My boyfriend and I often come to yo sushi in Chelmsford but we have noticed it’s usually hit or miss. Today was a definite Miss! I ordered the Inari Tacos (which I order regularly) and they came without any avocado , salsa and only had one dot of sauce. Because I know how they are usually made I complained and then they returned with a sliver of avocado and that was it it. Will add some pictures for more clarity. Furthermore there was long dark hairs in the menus placed on the table to add to the experience they have often use the customer sitting areas as meeting areas for the staff , in which today we heard a story of how one of the staff was complaining about the cleaning staff for not cleaning the restaurant properly , and that she herself had to clean the food belt. Definitely NOT what you want to hear while eating food made there. In the past we have had rude staff and staff unable to count change to the extent it was hard to believe. Just pretty inconsistent and poorly run at times. We are big fans of yo sushi overall however the Chelmsford store is a let down. If there were any other sushi restaurants close we would choose them over this one every time.

I eat at this branch on the regular occasions I am in Chelmsford. I have noticed on all my visits that the greeting is lukewarm and the staff always look harassed. I suspect this is due to this particular branch which always seems understaffed. The food is inconsistent, when done properly is delicious but there have been days where the food was awful.My most recent visit has tipped the scales to the point where I am adamant I will not be returning. The sushi were slathered in sauce to the point where it was difficult to distinguish which sushi it was. And, where required, garnished with big chunks of spring onion that looked like it had been hastily chopped with a plastic knife. But it wasn't the fact that the food wasn't aesthetically pleasing, or that the service was slow (bordering non existent). What made me really ill was when I bit into the freshly prepared takoyaki and the middle was FROZEN. At that point we cancelled our food order (of which had clearly been forgotten as 20mins later we still hadn't received it) paid and left disgruntled. This branch of Yo Sushi is a russian roulette when it comes to food so enter at your own risk.

Me and my partner love it here. Some days are better than others. Occasionally the service is slow or the staff get things wrong but overall the food is great and that’s why we keep going back. I always want sushi when I visit Chelmsford!

My family and I have visited Yo Sushi for many years since the first store opened in London. We were so pleased when a branch opened in Chelmsford. Great restaurant for choice and my son has loved it since he was just a baby. There’s so much appeal for children. Chelmsford - if you’re reading this review please please fix the loud slamming doors (one at the front and one at the back!) as this has been an annoying issue for over a year now

I haven’t been to yo sushi for a couple of years now, so was looking forward to this visit, especially with the the family. I eT sushi regularly in London and wanted to show how nice the food is.Unfortunately this didn’t work. The service started of poor and didn’t get any better.The food was boring, without any flavour, I couldn’t tell the difference between the steak and the tuna, they both tasted of nothing.That’s my last visit there.

Love this restaurant, relaxed, friendly, but most importantly delicious food, my ultimate favourite is Salmon and Avocado Temaki. There are so many delicious dishes that are not raw fish, in fact i think most dishes are not raw at all. Their Japanese cheesecake is so lovely i could eat and eat it. Just such lovely different food, my favourite Chelmsford restaurant.

As you know yo sushi have a button to push when you would like to call a server. I we was alone in the restaurant as far as I could see. Pushed the button and was ignored for roughly 10- 15 minutes ( pushed it several times) then was finally met with staff that just seemed bored and couldn't care less about my order or needs......

I came with my daughter and stood for almost 10 minutes waiting to be seated. Eventually I asked some one where we could sit. The service time was appalling, took almost 25 mins for the ordered food to get to our table. I also question the hygiene of the staff preparing the food as a knife off the work surface was used to cut the edge of a till roll and then used to prep the food without washing.

With less than thirty minutes to spare for lunch between court cases in Romford and Chelmsford Yo Sushi in the High Street seemed a safe option. It looked pretty empty on arrival until taken to a table at the rear of this long thin corridor of a place where a few pairs of diners were scattered. And unlike branches I’ve been to in London and even Croydon there was very little on the conveyor bent apart from runner beans and biscuits. So I had to order everything not just a refreshing 500ml Asahi and a miso soup but also small bowls of chicken katsu with rice, beef teriyaki with rice and peppers, and best of all, long thin pipes of battered prawns with salad. And it was all prepared, delivered and consumed with time to spare.

Terrible service only to met with hostility and £13 for warm beer water and two plates that had been circulating for some time. We attempted twice to get more dishes added to the conveyor only to be told we had to order from the menu which defeats the object. Although the chefs had multiple dishes prepared but clearly these were for the evening, sessions which were not to be shared with late afternoon diners.

