First time on coming here and not sure will go back. Staff very offhand. Ordered coffee and cake. Not much choice of pastries. Chose a Cinnamon bun which had been warmed up but as soon as cooled down was soooo tough! All very average.

We went last year and it was faultless. And still this year the cafe is sweet and quirky, the food is nice and has the homemade taste. Sadly though, we were quite taken aback by the staff attitude. We waited half an hour for two sausage rolls to be microwaved (I had noticed the time we ordered because i was waiting for a call, so I can sadly assure you this isn't exagerrated). It was busy, but not that busy. When my mum politely asked if they'd be much longer (thinking maybe they had forgotten, it happens), the (possibly owner/manager?) gave a very sharp "yes they'll be with you soon". No apology, not even a neutral tone, it was a "how dare you ask" attitude like we'd only waited a couple of minutes. Now - waiting during busy times, mistakes, etc that's fair enough especially for a small business but there is never an excuse for rudeness like that. It's a real shame as this would so easily have been a 5* review and I'm all for supporting small businesses, hence why I'll still stick with three stars. My mum doesn't want to return, at least not when that lady is working.

Used to love this place, the food and atmosphere was great!! Unfortunately it’s gone down hill. “Children’s area” downstairs smells of damp and mould, no access to take pram with you, baby changing area has never been cleaned by the looks of it. Panini was full of bacon fat & unable to cut it off while holding a baby so just had to pull it out and leave it. Coffee was really nice though.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, comfy seats, fabulous vegan coffee and vegan lemon cake ! Came from Colchester for a second visit.

Whilst most of Ipswich is going downhill, & the coffee chains tend to be dirty with mass-produced, unappetising food options Fishface is a stand-out leader. Tucked away down The Walk in the town centre it offers delicious light lunches, cakes/snacks, and hot and cold drinks. Best flat white I’ve had in Ipswich (and I’m FUSSY) with an arguably the best light lunch menu around. Good vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options too. (See pic) If you want a massive plateful, or wish to pay over the odds- or need a licensed option choose Honey and Harvey. If you are after a dairy/wheat heavy (limited menu) lunch then I recommend The Green Room in Bolton Lane. (No parking) We love both but FishFace totally hits the spot for us- definitely 5*

I was visiting Ipswich with friends and we decided to try Fishface for lunch. We were seated upstairs, where it was colder than it was outside. We made our orders and the server dutifully tapped it all into an iPad. Pretty much every meal was wrong, for example, I wanted a jacket with cheese and no beans and was presented with beans and a bit of cheese. Apparently asking for no dressing was confusing too. Eventually my jacket with cheese came back and it certainly had cheese! They had lost the grater and slapped 4 chunks of cheese on my spud! Two of the party had cheese on toast. They charge £6.95 for the smallest slice of bread with a tiny bit of cheese (its possible I had everyone elses share of cheese), we asked for granary, it wasn't, a few crisps and a lot of spinach. Terrible value for money. Came out wondering what had just happened. Overpriced and no clue how to provide good food and make customers happy.

First time here, recommended by someone for a breakfast, looking at menu so many other delicious options but went for full English. Wide range of options too, all with vegetarian, vegan or gluten free option. But breakfast was so good, lots of food, well cooked. Coffee so mellow and delicious. Staff so friendly and efficient, upstairs seating airy and spacious. Would definitely recommend, keep indie businesses alive.

When I walked past Fishface I liked what I saw straight away; an apparently upmarket cafe rather than a greasy spoon. I ordered a large latte, which tasted great. My friend’s scone looked good, too. I then gave into temptation and ordered some food, opting for the Full English. At £10, which was more than I’d usually pay in London, I was expecting great things. Unfortunately, however, it was rubbish in just about every way. I wish, on reflection, I had refused to eat it and asked for a refund instead. I was told they had run out of hash browns and was offered an extra sausage, which was fine by me. However, I was dismayed when the food arrived to see two black lumps of burnt meat. I asked for the more carbonised (see photo) of the two sausages to be replaced, which was done and the waitress apologised. All of the other items did not look or taste fresh. The bacon was hard, the beans were covered in a film that suggested they had seen better days and the mushrooms looked like they’d been boiled. The fried eggs were anaemic and not very runny. I was given three small bits of toast (crust as well, which I do not like) because the waitress dropped one slice enroute to my table and never brought a replacement. Everyone else’s food that I saw looked quite good. So I can only assume I was given the dregs of what had been cooked that morning, having made the mistake of ordering at 11.45 when the breakfast service finished at midday.

