Fox and Goose Inn Restaurant & Bar in Sedgemoor

Went Tuesday night all 4 of us had belly pork and it was outstanding. Homemade massive onion rings, belly pork that fell apart not too much bbq sauce. Service was great and the waitress told us it’s an agency chef - hopefully he stays there as the food was so good.

Went about 4 weeks ago, and it was amazing, parsnips carrots cauliflower cheese, today not so good, prices have gone up carrots hard, leeks hard, largest roast potatoes ever so dry and not cooked enough, no cauliflower cheese only as an extra at £4.50!!! I had recommend it to all my freinds but now I will tell them it was completely different, visited on Sunday 3rd November, very disappointed.

Have eaten here a couple of times. And the food is lovely, good quality and nice portion size. Nicely presented. Menu has a great choice plus specials. Warm friendly welcome. Will definatley be returning and would recommend a visit .

We arrived on a Sunday lunchtime, without having booked. Despite being very busy, the staff were very accommodating and found us a table. We both had the roast trio. It was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were warm, friendly and attentive. We would definitely return.

Ideal location for access to the Bristol airport. Staff were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and evening meal were reasonably priced and good quality. Room was spacious and very clean although slightly loud due to facing main road. Will definitely stay again 😊

Regular visitors to the area, but had never been here before, so thought we'd give it a try. Service very friendly and attentive, food (Chicken Skewers, Fishcakes) excellent. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

We were staying nearby in a cottage with our dog and it was our last day. We decided to go to the Fox and Goose for dinner, and were really happy that we did. We were made to feel really welcome, including our dog, who was offered a bowl of fresh water. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. My husband had belly pork and I had chicken skewers with a Greek salad. It really was the tastiest food I've had for a long time. We would definitely go again if we are in the area.

Stopped after a trek up Brent Knoll and weren’t disappointed! Attentive service, fab pint of Thatchers, and delicious food. And our dog was welcome.

Stayed here on business trip - can’t fault it really - new management has resolved the feeling of not being looked after - breakfast is flexible and dinner is acceptably good pub fair.

Four of us popped in for lunch, and throughly enjoyed our meal. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff, would highly recommend.

Excellent hotel and inn Recently renovated, this conveniently located hotel and restaurant is a revelation. The tasty food is freshly cooked and well presented,. The bedrooms have been furnished nicely with very comfortable beds and spotless bathrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Conveniently situated close to Junction 22 of the M5 on the A38 so easily accessible to locals and travellers alike. Plenty of parking front and back but suggest use front car park during wet weather. We dined on a quiet Thursday evening and were delighted by the quality of the food and service. We had cottage pie, salmon fillet and pork belly from the extensive menu. The food was cooked to order, hot and plentiful. Together with a bottle of wine and a pint of local real ale, the bill was a reasonable £82. This is definitely a cut above normal 'pub grub' and well worth a visit but advise booking in the summer months. Will definitely return.

Disappointed that a pot of hot water and a single tea bag cost me £3.50 (no milk, sugar or biscuit) whereas a cup of hot coffee (with milk, sugar and biscuit) only cost £2.50. When queried was told I could get two cups out of the pot. Then asked what a “cup of tea” would cost and was told that only pots are served

Had an lovely meal for my birthday, staff was very friendly and the food was amazing, I had crispy chicken burger but there was so much more choice on the menu and can’t wait to go back again.

This Inn is just down the road from where I live, didn't realise how nice it was. Went here a week before Xmas so the Xmas menu was available. If your vegetarian the nut roast was lovely. Lovely place to eat, food was excellent. Parsnip soup was extremely good as was the main, lovely desert, very nicely presented.Very reasonable price for a 3 course dinner. Would definitely go there again.

Last minute decision to stay over and wow what a stay Rory was impeccable the food amazing the room bigger than I have had before and beds super comfortable.Nothing was to difficult for Rory even my 2 pints of milk. Thank you Rory top notice service

We visited the Fox for a family birthday meal, and had the pleasure of trying the new menu. The food was wonderful, great choice of starters, mains and puddings. I had a salmon fillet main that came with the crispiest, most delicious skin I've ever had (not to everyone's taste perhaps but I loved it). It also came with a heavenly cider and mustard sauce that was beyond delicious. While I didn't have the steak, those who did absolutely loved them. Only criticism, but not something I'd dock a star for, was the size of the portions which were slightly large. After a starter and main, I was pretty stuffed but also really wanted to have pudding since everything else had been so good. I managed but suggest if you're eating there that you wear a slightly loose waistband! We also tried the seasonal cocktails and they were amazing; I do like a cocktail but have had some pretty bad experiences with some I've had from pubs. Not here, the fiery Old Fashioned was absolute perfection. Staff are really friendly, and the atmosphere was warm , relaxed and welcoming. This place is now a favorite for us, really pleased we chose it for a family birthday

