Everything seemed to hit the mark. Location, staff, amenities, but if you get hungry.. there are many many many better options than the hotel restaurant. It's hard to mess up nachos and pizza but they found a way. Breakfast is good but skip the night snacking.

Nos encantó, además de la comida (la ensalada césar se convirtió en mi preferida), la atención por parte de los camareros. Sobretodo de Girolamo, que fue muy amable y servicial con nosotros. Sin duda, repetiríamos!

Entered the restaurant at 8.45 pm in the evening , staying at the Ibis, weather was bleak so decided to eat here. Ordered the Monday night house special only to be told 5 minutes after ordering that it was not available so ordered from fish and chips from the a la carte menu. Tables either side of me ordered after me and both received their starters and and then mains. I waited and waited , people besides me finished mains and I was still waiting . After 45 mins decided to leave, unacceptable . Advised the server why I was leaving and they did not apologiize or provide any explanation. Went to AGAH grill less than 1 min walk away and was served immediately.

Standard menu available out of hours. I had a pizza which was clearly a frozen, stick in the oven job. £12 was probably a touch on the high side but for London OK I guess

Within the Ibis, this restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I spent a whole day and night within the hotel, and we ate lunch, dinner and breakfast all within the hotel restaurant, and we had no complaints at all. Good food and good service.

Review: What a difference a day makes..... I'm staying in the Ibis for work so have eaten here before, and had I written this yesterday it would have been very different. However, this evening I had their special 'Rack of Lamb' and things changed. Given there was around ten percent occupancy of seats in the restaurant my main course took a long time to come, but I was not in a rush so this was of little concern and I put it down to a careful meticulous chef who intended to only let the finest fare leave his kitchen no matter how long it takes. The racks of lamb arrived and were well presented on the plate, carefully propped against one another over a bed of colorful vegetables. After that somewhat brief visual joy I began a fork bending effort to release the dry meat from the bone. It was quite comical to the point I even started to giggle after a slip of the fork inadvertently launched food off my plate at life threatening velocity in the form a dangerous leathery lamb missile. A waiter asked how I was enjoying the food and I explained about the lamb being rather over cooked and amusingly bounced it on the table to demonstrate, he apologized and slipped away. Shortly after a waitress asked how I was doing and I repeated the rubbery trick which again brought an apology as she too sidestepped away...... On departing, while paying for my saddlery, I was offered a palanquin held aloft by eunuchs throwing flowers in front of me as they quashed my bill and transported me back to my room humbled by the travesty they had served me for dinner?..... Nope, full price, no mention, no apology, no free drink....nothing....except the 'I don't know how to deal with this' look in the staffs eyes. That my friends is how you lose a substantial company's business at your hotel, not because it's a serious thing as you can tell from my flippant review, but why would we bother coming back when there are so many others serving less chewy fare.

Wait staff somewhat inexperienced, but dinner here was surprisingly good. The restaurant doubles as the hotel's breakfast room, and although breakfast is good, the restaurant is both too small and severely understaffed to serve the hordes of hungry hotel guest between eight and nine thirty. But avoid the breakfast rush, and you'll be fine.

It looks the part: Nice interior, subtle lighting etc. But once you are seated things fall apart a bit. The staff has trouble understanding english and are obviously not trained very well, but they make the best of it. The food is mediocre. We tried several dishes, but overall it was bland. The burger is something any chef should be able to pull off. Nit this one. I got a thick, dry slab of ground beef wedged between a bun with some molten cheese. No onions, no sauce and certainly no seasoning. If you want to see how it is done properly I suggest you pop over to the other side of the street and order a burger from the competition. A shame really, more attention and standards and hey presto, you could be a cracking little restaurant!

