Called this morning as local but not visited before. Met by a young chap with zero people skills, and I’d guess the proprietors sat in the window beside the doorway. Was told by lady in subdue that for cafe, go sit through there & order at counter. Menu says scones served warm which I hate, so asked for two not warned. I can see how earned is mention as they were as stale as! When cut, went to sheer crumbs. Coffee obvs from a push button machine and that’s fine, however we couldn’t drink them as tasted chemically. Just really unpleasant start to finish and with a tip on ordering I bless £15 lighter in pocket. When there’s local competition with pleasant service and quality bakes I’d maybe suggest a rethink if trying here.

Rude staff. Two ladies sat chatting at one of the tables as I walked in. I said hello and both chose to ignore my greeting. No one was in the shop or tearoom. The eldest of the ladies got up and started busying herself tidying stock. I stood at the counter to purchase tray bakes on offer. They both again chose to ignore me! What a shame as Ford is beautiful

Called in after a visit to Northumberland. Was my husbands birthday and we fancied a cake and cuppa. The cafe is dog friendly so we went inside. Not quite sure who or what had upset the hosts but whilst they weren’t rude to us specifically, we witnessed the lady in particular being short and curt with guests, particularly one lady who politely asked if they had forgotten about their order (which they clearly had!) No apology forthcoming, just a short response to say they would bring it straight out. The hot chocolate was nice, the cappuccino a bit tasteless. With customer service as it was, we probably wouldn’t return which is a shame as Ford itself is a lovely, quaint village worth visiting.

We visited for a 3 day break and booked the B & B at short notice and so glad that we did. Although the accomodation was small it couldn't be faulted. Jennifer & Graham were the perfect hosts, the room very clean, fantastic breakfast. The B & B was situated in the small estate of Ford which is very picturesque and peaceful and was perfect for our stay. Ideally located for visiting the sights of the Northumberland/Scottish border towns both on the coast and inland. Very highly recommended for a nice relaxing holiday break. Thank you Jennifer & Graham, I'm sure we will return.

We called in to Ford & Etal on our way to Coldstream and Duns during a week based nearby in Wooler. As it was early March the estates were quiet and the weather was changeable. We were happy to find that the post office and village shop also had a dog friendly tea room and so popped in for a cuppa. Ordering tea in a cafe can often be a bit of a lottery as so many places now put much more emphasis on providing a never ending array of coffees with ridiculous names. To my intrigue and delight I was presented with a glass pot of tea made with fresh leaves. It was quite simply the nicest 2 cups of tea ever. The shop stocks Brew Tea Co merchandise and I was tempted to make a purchase there and then, however the shop owner advised that the company has an excellent website and that a monthly subscription provides the tea via the post! On returning home I ordered a two person teapot, which arrived yesterday and is now my favourite 'new toy'

This is our 2nd visit and we were really looking forward to it after our visit last year. But this time was completely different. We were very understanding when we arrived as the owner was by himself so we weren’t bothered about the delay, then a lady started working as our lunch was being served she was rude didn’t speak and was very good at giving dirty looks. Our bill was reasonable as there were 7 of us but to be honest this place doesn’t deserve people eating with them with this level of customer service !!!!

We visited this cafe on Wednesday 11th May just before 1230. To be fair the food was excellent. My husband had a pulled pork panini with crisps and coleslaw and I had a bacon and egg bap. However a wait of over 40 minutes when they weren't anywhere near full was extremely annoying. The 2 young ladies waiting on were very pleasant but there was an older, tall, grey haired lady clearing tables. She told one group waiting to sit to move out so she could clear a table. They were nowhere near her and it took her just a few seconds, she didn't even wipe the table. There was no please or sorry to be a nuisance. If she had spoken to us like that we would have walked out. They went and sat outside. After a few more minutes she cleared another table and could be heard sighing. I don't know if she owns the cafe, is manager or an employee but I have never seen such a rude attitude towards paying customers. We would certainly not go again as the service was so slow and quite honestly the decor was nothing to shout about. Not a patch on other places in Northumberland where we have eaten.

We were recommended by our B&B host to visit Ford Village as a worthwhile tourist attraction. The weather was less than pleasant but we finally arrived to find very little activity. However, outside the Shop & Post Office was a sign advertising coffee, a good place to start. Inside they made us welcome, even though they were getting back up to speed after a power cut. Very friendly owner and staff who suggested points of interest in the village and further afield. The Old Ford School House is an absolute "must visit" and also a close second is "the Wee Room" in the Tea Room.We also gave the Flat White Coffee, 10 out of !0.

Fantastic panini and weird bacon in tea cake but oddly delicious. Owners were really friendly , garden tables decorated very prettily , only five minutes from our caravan and a lovely treat following a 2 hour walk between Ford and Etal . Absolutely stunning village suspect often overlooked , can’t wait to go again.

We called in for tea and cake after a day of sightseeing. I had the orange and chocolate cake, which was a lovely combination with the added bonus of a 'slice ' of chocolate orange on the top. The tea was in a lovely glass teapot, great to judge when to pour it. My husband had a warm fruit scone and said it was the best he's had - even better than the ones at National Trust tea shops, which is high praise indeed. Lovely setting, too cold for us to sit outside but we hope to do that next time.

A beautiful setting. Received a very warm welcome and excellent service - nothing is too much trouble here. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the pulled pork sandwiches, homemade scones (unbelievably yummy!!!) and gluten free carrot cake - what a treat to be able to get something GF that is so tasty. The tea is proper tea - loose leaves that had such depth of flavour. We really did enjoy our visit here and would very highly recommend.

Another trip to Ford and a meal in the Tea Room. Run by Jenny and Graham (who run the B&B where we had the most fabulous stay last year), the food here is outstanding. I had a fish finger sandwich, evoking memories of childhood, and a side order of Jenny's coleslaw (worth the trip for the coleslaw alone - if they sold it I would buy it by the vat). Dessert was a scone with jam and cream, made by a lady who lived just around the corner in the village. Jenny and Graham continue to be incredibly warm and friendly and can't do enough to make your visit one to remember. Can't wait to have yet another visit to this fantastic gem of a place

Called in to this tea room for the first time although I’ve enjoyed visiting the village before. The area and the name “village tea rooms” would suggest we would have had a good experience. The owner was really pleasant and it is hard to be disparaging but the cafe is not appealing at all. Plastic table cloths and very cheap looking furniture greeted us. We ordered coffee and tea cakes . I think the teacakes must have been toasted in the oven because they were soggy in the middle and hard on the outside. The shop is on the level for anyone with problems but the toilet facilities would be impossible for anyone who was disabled or big in size. How health and safety passed it I’ll never know. This area need a more upmarket coffee shop but I wonder if there would be enough support to make one viable.

We stopped here for afternoon tea and were so disappointed. The village of Ford is beautiful, it could be a setting for a Miss Marple mystery and we hoped the Ford Village shop and Post Office and Tea Room would be a quaint tea room in the English Village tradition. We were sadly let down, plastic table covers, artificial flowers and a very depressing menu. One of our party had egg mayonnaise sandwiches and tea. The bread didn't seem fresh and the sandwich was accompanied by some corn chips and very poor quality coleslaw. The toilet was so small that it couldn't be accessed if you weighed more than 4 stone. The proprietor blamed the previous owner and directed people to the toilet in the museum which did not please the staff on duty at the museum. One wonders if the lack of a useable toilet breaches local authority rules for food premises. We couldn't help feel that a village as beautiful as this would benefit from a really good traditional tea room that people would be pleased to visit, however the sanitary arrangements would have to be greatly improved.
