Awful. Hair in food. The food looked completely bland and the Chicken chow mien had no flavour and was literally boiled chicken in plain noodles. Rice was suspicious. No flavour in the crispy chilly beef. Despite being hungry, all 4 of us left the food. Avoid it and save your money.

Without doubt the best Chinese takeaway in stalham, consistently good food. Friendly staff. Only disappointment is that they no longer have the eat in all you can eat option. That said it is the only one of three takeaways in Stalham that I will use.

Where to start. Food cooked fresh and well. But one problem...no flavour. Chicken chow mien, noodles and chicken boiled and not then stir fried in any flavouring. Chicken balls nice boy sauce bland. Crispy beef done well but bland sauce. Special fried rice with no flavouring. Spring rolls with lovely outside but just a slice of boiled chicken with a slice of carrot inside. Mussels in blac bean sauce.....SUPERB, oodles of flavour, perfectly cooked, lots of them and cheap! If you Ike bland food, you will love this place.

We stayed in Sea Palling and drove here for a take away. It was one of the nicest we've had in ages. It was SO tasty. I would recommend phoning your order through though as you might have to wait about half an hour as they were busy when we walked in. It was definitely worth the wait though and it was still piping hot by the time we drove back.

We used to go here a few years ago and eat at the restaurant when it specialized in Vietnamese dishes and was very good and authentic. Having recently moved to the area we thought we would try the takeaway as it is no longer a restaurant. Unfortunately it was plain awful. I ordered amongst other things Vietnamese chilli beef but I am afraid it was very plain and consisted of mostly over cooked onions and beef in a bland very under spiced gloopy sauce. The crab and sweet corn soup was bland and watery that tasted mainly of crab but without much crab meat in it and surprisingly even less sweet corn. The king prawn chow mein - prawns good but noodles over cooked and slimy and under spiced overall. Vegetable spring rolls - difficult to trace the vegetables. Pork satay - a lot of onions in a slimy under spiced sauce that was difficult to taste the peanuts that are normally an ingredient. Trying to be positive it has to said that portion size was very good for all dishes. The rice was tasty and well cooked. There was plenty of meat (shame about the quality though). Prawn crackers were OK. Oh and the man on the order desk was very polite and helpful and the meal was ready when he said. A sad day as the food several years ago was excellent.

Only plus was the young man taking the order, very pleasant

Staying locally at Ludham and really fancied a Chinese. On checking out Trip Advisor, we headed to Stalham to be greeted by 3 Chinese takeaways in a row. Unfortunately, we couldn't remember and now had no 3G to check which was the best! So, tried stopping folk on the street, none were local so we plumped for this one. Very nice chap taking orders, advised us it would be 35 mins. We ordered a good number of dishes and were pleasantly surprised it only came to £24! At home, it would have been £35++ for sure. Food arrived as promised and we were very impressed with the quality and the amount! It was all first class and really excellent value for money! If we lived here, it would most certainly be our Chinese of choice!

Visited this Chinese takeaway after looking on trip advisor whilst we were on a break away. Came up as #9 of 14 takeaways in the area. The food is pretty bad. The 1/4 duck was very fatty and the cucumber it came with was dry. The chicken chowmein was just noodles and chicken it had just flavour at all. The "crispy" shredded beef in chilli was neither crispy or spicy. Over all one of the worst Chinese takeaways I've had in a very long time and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone!

The food is very tasty and I was satisfied with my takeaway. However I wouldnt recommend eating in. The place is very run down looking and needs a bloomin' good clean and a coat of paint. Yes eating in has its perks that you can take your bottle of wine in for a corkage charge. TBH I'd rather pay a little extra to sit in a clean place and skip the alcohol! Wouldn't recommend but would grab a takeaway possibly.

If you are looking to dine with a difference then this is the place for you, make you to have your best glad rags on though. The restaurant lay out is great for people watching but be sure to book a table in advance in case there are ever multiple parties in there at once that fill up the vacant tables. The waitress was very sweet and friendly, can't fault her good service and nice nature, she even let us put our alcohol in the kitchen fridge because they don't have an alcohol licence. The long black oriental hair in the noodles added a twist of fun to the occasion and certainly gave us some evening entertainment. A take out good enough to for take me out. No likey, no lighty.

All you can eat for £12 per head normally means cheap help yourself food that has been sitting around for a while, NOT here each dish is prepared for you by a very happy smiling chef owner and served by a polite and helpful young lady. You order as you go and each dish was good the duck as mentioned exceptional and the two beef dishes outstanding. Oh and by the way the ribs and chicken balls were some of the best we have had. Take all of this coupled with the fact that you can take you own drink a fab night out. As some have said the environment is a little 'local' much like eating in a real chinese street food cafe in hong kong I would say - but he is in the process of redecorating. We paid as much per head as a posh place would charge for a single main course and we had a great time with great friends. PS try the deep fried bananas a small price extra but with icecream if you have room ymmmmy

We enjoyed the food. It wasn't the best chinese I ever had but it definitely was good. It's always a good sign when the locals come in for their take away - especially if there is another one right next door... The value was good to. All you can eat for £12 including Duck but excluding desserts and drinks. But the decor really lets it down. I had read about this here on other reviews but didn't quite realise how bad it was. And it does really make a difference to the dining experience. The "restaurant" is basically a take away with some greasy spoon type tables and chairs thrown in. All in all good food but take away would probably be better as you can eat in comfort!

Great food and cheap, in a very unlikely setting. Don't discount the place by it's decor, or its very solemn owner. Will willing provide glasses for the wine or beer that you take with you, as he does not hold a license to sell alcohol. Small corkage charge, but he does sell soft drinks if you prefer. We tried this restaurant for the first time on 18th Jan. 2014, having read the other reviews here. Consequently there was no disappointment about the decor. In fact, the fresh pale blue painted with white woodwork in this old (Georgian?) room was better than I'd anticipated. The food was very good indeed. I would characterise it as excellent 'home-cooking', by which I mean that it did not have the finesse in terms of presentation as a trained chef might utilise but it was nicely presented all the same. It was very fresh. The fried squid starter was delicious and prettily served with a tasty garnish of garlic, fresh chill and spring onion. All the other dishes we tried were either good or excellent. The service by a charming young woman was very attentive too. The whole experience was authentic. I have eaten in similar restaurants in Vietnam, where the quality of food is very high but the decor poor by Western standards. I imagine that it is the same in much of China. We will definitely go back!

If lavish décor is a must for your enjoyment, then Fortune House is not for you. Don't go there and then slag it off on Trip Advisor. It's easy to see from the street that it is not the Ritz. That said, if you are hungry, on a dark December night, and the other hostelries in Stalham are closed, do venture in, and you will enjoy a feast for very little money. Our party consisted of four adults, a six year old and a two year old toddler for whom a clean highchair was swiftly provided. We chose an array of dishes including duck, beef and prawns. These did not seem to be prepared to a formula, but each had an individual flavour, nuanced and delicious. We had not gone for the all you can eat menu but the table was covered with dishes, also including noodles, prawn crackers, pancakes and rice. We were completely stuffed at the end of the meal, and all for about thirty seven pounds. Amazing value!

This little Chinese restaurant has a few tables inside so that they can serve you a sit down meal. No license, but you can bring your own (there is a supermarket down the street). The food was very good standard, better than in many takeaways. No MSG was used as far as I could tell, which is a pleasant change. We didn't expect it to be "smart" and it wasn't, but it was nice food, prepared quickly at a good price.
