I live in Dereham and have visited this lovely place a few times now. I managed to grab a too good to go bag earlier this week and even the value and quality in there was amazing. I'm Questioning why I'm actually putting this on here as they go in seconds and I don't want to limit my chances of getting one even further! But, yes, absolutely lovely staff, stunning food and a convenient location! I am a fan.

When our order arrived there had been a mix up. Even though I was clear about what I ordered and my wife had also heard me do so, the person dealing with it loudly insisted I was wrong, backing up the person behind the till who had made the error. It seemed it was all about denying any mistake as opposed to responding to a minor problem in a professional way. The food was actually very nice.

We arrived at 4.15pm on a Saturday. Cafe closed at 4.30pm. We asked for coffee but were told that they had already turned the coffee machine off. We asked for tea and also ordered some cookies. We Sat down and were served tea in takeaway cups and cookies in paper bags. No China mugs, plates, napkins as the other cafe visitors had. It was obvious that the staff wanted us out as soon as possible. In fact they clearer up around us. We left at 4.25pm with our takeaway cups and the cafe was closed behind us. Apart from this unwelcoming service we noticed that the food counters were swarming with wasps and flies so probably not a good place to eat anyway. The tea and cookies were nice enough. Would not return.

Popped in for a quick coffee and cake whilst on holiday in Norfolk. We had visited the Potter Heigham store several times before so was pleased to see a familiar store whilst visiting Dereham. Same great service and friendly staff. Great selection of bread and cakes. Opted for Belgian bun and wasn’t disappointed. Even picked some up to take home along with some delicious sausage rolls. Looking forward to our next FAB visit.

Having used this establishment on numerous occasions, with its pleasant staff and lovely cakes. I decided to take my parents for a cuppa and a cake. The girl (with the top knot, whom I’ve never come across before), I would say young lady but that describes a female who is personable, who served us was brash, impatient and overall rude. When taking our order she barked and talked over us and grumpily called our drinks order to her colleague and walked off before we’d finished ordering the drinks. Obviously she heard my comments about her rude manner, as I don’t mince my words or whisper my disappointment, and either mentioned it to her older blonde colleague making the drinks, I believe she may be called Sharon, as when Sharon brought the drinks to the table she plonked then down with no smile, more like a bulldog chewing on a wasp, and barked what the drinks were and walked off. Our cakes were not brought over. We waited and eventually had to ask for our cakes. The first girl who took the order brought them to our table and and didn’t even speak and just plonked them all in front of me!!!I’m very disappointed by this visit and won’t be coming back to the establishment again. Some customer focused training wouldn’t go amiss.

Came in earlier today around 2pm, we were 'greeted' by a staff memeber with an iPad shoved infront of her face. Didn't put it down to serve or even say hello. There was a gentleman in the back who eventually came out to serve us, all the while this other staff memeber was just stood, right at the front of the counter, on the ipad. Incredibly rude, I work in customer service and if I dared do that I would be sacked faster than I could count to 1. Tried to ask a question which was ignored as obviously technology is more important nowadays than customers? If you need to be on it so badly, go out the back and do so, never infront of paying customers. Ordered a piece of cake, supposedly meant to be chocolate and caramel, but tasted like just plain generic cake, absolutley no flavour what so ever. Dissappointing as other visits here have been good.

I went for the soup, asked for no bread but got it anyway. A bit disappointed by the small soup size especially since I didn't want the bread - still got charged, I'd say no more than 4 tablespoons. The takeaway sandwiches and cakes looked very good. A small cafe with half a dozen or so tables, good management she seemed to be on point, all but some tables were getting neglected - there is not a lot of choice in Dereham so quality wise its up there in a non competitive market. It is the sort of place thats ok to go solo - coffee looks ok, but I went for a nice pot of tea again not the biggest.

I have been going to the Flour and Bean now for some time now and I felt I should put pen to paper as you would say.Be it for just a cup of coffee or a meal the service is always good. Who ever serves you there is always a smile that says, Welcome. With their large range of meals and sandwiches, if by chance you want something different they are happy to make it for you. your order is delivered to your table inside or if you wish outside as you watch the world go by. Your Manager.A very active young lady who is aware of what is going on in her shop .Her smile and mannerism makes you feel at ease and a knowledge that she leads from the front.Due to her I now buy their freshly baked bread. quite a cozy little bakery but how difficult can it be to operate the till? Most people who visit will be nipping in for a lunch break and just don't have the time to stand around for literally minutes while the girls - some have been there a while - try to work out how much something is, and then worse, try to enter it on the till. So okay to visit, but not if you're impatient - like me!