First, the bread. Nothing beats a mouldy piece of bread to start it off. We complained to the waiting staff and got a rude "sorry". They did however refuse to believe it was mould even though it was green and within the hard bread. Not sure what else it could possibly be. Second, three out of four dishes were alright. One Peking duck and pancakes which was alright; two fish and chips (the peas were horrendous, hard and dry). The last dish was the slow roasted shoulder of lamb, which sounded good on paper but in reality the portion size was small. The piece of lamb was the size of a child's fist covered by a sea of mash and gravy (it wasn't even such a nice cut and consisted of a large amount of fat). Now the price, around £12.95. For that price I would expect a better portion. When the issue of the disappointing portion size (especially in comparison to the other dishes we ordered) was raised with staff, they were quite defensive stating it is simply the size of a portion. We explained we eat out quite regularly in London (and elsewhere) and in comparison that main course was unbelievably small. They eventually offered a free starter to follow the dish. They were rather rude when returning to the table with the dish and also when bringing the bill to the table. We won't be returning again and we can only hope they improve the proportion size for this dish in future.

We were staying in the hotel and popped down for a light supper at around 22:30 on a Sunday night. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes. We ordered a starter and a side salad each, the food was excellent came quickly and looked and tasted fantastic. Prices are very reasonable for the location too.

The menu is not very extensive but there is a good range of dishes to keep everyone happy and all at a reasonable price. Food was very good and portions were big enough that even I didn't manage to finish everything! Only complaint I have was that I was not offered any extra condiments and at no point did anyone check that my meal was OK, not that there was a problem but it's nice to be asked. Could not find a menu anywhere online before my visit so have added pictures to show what is available.

We stayed 2 nights at the London City Ibis hotel. Breakfast was not included in the price we paid, but no worries as the Hotel has a very good restaurant, Foggs Bar. Our first morning was Sunday and the place was busy with lots of people wanting brunch. Even with all the people, we were promptly seated. The food was very good with a wide selection of both breakfast and lunch items. We especially liked the fresh fruit and cheeses for breakfast as well as the yummy croissants. The wait staff was very good with removing dirty plates as well as keeping the buffet items restocked and fresh. Would have liked to try this place for dinner.

This is a pleasant clean restaurant with good attentive staff. For dinner, I had a Thai soup but it had little spice heat in it. The same was true for the Piri-Piri chicken. Given the fact I chose these dishes for my love of spicy...

Sargeant's Mess is a British restaurant just in front of the Tower of London and adjacent to Tower Bridge. Created by celebrity chef Mark Sargeant, the restaurant serves unmemorable food in a fairly bland atmosphere buttressed by one of the most spectacular locations in London. The food concept behind Mess is to offer traditional British fare at a high quality. Frankly, it is just average. The food is the weakpoint of the restaurant. The concept just seems to have fallen away with for instance the only vegetarian dish in the main course even using the American name Mac N Cheese. It is ok but it is just macaroni cheese so there's a clear ceiling to how good it can be. A large part of the menu is burgers. Not exactly traditional British fare. The vegetarian burger was not bad because it had an avocado in it. Otherwise not the kind of a quality a specialist upmarket provider might generate. Dessert options are fairly limited though the Eton Mess is ok. Service was not that great unfortunately. The faux accent was jarring in its articulation. Chips as an accompaniment to a burger were served without question as to whether a condiment could be offered then an over the top response was generated to a question asking whether such a thing could be provided. Price is high considering the fare. The location does demand a price like that but the food does not. Sargeant just has failed to generate interesting eating. One real shame for a December lunch was that it turned out the Christmas menu was not on offer. It was a real disappointment and made the whole place feel like a let-down. The plus is absolutely the magnificent location. Nestling in the shadow of the Tower and next to Tower Bridge the views are incredible. Looking out at the Thames is beautiful here although the number of window seats is quite small. However, going outside while waiting for food for instance offers a terrific perspective on some of London's finest buildings. Admittedly it is perfectly possible just to walk along the Thames and get the same view. Sargeant's Mess is ultimately a disappointment. The food is flavourless and too simple. Nothing interesting about it at all. No creativity or flair. The price reflects the location and so is too much for the quality of the eating. Service is not great and it was such a shame to find the menus advertised on the website did not exist in reality. The plus is the magnificent location, one of the very best anywhere in London.