All 3 ladies were friendly and full of smiles which appreciate. At the reception was a very warm welcome, also from the lady at the bar, the lady bringing our food was also lovely. Plenty of Thatchers and J20 flavours to choose from, a well stocked bar overall - ideal. Location vey handy on the A38 not far from M5, Burnham on sea, 3 touring/leisure parks, motorhome sales, supermarket and a garden centre. Lovely atmosphere, nice decor, some soft cosy lounging seats overlooking the bar, excellent choices on lunch menu. We chose bench seats in the window which were vey comfortable. Loved my vegan burger mostly lentils served with crispy fries. It was unique and very tasty I recommend it as it wasn’t spicy. It was my second choice as the bar lady wasn’t told that the Feel Good Super Bowl was not available o today. Hubby thought his chicken and ham pie was okay, he was expecting the cheesy mash to be separate instead of on top of the pie - he’s old fashioned. Clean place everywhere including ladies toilet. I would definitely go again when we are next in the area.

Booked via phone a couple of weeks ahead , got an immediate confirmation text. Apparently you can now book online. On arrival we were told our table was in the bar , I had requested a table in the restaurant , this was honoured happily. They were quite busy but plenty of staff. The menu has had a revamp which is great , could have had any of the starters but selected the baked Brie bites which came with salad and a dip, really nice. For mains we had roasts , the lamb was delicious , good quality and attractive presentation . It came with stuffing, a delicious gravy , parsnip and roast potatoes, in addition nicely cooked cabbage and the MOST cheesy cauliflower cheese …really good. The roast pork was also well received. (There were 3 roast options in beef) . For the sweet toothed in the party there was chocolate cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and a pear crumble. All presented beautifully. The quality was outstanding throughout and for four people 3 x two courses 1 x three courses and drinks came to £130. Service was efficient , only blip was a starter plate being removed before the other person having a starter had finished. Will definitely go back really enjoyed our lunch . Well done to everyone.

I booked through Booking.com for me,my aunt & my small dog. On arrival I was greeted by a very unfriendly lady....who said my booking didn't include my dog..It landed up that although I had booked my dog in on booking.com,I had to email the premises to confirm... when I said I hadn't realised that ,I was told to read the small print....really who does that. She said I'll make an exception & book you in a room although all our dog friendly rooms are full...so it will cost £20 extra! Later I asked if I could have some extra individual milks ,as my Aunt is 85 & likes her tea...I had tried to get some at the Petrol station nxt door ,it was closed! I was told there wasn't any,I asked if I could buy milk was refused. I later went out to a supermarket for some. For whatever reason the female staff member was so rude & unhelpful...to be honest she was downright spiteful ... No way that there was no milk on the premises! The nxt morning we saw the cleaning staffs trolley in the hall way....it had plenty of milk on it! The bathrooms are on need of work. Also the pub is directly on a busy road,so not ideal !

Despite only 8 other people in premises the service was slow. The price of non alcoholic drinks was double found in similar local establisments

Strange place, on arrival we were told that the key to the room would be in a box outside the door. This hotel was completely unmanned the entire time we were there. We managed to get into the room which was lovely and clean but very basic. The restaurant was closed, the bar was closed (this was 5pm) and when discussed on the phone we were told by the lady there was nowhere local to get something to eat as everywhere closes early on a Sunday. We drove 2 minutes down the road and came across 2 different pubs that were both serving food until late? The hotel itself was quiet however we were disturbed once by someone trying to get into our room who apparently couldn’t find the room he was staying in and again by a teenage boy that was screaming at his family whilst standing on the main road which is extremely busy. With there being no staff and it being an unfamiliar area we felt slightly uneasy. There is a car park to the Back of the hotel and also to the front however there was a barrier stopping us from parking our car at the front. Again, we felt uneasy parking our car around the back when our room was on the other side of the building. We then realised that one of the beds in the room was actually broken which wasn’t great at all. Upon checkout we told the lady behind the desk about this and she was extremely rude and defensive and argued that she didn’t know and if we would have rang the emergency number she would have moved us. I did explain that it was strange being in a hotel with absolutely 0 staff around and she argued with me telling me it’s not a hotel. I would have thought that they would want to know who is checking in etc as to be honest, anyone could have taken the room keys from the box and made their way inside. Very odd place and very rude woman who owns it. wouldn’t recommend.

