Gracias.

From the moment we arrived for a Mothering Sunday family get together ‘The Manager’ deemed it appropriate to make sarcastic comments to our table ultimately resulting in accusing a younger guest of something he didn’t do - extremely unprofessional behaviour. The food was mediocre with small portions and we waited an age for more gravy and veg to arrive, the hot deserts were also cold - will not be returning - the other staff serving were friendly and accommodating pity the same couldn’t be said for the Manager - he does not deserve any customers!

Firstly, I think the good reviews must have been from when it was Ben's Kitchen. I can honestly say this was appalling, I paid £20 for a lamb roast, the Yorkshire pudding needed a steak knife to cut it, the lamb was very fatty, hard crispy bits on it and took effort to cut. Gravy was greasy, no mint sauce available, still waiting for the salt and pepper! Red wine served ice cold. 5 tables in there with people on, 4 tables complained. Never been so disappointed

Went before Christmas to the carvery and it was lovely, apart from children's size dinner plates. This time I asked for a larger plate and was told that is the only size! Veg was almost raw and could do with being a bit softer. The beef this time was rubbish. To be fair they were getting to the end of the joint but it was fatty and sinewy and should have not been served. They need sharper cutlery also because it wouldn't even cut this beef. Very disappointed this time so might not be going again for some time. Not worth the money on what they served and the cost.

Recently had our wedding breakfast and reception at Forest Hill on the 17th August and the food was amazing, service was spot on and the day went really smoothly (although there were some timing issues) We had such an amazing day and we cannot thank Forest Hill enough. We received compliments from everyone about how good our day was and that it was the best wedding they've been to. I hope the staff who helped us enjoyed the cake we left for them!

Maybe not the cheapest Sunday lunch around but the turkey dinner looked really nice. Can’t really say the same about the spinach and ricotta tortellini which was very bland and a bit stodgy. Mum had the cherry dessert which was just like something out of a tin., not great! Service is fine and a nice atmosphere.

A convenient venue for holding group meetings, as there is lots of space and parking. Meals are reasonably good too.

Excellent bar and chalkboard menu. Great value lunchtime specials like two meals for £10. Beatifully cooked and presented. Lovely conservatory restaurant overlooking the course and ponds. Highly recommended.

Had a great Sunday lunch here. Soup was lovely and tasty. Main course was excellent. Had the 3 meats and this was a very good portion. Yorkshire pudding was lovely and light. Too full to have a dessert unfortunately. Service was good and servers were friendly. Good value. It was a little cool as we were sat next to a door that goes into another room and the door would not seem to shut properly.

Great venue for a family celebration, friendly staff, good food (considering we were a party of 100). Particularly enjoyed the breaded Brie and the chocolate orange cheesecake. Unfortunately enjoyed too much San Miguel! Can also recommend Kirby taxis for pick up.

Very busy lunch service as there was a conference on who hadn't all pre-ordered their lunches. The kitchen must have been going crazy, but everything came out in a steady stream one after the other and all looked very good.I had ordered a cheese toasted sandwich which looked lovely on arrival except that the cheese hadn't melted at all, so I had to take quite a bit out otherwise it would have been too dry. A bit disappointing, but probably purely due to the enormous number of orders all arriving at the same time. The sandwich was tasty, the salad was lovely and fresh and it was served with a little pot of tortillas - a nice touch as they didn't get soggy being next to the rest of the dish.

We held my dads wake here on the 13th July and the service we received from Joanne the so called events manager was absolutely disgusting. We told her what we wanted when we went to visit her and see the room. We requested a laptop and projector with a screen to show a slideshow of pictures of my dad. When we were corresponding with her in the run up to the wake she was very slow with her replies to emails. After going through 100s of photos and scanning them all into the computer when we arrived on the day there was no projector or computer set up. When I asked someone about it they attempted to set it up and a screen was brought out then a laptop with low battery arrived. And a gentlemen who worked there said it won’t last long if you don’t find the cable to my husband. Why is it his responsibility to sort that out? A while later it still wasn’t done so a relative asked about it and was told they couldn’t find the projector. No apology was made and that was all that was said to us on the day. Obviously we were disappointed with this and didn’t feel that was good enough. So we sent her an email to express our upset and disappointment and were told it wasn’t done “as she hadn’t thought to get it out prior to our arrival” as it was only mentioned once. I didn’t think you should have to keep repeating what you have asked for surely this should’ve been noted down on the first visit. Her response to our complaint was unacceptable and we felt that she couldn’t of cared less. After a phone call to express again how unhappy we were she replied with “it slipped my mind”. We realise this is a small part of the day but it was very important to us to see these pictures and remember happy times with our Dad. If you are considering this venue for a family event I would look elsewhere as we don’t feel that customer service is important to the golf club or at least Joanne.

We had Sunday lunch at this restaurant and it was excellent. Meat was lovely and tender and there was a selection of roast beef, turkey or loin of pork or you can have all three if you cannot decide what to choose. Good selection of starters and deserts. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely setting overlooking the golf course.

This countryside golf club is welcoming to visitors and non members and has a pleasant bar, dining area and conservatory with some outside seating too. Usual kind of fare but a lot of homemade items especially desserts!

Rude member of staff, not everyone but she made me and my 8 year old nephew feel uncomfortable when ordering a hot chocolate we assumed it would come with cream and marshmallows (wasn’t asked when ordering) she just presented us with marshmallows so I asked her about the cream she then announced extremely loudly that we hadn’t paid for cream - poured the hot chocolate into a bigger cup which then dripped all down the sides and made us pay 50p extra for cream - the queue of customers were shocked that a mistake made on her part was made out to be our fault. We didn’t get the name of this lady but she had red hair. Unfortunately the hot chocolate spilt (luckily cold by this point) and my nephew asked me why she was smiling behind the till at this. A man helped us out and cleared up after us which was great however the barista behind the counter made us feel extremely uncomfortable - to the point where my nephew said as we left “that lady doesn’t seem very nice.” Not a great experience

The place looked like it hadn't seen a feather duster or a bottle of bleach for years. The tables and highchair were sticky. Look past this, though, and you will get a reasonable priced meal with a good helping of food. The place isn't pretentious. It is what it is. It's never going to be anything better, though. The staff seemed friendly enough, however they were sat on their phones for most of our visit.

Nice decor, lady who worked there was really friendly however we went for breakfast and they were only doing toasted bagels. Ended up leaving and going somewhere else...but it felt nice and welcoming. It did seem smaller inside than on the pictures but equally, it made it feel cosy.

I've not been in the Holywell for a while now, but O my word it's changed quite a bit. Live music playing and a big change in the interior of the pub. Would be happy to go in on a weekend and spend the evening there.
