Flatbread is hands down one of the best Turkish restaurants in Edinburgh. From the moment you walk in, the warm and welcoming service makes you feel right at home. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. The lahmacun and pide are absolutely delicious – perfectly baked with just the right balance of spices and toppings. You can really taste the authenticity in every bite. But the real surprise? The Turkish baklava. It’s not your typical overly sweet version you find in some Middle Eastern markets. This is the real deal, straight from Turkey – flaky, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. A perfect way to end the meal. If you're looking for authentic Turkish flavors in a cozy and friendly atmosphere, Flatbread is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back!

Great food and friendly service

A great value cafe in Haymarket that does amazing Pide!! A very welcoming and cosy cafe, greeted with friendly staff who make you feel at home. I got the Kuşbaşılı Pide which was cooked with love and you could really taste how all the flavours work together. So filling and such a good price, could easily do two or three of you. What was even better to see was how pro Palestinian they are! Taking great pride in sharing and showcasing the Palestinian people and cause. This is a location you can come and get your Zaytoun products from, and know you’re in safe hands with people who’s conscious and soul are on the right side!

Amazing food, great atmosphere!

We had the iftar menu. The lentil soup was packed with flavour and the bread was warm and pillowy soft. The classic lahmacun was authentic and pide was great too. We were almost too full for the superb baklava served with clotted cream.

Back in January my wife, baby daughter and I went here for lunch. We chanced our luck and didn’t book and thankfully we were able to get a table without issue. There was just enough space to navigate the buggy. We were pleased to see the sign on the toilets to say baby changing facilities. However, this is false information because when you go in there is absolutely no facility for baby changing. Thankfully we were in no desperate need to change her nappy but if she had done a number 2 we would’ve have to of left. Anyway, our main server was very friendly and the others were fine. Our baby sat in the buggy whilst we ate but we weren’t offered a high chair, I am assuming because they didn’t have any. Our waiter was captivated by our daughter just as much as she was of him. As much as it was nice that he was interacting with her we felt he was a bit too much, especially after he started touch and kissing her hands. I mean, I know she is cute, but that’s a little too far. We don’t know you. My wife was straight to the hand wipes which was maybe unnecessary but you never know what he’s been touching. The menu has a lot of fillings for different flatbreads. We opted for a flat bread each and shared what I think is called a Shawarmacun (could be wrong). The flat breads were enjoyable and at a fair price. I have never had something like this before so I have nothing to compare it to. Is it better than a pizza - no, but very nice nonetheless. The Shawarmacun was fine but not as tasty. My wife was gutted that they ran out of the garlic mayo so we got the chilli and the minted yogurt. The chilli was surprisingly hot. I was looking to try the authentic Salgam Suyu but I was told by a different waiter that I shouldn’t get that because it requires an acquired taste and not many people like it. I was like “eh okay, I’ll have a glass of water then.” We shared a baklava for desert which was pretty good but I’ve had far better textured and tasty baklavas before. It was a decent portion size so that’s good. Overall we felt that it was reasonably priced. The food was nice but weren’t blown away and the service needs touched up. They should remove the baby changing sign because they shouldn’t advertise something they don’t have.

It offers halal food.. worth a try

Visited here on the day of the Six Nations rugby so expected it to be busy..we had to wait 10 mins for a table which was fine. I had chicken pesto flatbread and my wife had minced meat and cheese flatbread..plenty of ingredients but we both felt let down by the lack of flavour..maybe just us but we were expecting more. Their cakes looked delicious but we decided against buying any after our flatbread. Will certainly visit again and try something different because they must be doing something right as it was busy.

Very successful place with pastries, especially borek was amazing. I definitely recommend it for both breakfast and dinner. Also, the staff is friendly and kind.

I didn't like the coffee at all, I would say it was over-roasted. What was disappointing were the desserts, see photo. I would compare the chocolate to congealed fat, and the pistachio could barely smell the pistachio. Prices match Edinburgh.

It was great. The attention of the staff, the taste of the food and the prices were very satisfactory. I was very happy to have access to Turkish breakfast.

The staff is very nice, friendly and smiling. The dishes they brought us were really excellent, we took typical Turkish dishes, a Turkish tea and a chai tea latte. Plus, what we ordered included bread! A delicious sandwich cut into triangles. All delicious. The place was very modern, with a room a little far from the entrance where the temperature was great. The prices are a little high for us Italians but average. The food which is the most important thing is excellent!!

