booked reservation online, confirmation email received. arrived and was told they do not serve food.... complete waste of time researching for a place to go what restaurant does not serve food. staff were rude would not recommend this place

This was our first visit and my husband is in a wheelchair. I have to say that the premises are very accessible. We had squid to start and fish and chips. Both fab. The fish was enormous and fresh not frozen. Chips were crispy and tasty. Service was really lovely. The only gripe was both times when I asked for a glass of wine, the server asked 'medium or large' I asked for medium and was charged for large.

After the Remain march we needed to refuel -everything was so crowded in town we decided to go to Canary Wharf & found Smollensky's. A great evening for the four of us - with cocktails, two steaks & two salmon with one bottle of red & one bottle of white - followed by decadent desserts.All good and just what was needed after a very long day.

I had the seabass and it was truly delicious. Not huge servings but very flavorful. I highly recommend.

You need a good pair of jaws to chew on the sirloin steak. I battled with the ribs that were o.k. We had to ask for extra napkins and service was very very slow. Not a very good experience. Once is enough.

Had Lunch at the smollesky and the steak was half awesome and half amazing and our waitress was top notch Thank you very much for taking care of us Ester!!

Tried to book online told they couldn't take any more bookings online and try at the restaurant. Turned up at7.15 on a Saturday night only one other couple in the restaurant. Food was very disappointing. Ordered the sirloin steak for £28 thin lots of gristle. Ordered the voodoo chicken wings for starters very bland expecting more of a kick,total bill including 2 cocktails £81. Never again.

When i had arrived to the restaurant reception there was no one there to greet. Instead 3 staff saw me but ignored and carried on doing their delivery. There was a male staff who saw me but walked past me twice whilst he was clearing delivery. When I asked if anyone was here at front desk he just told me to go in and just choose a table. When i sat down NO ONE came to serve if i wanted a drink. When my friend came we both just walked out on friday afternoon 5pm and the place was quite empty. I wonder why. Anyways I didn't see the point in making dinner reservation if it was this formal so we end up going to big easy instead. Not impress and won't go again. P.s shame I can't comment on the food.1 star for good looking restaurant

With the card, this was decent value as the ribs were otherwise expensive, the ribs were great though. They served Moretti which also attracted the 25% off.

A team dinner on Monday this week. Thanks to the team who were really friendly. My bosses like this place and I can see why they keep coming back. Good value food.

We visited on Saturday 16th for a Valentine’s dinner. Bare in mind it wasn’t our first time. We went back because our previous experience was great. This time however was horrible. The restaurant was not busy at all - another 3 tables with couples. Despite this we waited nearly 15 minutes before our drinks order was taken. We waited 20 minutes for our starter - chicken wings & calamari. The wings were fine. The calamari was cold & tough. Our mains took about 25 minutes to arrive. My boyfriend’s steak was cold and my burger, the sweet potato fries were undercooked. The wine glass was dirty and my boyfriend’s steak knife was broken, with the blade nearly falling out. It was an incredibly disappointing night. We won’t be going back. Overall the service was not great, the food was poor and the waiting times were baffling. The portions also seemed to have shrunk.

Two of us called in with no reservation at 7.45pm during the Canary Wharf Winter Lights festival. The restaurant was half empty, so we were seated immediately. We were then ignored for half an hour without even an enquiry about drinks.

Our server was fantastic, friendly and so funny! Very welcoming place, albeit very busy and waited a while for dessert menus, the food is amazing!!

Had lunch here and went for a burger. I had the Marilyn burger which is the vegetarian burger comprising falafel, humous and a sweet chilli sauce - very nice. My colleagues, one had the Jack Burger with gluten free bun and the other the Emilia. All of us enjoyed them and would happily eat there again. Service was excellent, very friendly and efficient. Only slight negative was the ladies toilet which was not very clean.

The location of this restaurant is excellent within the business district. Lunch and dinner menu's are pretty much the same. The selections are multiple and interesting but overall the food is OK. For a place that is in the heart of Canary Wharf I'd expect better choices and better tasting dishes. I'd consider it average and you are paying more than average price. Better off walking a few blocks to a gem of an Italian restaurant which as an even more vibrant but outdoor bar. I wouldn't purposely avoid this place but not a prime choice. At night the bar is full of energy and pretty packed. Bartenders are nice and somewhat attentive. good for people watching.

We visited Smollenskys for a works Christmas Party. There was a good menu choice and given there were a lot of us I thought the standard of food was very good. I had parsnip soup, burger and trifle. All were delicious. Service very good too!!

