We visited there today after a wet walk to grab something to eat. We had a rather rude greeting by the person behind the counter, she seemed exasperated that we weren't making our choices quick enough. We decided on some cakes, the other lady that bagged them up was polite and nice, but the initial woman was rude and surly. She then proceeded to overcharge me, I didn't register with me straight away that she had. She smirked when she gave me my change. It was upon reflection that I realised that not only had she over charged me, her attitude towards me and my children wasn't really acceptable. I did go back to confront her, she was still being rude and refused to own up to her actions. She made a rather lame excuse about why she over charged me and she was very hostile. The worst part was, that she tried to serve the guy behind me first and didn't even apologise for doing so, she is a vile woman. I would avoid going to this place if you can. She obviously had a problem with me, but couldn't own up to it. Suffice to say, if I ever visit the area again, I will avoid this place like the plague.

We were staying in Flash so visited here a few times, had breakfast three mornings and can’t fault it. You can chose exactly what you want and the prices are great for the quality of produce. We bought their huge cobs for lunch too, a bit tricky to get your mouth round, not an elegant eat! The pork pies were also delicious! They accommodated us cheerfully, a large group of 6 adults, 3 small children and 2 dogs!

Visited today for late breakfast, heard the food was good, which it was. But the experience was let down by rude miserable staff and a dog that wouldn't leave us alone while we were trying to eat. I am a dog lover, but wouldn't allow my own dog to beg whilst I was eating, so I wouldn't expect it in a food establishment. The dog was literally panting all over us as we were trying to eat. Not good and at no point did the staff call the dogs way. The woman that cooked our food and brought it over really needs to go on a customer service course, and was it really such a big deal that we changed our minds and decided to eat in? After all, it was still being cooked.I hope they take these comments on board, as if we'd been greeted with a smile and a little bit of friendliness it would of been a perfect stop off.

Its great to have somewhere for a coffee and a flapjack or a bacon and mushroom sandwich either before you start or when you come down from the hills. Never seen any hint of rudeness from either the new or the old owners...and that black labrador is soft as a brush!!

Met here with four others on a Sunday morning. Three of us had bought coffee and food and we were all sat at a table whilst a fourth was inside buying food and a drink. One of the group was standing up rummaging through his bag looking for his hat and whilst he did took he took a small hard boiled egg out and ate it as he was still standing. A man (assume the owner) shot out of the cafe and barked aggressively at him “don’t eat your own food at my tables” then shot back inside. We were really taken aback as there was really no need to be so rude and confrontational. The 4th person in our group came out of the cafe with his purchases and reported that the man (cafe owner) had made some really derogatory comments about our hard boiled egg eating felon to him and other customers that had shocked them. We continued eating and drinking our purchases and I showed the group a little tub of foraged berries and nuts I was using for a talk later. I offered everyone a blackberry. Two of the group took one (one being the egg eater). The man shot out of the door immediately, whacked him on the back and shouted really aggressively “I’ve told you not to eat your own food at my tables”. Before we could react he shot back inside. It was pretty horrible and really upset my friend who is a pretty gentle soul who would never in a million years treat someone how he was treated. We finished our food and drinks and left. I understand they don’t want people using their tables for full on picnics but we’d bought quite a bit of drinks and food between us spending £30+ and for God’s sake it was a tiny boiled egg and a berry eaten whilst he was standing up next to the rest of us who were sat down eating our purchased food. Regardless there’s no excuse for bullying behaviour like this. In these times of Covid as a business owner he really shouldn’t be physically touching customers or getting in their faces. No excuse at all.

We stayed at a cottage very nearby so visited the stores a few times over the week. They will cook a breakfast of whatever size you want and it was excellent! Cakes and pastries all top notch too. Definitely try one of their enormous cob rolls.Virus-safe environment although it can get busy in the middle of the day as it's a popular stop-off for walkers, cyclists and bikers.Friendly staff and terrific service. Also a fab friendly black labrador (Indy) that owns the place :D Definitely worth stopping for.

Dad had bacon butty. Said best he had had in yearsMum and I had some homemade pies warmed up. Just lovely. The meat the pastry We then topped it up with Bread and butter pudding bag with custard. (Dad now even happier) Lemon drizzle and a cream scone. Defiantly give it a go

This is a funny little store and cafe just off a main A road in the Peak District. We were looking for a local breakfast and were recommended to come here. There isn’t a lot of outdoor seating but we found somewhere and we had a delicious selection of cooked breakfast, sausage baps and bacon baps between us. Great tea too! Service is a little brusque but I think that’s because they were busy.We also bought some Peak Pasties and took them home for dinner, delicious!

I encourage my young kids - (adults now) to support these out of the way places so was a bit disappointed by the lack of a smile etc, both yesterday afternoon for snacks and early this morning for tobacco.

Have used this establishment once a year for the last three years. Only stopped because of the amount of motorbikes outside, and realized that this was a well known meeting point for them. We were definitely not disappointed. Not a place to stop if you're in a hurry mind. Service at the Till is rather slow but, if time isn't a problem, it's well worth the wait. The food was very good. The 'bathroom' facilities are not the most luxurious that you'll find in the western hemisphere but are functional. Will definitely be visiting again.

It's difficult to find a decent breakfast in the local area these days, but look no further than the cafe in Flash Bar Stores. From £6-8 for a beast of a breakfast, with fried bread, and black pudding, along with 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage and beans. Mopped up with a generous serving of toast and a fried Derbyshire oatcake, all washed down with a massive mug of tea. I forgot to order mushrooms, and skipped tomatoes but extras are not expensive (pushing the price up to around £8 with everything) Alas only the hash brown was unavailable. I still didn't eat all day afterwards, contentedly full. They also serve lovely homemade or local cakes and scones, with a few deli items including pies, scotch eggs and locally sourced butter, milk, cheese and beer. The building's a bit rough and ready and it's on a fairly busy junction in a bleak but beautiful part of the Peak District (I live down the road). This however gives the place a real feel, complemented by the friendly and local staff (not Tubbs and Edward local, just the nice and talkative sort)