I love Yo Sushi, unfortunately this chain is very poor. Was there a couple of weeks ago when the manager forgot to place my order, so ended up chasing 40 minutes after it was placed for it to be finally placed with kitchen, and then went to pay and then manager couldn't get the payment machine to work - fortunately I had cash. Today I went in and waited 20 minutes for service, frustrated after people sat down after me were served time and time again despite my red service light being on, I gave up and went to the till for my bill and complained, the manager told me he was very busy that day, no apology as it was clearly "my problem", very rude, will not go back!!

I eat here twice a week (and have done for the last 2/3 years) so I thought I would chime in. The staff are always helpful and polite. I'd ignore the chat about impolite staff you read in other reviews. The managers Avi and Ozzy/Ossie/Ozzie (Oi! Oi! Oi!) are willing to get stuck in and don't just sit around delegating. The chefs, led by Roberto are super-fast and super-talented. If something isn't on the belt, they'll make it for you in a heartbeat. I've never had a bad meal in here. The sashimi is always so fresh. I recommend Blue Mondays (every Monday) if you haven't tried it as you get dishes that are normally "grey" for the price of a "blue". The salmon ponzu salsa is one of my favourites along with the pepper squid. wash it all down with unlimited Miso soup and you're full in no time. And if you are worried about the kids, don't be, they'll love the Japanese fried chicken and burgers. - Enjoy :)

Was a bit tentative to go there after reading the reviews but I must say I was so pleasantly surprised, food and service was top notch. It was my friend’s first time but the manager( Ali?)was so helpful in making it a great experience for her. Will definitely be back.

I love yo sushi ! Unfortunately this particular branch is terrible. The restaurant is quite dirty. Some of the staff are rude, the manager in particular. The portions size are getting smaller and smaller. Such a shame a Chelmsford needs a decent sushi place ! Wouldn’t be surprised if it shuts down soon

Again I was out with all my family and two of my girls have been asking to go here for ages so we popped in and tried it we all ate well and the service was very good . They explained everything well, two adults and four children ate a good lunch with drinks for under £45 so would definitely go again to try more from the menu

The food is not too bad but service is poor. We should have read the reviews before we went in. We could vouch the exact same bad experience happened to us as well. They have a big 'please wait to be seated' sign; so we stupidly waited. Waited for quite awhile, even saw one man putting back the ready to go packed sushi and left. The restaurant only had 2 guests at that time!! Finally we were called- the waitress just gestured us in from where she was standing. She didn't bother to even come over to bring us in. Apparently the same thing happened to another guest based on a review I read. Must be the same waitress (short, glasses, hair in ponytail). We were still fine at this time because we did observe she's the only waitress on the floor. She came back to take our order when we have just sat down barely read through the menu. Of coz by that time we were still trying to read through the menu- and she said 'well I will come back to take your order. I won't be standing here, hanging around'.. that really killed my mood. Never coming back to this branch again. They seriously need to retrain their staff.

So when we first arrived we waited at the sign saying "wait here to be seated" just as well we didn't as no one arrived. We sat ourselves and initially our experience was positive. Had to send back vegetable tempura as it was deep fried and mushy, however the rest of the food was delicious and we were happy with our service. We ordered another portion of crunchy cauliflower (our waitress-the manager) was perfectly aware that we were vegan as I wanted the fries but they were covered in mayo so she advised us against them. When the dish arrived I found myself with a mouthful of squid which I immediately spat out. We then tried to get the attention of the manager that had been serving us all afternoon as i am allergic to seafood but instead a young lady was given the task of speaking to us. The young lady was totally charming and sympathetic but clearly not the person meant to be dealing with this complaint. As soon as there was a problem the manager didn't even look over to our table. Our initial recompense was a very insulting mini bottle of prosecco. It is worrying to think that serious food allergies are not taken seriously and the management cannot deal with it personally and think we can be fobbed off with a bottle of prosecco. It is a great pity as we love YoSushi food but this experience has definitely put us off.

I would advise anyone living or visiting Chelmsford to stay away! This is not representative of Yo Sushi as a business at all. We walked in, stupidly expecting someone to greet and seat us, we should’ve taken the hint when we were waved at by a waitress who couldn’t be bothered to make her way to us. She pointed at seats, still wordless, and threw the menus at us. We ordered what we usually get, the spicy seafood soup and some sushi. After waiting an extraordinary amount of time our food arrives. The potions are tiny! You expect, when you go to a name brand franchise, to get the same portion sizes, service and quality throughout. None of this criteria was met. The three noodles and 4 prawns Swimming in the murky red liquid were so bad that we quickly settled up and left. I would avoid this at all costs. We ended up going to Taco Bell, because unlike yo sushi apparently, you know what you are getting.