Quality of food rated 6/10 Worst shawarma and worst lahmacun ever tried. Asked for recyclable cutlery never received in the bag. Did not get paper tissues. I paid for my baklava with icecream , never got the icecream. Paid for tomatoes salad in my lahmacun as option available when ordered lahmacun, i know they usually have onions tomatoes and parsley on lahmacun if you want but got a cucumber tomatoes salad instead in a separate pot. Horrible. Shawarma had the same cucumber tomatoes salad which was not great...some kebab meat and a mayo homemade I think sauce. Too fatty and felt sick afterwards. The only good thing was the wrap used. That was delicious. They only look nice but that is it. Im big lover of turkish food and tried so many places over different countries and this was the worst. Baklava was not fresh and missed my ice cream. Overall i do not recommend. Horrible again.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat on way to the rugby. Very busy cafe, good food both sit in and take away. We had a couple of flat breads which were freshly baked while waited. Flat breads were very good as was the coffee. Will be back again.

We went to breakfast 2 mornings during our stay. It was very good, especially the potato and egg eggs were very good. The employees were sweet and friendly. I think it is one of the cleanest places you can find in Scotland, especially if you care about cleanliness and hygiene.

Overpriced for the products and quality. The service is good. (£4 for a small pot of salad, it’s shameful)

When I miss lahmacun (Turkish pizza) or pide (flatbread) the only place that makes me feel home:)

We were 3 people, one ordered a soft drink and a large bottle of water for the other two. They gave us a refilled glass bottle (probably from the tap) and charged us £15 for it… We were amazed but since it was our first day in Edinburgh we didn't know if that was normal. The following days we were able to verify that they put them FREE in the rest of the establishments!!!

Delicious Turkish breakfast. We ordered shakshuka with simit, 3 cheese pie, and 2 Turkish tea. I strongly recommend it.

Turkish restaurant. The breakfast is good. The menu is different from reality. There is no semolina or borek. The manakish is fresh and delicious

Delicious fkatbread for impromptu lunch

Went there for breakfast, we got cheese and sucuk toastie and beagle with chicken and pesto which were great, but £5 for a single sausage roll was a bit too much in my opinion.

The morning we were there, they were quite busy. So ordering takes some time. Food was delicious. Turkish coffee a bit small though..

We made a short stop here for coffee and something tasty. We were certainly not disappointed with the quality. The coffee is tasty and the cinnamon roll tasted very good. We would definitely come here again.

Food is tasty and of high quality.. Turkish tea is good too.. Loved that the place serves halal food. Servers aren't very attentive.. we ordered plates to eat in and we only received one.. we ordered a slice of lemon with our lahmacun and never received it too.. For some reason tea was served before the lahmacun and pide we have ordered..

All foods are delicious. We ate simit, menemen, hallomi cheese and borek with spinach. They serve borek with tomatoes, cucumber, two different cheese and olive. The place is so nice, calm, cozzy and clean. There are beautiful Turkish motif and books . There are a lot of variety of Turkish breakfast food in the menu, especially Turkish salty food. Highly recommended.

Great place to stop for lunch. Menu has plenty to choose from and the staff are friendly. Only thing missing is some chilli & garlic sauces served with the meal or on the table.

Went for breakfast with a small group - we had Mediterranean Breakfasts and some croissants - wow - it was all fantastic - freshly cooked bread and a veritable feast of fresh food. I wish I’d taken some photos.

The food was only fine, but the Baklava was genuinely the best I have ever had. Unfortunately, that does not make up for how horrendous this experience was. The staff wouldn't let us pay until the end of our meal and then made us tell him everything we got but yelled at us for misspeaking then told me my husband got a "coldbrew" which isn't even on the menu. All the food came out slow and cold, and the staff was rude during every interaction.

I loved the Cheese and Sucuk flatbread it was really good and we got to have a free one but it was because there was a bit of a misunderstanding but I think the desserts were a bit too expensive but the flatbreads prices were normal and it is a great place to go to eat.

