Have eaten at this place many times over the years and think the quality has rapidly gone down hill. Ordered the lasagna which I have had 3 times over the years, the portion size of this dish is ridiculous it's got 2 layers plus the top. Barely any meat or sauce in it. I think an asda savers one is better. Not good value for money and would not be happy paying full price if it wasn't on the 2 for £16. Partner had the sausage and mash, the sausages were not good quality definitely not a butchers sausage and the mash was sloppy. Considering there is a lack of eateries in Rochdale town centre they really should up their game. Although maybe they feel they don't need to because of this. Will not bother eating here again.

Absolutely disgusting food. Asked for our steaks to be cooked medium. Both came out not medium, not medium rare, not rare..But RAW!! Sent it back to be re cooked and it still came back out rare. Extra 2.50 for peppercorn sauce that was essentially just milk and flower. Everything was bland and the kids burgers were pink! Sack the chef! £80 down the drain!

I have not stayed here but have been for food three times, under pressure, and each time the food has been awful, the last time 3 weeks ago, to say the food was inedible is an under statement, never again, in fact 3 ladies declined to order food and left after seeing myself and friends food, it really was vile, the so called home made soup was disgusting, a pile of mush, as was the sticky toffee pudding, we couldn't eat any of the food, as it was all horrible. I would not advise anyone to eat there.

I had a truly horrible and upsetting experience here. Whilst the cask and craft beers available was fantastic, i had a drunken off-duty member of staff steal my drink from right next to me, physically threaten me, before throwing a bar stool across the pub. Whilst the other members of staff tried to placate me with a free half pint, this out of control idiot was not address at all, just allowed to rampage around the pub being angry. A miserable end to what had been a decent evening. Absolutely never stepping foot in here again.

A booking for 5 people at 6-30 taken when the kitchen closed at 7 only told this when we ordered, we were then told because the kitchen closed at 7 that starters & mains would be served at the same time, some of the mains arrived a good while before &were half eaten before the starter arrived, I ordered vegetable soup to start which arrived after some of the others had finished. The vegetable soup? Can only be described as dissolved stock cubes with lumps of soggy bread in (definitely not croutons) no sign of any vegetables & a little watercress on top it tasted disgusting.

Dined here late afternoon with a dear friend both seeking sanctuary and comfort in the warmth far from the bleak, ominous doldrums of the new year. Not one - but two real wood fires lay in waiting along with a cheery greeting and some very slouchy seating. Soon we were relaxing fireside supping into our deliciously thirst-quenching Lilley's fruit ciders of Somerset. Bliss! My friend who had only recently discovered this venue was rewarded with my own compliment that our stroll from the interchange through the biting bitter wind was well worth it. After a quick scan of the menu food was soon being presented to us - cooked to order we were assured - and very pleasing on the eye and senses it all was. Superb bar food delivered to a high standard and very easy on the wallet if not the waistline. Ha! 2024 resolutions can wait! Simple but delish’ garlicky cheesy bread was shared then to follow cheese pie with side of dirty fries and a fish dish for my friend. Every carb loaded mouthful was exceptionally perfect compelling us to comment then and there that The Flying Horse will be hosting our next rendezvous catch up next time. Very pleased all round - many thanks to the team that served and cooked for us. Back for round 2 very soon!

Returned this weekend with the Mrs after thouroughly enjoying the amazing Sunday Roast a couple of weeks earlier. Pleased to say as good as ever. Huge portion presented as a stacked tower with the standard Yorkshire pud on top which as you break it down reveals little surprises such as Sausage and bacon alongside the beef. If you are someone who goes for perfect presentation maybe not for you but if you you love good old fashioned Engliish Pub Fayre you'll struggle to beat this anywhere - £9 One Course, £12 2 course and £14 3 course washed down with some nice Cilean Mrlot at £12 a bottle. A no brainer in my opinion!!

We decided to go to the Flying Horse for Sunday dinner with the family we have been there B4 for drinks and found it to be a nice pub but had not eaten the till today the menu looks quite appealing and offers quite a good range of food from Sunday specials like roast dinners to the usual pizza burger and chips. The service from the staff was quite prompt and friendly as it always has been there and there was plenty of space in and around where we were sat the pub has quite a nice atmosphere. My two children ordered the garlic bread with cheese for starters which was quite large and perfect size for the two of them to share it wasn't very garlicky but had plenty of cheese on and they seemed to enjoy it quite a lot because some of us ordered separately the meals came at slightly different times but to be honest we didn't stayed we wanted them all at the same time so it did not bother us too much there were a few of us who went for the roast dinner option and whilst the plates seemed quite generous in terms of portion I noticed that the gravy had already been put on the dinner where as I believe I'm much better option would be to bring gravy boats to the table for customers to put on their own amounts the gravy was tasty but was only warm and there wasn't enough of it.

