Not a very friendly welcoming I received when at the bar to order some drinks. Glasses were dirty all the times I ordered & the staff didn't really care when I brought this matter up. Got overcharged for a round of drinks too. The attitude of the staff and management are very unprofessional. They are nothing but rude, vulgar & condescending to their customers. Avoid this place at all costs.

Just finished a staycation in Sunderland The staff at flanagans are truly amazing. We went in as customers and left has friends. The management team Annabelle and Thomas are the best. Bar staff Dom/ Graham and the rest of the team are fabulous they never stop giving us the vip treatment. Covid restrictions were in place and we felt comfortable and safe. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for making our time with you guys so special. Love ya all Tracy / Kenny / Carol / oggie 😘

3rd visit since reopening and this must be best vantage point in Sunderland. Greeted by same lovely polite cheerful young man each time and taken to a table. Served the best most perfect beer shandy in town and whisky and dry. No music today for some reason but sun streaming through open glass doors felt you were in beer garden. Forgot about the time, and decided to have tea there. Had tai fishcakes(3) with chilli sauce, and best home made chips in city, and believe me,ive sampled them all, being retired ex publicans/caterers,ourselves. My husband had a huge portion of fresh gammon and same chips nicely served by very pleasant young woman with fab tights... No pressure to order more, hurry up,or constant 'is everything alright with your meal' lark' On previous visit we just had (same drinks) and a northern irish party were sat behind so we were well entertained haha And on first visit we had paninis and chips.. granted a bit more expensive than your bog standard pub fayre but lovely food' good service' cheerful' smiling staff and great view. What more do you want.??? Sadly not much choice currently, in our delapidated city, for a pub tea, but this was great. It must be, if we've been back 3 tines. Dead handy too,as after spending £50 in Debenhams, we weren't allowed to use toilets!!! 1ts all about the customer service/experience. Please give this a try.

Mr Important, first name not very with the waistcoat and ego was openly talking about my friend as soon as we sat down, and his little minion on the bar was also looking and laughing. At least we gave them something to look at! Wont be back. The lad behind the bar was ok on first picture Dean I think he was called..

I had arranged to meet friends here although none of us had been before. One of my friends sent a text to say she had heard the food wasn't very good. Nevertheless we decided to go ahead.. One of us had fish & chips, one had a hot beef sandwich, I had Tuna and cheese panini with chips. Each of us thought the food good and well worth the money. The drinks were reasonably priced. Staff very friendly. We all said we would go back, although now we will have to wait until this virus is extinguished.

Went to go and see Baga Chipz tonight (who was absolutely fantastic). The venue however, was extremely crowded. The service at the bar was total crap. The staff only seemed to have one spirit measure and didn't bother washing it out. Wine tasted like a myriad of drinks... If this is the way they serve drinks, I dread to think what the food is like. Paid god knows what for my drink, as the bar maid didn't tell me the price, nor did she show me the amount on the card machine. Not the best experience for a first time visit. Wouldn't go again.

Unfortunately the bar service here has deteriorated massively. It must be costing the company a fortune. Had my friends not already ordered I would have left. Behind the bar were a number of staff but only 2 were serving customers at the bar. The remaining staff were all working at the bottom of the bar dealing with app orders. It's a very long bar and with only 2 staff working it they did not know who was next. People would walk up to the bar long after you'd stood there , and be served. I would have used the app myself but couldn't get a signal in the bar. Unfortunately the 2 staff serving were also extremely slow, despite there not being much of a queue. We waited ages to get served when there wasn't many people waiting, so on a busy night I wouldn't even bother. If you don't have the app or it's not working properly I'd give this bar a miss. It looked like a lot of other people felt the same as this once busy bar was noticeably quiet for a weekend night. Whoever is in charge of the bar needs to sort out proper training for the staff. I've never experienced service as bad as this in any other wetherspoons I've been in. If at all possible, use the app or you'll lose the will, watching other customers stroll to the bar while you wait, wait then wait some more

On a dog walk my friend and I decided to stop for a drink. I was impressed that there were plant based milks available. My dog was happy as he had a sausage. My hot chocolate (with oat milk) was nice and I enjoyed the view. The place is ideal if you’re near the beach and want to sit with a cuppa.

Called in for a couple of drinks as our cruise ship was alongside in Scrabster. Really quaint bar, lovely pint of Belhaven Best and my wife enjoyed her pino grigio. Two really pleasant young women behind the bar and friendly locals. 100% recomend this bar if you are in town. Thanks for making us feel welcome.