What a little town centre gem! I attended this venue today with a colleague for a catch up over a coffee following a recommendation. All the relevant measures in place re Covid so we both felt entirely safe here. This venue and the team have done a great job inside considering they are short on space, but it was lovely to see some outdoor seating in this summer weather. A couple of coffees and an egg custard tart later we were both suitably impressed with this lovely little venue. Credit to Penny and the team for their brilliant service (with a smile). Whilst you are here take some inspiration from the fab selection of chalk paints on offer to purchase.

Popped in for a coffee and cake. I had a piece of carrot cake which was very undercooked and tasted just of the dough which was still soft, (it was also very beige and couldn’t see any carrot at all - dull, can’t you make it look a bit more attractive?). Anyway I returned this and spoke to a member of the team who kindly gave me something else, a scone with jam and cream. Sadly this too was extremely undercooked just like the carrot cake. Perhaps it was just a bad day for the cook as you can tell they’re handmade, which obviously isn’t a bad thing. I left half of this and unfortunately we won’t be returning.

My wife and I regularly visited Fishface pre COVID because it’s a lovely atmosphere and they serve good food and good coffee/tea. This was our first opportunity to support Fishface post lockdown and we will now regularly return to support them. Unfortunately COVID means the restaurant has lost some of its charm due to the rules. But we must support these local businesses to ensure their survival.

This is a beautiful little cafe but sadly the lady owner has to be one of the un-friendliest, miserable cafe owners I've encountered. Also they can not manage at all if the tables are busy, even out of Covid and all get stressed which does not make for a comfortable experience. The wait for food can also be long. Today there were only 5 tables full and two people were about to give up waiting. I was shown to a table, tried to order standing in a queue and not one of the team including the owner had the courtesy to say they'd be a minute. What a shame

Good coffee and excellent cheese scones. Friendly and efficient staff. Good ambience with stripped pine floors giving a rustic feel. Hit the spot right on the button.

I come here quite often, sometimes alone and sometimes with a friend and every time I thoroughly enjoy the food and the atmosphere. A very underrated cafe and needs to be recognised much more. Perfect food always delicious and a wide range of teas available. With vegan and vegetarian and gluten free options this cafe is perfect!!

Love the food, love the atmosphere, have already been back once, can't wait to return again :) Hot chocolate fab, humus & pitta delish, hubby loved all-day breakfast!

Visited here for coffee and cake, but I declined the cake as everything on offer looked dry and stale. We sat on filthy yellow armchairs, the service was extremely slow and disorganised. I could not decide whether this was a junk shop or a cafe. There was a bottle of water on the table, which looked like the flowers had been stolen from it.! An eclectic mix of tat and more tat. A very odd place.

Amazing atmosphere, best coffee in Suffolk and the staff are outstanding. I would also highly recommend their veggie/vegan food and the cakes are out of this world

My mother and I popped in today as our usual spot was closed for Christmas! We didn’t want to go to a chain and I had heard through word of mouth about this place! It’s a lovely little spot with quirky furniture and a great location, very central which is a perk! Food was reasonable and good enough for the money. The drinks were quite pleasant but not speciality. I think is a let down as that’s what independents have going for them most, a wonderful cup of coffee. I think the review would be higher if the staff were slightly friendlier. I heard groans from behind the counter when we ordered food as I’m assuming it was a busy day. But this did make me feel guilty for being there and it was only 2pm.. For now I think we will stick to applaud however I do think this place has potential! Merry Christmas :)