Only just got trip adviser to write this review to warn people about this place! The owners should be ashamed of themselves, i came in here with my sister and mother to have some lunch and I was made to feel so unwelcome by a German woman who sighed after I said something or every order I placed, when it was served the plates were dirty and the salad was dry with no dressing....I also had the 'chicken' coronation sandwich with no chicken served in between the driest bread I have ever tasted. My sausage roll that my mother had was burnt at the bottom and had no Apple in the specifically asked 'pork and apple sausage roll, and the fact that some of the staff were rude. The only lady wasn't was the blonde one, I think she said her name was Kate?! Who made us feel welcome, had conversation with us and always seemed to be smiling with the customers. Just such a shame I was greeted and treated rudely by the others. Such a shame as I used to love this place but it's gone so downhill. Floor looked absolutely filthy as well.

Back in Norfolk for a family occasion was the perfect excuse to pop into my favourite coffee shop, having throughly enjoyed the experience last year.We didn't recognise a single member of staff from last time, which was a shame as they were all lovely, instead we were greeted by a very abrupt and grumpy lady with a heavy German accent.Whilst placing my order with her she was talking to someone else at the same time which I found very rude, and there was no welcoming feeling at all.I ordered 2 flat white coffees for my husband and I, the children had juice cartons. The coffee was good, although warm not hot.We all had sausage rolls which looked very pale and were soggy underneath, not very nice.Compared to our visit last year this was a huge disappointment as what was a fantastic little coffee shop with happy staff and delicious food seems to be the complete opposite.A real shame.

We were attracted in by the board outside offering a hog roast roll for £3.50. It had only just gone 12.30 at lunchtime and yet there was only enough of this meal left for one of us. It's pretty poor to run out so early on in the day. We didn't have to wait long to be served, which was a good thing, although the staff completely forgot about one of the coffees on our order - we had to chase this up ourselves. Due to it being the last dregs they had, the hog roast roll was full of the crackling parts. Not exactly what we had in mind. The meal came with a salad on the plate but no cutlery was provided to eat it with. We then discovered that the £3.50 price advertised on the board outside was only the takeaway price. Nowhere was this stated. Overall a very poor experience and we will not be visiting again.

On a corner near the market place almost opposite its larger rival Greggs it can certainly hold its own. Normally friendly helpful staff, a warm welcoming light interior, window seats that provide the perfect place for people watching and snacks light meals and drinks to suit most tastes. The sausage rolls are particularly good for a start to the day with a latte and let yourself be tempted to a slice of cake or a pastry you won't be disappointed. Soup and sandwiches for lunch and takeaway some ot their delicious bread for tea. The last time I was there on a wet afternoon thinking I had plenty of time before they closed I saw seats available through the window went in only to be told half an hour before closing that that part of the restaurant had been cleaned and was closed disappointed I walked out and acoss the road "David lost to Goliath" on that day.

have been in here about 6 times for coffee and a light lunch. Sadly the last, two visits have not been as good as previous times. I had a prawn and salad roll which was absolutely tasteless and the bread was dry so I left most of that. The coffee was OK. What did bother me though was the very grubby and slimey cutlery we were given. It honestly looked like dirty ones had been given to us by mistake. I didn't say anything as the shop was busy and there only appeared to be one girl working at the front of the shop. Luckily I had a plastic spoon in my bag which I used. I don't know whether they've cut down on staff but the general cleanliness of the cafe area was not good and tables were left for far too long before they were cleared. Our food and drinks arrived very promptly, the coffees were amazing (flat whites) and the food was delicious. Me and my husband had a hog roast baguette and shared a Cornish pasty and pork and apple sausage roll and the children had sausage rolls and cookies.Flour and bean Cornish pastry's are to die for, as are the pork and apple sausage rolls which I had never had before. We also had some freshly made cheese scones which had just come out of the oven which were gorgeous.During our visit, kate and her team couldn't of done enough for us, and you can see how hard they all work but so lovely to see it done with a smile.A truly enjoyable experience and we will definitely be back.

