Foundry 34 in Eden

Four of us were here for a birthday meal. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful as one of our party needed a gluten / dairy free menu and this was supplied without any fuss. The food was delicious - we had mains and deserts, absolutely faultless and the cocktails were amazing Thank you for a lovely night, we will definitely be back .

Great place for a relaxing drink or meal, excellent service, fantastic food, refreshing, exciting, changing menu, Very reasonably priced. It is our place to go to together!

We booked a table for 7-15pm and arrived at 7pm they said they would let us in but could not take our order until 7-15 pm as they were taking orders from those people who were already there. Thought this was fair. However, we were then told that two big takeaway orders had come in and food might be a bit later. I was a bit put out by this as I had pre-booked the table. Fitter to this, they sat us on a table very near the door and there was a lot of coming and going through that door which allowed the cold weather in. I did move position on the table but it was still draughty and there was nowhere else to move to. Food eventually came about 50 mins later. The food was lovely - no complaints there! Just felt it was a shame that there was so much focus on the take aways when people had booked into the restaurant. I heard other people complain about the waiting time for food too.

We have visited Foundry 34 many times and they never fail to please. Service was friendly, polite and prompt. Food was excellent, my wife had Fish and Chips and I hade the pasta special, linguine in a creamy tomato and chorizo sauce topped with king prawns 🍤 both of our meals were beautiful. We will be back soon.

We were on holiday staying in Penrith town and had booked Four and Twenty restaurant. After being cancelled late in the day at Four and Twenty in Penrith, we met our friend here and boy are we glad we did! Friendly efficient service and great food. So some good did come out of the disappointment of the other restaurant cancelling! Will definitely go next time we're in Penrith.

We went for a birthday dinner with a larger group of friends. It was all flawless and easy to communicate with the venue. Food was all served hot, exactly as ordered and great quality. Staff were very lovely and helpful. Will definitely be back

Came across Foundry 34 on our last night in the Lakes. Having spent the day walking we wanted some proper food and we weren't disappointed! Both the main meal and dessert were spot on and the service was excellent.

We enjoyed our meal although a bit unprofessional . Food was nicely cooked the tables could of done with a better wipe as still had marks from previous diners

A fabulous meal with excellent food wich is great value for money in a pleasant atmosphere and with excellent attentive staff. We would Highly recommend. Also have live music which we didn't stay for but is a nice option for a night out.

Great find on our first night in Penrith. Gluten free options are specified in the menu. My husband loved his gluten free fish & chips as well as brownies with ice cream.

Passing on way home and dropped in and glad we did. Great restaurant with an amazing chef and the food was well presented and tasted with lots of flavours. The staff was very professional and spot on in attracting your eye to the specials that we had with dessert. I highly recommend a visit and will definitely try to get back some time. Very nice evening meal, followed by superb entertainment by Paul Day, never stopped from when he came on at 9 til after 11. Superb entertainment had the place bouncing.

We wrnt on a Sunday evening, only guests! Not clear how to get into the resting, we went to tbe back and through hotel rooms. Staff service good. Roast dinner large portion, could have being a bit hotter.Disappointed with Yorkshire pudding was a bit dry, nice portion of beef. Nice cocktail !

Great place, lovely and clean and friendly staff, food is excellent! The breakfast is massive and will certainly set you up for the day! Comfy bed, decent shower and in a great location in the town! I everything is just a short walk away so yeah! Great spot

We stayed at the Foundry for one night on our way South. The sharing plates were absolutely delicious and our breakfast also fabulous. The staff were also very helpful and friendly despite them winding down ready for a week's closure

Had pre-booked as the Penrith Winter Droving festival was on and the town was packed. Our party of 5 arrived a bit early but the staff accommodated us anyway. Food was great and plentiful, staff were excellent. Reasonable pricing and great atmosphere, would definitely recommend.

Table for four was booked on line no problem at all. Arrived on the night and couldn’t fault it. Service was great all staff wearing masks, polite and friendly. We visited between Christmas and New Year. The food, atmosphere and services were all excellent. We had a selection of starters and mains, followed by a Desertini which was an excellent spin on Espresso Martini’s with a shot of baileys and a brownie….excellent!

The food was excellent, ambience was light and fun, service prompt and attentive. I had fried breaded haloumi followed by sea bass. Both beautifully presented and delicious. (Only constructive comment I can make is that the haloumi portion didn’t need to be so big). My friend had a steak which he said was cooked as requested and very good.

The food was exceptional and the service was terrific. It was a great way to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. I can’t recommend this place more highly!

