Pretty place. Wait staff in the pub/restaurant weren't interested in welcoming us into the space or discussing their menu. So we moved on.

Food was good and portion sizes were generous but the taste was pretty bland (not sure if this is the case for most British restaurants in general though). Also the doors were always opened so flies and bees kept swinging by.

Hotel: 5 stars ~ Pub: 3 stars Hotel: Super cute place to stay. Right in the heart of the village. Comfy beds. Seriously slept the best here out of my whole trip. Clean rooms. Deep tub. Nice staff. Lovely amenities in the room. Going for breakfast was awesome! The full English breakfast wasn't the best but I really enjoyed the fritters with creme fraiche. Overall, I'm so glad we stayed here on our trip! The village is so wonderful to explore when there are less people and also really cool to explore at night. Pub: Expensive and lackluster. Our dishes were 25-30 pounds which is equivalent to $35-40 US dollars. The food was ok. A little dry and average flavor. I expect better at that price point. They are extremely small portions. Like so little that you're still hungry. You have to order more than one course to get full. Which wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't so expensive. Paying 53 pounds, equivalent to $72 USD, for ONLY two main course plates is wild to me. No drinks, no appetizers, no dessert. Small portion of average food for over $70? Not worth it. I wish I had just ordered the fish and chips my friend ordered. It was actually really good and huge! That was the only thing I thought was worth the money.

The best restaurant in the cotswolds. Of all the places we have eaten in the Cotswolds, and we have not repeated a single restaurant or location in 6 days, this has been the best. At a reasonable price for the area. And the treatment has also been special, very good people, very friendly, and special affection towards our baby. As for the place, like almost everything in the Cotswolds, amazing. Venison carpaccio, and a spectacular dish of potatoes, wild mushrooms and others that I don't remember the name but it was exquisite. The dessert was a delicious chocolate with caramel and ice cream.

I'm reviewing the Castle as a restaurant, not a hotel, but Google is trying to suggest that course of action to me! I was there last night on a Monday in half term, so presumably a busy time. They coped fine, with good friendly service, and some really good food. My wife had a fish main which she said was an excellent bit of fish. I had the cauliflower main with spices which was fantastic, still raving about it now! My son loved his macaroni cheese from the kids' menu so the venue was thumbs up all round. Then, it's a stunning location, and really quite beautifully presented so all in all, well worth a visit. Our second time here and no drop in standard visible at all. Not cheap, but had a meal just now that cost less than half that this restaurant charged but still not a bargain because it just wasn't good. If you like interesting well cooked food, you'll be fine here.

? Has anyone suffered different treatment at this Pub ? a bad customer service At very bad customer service Firstly a very crowed, disorganized reception area. A lady in Blue top And black jeans (Manager of the pub) when we were waiting with other customers asks who is first to arrive, I said a I just arrived so she gave table to other family waiting before me. (No issue but what a greeting: I would say welcome everyone may I please know who has been waiting longer?) Then i asked how long the wait for table, she said she can’t tell me time (didn’t offer if you would like to wait) . I said happy to wait. She said can you wait outside (no please used just an order) ? I said can you write my name on waiting she said we don’t but you wait and I will call you. This was14:00hrs. I patiently waited outside holding door I saw few more customers were given table in between. (See blue marking of unreserved table given while I waited on booking picture attached- I can confirm there were no personal details just name bu I have still hidden it) So when there were four more customers went In at 14:15. I went in two and a bold headed waiter offered them a table. I intervened him to say can you speak to lady in blue as I am waiting for 15 mins and it’s unfair to give a table to walk in customer. He was so rude and said I am serving this customer so offering table to them. Don’t care about you. That point I realized the way I was greeted first and refused table despite waiting as advised was something to do with the way I looked or where I come from? Ofcorse they dined me the table but horrible, horrible customer service. Please anyone has faced this at this venue? A good pub should have 1: a nice reception for waiting customers 2: if you are not writing name of waiting customer outside restaurant then only one person should take customers. In my case next waiter takes customers despite I asked he didn’t bother. 3: I feel a manager first greeted me should have ensured I get next available place. I felt i was I treated differently because of my origin ? This spoiled our day trip to Castle Comb