We were a group of 20 who had teas/coffees upstairs in the outside section overlooking the Plaza which was fun.

This was a new venue to all in our party. The food was very good with all of us eating something different for starters and main course. Sadly, the restaurant completely lacked any atmosphere even though there were a couple of parties going on.

Used this place for a Xmas party for around 100 people. Very well laid out for this sort of thing. Very nice food. A small bar that ideally would have been double manned the whole time. Lovely views and good use of space including outside parts. Great location.

The food was good, the service was inconsistent, either couldn't get any attention or it was over the top, numerous staff at our table every few minutes. My friend and I were horrified to see a mouse running around the tables. We pointed this out to a waitress and then to a Male colleague of hers. He kicked the hole in the wall that the mouse kept running in and out of and tapped the walls. I said this wasn't what I expected in a restaurant and he shrugged and said it was probably because it was cold outside. He thanked me for pointing it out to him and then carried on with his duties while the mouse continued to make a few more appearances. There was no apology or anything else said or done. We left very shortly afterwards.

Fabulous setting but the staff are disengaging and the place has a strong cleaning solution smell - putty as this is very well situated

Great views over Canary Wharf - we are locals and love this area, and are in the course of speccing out all the restaurants, as we eat out a lot.

Just had an amazing food experience.

An otherwise excellent evening ruined by a rather rude and selfish doorman. All the staff were great, including the manager and the other doorman. However, this one selfish individual was trying to kick the few remaining people on a quite night out ahead of time agreed by the manager and staff.

Great and lively location overlooking all the hustle and bustle of canary wharf. Super friendly and helpful service ---- but the food: So bland and thorughly uninspiring.

On edge of plaza where you can sit outside have a drink and watch the congregation of the finance district float by and listen to all the hullabaloo in the world. service was good and welcoming

This is a wonderful restaurant. The staff are very good & were attentive. The food is just delicious & reasonably priced. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we went there for dinner too. Highly recommended.

Had the set lunch menu on the terrace overlooking Reuters Square. The food and service could not be bettered. The loos were spotless. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I had agreed to meet a colleague for a coffee in Smollensky's in Canary Wharf at 10am today. We have had lunch their several times previously. When I arrived at 10am today the staff said that they had not opened yet and recommended that I go downstairs to Carluccios which I did. I bought 2 coffees from Carluccios and sat in the Smollenkys downstairs area. just before 11am the Manager of Smollensky's without warning or introduction started picking up our coffees and aggressively telling is that this was not Carluccios and threateningly telling us to move on. I explained that it was his colleagues who told us to go to Carluccios. I can understand the seating division but his tone and manner were completely dispproportionate and upsetting. He is in the wrong business. The service industry is not for him. We shall not be returning to Smollenskys.

Don’t waste your money! this place is awful. Food was utterly tasteless and the service is what I can only describe as odd. I am told the branch on the Strand is far better but as for this branch never again !!!

We went on a Saturday night, so was probably quieter than a week day, was nice and quiet with a chilled out vibe. We chose the restaurant for its location and reasonably priced menu for its location. Food was amazing and all arrived in good time, we were served very swiftly and weren’t left hanging around or feeling like we were being rushed - can highly recommend the mac & cheese bites for a starter!

We had dinner here which I think fairly warrants the description of being just about okay. The food was all preperpared and okay but at restaurant quality prices. Frankly not a place to come to eat. Over priced but poor Quality.

Booked for dinner here tonight. The restaurant is very tired looking and in need of some modernisation. The food was dreadful obviously not cooked from scratch and tasteless. Both our courses arrived in quick succession, with no break in between. My steak was over done and very dry and my mash lumpy. Would have been better having a burger out of Mac Donald’s and at a fraction of the cost !!

Some of the best fish & chips. Great proper fat cut chips. Lovely fish. Great service. Will be coming back.

Visited restaurant today. The staff were lovely and very attentive. What a shame the food let it down. Mine was not bad, but my friend had fish and chips (well fish and a couple of chips). I then spent the whole lunch looking at the glass doors out to the terrace that were absolutely filthy. Little things like this can make a big difference.

Having been to the nearby Everyman Cinema, which I highly recommend, we thought we would give this restaurant a try. It was 8pm and on entering the venue it was not very busy.

Smollenky’s is easy to find in the Reuters Plaza. We felt being charged overprice for the service and food we had for lunch. It was busy, but the customers shouldn’t get a feeling that everything was prepared and serviced in a hurry.