We were celebrating my wife's retirement and wanted to support a local business rather than a chain restaurant. We were made to feel very welcome from the start by the staff. Service was excellent and very polite. After ordering food we didn't have to wait long before our starters arrived, once finished we had a shirt wait for our main course which was just right. All our food was excellent and the service was top drawer. Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We booked 4 rooms for our family that had come up from Yorkshire for the annual winter Droving festival.All rooms where clean and ok size we had the family room as we have 2 small children. The family room is room 10 right next to the upstairs restaurant and at the top of the stairs from the bar and downstairs restaurant. So can get a little noisy. Also there is a fault with the TV that it won't turn on but if you unplug it and plug it back in it will work. We had a big double bed and there r 2 bunk beds for the kids witch mine loved and fought over the top bunk. It's not the best for elderly or people with poor mobility as there is no lift and a lot of stairs. To get to the other rooms. My only criticism and concern is that my partner has CELIAC AND STATED THIS ON BOOKING ARRIVAL AND THE MORNING OF BREAKFAST. When I asked what was gluten free I was told everything I said the blackpudding and hashbrowns wont be unless it's stated on the ingredients. The girl just looked at me I said please can you go ask your chef. She came back and said we think everything is. I said that's not good enough it needs to be or I'll be taking him to hospital later. We waited ages for a full English and when it arrived it was different to wat the rest of the family had so I think they whent out to buy it all. The standards for food allergies needs a massive improvement as not one thing is listed as GF it's good you have a vegetarian section but what about the people with serious intolerance that just can't have normal food through no fault of there own. So if you have them I'd say please ring a head to make them aware.

The pictures online don't add up to the actual quality of food served. The atmosphere was nice and was about the only thing going for this place. Would recommend avoiding the prawn starter unless you enjoy eating rubber and having your veg coated with salt.The Sunday roast dinner was unusually paired with mix match veg which in turn was contradictory to a "traditional Sunday roast". The burger was nice although the bacon wasn't far off from still walking. Didn't even stick around long enough to try out desert.Probably won't return but hey, give it a go, everyone's tastes are different

We were a group of 8 from Centre Parcs. We all had a lovely meal from a varied menu. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was first class and the price was reasonable. We all enjoyed our meal so much we booked for another night whilst we were there. We would all recommend going there.

I was catching up with friends. The menu had lots of variety and loved the small dish options. The food was delicious and tasty. I will definitely be returning.

Due to covid, the Centre Parcs dining offering is somewhat limited so we ventured out to Penrith. We booked in advance and had a great meal, good service, big portions and nice atmosphere.

Few problems here. First off, the menu, extremely limited. Dont like burgers? You'll struggle. Several things not available eg Sunday roast. Next problem, people having an extremely loud video call at their table close by. Asked the staff to tell them to end the call, but they didn't want to say anything. Eventually persuaded them to say something, and the call was ended. Thirdly, the burger was tasteless, the onion rings were tasteless and the pork rib was nauseating. Garlic mushroom starter was passable. Overall would never visit again and shocked they currently have such a high rating

This hotel has been recently fitted out to a good standard on the site of a former foundry. It shares its building with the best chippie in Penrith. Out room was spacious and modern and quiet considering the location. The bed was huge and comfortable. The restaurant/bar is downstairs with a shop-like glass window but a good atmosphere. The food was excellent and the breakfasts were huge. We enjoyed our stay and would have given it 5 stars except for the christening party that overstayed its welcome and relegated us to the rather dull upstairs dining room. The hotel does not have a car-park but there is ample on-street parking where you are limited to one hour free. Don't get there too early unless it's a Sunday

The breakfasts at Foundry 34 should be legendary. The full English should be called an overflowing English. All freshly cooked and top quality ingredients. We also ate dinner here and I have to say that the gluten free fish and chips was the best I've ever had. Even my husband ordered the same (he isn't gluten intolerant) and thought it was awesome.

So worth a visit. Wide range of menu, something for everyone . Prices more than reasonable. No one left hungry. Great service very family friendly. Would highly recommend. Especially as a large family with very fussy eaters. .

We had an evening meal on two occasions at this lovely restaurant and it was very good on both occasions. We had the cajun chicken kebabs and there was plenty of it, very good quality and at a very reasonable price. The place was clean and the staff were very friendly and efficient in their service. If we are in Penrith in future we would definitely eat here again, very good.

Chose the Cod Goujons as a starter, it was big enough to be a meal in itself. Followed by the turkey roast. The size of the roast was equally large, with loads of veg, new and roast potatoes and a big yorkshire pudding... Overall both the food and service excellent and the price was very reasonable.

