Stopped by after reading about the relaunch online. Wanted to eat outside, but the tables and seating are not suitable for a meal. Maybe tea and cakes. Went inside and got a nice stout. Had the belly pork as a started. Nice presentation and good flavors. For my main, I had the burger. It tasted very good and was a good portion. It came with skinny chips and coleslaw. After an initial hiccup, service was good. The young bar staff are still learning. I hope the outdoor area gets better seating as it would be a great place to have a meal. Will come back.

The Place has had a relaunch as a chic cafe with delicious food. Long opening hours. Rather overpriced cups of tea, but I'm told the menu is still in development. A good place for a quiet chat and smart lunch.

Absolutely awful. The server was so rude that I walked out. No wonder the place was totally empty on a Friday lunch-time. Avoid.

We popped in for a quiet drink. For that occasion it was ideal, not very busy and no music. It's a beautiful building, with the brasserie being part of the Crown hotel. The interior is functional but underwhelming. The drinks selection is a little limited with a focus on the more generic drinks. The bar staff were friendly and polite. Worth dropping in if you just want a quiet place to chat and enjoy a drink.

I had a house salad with tuna steak, which was awful. The tuna steak was like salted sponge. There was too much rocket in salad. As for the service, the staff do not know what they were doing. It was not busy at all, but they served wrong drinks. And also it took nearly an hour to put food on our table.

The only thing I would change in M&S cafe Harrogate would be the high partitions, I had a bad experience Saturday 17 November, I found a table as usual while my wife ordered our food, Because she couldn't see where I was I stood up to let her know where, A senior lady put her bags on the seat on the other side of the table, I said politely that I had chosen the table and just stood up to let my wife know, However I politely said I would sit at the next table, It wasn't a I politely exchange but little odd, I was stared at by a person who had nothing to do with it and didn't get the whole picture, I didn't say anything to the man but only to keep the elderly lady happy, Please lower these partition as it's better for light and more convenience, Staff there are faultless and very helpful, Food is ok too, Thanks Jeff.

The worse Chinese takeaway I have come across in years. We ordered crispy duck which actually came with lettuce and tomatoes 😆 the duck tasted like it had been cooked days before. I would avoid if I was you...

I like this place however it’s hugely inconsistent and the quality depends on who is frying! Today the fish was ok but the chips just too soft and oily. There is no excuse for inconsistency and it’s the quickest way to loose custom, be known for being great, you focus on one main meal so no excuses!! I will try again but it’s a last chance situation!
