Decent well prepared and presented food staff were friendly

The really lovely staff and great quality food make this an excellent stop in for lunch or just a drink and cake. Access is easy, and there's a covered outside area. They are always really nice to my elderly mum.

If you want to be robbed 13 pounds for two bacon baps with only two slices of bacon go ahead but I will never go there again. I come from London and paid cheap and better

Great place for a lunch stop. Food is fairly straightforward & simple, but nice. It's tucked down a walkway & most of the tables are outside the cafe itself, but under cover.

Wonderful, tasty breakfast with a bit of banter thrown in !! All food is cooked to order and served quite quickly. Coffee is some of the best around.

Excellent breakfast with the most perfect poached eggs ever tasted! Husband says best breakfast out he has ever had- well cooked and presented full English, non greasy and all served at the right temperature.

Coffee and scone. Very nice and relaxed. Dog friendly, lovely lady serving and no rushing. Lots of yummy things to tempt you.

I had a lovely breakfast in Cranbrook and found food for thought by stumbling upon it. I had the full English breakfast. It was well made but a bit pricey to be honest, I didn't expect a London price so far out. I found it tasty but not value for money. They did get rather full by lunch time and so it's obviously a popular spot. The staff are very friendly too

I've read a couple of bad reviews about this place and fortunately many others very positive. My personal experience has been very positive indeed: sat down for a coffee, relaxing atmosphere and lovely, available staff. I need to say coffee quality is above average (Illy coffee is advertised) and cost was as expected for being in the main Cranbrook strip. Oh, and they accept dogs, which is a strong additional 'plus' for coming again.

Popped here yesterday, me & my friend was visiting the area this is little gem of a place ‘ the staff are so lovely, especially one of the staff called Tom , Tom couldn’t do enough for us such a polite person, the cafe is Very clean reasonably priced, definitely go back here again

Perfect place for a light lunch after a visit to Sissinghurst. Just down Cranbrook High Street from the free car-park. We sat in the little courtyard at the back, and had generous helpings of home-cooked gammon with a little salad , a fried egg and the BEST French fries we've ever had. Washed down with local apple juice. (Admittedly, there's no licence to sell alcohol.) The young waitresses and the Cook herself are charming and friendly. We didn't have room for a dessert, so the Cook boxed us up two great slices of lemon drizzle cake with some local strawberries to take home. Service was pretty good: you don't mind waiting 20 minutes for freshly cooked food. Prices are very fair - it was cheaper than pub food, and tons better.

Standard little cafe, bit like they used to be but not necessarily in a good way. Food is ok all be it a bit expensive in my opinion,inside is bland but inoffensive. Its ok,not much else to choose from so I guess they don't need to put in much effort

What a wonderful cafe ,visited it twice and both times could not fault it in any way . The ladies who run it are amazing, friendly and go out of their way to give a good service. Presentation of food is outstanding and the cleanliness is excellent. Definitely would recommend for any occasion 👌

A small cafe tucked down an alleyway on Cranbrook High Street. Don’t be put off by the “alley appearance” the food is very nice and the staff friendly, helpful and cheerful. We thoroughly enjoyed our prawn and mango salad. Thank you

Food cooked to order and very, very tasty. Service was good and breakfast delivered to our table very quickly. Both orange juice and coffee were very tasty. Breakfast was quality and the plates not awash with grease. Staff very cheerful/friendly and they also have a very good lunch menu.

Eggs overcooked. Economy bread and cheap ingredients. I won't return.

I don't go to Cranbrook often but when I do I make sure to visit this absolute little gem the food never disappoints the 2 ladies are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. They were very accommodating I had my twin toddler grandsons with me and felt very welcome / child friendly. The cakes are to die for!! Would recommend a visit here if you ever go to Cranbrook. I wish all cafes were as lovely as this one.

Don’t ever bother going into “Food For Thought” the worst cafe not only in Cranbrook but in Kent, fowl atmosphere, everything there tasted reheated , the coffee tasted like the coffee machine hadn’t been cleaned for decades, overall tho very disappointed thought they weren’t very nice and the food was awful

Found this lovely little place tucked away on the high street, food was amazing, lovely staff. Not too busy, great selection of food on the menu. Would recommend to anyone visiting cranbrook.

Visited yesterday with a friend. We both had cassarole which was one of the specials, and a drink (tea and elderflower). Could not fault the food or the service however I feel that the price was extremely high. It came to over £36! My friend paid and wasn't fazed but I think this is way too expensive

I love this cafe! Me and my partner stumbled upon it whilst visiting cranbrook for the first time and we were made to feel so welcome and at home. The food was delicious and hit all the right spots. The lovely lady there even made me a special christmas sandwich! It was incredible and a lovely environment. All the staff were so friendly and funny. Very nice cafe and will be coming back here again as soon as possible!