Beautiful and they serve fresh pies I tried different types of sandwiches and they are good, but spinach is the best. I asked to replace the mozzarella cheese with feta cheese. The tea has a very mild taste, and its flavor is barely noticeable, unfortunately

I asked for a feta Borek and mentioned I am vegetarian. I then clarified it was only feta by asking if there was any meat in it. The staff member said no meat. I travelled the 20 minutes home to eat it ... Only to discover it was a meat Borek..! I wasted nearly £5 on something I couldn't eat, luckily I had cut into it before biting it or would have eaten meat. Disappointed and a waste of money!! Poor service.

A wonderful place. I used to have breakfast with them every day with delicious Turkish food and the waiter Nima, as well as an Indian waiter whose name I don’t know, Bashoushin.

Little bit short handed when I was there, forgot about our baklava, but for most of the time it was only one person making the food and serving it. When we got the baklava it was excellent!

We were looking for a halal restaurant to have breakfast in edinburgh and chanced onto this place. We had the flatbreads with dice lamb, and it was delicious. The freshly made bread was fluffy and not oily. The waitress was friendly and took pains to explain the menu to us. It's definitely a place to come to for halal food in Edinburgh

Great food, great people! Turkish breakfast is amazing!

I was extremely disappointed with my visit to Flatbread after it's recent refurb. I ordered the Börek plate and my wife ordered the 'Eggs and Potato'. My order was delivered to the table nearly 20 minutes before my wife's, leaving me either to eat alone, or wait for my food to go cold. When the rest of the order eventually arrived the 'basket of bread' with the 'Eggs and Potato' was two sad halves of a roll. The 'Eggs and Potato' itself, they'd managed to burn the potatoes to the copper pot. There was no cheese on it, the potatoes were not seasoned, and there was no flavour to it at all. We complained and pointed it out to staff when paying and leaving but they were supremely unconcerned. No apologies were offered. I won't be back.

Our favorite resto in Edinburgh during our recent trip. We had the donair pide and lahmacun and both were top notch. Think their rating justifies the quality unlike the other restos we've tried. 10/10 will come back again.

I came across this place looking for somewhere for breakfast while staying nearby. Thought a Turkish breakfast would make a change. The simit plate with cheese, olives, tomato and cucumber was good but could have had more than one small wedge of cheese. Coffee was average. So overall a bit disappointing. Decor and general aesthetic was poor. Felt that the place was not operating to its full potential

Literally the best food I’ve had In Edinburgh ever. Probably the best Turkish bakery I’ve had in the UK so far. The food tastes amazing, served hot, great portion for very fair prices. Had simit, pide and lahmucaun. The staff are really nice as well and the atmosphere is calm and nice. The place is clean as well. As someone who knows Turkish food very well, I approve of this place. Everything was really great, this is my new favorite place and I’ll definitely be coming back very frequently. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Lahmacun, pitas and sadwich were prepared with really high quality ingredients and cooked well. I especially liked the lahmacun. The ambiance of the shop bears traces of our culture and is very warm and the hygienic conditions are very good. Apart from these, Cevdet Usta's pleasant conversation and warm conversation were really very sincere and sincere. He made us feel like we were in Turkey by offering us tea after the meal. I would recommend it to anyone who happens to be in Edinburgh due to its location, close to Dean Village.

Nice people but to be honest the presentation of the food was not what I expected.The tea was not great either .They need to know what a full English breakfast is and serve that as 2 eggs on a hot plate with warm bread and chopped up tomatoes on a piece of wood with some olives is not for me .

The prices are a little higher than the Edinburgh average, but the products are very delicious and beautiful. Its baklava, pastry, lahmacun and pita are very delicious. It is recommended. Go and try it.

The owner is aggressive, awful , rude . Paid £7 for an old sweet . The restaurant is always empty. Report to food hygiene service for old smelly ingredients. Was charged double. No refund. Don't come here. It's a rip off. You are a Liar and making up stories. I used many times this restaurant . It is not the first time. And we were double charged. I asked many times to change the sweets because they were old . Yes you are THIEVES because you double charged me for a bill not once not twice. I'm not surprised because the way you sloke to me seems you are a delinquent not a business. And if I didn't pay like you said why would you let in a customer who didn't pay ? You are lying to cover yourself. I used more than 20 times that restaurant how can I not pay ? Last week ? I haven't been there since 2 months?!

Popped in for a halal breakfast and it didn’t disappoint scrambled egg and garlic sausage was just right not too strong or too bland could have done with more to be honest finally to finish was the baklava wow best one iv had yet! Need more jobs to Scotland so I can try more of the menu.