Stopped in here today with my step-daughter for a bite to eat. I have visited here before, and have found the baked goods really good, and the food generally so. In today's visit I found the experience average for a coffee shop/bakery cafe. The dining area is a bit cramped with small round tables and metal/plastic combo chairs. The background music which was pop was a little on the loud side for conversation. The service was okay with the order placed at the till, and food brought to the table. The staff did seem a little over stretched though. We had a tuna panini (which was served with potato wedges and some mixed salad) and a jacket potato (served with crisps and a side salad). The potato was good sized (but slightly over cooked but nonetheless good). The coffee was a little bitter in tone, but okay.Once again this is a good place for a quick bite, not extravagant by any means, but with nice pastry. It is by virtue of the baked goods that I give the food a 4 rating.

I agree with previous reviews about setting and facilities - all great. We had visited on previous occasions and always enjoyed the experience. However I am guessing that we caught the Bedingfeld Arms at their leist desired serving time, and definitely on an off day. Our timing was for 6.30pm on Sunday 10th of November. Upon arrival, which was fortunately slightly early, we were shown to our table and advised that we had seven minutes to order, and that 60% of the menu was not available. We had not been advised prior to our arival (they had our phone number) of the tight timing or lack of menu items. Food was ordered - 3 burgers and one Pheasant dish as this was all they had. Upon arrival of the food the waitress, who was clearly under pressure from the front of house lady and the Chef, was dealing with who had what relish for which burger etc... when the front of house lady came over and lambasted the waitress saying something about the Chef needing to be informed propery - no idea what that was about, but it was seriously cringeworhty and unprofessional to have been holding that conversation in front of us. We duduced that the Chef was the worry for the staff at front of house, and it seemed that he and the kithcn staff just didn't want to be there. The food was good, and the waitress and bar staff extremely pleasant - they were apologising for the Chef and the restrictions to our meal - which gave us a good idea of where the pressure and unpleasant atmosphere was coming from. I have written directly to the Bedingfeld Arms via there website, but as of two weeks later I have had no reply. Seeing all of the other reviews, which mirror my previous experience, I would just recommend avoiding a Sunday evenings.

My mother and I arrived for lunch on Saturday. Firstly we were shown to a dirty table, rings from cups and salt or possibly sugar. As my mother has a walker and had taken her coat off and sat down I didn’t ask to be moved but cleaned the table myself with antibacterial wipes I always carry. We ordered drinks and food which you have to pay for upfront so no opportunity to refuse to pay. The drinks arrived, one of which was a bottle of water but no glass. I asked for a glass which the waiter came back with. The glass was dirty. I waited until the food arrived and asked for a clean glass. No apology was given for bringing me a dirty one. My mother had loaded fries at £11. Well I could see the crispy onions, crispy because they were those dried ones you buy in tubs in the supermarket, but no sign of any cheese. I started to eat my bacon, Brie and red onion chutney panini. Well I had bacon. I looked inside for the Brie. There was a sort of stain which was obviously the Brie. I’ve never managed to cut a slice of Brie that thin myself, I suspect they could see through it when they lifted it up. As for the chutney, I found a few soggy bits of tasteless brown stuff. I noticed my mother poking her chips about and asked her what she was doing, she said ‘looking for the cheese’. I asked if she’d found any and she said ‘not really’. She pushed the bowl away and said her legs were cold. We had been sat in front of the entrance and the draft was awful. I asked her if she wanted to go and she was out of her chair faster than I’ve seen someone of 88 move in a long time. All in all a most unpleasant lunch. £11 for a bowl of chips and dried onion, and £10.50 for a bacon roll. Very poor indeed.

Service very poor. Arrived on a coach which was pre booked with garden centre. Order taken quickly as we were the first ones off of coach but then waited 45 min for food and coffee. Did complain was told you were not first (they lied) as being a table of 9 we know we got in early, table's that arrived after us got their food before us. Others on coach had to have their food and drinks as take away as they took too long to serve. Staff rude and unhelpful.
