both times i have been the food was absolutely awful. we booked for a big family on a sunday so we could enjoy a roast. i would not recommend at all the meat is so dry and the potatoes are like they have literally just boiled a whole potato and slapped it on the plate it’s the most tasteless roast i have ever had. looks and tastes like a microwave meal, the price is silly for what you get. i think they’re in need of an actual qualified chef my 2 year old could make a better roast than this,

Very quite but a great oasis at 4pm on a winter Sunday.

Our full English breakfasts arrived quickly, and were really good, especially the sausages. A nice clean pub, great service and great views of the river. It was reasonably busy, for a pub in the middle of nowhere that says it all. We will be returning again for sure.

Service was good, food was awful. I have been here before and it was ok pub food but today was awful. Fish was so over cooke it had shrunk in the batter. Small amount of tater sauce and very watery. Chips looked like the small last chips left in fryer. My lamb was so tough I could not cut it. Potatoes were a little hard not other veg was over cooked. Fab location but establishment looking a little tired and shabby now. Very disappointing. We did tell lovely waitress and was offered free pudding, we declined. They then took lamb off the villas some was eaten, however it has shrunk and disintegrated in batter so not much to eat. Will now visit again

I loved my full english breakfast in this pretty setting pub. Lovely service. Food was a large steak oval plate of food with proper sausages and thick bacon. Well priced also at under £9 a plate. There is a large pub with a conservatory and outside seating (although a little flooded in this visit there is also a separate buidling to eat in) Well worth the visit.

Food was very nicley cooked and came out quick HOWEVER lot of things including the red peppers used in their homemade burgers or salad and sauces with certain meals are not presented on their menu which is very very basically laid out.. due to an allergy with peppers and not being aware meal was very much wasted minus the side dish, despite speaking to staff about this was still told not their problem as its not s main allergen so therefore not presented for display! And to top off still charged full price for the meal in which couldnt not be eaten! Had to chase down staff when needed as were too busy spending more time talking to people at the bar or on their phones than serving customers! Wont be eating here again..

Great atmosphere in lovely riverside setting. All staff were excellent, cheerful and helpful. The meals were well presented, hot and very tasty. Great value for money. Will definitely return. Thank you to all involved in making our meal a lovely experiance

This place is an absolute treat, worth the dubious bumpy roads to get here! Looked for a place we could just walk in with a simple menu, this place ticks all the boxes. Had the biggest BLT Baguette I've ever seen for £6.95, incredible. Chicken and bacon salad is great as well. Service was fast and polite. In the summer this place would be amazing.

Lovely pub, lovely food. However, the owners leave a lot to be desired. Have spent a lot of money in this pub. Went every week sometimes twice a week and have taken friends. Noticed when owners were about, they completely ignored us. The last straw was the week before Christmas. Went for a lunch, and on the way out the owner was standing at the bar, saw us coming and turned his back. No thanks for coming,have a nice Christmas, nothing. I was fuming and decided there and then that we would not be giving that ignorant pair any more of our money. Have heard recently that they are leaving. Hope this is true because when they have gone we will go back. Other people we know who have visited this pub have said they found the owners to be unfriendly so it isn't just us. The other staff are lovely though.

Found by pure accident and so glad we did. Homemade lasagne which was homemade 😋 and a total dream 😋 😍 as for the chips 🍟 now these are by far the very best chips we have ever come across, absolutely perfect 👌 we also tried the chicken in cheese and leek sauce with potato gratin, another absolutely divine meal the taste was exquisite 👌 The only downside is we don't normally eat midday so couldn't manage dessert. We are going back in the next couple of weeks to try again, The service and staff were all positively friendly and helpful, food came out pretty quick and it was quite busy for a Friday afternoon in January and we are looking to plan a couple of group meals here as the location is stunning and overall one of the best places we have ever found 😋 Oh and they also do Sunday Roast.

We come here every Christmas eve as we have a large family (14 in total) There's always room for us in the secluded bar at the back, brilliant for big parties, food was awesome, couldn't fault anything.