My son and daughter love this place and dragged me there as it was there turn to chose, but I will not be rushing back for the following reasons: The service was poor our waitress was sullen and looked like she wanted to be there about as much as I did, the food was at best average and the bill, will they did not hold back on that, i mean 4 small pieces of sushi 7 quid, really!! you can get a selection box from itsu for same price and its 10 times better. I had the katsu curry which was not very nice at all and it took ages to come due to all the deliveroo drivers coming in and out collecting orders which i presume is the reason mine was a long time coming. The decor was tired and it all seemed just a bit of a gimmick style restaurant, which maybe thats what hey aim for and maybe some people like that but if your going for decent food, service with a smile or value for money then you will be sorely disappointed.

Arrived and asked for wine while viewing menu, eventually given a warmish bottle of white, asked for and ice bucket, told no ice available, so they put the bottle in the fridge, bottle smashed on next serving, within earshot staff argued/ discussed remedy, but thought the could get away with not replacing it, after a full twenty minutes of clean up and talking they brought another bottle, this time room temperature, but offered to put ice in our glasses, were did the ice come from. Heard the word sorry so many times, to us and surrounding tables. Table next to us ordered wine and glasses were not as ordered, non- uniformed lead server said she could not put the wine back in the glasses, what ! She expected them to live with her mistake, they left without ordering, she chased them into the street, the mind boggles.

Was recommended by my sister she had visited the restaurant in Cambridge, on arrival we were seated given 2 menu”s and left for 10 mins, when we finally got the attention of 1 of the 2 waiters we were informed we needed to press a light on that would indicate to them we needed some service the light was hidden by a tall glass jar of chop sticks, we gave the waiter our order and waited another 15 mins, when our order was ready the waiter delivered our order to another table and started to clear there table they picked up the bowls and looked and realised this was not their order he put down their used bowls collected ours on brought them over to us, we declined the order and left the restaurant

Went to YO sushi with my girlfriend a couple months ago, firstly, we walk in and there is no-one there to seat us, we wait 5 mins and end up having to call someone over. The waitress came over looking very annoyed and was just generally rude when talking to us to some free seats, she sat us down we asked if we could have some tap water as our drinks which she then said yes to in a dissapointed rude and annoyed way and only gave us the tap water after having to ask three times waiting around 20 minutes. Once we had ordered the food took around 40 minutes to come to us while we noticeed other people were served before us who came in much later after us and the restaurant was not at all busy. The food when it did finally come was absoultley lovely however I felt so mistreated that I couldn't enjoy my food at all, I was just astonished and shocked at the way the waitress treated both me and my girlfriend. By far the worse experience I have ever had and such a shame as the food was so nice.

After the eye-test in Specsavers my husband and I stopped at yo sushi for lunch. Their current offer for their blue plates is great with a huge variety of choice and the ability to order hot items freshly cooked. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the bottomless green tea is excellent value for money. I enjoyed the beef nigiri and the chicken katsu curry. My husband just likes to try new things!! The only tiny niggle is that I would have liked colder sparkling water, but other than that the experience was excellent. I don't know about its authenticity, but for my tastes it was great!

Friday night eats with friends, 5 of us, very rowdy and demanding (in a nice way) of the lovely Kayleigh. She was brilliant! We didn't need to ask twice for anything even though she appeared to be the only server in a very busy restaurant so running here and there relentlessly. Smily and helpful at every point.

following my nice experience with son #2, took both sons as #1 wanted to try it. Firstly manageress was vague about where to sit first of all, and secondly when I asked for a clean glass, I was told the glass was clean, but the blue tissue used to dry the glass had come onto said glass (aka not a clean glass then!). I don't agree with the maxim that the customer is always right, but I don't think they should be argued with based on such semantics. that said, food was nice, but I ordered the tofu katsu and it didn't come for over 1/2 hour as the chef forgot it first time round. sons enjoyed it but I was disappointed, and am not a fussy person...

