. Would definitely return.

The Fox and Hounds is a local pub with a great staff and good food. This is a good spot to catch a football game or just have a couple pints and relax.

We went to pay our respects to Great Uncle Wilbur’s crew who are buried in the church. Being lunch we looked in the other pub which has a higher rating and quickly moved on to the Fox and Hounds. Great pub, what a find, proper old fashioned pub with a beer named after one of the ex regulars. Food is great value and cooked perfectly pub curry described the vast plate that arrived, ham, eggs and chips, all day breakfast and gammon all well presented. Go hungry, very hungry!

Got this Fox and Hounds mixed up with the one at Farleigh Wick. Lovely, characterful country pub. Cosy with good beer and cider selection.

Great food, warm welcome and good atmosphere in this pub, good clean lines so a good pint as always. Friendly chatty staff and a big safe garden for the kids/dogs to run around in. Also ample parking.

We visited Colerne (after discovering my ancestors hailed from there) and happened upon this ancient pub and decided to stop for lunch. Wow! The meals we had were amazing ! At just £5 each we expected dinky little portions - instead we were served mountains of delicious, hot, proper home cooked food ! Absolutely incredible value for money. My portion of curry was delicious and surely big enough to feed two ! The service was lovely, warm and welcoming. Thank you Fox and Hounds - great hospitality! We will be back !

Appalling slow food service ... place was dead and still waited 43mins to be asked what we'd like to order. Beef burger tasted lIke it been stored next to dead meat. Alcohol menu is bleak, I'd suggest going to local shop and eating in your room where ever your staying.

Today we visited the fox and hounds. After pondering about where to go, twas a birthday lunch for two octogenarians who can be a little fussy, we decided on here. After reading the reviews we were expecting a local pub with great food and we weren't disappointed. The welcome was warm and friendly, the beer clear and very tasty and the food was delicious. The prices were amazing....you get a lot of food for the price you pay and all well presented. Unfortunately we had to drive home and we had the older generation in tow otherwise I could have stayed here all afternoon. Will definitely be returning!!. Oh and also dog friendly