We ate at the Castle inn and had a so so experience. My wife had the fish pie with winter vegetables and I had the potato rosti. Her pie she said was good but the carrots although tasty seemed to have not been thoroughly cleaned. She described them as " gritty". My dish was completely overcooked, the fried egg was rubbery and the rosti was so overcooked I struggled to cut it and eventually gave up leaving the meal unfinished. The pub itself is lovely. I only gave the service 4 stars because they were a little slow and no one checked to see if we were enjoying our meal after it had been delivered. We spent £47 on two main courses and one soft drink so this is not a cheap place. A disappointment.

Stayed in for the dine-bed & breakfast pack to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Was warmly welcomed upon arrival. Table service was excellent, everyone was attentive and very professional, food was hot & cooked to perfection. Service just seemed to flow and everyone serving was perfectly in sync with each other. We had a cocktail in the lounge after dinner which was quiet and cosy, just what we were hoping. For those wanting a little bit more entertainment, the Manor just across the road provides music and drinks. I would have suggested having the fire on in the dinning room next to the bar & lounge but not sure if they could be used. Fire was on by the entrance though. Room was warm, cosy and very well decorated, view was perfect and in general we had a comfortable night. Breakfast was served just as well as dinner but in their beautiful orangery/conservatory. Fresh local products and a mix of cooked breakfast with continental. Was a bit cold on arrival in there but coffee & food soon warmed us up. Walking out of the hotel takes you straight into the village to visit the beautiful scenery. Can't fault it at all and highly recommend it. Parking isn't easy but we parked up the road free of charge, just a couple of minutes of walking distance.

This is not a review about the pub as such. We had a drink there, but were staying at the Manor House. This is what you might call a 'protest review' and the reason? they DO NOT TAKE CASH!.. I would like to know what is wrong with cash! The smirking young barman who served me simply said 'it's not company policy'.. what a bland get out! I could understand that taking of cash was stopped during Covid for hygiene reasons. However many establishments have continued this policy because it is more convenient for them. If you analyse it.. it's just sheer laziness. They don't want to handle the notes or give change.. they don't want to use a till. It's just the opposite for the customer who will then have to see everything listed on their bank statement. Do these establishments care about this?.. of course not, they care about themselves My cash is as good as any card and if you refuse it shame on you!!

Lovely room. In the converted roof space, but watch out of you’re 6foot or taller headroom isn’t great. It makes up for it in character. Dog friendly hotel, beautifully restored. Restaurant and food are excellent. £20 for a juicy burger and beef dripping deep fried proper chips is reasonable for the location. Same for haddock and chips with flaky white fish and the crispiest batter I’ve ever seen. I’m afraid the breakfast is a bit of a sting. Not included in the nightly cost and £20pp. Worth it maybe if you’re a big eater planning to max out on cereals croissants yogurts fruit and the full English and extra sour dough toast. My photos are from the village and not the actual hotel. I’ve erased the scores of tourists to show you how Castle Combe may have looked when it was once a hidden gem !

The pub looked very pretty with beautiful hanging baskets, sat at the top of the beautiful main road in Castle Combe. When we opened the door to go in we were hit with the smell of fish. We only went in for a drink, my wife had a large glass of chardonnay and I had a bottle of low alcohol beer, I was horrified to be charged £17.20, (I took a big gulp and not of one of the drinks) I just thought we will only stay for one. I felt guilty when I saw other tourists ordering at the bar and not warning them of the prices.

This is the 3rd time we have eaten here in the past 12 months and we are never disappointed! The food is top notch and has an elevated quality that you do not expect from an Inn..such a treat ! This was not a restaurant! The room was cold and we both needed additional layers. The staff however were lovely. Food was mixed. My wife had fish and chips which she really enjoyed and I had monkfish which was hugely disappointing. The portion seemed large but was almost entirely bone! And no potatoes with it. I did complain and they knocked off £10 from the exorbitant £30. Also my wife wanted some bread with her starter and we were charged £5 for the privilege. Really not on. In summary, my wife had a lovely meal and mine was spoilt.