5 of us who work in Canary Wharf went there to eat lunch. We all had various hamburgers. The food was so bland, overpriced and we didn't get offered ketchup with our meals. We had to ask for ketchup and the waitress brought out 1 tiny tin for 5 of us to share. When we advised the waitress (nicely) she just got annoyed, not apologetic. Isn't that a restaurant's business to serve great food and service??

We were seated quickly, tended to promptly and the food was delicious! Big portions (we both had burgers and diet cokes) but it was a good atmosphere too. Will definitely go again when in London 👍

Dropped in after after-work drinks for impromptu dinner. Food was good but nothing special really and pretty expensive.

We waited at least an hour to get our food, I ordered steak and chips my friend had fish and chips I asked for my steak medium well and it was just under medium so I didn't understand why it took so ling there were more tables getting cleared than food coming out, at least we had our bottle of prosecco to keep us occupied while waiting.

We went for an impromptu dinner on a rainy evening. Both went for the rib eye, chips and Malbec for £18.50 option with a cocktail each to start. Service was quite slow but we weren't in a rush at this point. Steak was cooked nicely and wine was a good one for a deal. We then had 2 brownies (which were a little powdery) and a latte. We had to wait 20 mins for the latte as they had run out of milk. We would have cancelled but felt sorry for the poor waitress they sent out into the pouring rain. We had to ask for the bill twice and after 10 mins (when there were only about 10 people in the restaurant and the servers were all chatting in the corner) we went and paid at the bar as we had a train to catch. Service not great, food good but too expensive for the dessert quality.

We were there for lunch on a Saturday, so it was quiet. The food was nice - good burger and very good chips. It was really rather cold, to the extent that husband had to put his coat on! We did mention it but the temperature didn’t improve. There was also a really ‘drainy’ smell in the loos, I think they were having some issues! Seats were very hard and uncomfortable too. Service was efficient and friendly, but not good enough to persuade us back anytime soon sadly...

I would like to begin by pointing out, I booked this table and made your restaurant aware of the large booking in December, so there was plenty of notice given.

I had high expectations coming to this restaurant as my sister has had amazing food here countless times before. When we walked in we were standing for 5 minuets before anyone approached us (even though we had a booking) our order got taken at about 8pm. I ordered bread as a starter, the 1/2 chicken and Mac and cheese with fries for main. We sat there for 40 mins without even getting our bread, we then had to ask a waiter where it was who brought it 5 mins later. The bread, I have to say was very good! We got our mains 1 hour and 20 mins after ordering. The chicken was nice, so were the fries. Although the Mac and cheese was nice I felt it was missing something. Our plates got collected about 10 mins after we finished. We then asked for the bill and sat with the bill in front of us for 15 mins before someone finally decided to bring a card machine (keep in mind it honestly was not busy at all) after over two hours in the place we finally got to leave. However, when I was leaving I saw something that disgusted me. There was a woman in the kitchen ( I presume a waitress as she wasn’t in any sort of uniform nor did she have any sort of hair net) she put her hand into the cage of the deep fat fryer and picked out a chip and ate it. I just had my lunch today with one of my best friend after a long time.The staff was very warm and smiling which made our choice more right. Alex the guy who took care of us was so lovely with his hilarious jokes, he also take care with some of my delicate requests. That kind of attitude and professionalism will make me come back.Bravo!!!

New Year's Eve meal prior to "fireworks trip along Thames" could not have been better. Attentive staff, nice food, ample drinks and a short stroll to the pier to catch our boat at ten.... all fab.

Amazing service! Loved the peanut butter cheesecake and the Chilli Dog was the perfect after ice skating pick me up. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to Canary Wharf. They have a great terrace bar outside which was cosy with hot water bottles and blankets. Would love to see it in the summer.

Went there for lunch with my children. They said the kids’ menus were unavailable due to some “ technical problem”. They said they could not even take orders from the kids menu until this was sorted.

My husband works at Canary Wharf so we met there for a quick meal before heading off to the O2. We were promptly shown to a nice window table and a friendly waitress took our order.

This steak house is located in the expensive canary wharf area but is very reasonably priced and very quiet at weekend lunchtimes so grab a nice table and food at cheapest prices in area we could find.

Not exactly busy in a Wednesday at 12noon so expected a quick turn around. After ordering drinks it was an age before we had food order taken - and ended up paying the bill in a rush at 1.25 - Big lunch then you think - far from it - wasn’t even complex - chicken burger and loaded burger - both were extremely tasty - but not worth waiting so long ! Shame as that took the edge off an impromptu sit down lunch - sandwiches next time!