We made Fish Face our regular haunt several years ago because it's serves up superb coffee, cake, savoury lunches and breakfasts. It has a great atmosphere which is down to the decor and the brilliant staff who are very friendly and helpful and always up for a bit of banter when you get to know them. It has a lot of regular customers so always someone to say hi too. One special mention for the lovely Lucy who makes a cracking Double Macchiato

Today , myself and my daughter paid a lunchtime visit to this delightful little nook . The staff were very kind and thoughtful . The coffee is probably the best I've ever had in Ipswich . ( yippee ! ) . This is not a fast food venture as the majority of dishes are made individually to order , so relax . We sat at a window table and were able to watch the world go by , very calming. Food is scrumptious , and more than worth waiting for. Thank you , Fishface Upolstery .... A 1 experience .

We come to Ipswich every now and again and always it is a pain searching for a decent lunch venue No longer . We've found it. I was strolling along thinking of all the mediocre places I've had lunch at in Ipswich when I spied the sign offering pedestrian fare down an alley. So we continued down and perused the menu. Ah yes looks like they do something we can eat . Up the stairs. Menu seems excellent. Down stairs and order . Gentleman benind counter is helpful and we order. Food is absolutely wonderful Perfect mix and reasonably priced. Tastes great. This will be our destination for lunch . If you are a vegetarian then come here as you wont regret it. .Above all I want to say that this place is definately NOT pedestrian or average but great.

We visit here quite often and always enjoy the food and its such good value, highly recommended. Most dishes served with side bowl of pickle or relish and well presented.

I like this cafe, but they seem to be stressed even when empty and the young man who I assume owns it with the young lady never smiles and indeed with that has no pleasantries what so ever.If you’re running a place like this you need to welcome your guests with a smile and chat whatever their circumstance. Fraught staff make an uncomfortable place to sit.I also emailed them and didn’t get a reply .Nice place but come on guys customer service please !!

I've come up to Suffolk as my Cousin is getting married and thought I would head in to Ipswich and explore. To be honest, Ipswich isn't the greatest place really however it does have one shining light in the way of Fishface in which I stumbled across in the morning by accident, taking a wrong turn down the smaller 'alley'.

Tucked away in the town centre, this unexpected little gem delivers what must surely be the finest cooked breakfast in ipswich centre, and their bold claims of the best coffee in town will be tough to beat!.

My girlfriend and I stumbled across Fishface upholstery whilst visiting Ipswich for the first time and we were not left disappointed!

Travelled to Ipswich from Nottingham and tried this place after a recommendation by a friend. Had a delicious brunch... All the staff were attentive and friendly. Food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend!

Very cute place to go for lunch. Staff are very friendly and it’s affordable and their is plenty of choice on the menu. I had a bagel which was lush, it didn’t come with sun dried tomatoes like I asked and when I asked them they had apologies because they had run out. Overall a nice place for lunch or a coffee.

An independent cafe tucked away in the centre of Ipswich, They offer a good range of cakes and savouries, and a very smooth decaf coffee!. Around the walls they offer craft items and other curiosities which adds an extra dimension to your visit. Staff are fine, and table service is provided, even upstairs! A hidden gem...

I visit here quite frequently as they serve delicious dairy free/gluten free/vegan cakes alongside the normal range of pastries and cakes. If you can grab a table it's nice to sit in, small and quirky interior. Nice menu if you want something more to eat, again with a good range of dietary options for such a small coffee shop. All very reasonable prices too. Highly recommend.

Food and coffee are great, love the chocolate brownies, so would highly recommend for this, hence the three stars.

Went for lunch here on Monday with my mum whilst visiting Ipswich, quirky inside with a mix match of tables. Nice service, friend and efficient. Ordered cheese scones which were warmed with butter and chutney and delicious, plus the spice apple and almond cake very moist, and was a huge slice. Really enjoyed it and would highly recommend.

Been here twice now and love love love it. Previously we’d always eat at chain cafes, but as my daughter few older and more fussy it became more and more tricky. Fishface was the answer to my prayers - sandwiches are prepared using gorgeous bread, and can be tailored to suit. Must admit when I saw most of the cakes were gluten free I was slightly concerned, but that’ll teach me to make assumptions - they were delicious. It does get busy but that’s a show of how good it is. Keep up the good work, we want this to be our regular pit stop!

