We rang for a delivery of fish and chips and was advised that they didn’t take delivery orders by phone only online via deliveroo or justeat. Part of my order was for a seniors fish and chips which they don’t give you the option of ordering online! We all wanted cod and chips so ordered medium portions. Personally I’d class them as small portions, especially for the price. However they were very very nice and we’d definitely order from here again. Really nice curry sauce too!

The staff are friendly and helpful. We have fish and chip most weeks there and they have a nice children menu

Dropped off to get cod and chips twice, second time passing. We were provided with fresh food as I saw it come off the top but chips were not cooked, greasy and certainly not any sight of a little crispy. Little taste at that. Fish batter was so soggy with grease on both pieces on the top and bottom of the fish. I had to put kitchen roll over the fish to absorb the fat. It will be some time before I return.

Had a few times it's not been perfect but majority of the time pretty good will still eat here. I like the fact that the produce is locally sourced and there are good deals too the childrens fish and chips meal has got smaller since the change over was a perfect size for me so now I have to get the regular.

Second time buying fish and chips for here but 1st time getting them delivered. Arrived in good time and still hot. Chips and fish where cooked nicely. We also had ribs and they where very tasty. We will definitely order from here again. One of the better chip places in Chelmsford now.

Went here for chips... first time since it has changed hands...wont be returning. Had to take chips home to heat them as they were almost cold...we had intended to eat them straight away in car and then go home.very small portions. Chips tasted of the oil ..almost like they were yesterdays chips. Very disapointed will not bother to go back.

Since the change in management the shop is lighter and cleaner looking :) However the chips are poor the last drabs in the fryer nit impressed the fish isn't much better but on the odd occasion it's been better The cost is quite expensive I think Kids meals are ok but nothing to shout about .. quite greasy !! The staff are Ok .... teenagers

Nor the cheapest fish and chips around but definatly one of the nicest. The shop is clean and looks nice. The service is good and prompt. The chips are old fashioned, in a sense they are yellow and tasty not these anemic things you often get from other places. Like I say it's a bit pricier but worth the extra money.

This fish & chip shop has recently changed to, I assume a new owner namely Churchill’s. An improvement on the previous "Fish & Chicken", chips are really good & excellent quantity, cod has been very good on the two recent occasions that I went there. Only one complaint ordered a gherkin with my takeaway meal, duly noted by the female assistant & paid for, however as the food was freshly cooked & I waited a few minutes another male assistant handed me the order. Later noted that the gherkin was missing, will advise them when we go back next time. My order was hot & fresh, no bones & no overcooked chips & in my opinion good value.

Went there with great excitement. But the Cod tasted so so . same with the chips. Takeaway box is great looking ,minus great food. Probably, I have tasted some great fish n chips in Chelmsford in some where else.

My local fish and chips was closed so went here to try out for once, Our fish was a nice size and lovely and white inside and one of the most important thing for me was the batter was nice and crispy but not to crispy and it was not dripping with fat not like other places i could say, chips was just how i like them . So very happy will go back again.

I've been using this place for about 15 years. About once a fortnight. It has been consistently good. Flo, Claire and Kevin have made I'd entertaining and worthwhile in this time... HOWEVER, I have noticed a few changes to their detriment.... I am perfectly happy to wait for my fish to be cooked FRESH ... However, Lately, there are fish already cooked 'waiting' for customers and (call me fussy) the fish is then overcooked by the time it is served to customers ?? minutes later :( PRICES have indeed increased and perhaps a lot higher than expected inflation?? SERVICE is usually with a smile and Claire/Flo are always pleasant and engage customers. This is not apparent with the younger / newer staff members. I will continue to use this place as long as the service/quality is maintain but my next few visits will dictate how often.

I queued for quite a long time without even being acknowledged. There were three with the front serving yet it didn't really seem as though they were serving anyone. When I finally got asked what I would like to order The following took place. I would like a large cod please ..... Sorry we do not have any left. I would like a steak and kidney pie please.... Sorry we do not have any left. Simply disastrous think the business that only needs to stock a small amount of products would be able to store enough so that they don't run out on a weekly basis. It was a Thursday night so let's hope I get an order tomorrow otherwise the stock manager should hand in his notice. Poor service poor management and I will not be returning

When ever we fancy fish and chips we always come here. Crisp golden chips, light uniform batter on a good sized piece of fish . Good service and good value!

I only live around the corner from here and as such it is convenient. However I have started to take my custom to the Fishbar in Writtle as the food is fresher The portions are bigger at the service is more friendly. The people in this establishment just appear to be trudging through their mundane routine . The prices are quite expensive for the quality of the food and the portions that you get.

Five medium fish and chips, a sausage, two mushy peas and a curry sauce was over £40!!! Plus old lady said "we have large or small, if you want medium fish I'll have to ask them to cook for you" as if it was a massive inconvenience! I mean heaven forbid you ask a cook to cook!!!Horrible service and to be honest the food wasn't that great. In short my advice would be to go somewhere else, broomfield chippy is better in every way in my opinion.

It's a shame that the elderly woman who works there has put a few too many of those chips on her shoulder. There are many good chippies in Chelmsford, so I think I'd rather go to another where the staff area little more polite. Good food, bad attitude..

For some reason if I get a good scoop of chips from here they are the best I've had in Chelmsford. Crisp, Light and perfectly cut. They are not hand made or anything, to the best of my knowledge, maybe they just get the timing right.They had a refurbishment not so long ago, food is now served in boxes as opposed to loose paper wraps. The fish is good and they have a lot of regulars who would agree it is good value.My main ask here is they open more, the place always seems to be closed when I want chips.
