This is a nice café near the car park in Midhurst. Good selection, a very generous sausage bap. There is also an out side terrace for when the weather is warmer. Worth a stop

The menu shows cocktails, ice cream, as well as food. We had ice cream, good flavour and value. We would certainly re-visit.

Crab & Lobster

14/08/2019: We celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary at the beginning of August. We sat outside, due to the nice weather, which is very nice - blankets/shawls were already provided in case it got chilly later in the evening. The owner is very organised and pleasant, and the chef is friendly. The waitresses are excellent - pleasant, accommodating, and efficient. The food is scrumpious. We would, having had a nosey round, have been very happy to eat inside, in the cosy restaurant and bar - it has such a lovely atmosphere. The beer garden appears to be reserved for smokers and their party, which does not impact upon the diners on the terrace. Not surprisingly, there tends to be a focus on fish and seafood dishes, but what else can you expect in this location? There are, however, other dishes such as lamb and steak. There is plenty of choice of Gluten Free dishes. My wife started with Crab and prawn cocktail, while I had Selsey Crab cakes - both dishes were great. On the mains, we pushed the boat out - my wife had lobster whilst I had John Dory, both of which were on the specials board. Hope they are both available next time we visit, although I am sure many other dishes would be just as good. My wife then had ice cream, but I could not resist the Apple Strudel - it was fabulous, although extremely rich - the fudge sauce was to die for. The wines were of good quality and there was a good selection of wines by the bottle and by the glass (great, because my wife and I prefer different wines). The only very small issue that I have, and I did raise it with the waitress, although she could not provide an answer, was to do with "The Sticky". These are more commonly known as dessert wines. I noted that these were available in 125 ml glasses, or a 50 cl bottle. Now, it would be usual to expect that there would be a small discount for quantity, but I observed that the bottle cost more than the cost of 4 glasses - I would line 4 glasses up in front of me, rather than buy a bottle! Just a small quirk.. Can't wait to come back, although it will need to be a special occasion and it will be a special meal.
26/08/2019: We chose this restaurant for our daughter’s birthday lunch and were not disappointed. My daughter had a crab starter and dover sole. My daughter and husband didn’t much like their sole but I enjoyed my hake. Puddings were delicious.

the walnut tree

23/06/2019: Teo sunday roasts all very well cooked and served sat outside with dogs a good meal in a charming location
17/05/2019: We have visited The Walnut Tree quite a few times over the years. We ordered a quiche and ham eggs and chips, both arrived after only a short time. I got myself another pint of Doombar ( which is excellent). The food was very nice with good sized portions. Even as it is early in the year the place is always busy.