An old friend was having an engagement party here and I wouldn't recommend it. The room was big enough and the bar staff was friendly, however I have two problems. 1) The room was freezing. 2) we was due to have pie, chips and peas. When the food came out there was only pie and peas. My friends dad is celiac so could only have chips which there was none of. When I asked if there was chips the man said no. So I went and asked my friend who said her fiancé had ordered them I went up to him and he said yes I asked for chips. When we went back to the cook his reply was " no, I didn't get asked to do chips. I only got told about this at the start of my shift at half 7" now in there favour they did say " shall I make you some?" And I replied " yes as her dad is celiac he can't have the pie. " to which they did make him some but for them to of been asked and they not delivered what was asked in the first place there lucky it wasn't my party I would of make more of a stink about it. Or if he didn't get told until he came on shift that's bad practice as we got told the party was there well in advanced so am sure they booked it well in advanced. I know I wouldn't book anything here. However downstairs is big and a nice atmosphere.

We ended up parking in a different car park to our intended one when we spotted The Flying Horse which we thought looked rather cosy for lunch. Lovely and welcoming inside, helped by the open fires. Menu varied and well priced with calorie count as well. Great range of real ales including some from independent local brewers. Reasonably priced wines. We both had home made cheese & onion pie, chips and beans for £6.75 which arrived speedily and was very tasty indeed. I didn't finish all the chips as was rather full but my friend soon ensured they were not thrown away. If I could have eaten it all I would but I Friendly waiter checked how the food was both during our meal and when clearing our table and I really felt he wanted genuine feedback. Other customers also received their food in reasonably good time and it had evidently been freshly cooked. I must say I would certainly go here again if I happen to be in Rochdale again.

I'm really struggling to give this place over a 3? The main reason being, that I see the whole package and not just the food? Perhaps I had come at a particularly bad time? The place just seem to be full of unsavoury types, and general alcoholics?! Having said all this the food its self was pretty good, service fairly good too. Maybe its just the locality of the Flying Horse which is an issue, it is after all right in the centre of Rochdale! I'll say no more!

Myself and a friend go out for Tuesday Tea Club. The Flying Horse is a fantastically run pub, the staff are warm, welcoming, friendly and the menu is not too fussy, has special offers like the Love Rochdale weekly deal and also a changeable weekly specials board. The venue is clean and tidy with a wide range of guest ales etc. On this occasion, we sampled the Mixed Grill....and it was AMAZING, cooked to perfection it had an egg and black pudding on (this is something most places omit or charge extra for), a stack of onion rings and a tin mug of chips. The presentation made it taste even better! I love mixed grill and believe me, iv had some leather boot ones! This was FAB! The chef even came out to enquire if everything was ok! Which it most certainly was!Added bonus was that they do a quiz night on a Tuesday....so we stayed for that too!The other items on the menu looked very inviting and due to what is possibly one of the best services I've had, will deffo recommend and be going back! This pub has fantastic views and warm and inviting inside ... it gets 3 stars just because it's dog friendly.. I decided to have the famous cheese & onion pie meal and wow that was a let down it was so soggy obviously just heated in a microwave I only ate it as not to offend my guest ... shame really as the pub it's self is nice n cosy .. and dog friendly thats always a plus .. the gravey was tasty tho..

This is a lovely pub that serves great food. The pub is cosy and not pretentious in any way. We love the fish and chip supper on a Friday evening - great quality flaky fish in batter, superb chips, mushy peas and bread and butter - all for £19 for 2 people - what’s not to like? A great end to the working week.

Visiting the Touchstones Art Gallery we stopped for drinks and snacks. Good selection of teas, iced mocha was great and came in an interesting mason jar with a handle. Single use plastic straws were out of sync with a vegetarian menu. Good soup and bread and other dishes on other peoples tables looked good.

A delicious coffee, smooth and more than strong enough, served in a big mug was just the start I needed. Some usual choices on the Breakfast menu, from Bacon barms and toasted teacakes, through to some specials. I had the Petit Café scrambled egg special. This was eggs tossed with mushrooms, ham (or salmon), 3 types of onions and spinach, alongside a slice of toast. Healthy and delicious, and only £5.50. The Petit Café has Polish roots, as seen from the lovely, friendly lady behind the counter, cooking up a dream of a breakfast, through to the delicious Pierogi dumplings in 3 flavours. For us, these are a reminder of a lovely holiday in Krakow, and we will be back to enjoy. Add in their loyalty card and good prices, and it should ensure big things for this little café.

I was one of a group of walkers who popped into the Hopwood Arms for drinks after a 4 mile walk around the Slattocks area of Middleton. We were welcomed and served with a smile.