We bought late tickets for the O2 so we went t9 Smollensky’s for a quick meal as the restaurants at O2were fully booked.

I took my daughter here on a Saturday night in November for dinner. I remember the Picadilly branch 'Smollensky's red balloon' from the 80s and was telling my daughter about the amazing peanut butter cheesecake they used to serve. We were quickly seated in a window table with great views of the Christmas lights. Service was friendly, efficient and prompt. The food was great - burgers and steaks with a range of tasty side dishes. Delighted to see the peanut butter cheesecake is still on the menu. My daughter had it (but sadly declined the sharing spoon !). Overall it was a fantastic evening with good, food, wine and service. Would highly recommend.

Just pop in for couple of drinks and nibbles; it was busy but pleasant. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere.

This restaurant occupies a prime spot in Canary Wharf- right opposite the Reuters plaza. I had eaten here once before - a few years ago for a business lunch.

Not been here before. They do steak and burgers. I had a rump which was very good, tender and cooked as requested. The sweet potato fries, mash and spinach were good. This place is very very noisy though even though not that busy. Prices ok for quality. Service good too. We did not have dessert as they were a bit uninteresting.

I did not have a good start with this restaurant as they had promised me to decorate my sons table for his birthday but they did nothing. They didn't seem bothered. My son was disappointed.

The steaks at this venue were only just okay. My medium rump steak arrived almost well done. I was getting suspicious after having waited over 45 minutes for it to arrive. Three rump steaks, rocket salad, garlic wild mushrooms, creamed spinach, two glasses of red wine and a bottle of sparkling water and the bill came to £101, including 12.5% service charge.

Apart from the waitress that received us in a cold attitude....

Canary wharf is amazing. It has a good atmosphere. Plenty of people drinking outside downstairs and in the bar. Restaurant nice. Had no issues. Enjoyed the fish cakes and special of the day lamb burger. No room for dessert today. Not too expensive. Good value for money. Have been to Smollensky restaurants before and would return again..

I would put it this way: seen from outside, not really into it. However, once you are in it is fine. You will get delicious food. The steak was cooked to perfection, the sides were great and also the dessert was good. To conclude: I can recommend that restaurant.

The deep fat fryer was broken, so half the menu was unavailable (makes you realize just how much on the menu is fried). The flat iron steak (ordered medium well) was so over cooked it was actually inedible, I literally couldn't cut it and it was impossible to chew. I left most of it on my plate and the waitress was trying to insist on bringing me another, but I couldn't face it. I was with a party of business colleagues from 4 different countries and I sensed their total disappointment/ bewilderment in the quality of food and the way it was cooked; we were all too embarrassed to mention it to each other. The meal was in my Top 3 worst meals ever eaten anywhere. Sorry Smollenskys, but you really do need to do a lot better, you have a great location in Canary Wharf and plenty of potential customers, but you are lagging far behind other establishments in the area.

Why employ waiting staff if they don't know the first thing about waiting??? The taking and the delivery of the order was a disaster, from start to finish. The first thing ordered, a simple bottle of water did not arrive until nearly the end of the meal and then only after reminding the waiter! It went downhill from there really!! The mains arrived before the starters. The waiter then asked if he could serve both courses together - really!! When told no, the waiter said that he would take the mains back and put them under the warming lights!! He was advised that would not be acceptable, nonetheless, it was clear that some of the dishes had been re-served thus and with chef's special sauce no doubt!!! Not happy at all. The saving grace, the head person (can't really call them waiters!) did take the second round of drinks off the bill, without being prompted. However, in my mind the whole thing should have been free on account of the shambles. It wasn't even particularly busy in there either, not that would excuse sloppy service even if it had been!

We have eatenhere a few times and never had a bad meal, great value, great location, friendly staff, thoroughly recomend it.

Stopped off here for some after works drinks and food. I won't be returning any time soon, after walking past this place for a year I thought I would give it a try wish I kept a clean sheet. I ordered the classic burger, a very average burger at that. I have had far better at Shake Shack and Five Guys. Made my way downstairs for a drink, approached the bar first guy said he wasn't serving and left if at that, had to find another person, then they took about 10 minutes to put three pints. All in all below average for Canary Wharf.