We eat at this yo sushi very regularly often once or twice a week and often order delivery. There seems to be a huge staffing issue almost different staff and management every week. Several of the wait staff have been very pleasant others far from it. One girl tried to over charge me £5 when I told her I had added up the bowls myself and had a different number she was adamant I was wrong!! Sorry but I think i know how to add. she called over the management and it took 2 of them with both their phones out to realise I was right. No apology given and certainly no tip given. Paying the bill is always a huge debacle, asking them to split a bill is like asking them for a kidney. Always takes a ridiculous amount of time to pay. As for the food it's nice most of the time but sometimes you can tell when something that you have ordered from the kitchen has been plucked of the belt and re heated. If they just sorted out the staffing and consistency issues this would be a really nice place.

Popped into YS about midday having not visited this chain for about 18 months. Staff were pleasant enough but what is readily apparent is that the menu has been minimised: fewer choices, the portion sizes are much smaller-my seafood udon had I think 3 prawns-and the prices have risen noticeably.

second visit to yo-sushi Chelmsford in three weeks and it hasn't improved. Earlier this month the bad experience we put down to a one off and tried to be forgiving - today probably even worse! Two waiters one of whom was training the other!! one booth stacked full of supplies. Very few dishes on the belt, hot order took over45 mins when we enquired after a half an hour it hadn't even been started. ordering system went down, almost every table had some sort of issue. The manager finally arrived and she was not very professional didn't do much to sort out the problems. A real shame as when it opened first the staff and service were great, It just screams of bad management and inexperienced staff, please sort it out as we love the food!!

Very bad service every time we visit. The same reason why every time. It is the nearest Yo! And we have tried at different times of day to give it the benefit of doubt. Unfortunately, today especially, the food was rushed and the serving sizes seem to be smaller than other yo sushi's. Overall the place is understaffed and poorly trained. There were at least 4 tables of people today either leaving without payment or just sick of the lack of any service. Yo! Has lost its ability to make you feel welcomed and special as they try to garner more customers through cheaper deal weeks. Overall I would give it a miss as the food was badly presented and took way too long to arrive.

Popped in one lunch time for a quick bit. Seated quickly and our hot food order taken. The only food going round the belt was peas and desserts. There was 1 beef dish, 1 salmon dish and 1 Tuna dish, and some California rolls, nothing more. I expected more dishes to be added, though perhaps they couldn't keep up with demand but there wasn't many people in, but no, nothing further appeared apart from more desserts. No veggie sushi at all. The supervisor or manageress whilst chatting on the phone the whole time came up to our table asking us if various dishes were ours, perhaps if she got off the phone when serving us she wouldn't have been better able to understand what we were trying to tell her ! such bad manners.

Visited here on Saturday. Hardly any food on the belt. Forgot our order and served burnt dried up food. Had to ask for one dish 4 times! When we complained the waitress agreed and said everyone was complaining!!! Also complained to their head office and no response there either!! Won't go back.

Got told in an excited voice that they had a new menu - it's the current menu less most of the items (what on earth?!). No leadership, no organisation. Overheard sever saying that they've no manager or head chef and come back in a few months! Waitress was nearly in tears and was running the show. This place is a disaster. Will never return. Visited restaurant today . It was almost empty apart from one table. Made an order from the menu was waiting for 30 min then asked a member of staff why is it taking so long? Was told that they just forgot?!? So ok we have remained them after 10 min food have arrived and the sup we have ordered she have held her finger inside the it while serving it !! I can not believe my own eyes!! Then for the desert was waiting and waiting pressed the button red light stayed on for 10 min no one came and it was only my family and one mo table no one else. I love Yo Sushi and this was my first time at the Chelmsford branch. I was shocked by the difference here. It was the SLOWest service ever. Hit your light wait 1/2 hour for someone to come over, order food you better sit tight for a good hour before you get it. There slow service probably tripled the time we spent there. Slow workers, slow food, longest meal ever. Nothing on the belt to grab, every now and then one or two dishes but practically nothing. I have never been so frustrated with the amount of time we had to spend there. The ONLY positive was the nice waitress would did our bill for us, she was very nice and friendly.

Ordered 3 mains as soon as we walked in, was told the wait was 5-10 mins. In 5 mins we all had drinks and 1 main. 25 mins later we were still waiting for two mains, and when asked staff were told the order had been given to another table. Had to wait another 10 mins and decided to request food as take out as we were on a tight schedule which we made clear when we walked in. The restaurant was not busy and we were told there was only 1 chef and the other 3 were not qualified and therefore was putting a strain on the service. Had we been told this we would have eaten elsewhere, the staff member was very stand-offish and shrugged our complaint off. We will not be eating here again BEWARE.

