Fisherman's Bay in North Tyneside

This was the first visit, my wife and I had the pensioners specials. Food was excellent, portion size was just right. Pleasant genuine attentive staff and very nice surroundings. I had to ask about the mushy peas, best I've tasted... cooked on the premises not from a tin. We used to have a " go to " place in Whitley Bay but I think this is the new one! We will be back

Reading good reviews I bypassed chippies closer to home and visited Fisherman's Bay. Ordered Cod Bites and chips takeaway. I can honestly say the cod bites were the worst I've ever had, how they aren't embarrassed to serve them I do not know. I'm used to getting flakey chunks of cod in batter but the total amount of fish in the five pieces I got wouldn't amount to one fish bite from most other places. Each one had a piece of fish about 60mm and about 7mm thick with a load of batter. £11.50 badly spent.

Lovely cod bites and chips,good food. Click and connect service used. The service was good and food was good. Will definitely be back soon.

We had take away Cod and chips from here whilst on holiday, they were delicious. We sat and ate them looking out to sea. Staff were very friendly.

Ordered both cod and cod bites with chips - cod bites were wonderful! I would recommend these if I was to return. There is a nice seating area outside for takeaway orders. I would say we waited quite a while for our food and if it was busier then potentially the service would be frantic.

A lovely fish & chip restaurant/take-out. Reminded me of holidays in my youth. Lovely staff who had great knowledge of coeliac gluten-free needs. The food was delicious, especially the fish. You would never guess it was gluten-free. Better batter than some other venues gluten offering. Portions were very good, more than I could finish. You can tell how good it is by the busy Wednesday lunchtime. Highly recommend.

Lovely pensioners special, just the right portion and the homemade Tartare sauce is the best we have ever tasted. Chips perfectly crispy and golden on the outside with loads of flavour. Good strong cup of tea.

What a wonderful place to have fish and chips inside. We received a warm welcome from all the staff, everywhere was spotlessly clean. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious and the best we have had for ages, we had the small portion of cod and chips with mushy peas and a large wedge of lemon and there was plenty. A really lovely evening. Thank you everyone, we will certainly be back when we are visiting Whitley Bay again.

This was the second visit for me. Had the pensioners special and a pea fritter. Expected a reduced portion, but was pleasantly surprised. Far too much to eat. Had to leave some of the chips and pea fritter. The fish was beautifully white and tender. You could tell the chips were twice cooked. All the food was hot and personally prepared for customers (so that it was fresh). The staff were all polite, friendly and attentive. What a lovely experience! Keep up the good work. Highly recommended!!