Lovely small hotel in a great location in Penrith. Our double wasn't massive but was nicely decorated and very well appointed with Aircon, iron board, great shower, and tea/ biscuits.The twin room for the kids was much bigger. The breakfast was lovely too with a good choiceStaff were friendly and helpful at check in and breakfast.Only downside was that we had left the window open and we're woken by delivery trucks in the morning but when we shut the windows it cut out the noise, so if you are warm, put the Aircon on instead.

I had booked a table for some friends who were visiting the area so that we could have a catch up. I have been in the past and the service and food has always been excellent. However, I turned up to the restaurant to find the door locked and everything closed. I had made this booking online for this day and time, giving my card details to secure the booking and I had received a confirmation email for the booking. I had arrived at exactly 1pm (as stated in the confirmation email) and presumed that they were maybe a little slow to open, as the door was locked but there were some lights on. However, 5 minutes soon passed and no sign of anyone. I gave the restaurant a call and was told that the online booking system was having issues of accepting bookings even when the restaurant is actually closed. I was told that I should have had an email to confirm cancellation of the booking. I checked my emails and my junk inbox, NOTHING.I was advised of some other places I could try, but felt that this was just not good enough! I was told that the other bookings for the day had received, yet I still had received nothing - making it feel very much my fault.So if booking online… be advised that it may be wise to call in advance or you could be left stood stranded outside

This bistro was a nice little find after looking on the net for somewhere close to Center Parcs. The staff were very friendly and the food delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals, see photos.

Had good veggie options on the menu but unfortunately were out of stock of 2, so was forced to have the only other option but was still absolutely delicious. Halloumi sticks were to die for! Great service and staff. Up beat modern feel.

My friends and I ate here tonight following a recommendation via the Facebook Group Coeliacs Eat Out too. So yes, you've guessed it, I live with coeliac disease and must adhere to a gluten free diet. This is no fad, it's a lifeling requirement. I ordered the cheesy garlic mushrooms as a starter with GF bread. Amazing. My friends opted for fish goujons- huge portions.Then I opted for a flat iron steak. Omg one of the best steaks I've had, cooked medium rare to perfection. Served with lovely sweet potato fies, salad, a grilled flat mushroom and tomato. Just the best. Highly recommended.

Stayed two nights. Great location, great room (with air con), great staff, and great food. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The menu isn't huge, but there was enough choice for all 4 of us to order different meals during our 3 night stay. The food was of a high quality, well presented and tasted fresh and delicious.The drinks menu was extensive and we all enjoyed our time at Foundry 34.Service standards and all the staff were attentive and polite. We will definitely eat here again when we travel back to Penrith in the future.

When I go into a restaurant ,what makes it good for me , is can I do better myself. I'm sorry to say but yes I could. The drinks are reasonably priced. The food I'm afraid fell well short of their price tag. My so called steak burger ,I could have got frozen from a supermarket ,not much steak mince in there. My chip turned up cold. Which to be far they replaced. My desert again was clearly mass produced rubbish. If I want this type of food pay half the amount and go to Witherspoon's

What a find, a lovely bistro style restaurant serving one of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had and for an absolute bargain of 2 roasts for £18. The sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake were also very nice. The Atlantic pale ale and cocktails were also very good. We will definitely return.

My son and I stayed at foundry 34 on Friday 28th may in room 9. Check in was safe and easy. Staff were very friendly and our room was so comfortable and very very clean. Covid safety in place at all times. We had a lovely double room which I assume the rooms have been recently renovated to a very high standard. Huge shower in the bathroom and very tastefully decorated. The beds are very comfortable. Information for guests in the rooms and the breakfast was very good indeed. Somewhere I’ll definitely stay again. The only thing I will say is possibly turn the towel rail temp down as unfortunately I burnt my behind getting out the shower. It didn’t spoil my stay though

Just returned home from our stay at this hotel and restaurant, and what a gem. From first contact, the owners and staff are top class! Our room perfect for our stay, so close to everything in the centre of Penrith, clean comfortable and welcoming. Only one very small criticism, turn the dressing table mirror to portrait, and a light on dressing table for ladies would be better. But certainly didn't spoil our stay. The restaurant! I can honestly say it was the best steak I have had in years, and lots of it! credit to the chef! The breakfast was equally superb! The cocktails were spot on! Martini pornstars to be exact! All served by excellent staff! This Small hotel and restaurant is a family business, and they obviously take pride in their business, it shows! We will definitely be returning. A gem of a find! If you want a small family run hotel, without the long corridors and individual rooms central to Penrith look no further!