First time coming here, lovely place the decor is lovely lots to look at.. I came with my daughter for a quick mid shopping lunch, I had chicken coronation sandwich and my daughter had a tuna panini.. it took 45mins to arrive! When it did arrive it was very yummy looked lovely on the plate with a little side salad and dressing with lovely onion marmalade. I will come back again but the wait was rather long for what we had ordered..

Ordered 3x lunches and only two turned up. Staff lady at till apologised but the lady who I assume owns the place spent a couple of minutes scrutinising the order ticket and the chap hardly apologised. Surely the most basic requirement of a cafe is to make he food that has been ordered and paid for?! I knew the place was a bit amateurish but the poor way it was dealt with was incredulous. I’d recommend no one eat there ever! They should stick to selling pots of paint.

Haven't been to Ipswich before so finding Fishface was a bit of a surprise.

Had a lovely lunch sat outside with a couple of the lemon and watermelon slush which were excellent. Food excellent as always.

Stumbled across this quaint little place yesterday and was drawn in by the vegan options advertised. Although there wasn’t a lot of room for my massive buggy the staff were very accommodating. I love the ground floor which has toys and comfy sofas. Perfect if you have a toddler or are breastfeeding as I am. The food and drink was very nice and the staff were lovely. Will definitely visit again

Very odd set up as this feels like a paint shop that has as an afterthought, added a cafe to make ends meet. Coffee is good but the space feels cramped and although mismatch furniture is the norm, I didn’t think the chairs or sofas were in the least comfortable and they certainly were a bit grubby. Not for us I’m afraid I need less chaos and cleaner surroundings.

A very lovely petite cafe which fits in to surroundings of The Walk very nicely. The food was god and place caters for pretty much every dietary requirement and food preference that you can have. Well worth a visit if you’re in town and want a spot of lunch.

I didn't go for the food. I specifically went for the paint. I was on the Annie Sloan website and it stated that there was a supplier in Ipswich which I was chuffed about. I unfortunately have a buggy and knowing the walk can be a tight squeeze was hesitant in heading to this establishment. But as I was passing I thought I would try. I first looked through the window to judge the space and was pleased to see the paint is right in the entrance and made my move into the place. There must have been about 5 staff members behind the counter but acknowledging me coming in, I saw that they looked disapprovingly as I attempted to enter with the buggy. No smiles, no hellos, just a look and then looked away from me as though I was invisible. But I persevered and just felt a little uncomfortable the whole time I was there. however as a new mum you get over these things. I did feel the staff did perk up as they realised I was just there for the paint but by that point It didn't feel genuine. So I don't think I will be returning as this was one on my list to visit. Even with the little glimpse I dared to look at the food and it did look good, I don't think it's enough to tempt me.

Fantastic place to eat. The staff are really friendly and the vegan food is amazing. They have a really good selection with cakes and other dishes. Jacket potato with vegan cheese was wonderful!! If you’re a vegan or not it’s worth a visit.

The door failing to latch drove me to distraction, every time anyone came in or out they closed the door, which then slowly came open . Its a small venue in January, the nice warm cafe got a freezing blast of air each time. I got up at least 6 times to close it firmly. Owners, please fix the latch ! the coffee and tea got cold quickly as a result, my feet were getting very cold too. The cakes were lovely, although I don't like seeing them on display without a cover to be honest

Hi been here a few times now and cannot rate it enough. It's a lovely little place where the staff are always friendly and the food is always fresh, I highly recommend the salmon and cream cheese bagels. They also sell upcycled furniture and querky locally sourced items. Ideal for an unique gift.

Dieser kleiner Coffee Shop oder Tea Room ist wirklich besonders! Hier gibt es tollen Tee und Kaffee, eine kleine Frühstückskarte den ganzen Tag und herzhafte Gerichte zum Mittag (probieren Sie die Suppen). Eingerichtet mit verschiedenen Kunterbunten Möbeln zusammengestellt, muss man es fast schon gern haben. Veganer kommen hier auch zum Zug.