A small group of us enjoyed a mixed lunch with some having light bites while I had the full Sirloin steak, Chips, mushrooma and peas. Clean tidy and comfortable temperature. Good food, drinks and service. Remote location down winding country lanes which adds to the attraction of this Inn. Theree are rooms available for overnight stays as well also moorings for river boats.

We always have Sunday lunch when visiting family and friends and have always had good food and service would recommend to anyone.

Another utterly brilliant night at the 5 miles. Music from Beautiful Dangerous, food fab, drinks well priced & met old & new friends.

Amazing food, fantastic staff and a pleasant atmosphere all together! Love a restaurant that has nothing but happy staff walking around smiling and checking in on tables. Never been disappointed with a meal there! An added bonus is just having music playing in the background, really sets a great vibe around the place!

Meal good although would like some more trimming with the burger. I'm sure they would have if I had asked. Missing tomatoes etc but that's just my opinion. Chips were hot which is good. Portion size good.

Went for a meal with the wife to treat ourselves as we have heard good things from friends and colleagues. Food was absolutely lovely and portion size was good. Staff and service was absolutely brilliant, very accomodating and polite. Atmosphere was relaxing, clean and a nice layout so it wasn't a cramped feel. We will definitely be back there again. Looking forward to trying it during the spring/summer time as i hear it is very nice sitting outside by the river.

Good choice of food, our group all had different dishes, all which were served at same time so no cold dishes for those who got food first. Excellent choce of deserts to finish off our meal. Veranda has a lovely view of the river with canal boats passing by. With thorougly recommend.

Great but we found food a bit dry which was a disappointment.

We hired the 'venue' room and had a family gathering to celebrate a 70th birthday. This event was a great success in every respect including the fantastic food and service provided. The staff were so helpful and polite. Food was amazing and we even had our own music, assisted by the venue. Easy to park, our own front entrance and spotless toilets. It's the 'real deal' and the events manager, Tracey, is so professional. We would ceritanly book this again.

Fancied somewhere a bit different and found this perfectly placed restaurant on the river. It was surprisingly busy on a midweek lunchtime! Had a nice enough vegetable lasagne with some fries but the best bit was the Malteaser waffle for pudding, sublime.

Food was very good, presented well and without too much of a wait either. Service couldn't be faulted and was attentive. Atmosphere was expected for that time of day and cannot be helped!

As a family we have met up for food and drinks here fairly regularly but not any more. We as a group of 10 visited on a Sunday and in all honesty we may as well have been eating at a Hungry Horse type establishment but for more than double the price.Several of us had the mixed roast and the meat was awful.Tasteless and dried out and don't even get me started about the soggy veg.I could have coped with this but not @ £15.95! Premium price for sub standard food.We also had to ask for sauces which did come quickly to be fair but in small disposable plastic pots like an Indian takeaway.Not the way to go in this day and age.In short this place has gone MASSIVELY down hill and relies upon its nice riverside location for trade.To be fair they were very busy but this isn't an excuse.Big shout to the girls serving who were doing they're best under the circumstances

Ordered two nut roasts today, turned out the potatoes were cooked in beef dripping. I’d suggest that if someone orders a vegetarian roast option at least warn them that the potatoes are not vegetarian. Aside from that, the food was fine, not worthy of a return visit though

Lovely food and beautiful surroundings next to the river. The cherry waffle crumble and custard is now one of my favourites.

Friendly staff ,had to wait an hour for the food ,which i have to be honest was under cooked, no flavour at all ,will not be going back there .

Lovely pub atmosphere overlooking the river. Had a vast amount of outdoor area for sitting to have a drink. Food cant be eaten outside. Menu is good with a specials board to. Service could have been a bit better in the servers could have asked us if things were ok or if we needed anything. Food was lovely though and reasonably priced

Ideal location for messing about on the river, then a pint and some great food afters and you get plenty on your plate. Just wish there was a bigger bowl of salad.

