Fish N Chick N in Basildon

I am a regular customer at fish n chicken, and I rate them 1st class very tasty food. But I do think the cardboard boxes they use are a complete waste of money and such a waste in general..the food is literally in the boxes for minutes then thrown away...in todays climate I think they should try going back to the old fashioned way of wrapping fish n chips in paper...fish n chips is so expensive nowadays it may help out a bit with their prices. I bought nuggets tonight and was told instead of 10 they have cut it to 9....cut out the extravagant boxes that would save them reducing the amount? Just a thought

I have been using this chippy for over 20 years, but sadly this will be my last visit.. Yes, prices have increased - but £4 for ‘large chips”??? The portion size was truly pathetic - probably smaller than the pre-pandemic “regular chips”. In my opinion this is pure profiteering, and despite my protest at the portion size the manager seemed completely apathetic. Shocking attitude, shocking prices, shocking portion sizes.

I know that the cost of fish and chips has increased recently, but when you pay the increased prices but find that your portions are severely reduced in size, it's appalling as well as a rip off. The service is so slow, the portions so small and boy do they try to sell you add-ons that you don't want. £4 for around 12 chips? They are having a laugh. Loads of people were complaining about their portion sizes when I was there waiting for mine. I wish I'd looked before I got mine home. Apparently, the MD of this company lives local and is an Admin on a local Facebook group and takes down any adverse comments about the shop. Says it all.

I’ve been using this shop for a fair few years now. From a business point of view a delivery service might work. But unfortunately it’s been at the expense of their regular walk-in customers. There’s been times when I’ve been standing for there 5 mins before even being asked for my order requirements due to staff fulfilling delivery orders. There’s always a long wait now for walk in orders. I believe people in the shop itself should take order priority. Disappointing walk in service. Food quality isn’t very consistent. It’s good generally but at times it drops off. We’ve now started to travel further away to an independent shop.

Be a walkin customer at your own peril, 20mins queuing, 25mins waiting for food,who would have thought codroe was a special order at a chip shop lol seems more interested in uber eats/just eat deliveres

Situated in the Corringham town centre. Appears popular. Got fish for sister in law which looked nice and apparently was nice, I saw and went for the pork rack of ribs with sauce which was very tasty. We shared a large portion of chips with wife having some to go with her pizza from another outlet. Service was friendly and little hold up in the queue.

Family had fish and chips last night and utilised their click and collect service and so glad that we did as this place was packed. The only down side was that I didn’t get my gherkin which I had paid for however wasn’t going to let that spoil my dinner. The food was ok with a couple of family member complaining their fish and chicken was over cooked however my fish was lovely.

We live local and wish our local chip shop was worth the visit. Unfortunately this bank holiday we gave it another try and the had the same result. The chips were barely warm and the portion size is very poor. When you buy a take away and it comes to nearly £20.00 for 2 , I might be old fashioned but I expect to get enough and for it to be hot. All they are doing is forcing the trade elsewhere and I don't think anybody wants that. Please get things back on track.

Used to get a regular order of ribs here, but they changed the barbecue sauce after years the same. Not nearly as nice. Almost seems like it's there to disguise something, rather than accentuate it. Fish is okay though. Reasonable prices.

Me and Becky visited my parents for me to get my fix of fish and chips however I think there want be a rush to go back. I will start with the positives: 1) Becky’s cod was nice 2) some of the fish was cooked freshly. Now the negatives. 1) The plaice was in the cabinet when we got there and we were given that and it was like a big battered crisp (here is an idea don’t leave flat fish in the hot cupboard for 15 minutes it don’t get better with age). 2) I ordered a large and a regular rock and they were identical sizes (funny enough regular however got charged for large and regular) 3) There was no organisation whatsoever. Whom I considered in charge was surprised at 18:27 when I came in for my fish I ordered for 18:30. I would have put his name however he didn’t wear a name badge. 4) It did also seem quite messy by the cabinets. Today was not a good visit and who knows if or when we will return

We had this on Friday night. We have used this takeaway before and had great food. This Friday was no exception. Excellent Cod and great chips. We have used other F&C shops in Basildon before and they have always been a disappointment but this one is very good 😊. Adams F&C shop in Ballards Walk is a prime example of poor food. Sorry but a truly bad experience at this one. Anyway enjoy 😊 the first one.

Freshly cooked fish, tasty chips and great service. It isn’t the cheapest fish and chips however is the best

Good Quality fish & chips , a bit on the dear side but very wholesome & tasty. Very friendly staff and efficient , early evening this shop is mobbed , but you do not have to wait long.

Food is freshly cooked and piping hot but the chips tend to be "white" and the fish can be greasy. Haddock is the best option due to the stronger flavour

Best chippie in Basildon by far. Excellent service, very clean & very reasonably priced. Can be busy at peak times but never takes too long to be served.

Cuando me visita y Becky mis padres me falta mi dosis de rock y patatas fritas y cada vez que visita simplemente se pone mejor. Aunque hoy la comida fue perfecto, como sea posible. El pescado era fresco, el bateador era fresco y ligero y las patatas fritas eran simplemente divina. También tuve un saveloy que también era increíble, con un verdadero estallido de sabor cuando se rajo la piel. Si tuviera que dar un negativo sería que realmente no creo que el pescado y las patatas fritas podrían mejorar aún más.

Fish is always very white and tasty also good value for money staff very helpful, also restaurant very clean.

One of the best take aways not only for fish and chips but for ribs, chicken, pies savaloys, sausages cheeseburgers, all fish deals plus for the children slush puppies keeps them quiet till you get home, great value for money

Used to be our family go-to chip shop! The chips and fish we used to get were always fresh and piping hot, served with a smile. Reasonable prices too. Loved it here!

Have used this fish and chip shop a few times and the quality is always fantastic. Fresh and always piping hot. Will definitely use again.

I can't believe no one has reviewed FishnChickn at Kidcaps, including myself! This is part of a chain but it doesn't feel that way. This is a very popular chippy, the queue is sometimes out the door. The staff are always extremely friendly and the manager Ian is great. The food is always lovely and I've not found another chippy that comes near to it. Would highly recommend!