Yo sushi has great food. And the prices some may consider steep but I consider to be normal prices, and bare in mind after three of the small dishes of sushi you'll likely be full up!

I love Yo Sushi and sushi in general, so popped in with my fiancee and baby to try out the new menu additions. Firstly, there aren't many pram-friendly places to sit, and we felt like a burden in the way of the staff the whole time - not great at all! We were disappointed by the plates that were on offer on the conveyor belt and there didn't seem like much to choose from at all. We tried some of the new menu which we ordered and it was very enjoyable. Service was incredibly slow however, and the combination of these factors will stop me from visiting this branch again.

I love sushi and have been many times to other Yo Sushi branches, this one was abysmal! We walked in, and were told there would be a short wait, there were empty tables with dozens of dirty plates strewn all over them and we expected the wait was due to them clearing the tables...wrong. The dishes were just left. We sat down eventually and couldn't get hold of anyone even for a drink. We were checking out the conveyer belt, and there was absolutely no variety or options, it was so bare. This was Saturday lunchtime! When the waitress finally came over we asked to order hot food....'we don't do that'...bearing in mind we were reading off the menu to order! We just sat there perplexed! By that point, we didn't bother trying to order, we just left. Such a disappointment. This place needs a major management overhaul/intervention!

I have been to many Yo Sushi branches and this one several times in the fairly short period it has been open. This was undoubtedly the worst experience. The menu has been changed so there are now no multiple selection platters, so helpful to newcomers, and there is far less choice. The rolls weren't properly prepared, as the rice just fell apart as you tried to lift. Some of the hot dishes weren't available, and those that were came up tepid after a long wait, served by staff who were there to do a job but showed no interest until the complaints are made.

Yo Sushi has always been a fun and delicious place to eat in Chelmsford and so we returned here expecting a consistent experience. We were really disappointed with the lack of food on the conveyor and when ordering dishes from the menu were informed that it was probably best to see if it was on the conveyor !! Many dishes e.g. Tempura vegetables were not available. The large sides of salmon being prepared in the kitchen were left sitting uncovered on the side. The managerial staff were sullen, unhelpful and quite frankly rude. Sadly we will not be returning to this restaurant again !

I am a big fan of Yo Sushi but this is a very poorly run branch. My wife and I ordered two hot dishes on arrival, 45 minutes later my wife's dish arrived. The restaurant was half empty. My Katsu Curry took only 25 minutes but arrived with cold rice and sauce like dish water. The conveyor belt had about 20 plates but only 4 or 5 choices, the staff though obviously young and friendly but were very poorly trained one was very keen and kept apologising the other showed little interest in her work.

Terrible service, as the waitstaff had a big case of cba (can't be asked). It was an underwhelming overpriced atmosphere, which was disappointing as advertisements give the impression that their is a fun and playful vibe. Compared to other Sushi restaurants the food was okay, but not delicious or beautifully prepared. Overall, very overpriced for a poor experience. Very disappointed as it is the only Sushi in Chelmsford.

This is our second visit having been shopping before Christmas we arrived about 4.30 p.m. Not a good time to come as food choice going round was very poor and too many duplications of same dishes. The only advantage was there were only 5 people in there when we arrived. We had to order everything and some items took a long time (15 minutes) to arrive. Staff attentive but cooking time slow particularly as there were only 7 customers in the restaurant.

Second time coming, first time shortly after opening I was pretty unimpressed with food and service but both have improved - particularly food. Waitresses were still a bit hard to track down and forgetful despite quite often seeing them sitting around which loses a star but otherwise now very good. Also great for vegetarian.

Went to Yo Sushi on a Saturday this time. The restaurant was busy so had to wait for a clean booth. Waited about 10 minutes before we got one. Was clean tidy and fully stocked. The servers had taken pride in their job. Food wad good. Service was good. And the music much better. Two servers on this section were great. Worked in unison so the service was excellent

We took full advantage of the yo festival which ran to Friday, 23 September. Steve has been the main server for us a real credit to the company with his friendly personality and nothing is too much trouble attitude he remembered what we were going to order, before we actually ordered it. We rang for a delivery of fish and chips and was advised that they didn’t take delivery orders by phone only online via deliveroo or justeat. Part of my order was for a seniors fish and chips which they don’t give you the option of ordering online! We all wanted cod and chips so ordered medium portions. Personally I’d class them as small portions, especially for the price. However they were very very nice and we’d definitely order from here again. Really nice curry sauce too!