Beautiful pub, which I imagine would be stunning in the Summer. Great staff who were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely go again.

Always rapid and helpful service. Good value. Despite being remote it is very popular. The large grassed are down to the water, with boats stopping by gives the place a holiday atmosphere. Very adequate indoor seating with pleasant views. Lots of ducks and the occasional l swan. There is access to the river for small boats and canoes. P

Staff were friendly and helpful. The view being by the river was great. However the food has really gone down Hill unfortunately. We came over a year ago now and had a lovely meal so we thought we hadn’t been in a while so would return. The menu has obviously changed and the meals were very basic, I sent my burger back because it was so tough, slopped in a cheap bun with chips on the side. No presentation whatsoever no garnish or salad on side of the plate. No sauce in the burger I had to put my own in. Really disappointing and not worth the money. They also had Chicago town pizza on the menu, how embarrassing and lazy. Really need to work on the menu and food or sack the chef as it lets the place down. Waitress was helpful and let me order something else. The friendly Staff are keeping this place going but the food will ruin it!!

Disappointed with my pie of the day, my wife said the lasagna had no taste. My wife said ladies toilets had one with no lock and one with a broken seat.

Very busy. Lovely location. We went on sunny day. Sat outside. Not easy to access outside if in a wheelchair or disabled. Steep incline. But very spacious inside.

A lovely places to visit especially the seating area by the river. Service and staff really good. Had lasagna and chips , was disappointed with lasagna as it was bland it didn't taste of anything. I would recommend you do some maintenence in the ladies toilet. Locks didn't work it one, so I went in the other and seat was half hanging off 😡.

Cushions and tables filthy and stained ,such a shame as used to be a nice place. my starter was awful but dealt with,mains and puddings were nice ,but wont return until cleanliness improves ,so glad we tried it before booking a party of 20 i would have died of shame !!!

Been many times ,but sadly going downhill,mains were nice and pudding ,my starter of cheese mushroom looked awful and was terrible,the young waiter dealt with it well and we were not charged but surely the chef looking at the greasy mess should have realised,so all in all food ok ,but the cushions were absolutely disgusting,stained and filthy...would take an hour in the machine !!! Clean it up...not acceptable .

One of the best pubs I have been to in a while. Massive selection of beverages, great food at a reasonable price. Great service. It is beside the river with some nice walking trails. Large conservatory area too full of natural light.

Always a good place to go for a quick snack or a three course meal, pleasant surroundings near the river can be very relaxing and music night very busy .

Wat a vene Been told about this so often turned up for a live band and can’t fault it faster fantastic atmosphere fantastic will now go back and get some food which also I’ve been told is fantastic

Two of us have just enjoyed a most enjoyable hand-pumped pint (served at the correct temperature) in the grassed area adjacent to the river. On my list to visit again and have some food. My only comment is that on this quiet summer's evening, the noise from a fan - I think the kitchen extractor - is noticeable.

Really great full English breakfast after a lovely swim down the river and the lady behind the bar always chatty and looks after us well .

My wife and I ate here as it was near to WickenFen we were visting and I thought there were a couple of healthy options on the menu. I ordered the tuna, egg and prawn salad with garlic bread. The prawns were tasteless, the hard boiled egg was a tepid poached egg with a runny white. The salad was a massive load of iceberg which is bland at the best of times, a (very) few other leaves, scant cherry tomatoes and cucumber. It was served with a Marie Rose dressing when a Ceaser would have been better. Nothing on the plate went together either taste-wise or visually. It was a mess. And the garlic bread had a very peculiar taste and we couldn't decide whether it was musty garlic or rancid butter or an odd herb. It would have taken so little effort to improve this plate of food with better combinations and presentation. It looked like it was done by a child. Oh, and one of the waitresses looked like she didn't want to be on the planet never mind in the room! Overall, not a pleasant experience. And this was the healthiest food on the menu - the rest were downright dangerous if you were trying to eat well. The only positive was the quick service so we were out quickly.
