Stopped by after reading about the relaunch online. Wanted to eat outside, but the tables and seating are not suitable for a meal. Maybe tea and cakes. Went inside and got a nice stout. Had the belly pork as a started. Nice presentation and good flavors. For my main, I had the burger. It tasted very good and was a good portion. It came with skinny chips and coleslaw. After an initial hiccup, service was good. The young bar staff are still learning. I hope the outdoor area gets better seating as it would be a great place to have a meal. Will come back.

The Place has had a relaunch as a chic cafe with delicious food. Long opening hours. Rather overpriced cups of tea, but I'm told the menu is still in development. A good place for a quiet chat and smart lunch.

Absolutely awful. The server was so rude that I walked out. No wonder the place was totally empty on a Friday lunch-time. Avoid.

We popped in for a quiet drink. For that occasion it was ideal, not very busy and no music. It's a beautiful building, with the brasserie being part of the Crown hotel. The interior is functional but underwhelming. The drinks selection is a little limited with a focus on the more generic drinks. The bar staff were friendly and polite. Worth dropping in if you just want a quiet place to chat and enjoy a drink.

I had a house salad with tuna steak, which was awful. The tuna steak was like salted sponge. There was too much rocket in salad. As for the service, the staff do not know what they were doing. It was not busy at all, but they served wrong drinks. And also it took nearly an hour to put food on our table.

We stopped at the moto food place, and I wanted to try and eat healthier so I went to Chow, big mistake. The woman who served us was quite rude and unheigenic; she was coughing all over the place. Also to the previous customers she acted the same way. And to make matters worse, a day after rating there I was sick, coincidence, I think not! As there was no other liable reason besides from that.

The worse Chinese takeaway I have come across in years. We ordered crispy duck which actually came with lettuce and tomatoes 😆 the duck tasted like it had been cooked days before. I would avoid if I was you...

I normally call in here on a Friday teatime, it used to be the best chippy in knaresborough.i called in last night, disaster! Confirming earlier reviews. Had to wait for ages for chips to be cooked, the main fryer kept saying “30” seconds? No white protective clothing! It appeared to be understaffed. The medium fish was definitely a small fish for the same price £7.90 smaller boxes, soggy chips , once home the batter was undercooked and thin small piece of fish. Unfortunately the young man serving obviously not had any training, kept wiping his hair, then wrapping fish and chips, left peas on cold counter, another man in light tan dirty clothes covered in batter( but not cooking) kept coming into the frying area obviously not happy but not helping either. Worst experience of this chippy in 9 years! And I note it has just received planning permission to extend?? Please get your portions back and concentrate on providing good value fish and chips. The fish bites sign removed and children’s meals also- it appears these”chains” that take over small independent shops prefer profit to good value and service . I won’t be returning.