We wanted baked potatoes but they had run out and there was going to be a 20 minute wait so we plumped for the tomato and basil soup with gluten free toast. We also had gluten free chocolate brownies. One of the soups came out cold so I took it back to be reheated. The soup was tasty but the gluten free toast turned out to be a cold panini type bread which hadn't been toasted.

Lovely choice of light lunches, cakes and drinks including an excellent choice for vegans. Nice decor and friendly staff. Pecan pie was amazing. The hummus plate was really nice, it was a nice change to have hummus served with enough pita bread. Will return very soon.

This coffee shop is easy to miss as you wander down The Walk. Look out for a few small tables and chairs to the front. There's a very home made feel about this place, including the food (delicious selection of cakes). Everything is for sale including the chairs you sit on and the tables you eat off.

Tenía un panini que era glutenfree foods on request con ensalada y una taza de té y un pastel demasiado el personal era muy servicial y el lugar es muy tranquilo y muy concurrido y personal era alegre y esta fue la primera visita y no será la última.

Estuve con mi madre y mi hermana antes de ir al teatro el sábado por la tarde. Pedimos café, bollos y pan tostado teacake. El personal era agradable y servicial. El café era muy bueno. Bollos eran un poco decepcionantes en tamaño y se supone que vienen con mantequilla y mermelada. Creemos que la mantequilla, margarina Butterly era completamente o un equivalente y la mermelada era mermelada barato. El día antes habíamos estado en miel y Harvey en Woodbridge y por el mismo precio los bollos de mantequilla y mermelada fueron muy superiores.

Very unusual eclectic space for elevenses, cafe that also hosts furniture painting, re-upholstery and lampshade workshops! Coffee and cake was good and suspect soup etc would be too. Will give it a try next time we're in Ipswich.

Un encantador en una cafetería pero no tuve oportunidad de probar la comida, ya que no podría conseguir la atención del personal ya que estaban demasiado ocupados hablando entre sí! Entré al café y su conversación no parada. Nadie me reconoció. Me senté por unos 10 minutos de espera para ser atendido, pero nadie llegó, y su conversación no parada. Quizás uno se supone que enfoque el contador para el servicio, pero en una ocasión anterior me habían dicho que iban a venir a mí, que no lo hicieron.

If you can get a table, it's a nice place to get a sandwich at lunch. Good menu choices, can be a bit slow as freshly prepared. Sit upstairs if you can, it's a bit quieter

Was just looking for a quick cuppa and my partner suggested here. Not really sure what the shop thinks it is. Seems to resemble a knick knack shop with a tea shop crammed in around it.

This place rocks shabby chic. Very quirky. Food was fresh, quick and delicious. Lots of bits to look at. We came for breakfast and had bagels. The iced tea was great. So much better than the standard hotel breakfast. Brilliant little find.

Nos fuimos a media mañana para tomar un tentempié y bebidas. Tuve el batido casa hechos con plátano y muy gruesas y seductores para alrededor de £2,80. La pastelería, tartas y pan parece eran exquisitos. Yo estaba muy tentado de volver para el almuerzo, pero que habíamos reservado en un lugar, así que sin duda volveremos. Un montón de tiempo en el menú del almuerzo y los clásicos como el queso crema y tablas de bagel de salmón ahumado por £5,65, hamburguesas, salchichas, etc. - todos rollos parecía realmente bueno. Pequeño café en una tienda de decoración, pero muchas mesas alrededor y arriba. Me encantó el lugar, lo que debería ser un lugar moderno, ofrece en el servicio, sabor y precios muy razonables.

Visité este lugar con mi amigo, me detuve para una taza de café. Este lugar es increíble, el personal muy amable y buen ambiente entre los muebles retro, vintage y algunos de estos se pueden comprar si les gustan. Lugar perfecto para una bebida o de un pequeño aperitivo y tomar un descanso de las compras.

