Brought food from here for years always good but seems to have gone down hill chips just about cooked fish was burnt definitely won’t be returning

Have bought from here weekly for months and the food is great although the fish is a bit hit and miss. But, there have been two price increases in the past few months and the current one has seen seen some massive hikes in cost; 50p on quite a few things and as much as £1.50 and £1.70 on some items.

I drive past three chippies to get my food from here. Freshly cooked fish. Crispy chips. Friendly staff. I can’t recommend it enough. One thing I would like is malt vinegar as an option instead of the non brewed condiment, but that’s personal taste.

Just moved here, WOW, food is off the chart. Rock eel is epic. Highly recommended

First visit to this chip shop, a little dear for chips but they tasted good and service was good so would use again.

Love this local chippy! Friendly staff with great service and food is always cooked fresh! Enjoyed several items off their menu including veggie options, scampi - which is always super crispy! The batter on the cod and cod bites is always light and crispy and the chips are delicious! Highly recommended! 😙👌🏻

Personally went in the week before to order 30 portions of chips for a Children's event at 6.15pm. I arrived at 6.15 with children to a queue. I went into to the manager and was told: " Oh is it today? You'll have to wait, I've got paying Customers. I'm on my own, what can I do?" I was a paying customer with an agreement, so I would suggest sort your business out and attend a Customer Service course. Absolutely disgusted considering pre-arranged order. I went to Capital Burgers nearby and they were amazing providing me with 30 portions of very tasty chips in 15minutes.👏 I award ZERO stars but it will only post if I lie.

Very disappointed, half my cod was yellow uncooked batter, ordered 2 gerkins got 1. Chips didn't taste fresh and the Girl serving was too busy chatting. Will be going else where for fish and chips in the future.

Alex and Staff are very freindly and thier service is excellent, lovley fish and chips always cooked to a good standard and consistent. Have tried may of what's on offer here and never no complaints.

You have to wait as priority is with call orders.

I have always liked the food from this chippy but it’s gone up another level with the new owners. Got the usual 2 large cod (request skin off) and chips with curry sauce. OMG the guy that cooks this must be from hog warts as he is a wizard. Cooked to perfection with the lightest grease free batter and don’t get me started on the curry sauce. We’ll done guys 10/10 I’ll be back

The food is great, a little expensive. The staff are friendly, but it did take 20 minutes to get Fish and chips 3 times. Maybe that's the norm?

Had a few meals from here since the new management took over, they give a massive portions of chips and the fish, sausage and Savoys are tasty. Totally recommend

I think it is now under new management. The best tasting batter I've ever had, I don't usually eat the batter of the cod, bit this was exceptional and tasty.

My Honest Review. £2.20 for a portion of "chips", the portion was so small, WHY TRAYS???, they were undercooked & bland, and to be honest not nice, not one golden brown crispy chip amongst them, I hate to say it the chips from nearby kebab shop taste much better. How is this possible??? Ditch the polystyrene trays and give a "decent portion of chips" to the customers and cook "crispy golden brown chips" like we used to have in the "old days".

Great cod & chips, butter bun and gherkin, cooked fresh to order and very tasty. Social distancing working well with notices to say only one person in at any one time which people are adhering too. Good value for money

I used to think this was the best fish and chippie around. Unfortunately the taste has gone down hill like some of the staff that think they are doing you a favour serving you (perhaphs they not getting paid). WE NEED A DECENT FISH AND CHIPPIE IN THE BASILDON AREA, ONE THAT CAN CAPTURE SOME IMAGINATION AND THINK OUT OF THE BOX WITH OUR FOREVER CHANGING DIETRY REQUIRREMENTS.

I went to this chip shop a few months back ordered savlon and chips from server my savaloy rolled off the paper and rather using utensil to put it back on she used her hands that put me off I'd thought I'd give it another chance went back ordered chips to find a hair in my chips never never never again will I visit or buy anything from this chip shop disgusting looks nice from outside but shocking big q chip shop down the road is ten times better should of gone there

Had a very yummy battered sausage and chips, served by super friendly staff. The chips in particular were really good, cooked perfectly, I'll definitely be back for more soon.

Fish and chips was one of the worst I’ve had. Cod was dry and over cooked - the batter wasn’t even edible and the chips were like rubber. Certainly won’t be going back here

Probably the best chippy in Basildon. My only criticism is that the curry sauce is so tiny and it needs to be more hotter.

Great fish and chip shop takeaway located by the jolly friar pub the food is always freshly cooked though bear in mind it’s cash only the shop is fully wheelchair accessible and the staff are friendly and helpful the prices are very reasonable too

This used to be a great local chippy but really disappointed with the food today. Ordered Rock, Cod and chips. In fairness the rock was nice. The medium cod was tiny though, had a completely different batter and didn't taste fresh like the rock (looked and tasted like pre-battered fish you could buy from the supermarket). Very strange. Might have been an off day but won't be going back there again.

The food is not cooked fresh but batch cooked and left sitting in the warmer. It is very greasy and sometimes the batter is not cooked properly.

This place has been around for years and always been a great local chip shop. Sadly the chips were barely edible and such a small portion. I ordered a tub of curry sauce which was again was small, and barely half full. If I hadn't been in a rush and very hungry, I would have taken it back. A shame as I've heard from others that it's no longer a value for money, tasty meal. Will only use in future if I have to.