Stopped off for some refreshments on a recent visit to Canary Wharf

Booked a table for 2 at 8pm. A lovely man looked after us. We order mushrooms to start, Steak with sides. Drinks were order and water asked for, this didn't come. Food was delicious and steak was juicy and cooked to perfection. I once again asked for water, which still didn't come. I don't expect to have to ask 3 times for tap water!! Because if this we removed our tip! I would recommend the steak here

I have visited smollenskys canary wharf on Tuesday evening. Great music and nice atmosphere infact the restaurant was perfectly set for good dinner. I had T-bone steak and my girl friend had fish and chips. The food I must tell u is best I have had in my whole life so far. The service were great. Well done smollenskys. I will be back soon.

In all the years that I worked in Canary Wharf, I never visited Smollensky's and having now taken the plunge on a return visit to CW, I wish I had kept my 'clean sheet'. It positions itself as a grill / steak house yet managed to serve the poorest steak I have had in many years. The quality of the meat was poor and it took a real effort to cut through the extensive gristle and produce edible pieces - very disappointing. The service was passable but passable is not good enough given the clientele in Canary Wharf. The CW area has many better alternatives.

Go to anywhere else in the area. Disgusting people, Disgusting place! I recommend going to Carluccios - The staff even mentioned it!!

Good restaurant in central location close to hotels. Light and clean. Varied menu and attentive service. Good choice of drinks and food came quickly. Would recommend for a business dinner with a mid sized group staying nearby.

My work colleague and I had a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I was surprised that the restaurant was empty. I had a Cesar salad and my colleague had the lamb. Both were fine, but nothing to rave about.

We had our dinner here before our show at the 02. It's really a nice place, good food, good service, pricey but you should realise that most eateries here are up market anyway.

Visited here to meet a friend for lunch. The receptionist/greeter seemed annoyed that she had to look up from her phone and then proceeded to place me in the worst seat in the restaurant. When I asked for a window table (that seated four) she said it wasn't possible despite the place being half empty in case a party of four came in. Horrible surly attitude. Told them that I was waiting for my friend but that didn't stop them asking me if I wanted to order three times. When I did the food was very average. Wouldn't go back.

Went for lunch - only bagels in the bar - not bagels - round hard bread rolls - dodgy stomach later - probably hygiene in ice. No wonder next door is queued out and this is quiet. Unacceptable for CW

Good and cheerful service all round from staff. The dinner was enjoyable although there were a couple of snags. My dessert was served not fully thawed out (was replaced promptly with another choice) and my husband's steak was rather sinewy. (he does love a good steak!). The Malbec red was spot on.

Came here for my friends birthday, the food was nothing special. I was so angry that I paid 35 for the surf and turf (steak and prawns). The steak was dry despite having it medium well. The prawn was also very dry with no seasoning or taste. Would I ever visit again???.. the answer from me is NO. There are loads of other places in Canary Wharf with better service and food!!!

Have been in their New York restaurants and have passed Smollenskys in Canary Wharf many times, but sampled it for the first time recently - wish I hadn't....

The restaurant had a £12.99 steak frites and Malbec offer and a friend and I enjoyed a leisurely lunch,with excellent service. The meal could have been hotter, but the cooking was good, as was the accompanying salad. Worth checking out for further offers at this restaurant

Had dinner here with my girlfriend and we both went for the steak chips and glass of malbec for £12.50. Was good value and will return. Peanut butter cheesecake for dessert was also a winner.

Visited on a Saturday evening and to be honest wasn't busy at all so we thought we would get great service. Because of reading the reviews before hand I ordered a medium rare steak which I would never normally do. I normally order medium anyway the steak came medium which was fine. When ordering a member of our party asked how many prawns came with the surf n turf and was told 9 on 2 skewers. The person had asked because of the reviews so she asked the server "is she sure"? And was told yes definitely 2 skewers. When the order arrived it only arrived with 2 prawns, when questioned about this the server replied " it doesn't matter",obviously it did otherwise we wouldn't of enquired. Another member of the party order a brandy and coke and was charged for a double. When we questioned this we were told " it is standard that when you order a alcoholic beverage your automatically given a double" this is obviously unacceptable if not told as this could lead to be over the limit if driving. All in all a poor experience with staff that have a negative attitude. Would not go here again and wouldn't recommend

Visited here early evening on a weekday on a business trip. It was very quiet. Asked to be seated with a view and the waitress stumbled saying that as I wouldn't be long then she could allow it........ Ordered a steak. Was nothing to write home about, in fact very fatty and chewy. Experience overall was ok, think I was done, dusted and out of the door in about 30 minutes! wont return.