Highlights of the fox and goose was that it's dog friendly and easy to dine at. We booked but they accept walk ins as well. The service was very standard. Staff were friendly when serving us. But a slight compliment would be that the place was missing in some atmosphere.(maybe we just came on a bad day) The food. Starting positively the gammon was succulent, salty; very good value. Chips accompanied with the meal were not quite to my liking, I found them dry. Peas and pineapple were delicious but the egg was was hard and not runny (a Shame when having gammon) My companions meal was disappointing im told. The chicken fajitas were very lacklustre, being rather flavourless and dry. And the wraps went cold quite quick. (They would have been better on a heated plate) For the starters, the cheesy garlic bread was supintious; being good value as well. The mushrooms were tasty also but less value than the garlic bread at 7.95 Overall a meal that did the job without being special

Needed an overnight stay near Burnham on Sea in our motorhome. The Fox and Goose was the perfect stay for us. Parked up in the rear car park, which is large and level. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff, Katie. We were welcomed to stay overnight and had a few drinks early evening, before booking a table for dinner. We had mains only - 6oz steak sizzler and the gammon with onion rings to share. It was all very good, although we waited a while, but we weren't in a rush, and you can't rush good food. We had a good night's sleep toilet, bonus! Lovely stay, would recommend. Thank you 😊

After passing this pubs while on holiday in brean for many years finally booked in for Sunday lunch with the wife and we were not disappointed from the perfect portion, the quality of the food and the overall satisfaction of the whole meal was simple amazing would defiantly recommend! no cheap pub grub here just a classy Sunday lunch awesome!

I have stayed here for work recently on 3 separate occasions.The rooms are spotless, the food is awesome and the service is warm and welcoming.In these covid times, everything is 1st class within guidelines and I feel so confident that this is a great environment.

Went for a lovely meal with my parents this evening. The whole place felt very Covid safe and had a lovely atmosphere.Me and mum had the burger and my dad had the ploughman's, all of us loved our food it was honestly amazing! We then had lovely brownies to finish. The staff were all working so hard (it was eat out to help out so definitely was very busy for them!) We felt very looked after by them all from start to finish. Well done guys, what a great team you all are.

If you are looking for good food outside of town then this is the place to be, it is presented well, not too long to cook, hot, well priced and ample portions.If that is all you are looking for then you will get value for money.As for the staff I can certainly thank the waitress for her efficiency given the circumstances, but there were only 4 tables of which 2 of them were my family( a 2 and a 3 seater ) There seemed to be a lot of running around by 4 members of staff, but not a lot was being done by 3 of them as our waitress was taking our orders, pouring and serving drinks, then bringing the food, we asked for salt 3 times as although there was a condiments section, there was only one salt pot which had damp salt in. Our poor waitress was looking after us as best as she could, but we were ignored by the other 3 ( managers ! ) All too busy trying to look busy if you know what I mean.However, although the place is well prepared for Covid 19 with direction signs etc, that's where it stops. The three stooges above certainly didn't observe any Covid rules, and the chef / cook came out to greet one of the mangers friends to introduce himself and plonked himself down right in front of their table. Thank goodness our meal was cooked and served to us already.One final point, if the 3 "others" wanted to do something then check the toilets, as my wife and I had to remind them that one had NO toilet roll and the other ( Mens) was down to its last few sheets on the roll.It will be interesting to see the replies and comments to this.

Lovely pub serving really delicious and well presented food. Due to Covid the menu is reduced which limits the choice especially if vegetarian but can’t fault the food that comes out the kitchen. Staff are attentive and helpful.The hotel rooms are large and spacious and the bed is super comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel is situated on a very busy road which woke us early and the room could do with some curtains to block out more of the light as well as the blind.Also a bottle of hand sanitizer in the room would be appreciated and maybe a shower screen instead of curtain would be more covid/ hygienic.All in all a very pleasant stay and suited our purpose as a stop over for a night.Would return if ever in the area.

Very slow service. Sat and nearly 45 mins passed before anyone came toTake our food order (we asked several times and one member of our party even went to the bar to order to be told sit and wait someone would come) food service slow. So slow that by the time it came to ordering dessert the kitchen had closed and we weren’t informed it was closing just told can’t have dessert! Shame, nice local venue with outdoor seating but staff and service let it down massively.