Me pareció que el año pasado este rincón peculiar mientras caminando alrededor de ipswich, escondido en el paseo, lejos del bullicio de la calle principal, sólo para aquellos que se preguntan desde las principales carreteras.

Visitamos hoy aquí con mi hermana y me marché muy contentos. Soy libre de gluten y tenía mi selección de sándwiches tostados y pasteles, una rara opción para Ipswich! El té se sirve en vasos preciosos y platillos con una gran tetera. Había mucha gente, pero nos sirvieron rápido y el personal es encantador. Un maravilloso hallazgo, sin duda volveré.

A menudo apareció en la tarta y café cuando compras es peculiar y único y mucho mejor que ir a una cafetería de plástico. copycat Imaginar mi placer cuando pregunté si no algo sin gluten para el almuerzo y me dijeron todos los pannis son sin gluten. De hecho había tanta variedad tuvimos que sentarnos a mirar el menú por un tiempo. La comida era deliciosa y puedo recomendar a cualquiera, pero especialmente para celíacos.

He estado en el café varias veces y es un lugar encantador. No sólo es la música relajante, la comida agradable y una buena relación calidad-precio, también las cosas increíbles. Es el lugar perfecto para descansar y relajarse con una taza de té y un pastel mientras toma un aspecto encantador presenta en hechos a mano como mercancías tejidos, joyas o saludo tarjetas de la zona. También es apropiado para la gente intolerante al gluten.

Un petit café un peu caché dans une ruelle du centre-ville de Ipswich qui propose su sucré comme du salé (paninis, sandwichs...). Una atmosphère propice à la détende. Je recommande fortement !

It's easy to walk past this place as the outside signage isn't excellent..... But once you get there and if you're lucky enough to find a seat you will enjoy the food and drink!!

Lo que un encantador salón de té, haber caminado por varias veces anteriores, mi pequeña familia nos apetecía un pedazo de pastel y una pequeña pastelería sabrosa y pensamos que nos daría Fishface una prueba. El salón de té en sí es cálido, original y acogedor, el personal no podía hacer más para ayudar, trayendo papel materias colorantes y lápices para nuestra más aventureras pequeño.

This place is a quirky little find in Ipswich. It serves lovely coffee and tea. And it serves the best coffee and walnut cake I've tasted.

We had 2 excellent panini, you choose what you want from a long list of ingredients, brilliant idea. Comes with a nice salads, crisps and a smile. Latte was perfect. Good value for money and you can get your last minute Christmas gifts

Me habían pasado por esta tienda de té en el verano unas cuantas veces y siempre quise probarlo.

Mi amigo y yo nos encontramos con esta tienda habitual y encantadora hace un par de semanas y nos enamoramos de ella. Es único en su estilo, con mesas y sillas cómodas esparcidas entre un montón de artículos malayos individualmente y joyas para comprar. Distribuidas en tres pisos, con asientos en la planta baja y primera planta, se sirve té, café, pasteles y aperitivos ligeros a excelentes precios. Hay un ambiente agradable y un personal amable y te hacen sentir muy bienvenidos. Se sirve té en China en teteras individuales con tazas y platillos estaban rendidos y la leche viene en una pequeña botella de leche tradicional de cristal. Debemos apoyar estas tiendas independientes y sin duda alguna volveremos en nuestro próximo viaje a la ciudad

Nos encontramos con esta preciosa tienda familiar hace un par de semanas y ahora han ido 3 veces. Un personal amable, buena comida y pasteles fabulosos. Excelente relación calidad-precio. Cómodas sillas. También pasamos tiempo mirando a la joyería, artesanía, etc. Hay mucho que ver. Ya estamos deseando volver.

En un viaje de la banca en el centro histórico de la ciudad una mañana, nos encontramos con este lugar. Curiosidad y la necesidad de una solución cafeína llevó. El café era excepcionalmente buena, así como los pastas tostado! Nos sentamos en cómodas sillas en una mesa de café, rodeado de "cutre" mobiliario y tapicería y baratijas chic de muestras de todo tipo, todos disponibles para la venta.