This is a very friendly, helpful cafe. The food is freshly made although the menu is not extensive the selection they have is good for lunch or just a coffee. This place is tucked away just off the high street however they do have a sign outside. Keep a look out as this place is well worth a visit.

Came home yesterday after having a great lunch, home made steak and kidney pie and vegetables. This is a great place to eat, the staff are friendly and the chef is brilliant.

Food for thought is a gem, an amazing place to spend your time. I'm so happy I found this oasis the coffee is excellent and the duck teriyaki with rice noodles was five star Michelin quality. If you are in cranbrook I highly recommend food for thought.

We were visiting Cranbrook and wanted a light bite for lunch so we stopped at Food for Thought a small cafe with some outisde tables just off the high street. Their food is home cooked, my wife had the quiche with cheese, caramelised onion and balsamitic vinegar (it came with salad and fries) and I had home cooked gammon, eggs and fries. Really nice food which was well presented, The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an outside table in the courtyard and would definitely go back next time we visit Cranbrook.

A smashing little coffee shop. A warm welcome awaited us as we strolled in with our dogs. We sat at the back of a sun trapped courtyard under an umbrella and our dogs were offered water. A very reasonably priced menu was on offer but we opted for the homemade pie and quiche. The food was smashing and definitely home made. The staff were very happy to adapt the menu to whatever the customer wanted. Definitely will return when we are next in Cranbrook.

I visited this really lovely little cafe with a friend today, it is a bit hidden, but really is a hidden gem. The ladies working in there today (maybe owner(s)) were really friendly and fun. The food was fresh and delicious. We were made to feel very welcome and both said we would definitely like to visit again! Highly recommended.

Visited a friend from Cranbrook with a friend. Lunch was booked at this delightful cafe. As you walk towards the cafe, there are many beautiful hanging baskets and troughs. Greeted by Jane and was warmly welcomed. We chose drinks and were offered the menu and also dishes of the day and were left at our leisure to choose. My friends had the chicken and leek pie and I had the chicken curry, all homemade, all of which was delicious. My friends chose the fresh mixed berry fruit with cream, which they enjoyed, whilst I had an Illy cappuccino, which was also very tasty. I must say Jane and Danielle, who have had this cafe for 14 years, were so helpful and have a great rapport with their customers. Certainly a place to return.

Lovely little coffee shop that really is a hidden treasure, behind some large metal gates on the main road in the centre of the town. The two ladies who run the business are so accommodating and really kind, always a smile on their faces and nothing is too much trouble - plus they make the best coffee (give Costa a swerve and support a brilliant little business instead!) in Cranbrook and the rest of the menu is just as impressive as their coffee! My 5yr old grandaughter thought she'd died and gone to heaven with the hot chocolate and salted caramel brownie lol!

I.visited this delightful,hidden gem in Cranbrook for the first time today. I sat in the cosy little courtyard..I didn't have to wait long before my order was taken and shortly after my lunch arrived..I had a delicious home made quiche,salad and chips. Such good value...

On a rainy June '21 day this place provided a sanctuary, with great food and a wonderfully welcoming and attentive owners who could not have done enough for us and cheered us up immensely. Thoroughly recommended!

We had a very tasty lunch at Food For Thought. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. There was a good choice of meals, daily specials as well as lighter bites and sandwiches. I had a delicious home-made asparagus and brie quiche with a salad. There is plenty of undercover seating - perfect on a rainy day!! The tables were all spotlessly clean.

Me and my partner went for breakfast this morning. Very reasonable prices. The lady who serves us was very friendly and attentive which is very rare nowadays at most restaurants ect. Wow what a fantastic lunch. Cannot praise this place and these lovely ladies enough. We have been here several times and the food is always superb. All homemade and so tasty. The extra little touches make it so special.

Ok it was a Saturday lunch time but if you are going to offer about fifteen tables you should provide more than one waitress however pleasant she appeared. We found an empty table but it did not have a menu on it so we could not even plan what we wanted. After waiting over ten minutes without acknowledgement we upped and left. Very sad and disappointing.

We have been visiting this incredible little coffee shop / cafe for about three years now and call in there about once or twice a month. The two lady owners are very happy cheerful and are always ready for a little chat. Waitresses are always cheerful and helpful. The food is always fresh homemade and beautifully presented. On our last visit my husband had chili with rice which he said was lovely and I had a ploughmans with ham and cheese which was really tasty and home made bread. We shared a homemade lemon and strawberry cake again beautifully presented with organic raspberries and strawberries. The price you pay in this establishment is half we have had to pay in other places that serve up processed food.