Came here for a meal with my husband in July whilst on holiday. Felt clean and safe- following Covid guidelines. Dog friendly.There was a power cut while we were there but staff kept up updated. This was nice place to eat before lockdown for good food! Firstly the menu was a small option - possibly understandable if they have no chef!! , but I expected more options that was given. There was 6 choices 3 being Beef , 1 fish, 1x Pork sausage , 1 choice for vegetarians- bing the Veg Pie! Don’t go to this restaurant if you are a Vegan - as there is no choice! The Fish was small and of a frozen type. Chips served were a child’s portion! I had Vegetable Pie, this was shop bought and of a poor quality ! It was Spicy veg - served with Mash , gravy, cabbage/ beans, very unusual mix !! The cost of the meals were high , but it was no more than a CAFE quality food ..... in a restaurant. The service was good , and young waitress was attentive and polite. I informed the waitress of my dissatisfaction and she said she would be informing her Manager - but she did not come and see me to discuss!! As I know she was at the Bar at the time!I did not expect money taken off the bill, but I need to let the Manager know not to expect Customers to pay restaurant prices for such more meals!! The food was highly disappointing that my mum & I received last Thursday night. I will not be visiting it again!

We went to visit post lockdown really needing someone else to cook. There is now a new look garden with the opening of The Tipsy Horse , a really brilliant idea. A converted horse box that acts as an out door bar, great for the nice weather , plenty of seating and good music. A really pleasant afternoon. We also booked a table for Sunday lunch, the social distancing measures are easy to follow and didn’t impact at all on the atmosphere. The roast beef was delicious and the staff all very efficient and attentive. Well done everyone it’s great to see you back up and running.

Just been to this restaurant .we have used it previously but as been revamped and new staff since our last visit .the food and service was excellent .had lasagne not had one this good in a restaurant locally for years will be going there again soon .well done guys .

Popped in here whilst on the way down the M5 rather than going to a service station. They accept dogs, which was a major draw for us. Great food and lovely staff. They have a resident golden lab who is a lovely dog. Warm and friendly environment.

Visited last Friday for dinner with a friend. Efficient and friendly greeting when booking by phone. We had a table in the restaurant which is really pleasant . Service was excellent throughout. Since our last visit the specials menu is now brought to the table, a nice touch would be to have this feature verbally as well, sometimes the enthusiasm for the specials can change your mind. The menu is much reduced but this is a good thing as everything was well prepared. The salmon and king prawn starter was fresh and plentiful, the mushroom starter could work equally well with plenty of tiny button mushrooms. Our main course steaks were delicious and cooked as requested, the Stilton sauce was just enough, but we could have shared a portion , being advised of that would have been a nice touch. Our friend had a Thai fish cake salad which was plentiful. The wine list is limited but offers a reasonable choice . It was a cold Friday night and the pub emptied fairly early but we were made welcome to have a post dinner drink-in the bar whilst waiting for our taxi. Good value overall and an enjoyable evening.

Lovely evening with family for my Daughter’s Birthday. Steaks burgers and Hunters Chicken all cooked and presented beautifully. Will definitely visit again

Whilst travelling through somerset we made a last minute decision to meet up with family at this pub today and I have to say the food and service was impeccable. Each course was absolutely delicious, good quality ingredients, beautifully cooked, well presented, we were very impressed. Staff service was brilliant. We will definitely come here again, highly recommend.

Had a great meal. Sirloin steak beautifully cooked followed by indulgent ice cream sundaes. Good service with a smile. 😁

Living locally for the last 20 years, we have been before and all has been OK and dependable. However, on this evening we had booked for four (booked that day) and on arriving it was obvious that they already had several large parties booked for pre Christmas celebrations. Consequently the service was slow and my food was disappointing. A cajun chicken burger cooked bone dry, the meat gone hard and my specifically requested mayonnaise inside (requested on ordering) overlooked. The waitress on being reminded that she had taken this on the order responded “the kitchen is too busy to cook special requests tonight!” I responded that why didn’t they tell us that when we had booked that day and we would have gone elsewhere?! In my opinion many of the waiting staff here are very young and whilst keen, lack the experience to deal with problems.I want to be fair so: 1. This was unusual - normally the experience is OK, 2. When I asked to see the manager the situation was dealt with efficiently and professionally and I was not charged for that dish, 3. I will go back but I feel the public should be aware that if there is an event or events going on when you arrive, turn around and go somewhere else for the evening.

Have eaten here multiple times over the years so it was an easy choice for my brothers surprise birthday party.The room we were given was very nice and ideal for us with children. The food was good but the service was very bad and disappointing on this special occasion.I understand that this is Xmas week, but we booked months ago so expected a little bit more care and attention. We ended up clearing our own plates out of the way because nobody came back for them.Disappointed.

We stop off for meal here whenever we’re in the area. The staff are always friendly and polite. The quality of the food is always good and great value for money.

Very friendly service and the food was great fresh, hot and delicious. Served in a nice clean surroundings.

Stayed over night on a trip to Cornwall just off the motorway M5 junction 22 /5 minutes drive when leaving motorway so very handy

Had a decent meal here in a comfortable pub with plenty of seating enjoyed my visit and a well cooked meal
